Great video mate. I wish all you-tube tutorials were like this. No BS, No bias pumping a particular bran up. Just plain, simple and informative. I'm still scratching my head which detector to get, but this video has narrowed the field down considerably. Cheers brother

Love your vids mate. My brother just got me into detecting recently by giving me his old bountyhunter 2200. He upgraded to the equinox 800. My first find at an old church nabbed me an 1845 Queen Victoria 1 cent. So am pretty hooked now.
You forgot to mention battery life. Some of those detectors can burn up a lot of batteries or the need to recharge after 5 hours+. Also, XP Deus lasts several days on one charge. Additionally being so light you can swing it all day. The CTX 3030 will wear you out after a few hours. Just a thought. Great video. David Fort Lauderdale, FL USA

Great video. I bought the CTX 3030 and the GPZ-7000 at the same time. A couple of years later, I traded my 3030 and Gold Bug 2 in on a Gold Monster 1000, cash in my pocket and 1 day hunting at the seller's mine (I found almost 1 oz of gold).
I bought my first MD, a Gold Mountain detector, which was a sister company to Garrett at the time. That was 1976 and I paid $125 dollars for it. My next MD was a Garrett Master Hunter. I lived in Dallas where Garretts were made. My last MD was a Whites Coinmaster, complete with case, headphones and extra coil. Now that I'm at a point in my life where I can afford any detector that I could ever want, my health has left me with mobility issues that pretty much negates detecting my old favorite areas. Now I just watch videos and remember.
I'm here in the USA and it's good to know the Mine Lab is a good mushean it was a gift from one of my teachers and my mom they both past away this last year and I have not tried it yet. I have quite a lot of Mine Lab gere .
Good overview. I use my gpz7000 on the beach and kill it, salt and medium target settings, anyone else following me won't find much. Not the best for around rocks but to cover ground and picking up faint signals it's the best. I do go into water but the coil floats, so it's hard work, normally I would use my excalibur 2 which is awesome.

Very clear and concise presentation! But I am curious why you did not include the Garrett ATX with the pulse inductions detectors. Sure, it's a bit older than the others you covered. But I continue to use mine with great success. Have found many objects and gold while following after others with VLF and pulse detectors including XP Deus and SDC 2300. The ATX folds compact, has long battery life, is extremely durable, water proof to 3 meters, and has three coils available.. Only con I know of is the weight which has never been a factor for me while using a harness. (I am 65 years old) Another factor I feel people should consider is the sound that the detector produces. I do not prefer the "crying squieal" that Minelabs make. The Hi-Lo tones (or Lo-Hi) tones of the Garretts is much more pleasant and infomative which reduces false or undesireable targets. Grazie mille.
@@OurPastAu still a great video though. Has definitely thrown a spanner in the works for me lol. I was set on Garrett before this. I read some reviews on the minelab units on the BCF page. Most said the same thing. More suited for kids 14 and under
Yes the Minelab GoFind range is definitely aimed more at kids. Depending on your budget, the Nokta Simplex, Minelab Equinox 800 or Garrett Apex would all certainly be very capable starting units. Remember to factor in costs for digging equipment/pinpointer. I’m happy to answer any other questions you have in future 👍 Best of luck.
@@OurPastAu thank you so much for the reply. I needed up going with the Garrett 300i as a starter option. I thought it has the features I need backed by a reputable name. I was going to get the one down from it but the 300 just had a few more tricks up it’s sleeve to pass up ie: pinpointing, coil cover, controls cover and ear muffs (they’re probz not the greatest tho lol). Keep up the good work and videos. I’ll be sure to keep tuning in
Great video explaining each unit and it would be nice to know how deep each one will seek using the same target in the same soil or air would suffice Ah the age old question everyone likes to know and realize there many things to consider doing this but it still would be nice for comparison for the end user thanks
Great video with lots of good information. What do you think about the Vanquish 540 vs. the Garrett Ace 400? Is the Vanquish a much better machine if the price is similar?
I have the Minelab Vanquish 540 and have all three coils, the 8, 10 and 12. You mention there is aftermarket coils available would you recommend someplace or some manufacturer to buy them from? I haven't been able to find any. Btw with the pro pack I also got the bluetooth headphones (apparently ultra fast) which is great because they are bluetooth and I can use them with other things, like say my phone.
Is that Zed a 5-speed or 4-speed stick? Damn that thing is huge. I tell ya what, I live inland without really any appreciable water around, except for the odd little lake here or there. For me, that Vanq540 is optimal. But im confused on why rechargeable batteries are a negative with some ppl. Let's say you and a partner are in the field and one has the 540 and the other has whatever other machine that doesn't take batteries. And they both run out of power. With the 540, you can pull out the dead batteries, put them in your pocket to recharge when you get home, and throw in a replacement set of recharged batteries or even regular Duracells and you're off! With your partner's machine, he/she is done! I myself never ever consider versatility to be a negative. Am I missing something? Im newer at the hobby but still, I cant figure out why batteries would be a negative, other than a rechargeable unit not having batteries to lose or drop. But if the thing goes dead you're either done or you have to carry a portable charger like an emergency cell phone power-pack, and thats the same thing as batteries anyway!!?
If I'm new to metal detectors and I'm looking for waterproof and the ability to find coins gold AND relics do they make 1 detector that can do that all under 2000 dollars for the machine itself? I'll buy all the accessories separately... great channel!!!!
Hi Paul, that's correct. As with most detectors on the market, the coil is waterproof, but the control box certainly is not. Being an entry level detector it wasn't made to be a submersible machine, so any exposure to water could result in drowning the machine, which would not be covered under Minelab's warranty.
What about the Garrett ATX ?? I had my eyes on it for some time now ... If not , i would like a metal detector that could go quite deep but not too expensive. Any advices folks ?? Thank you.
I'm placing an order for my first detector machine. I'm 54 years old so I'm not looking for a toy, I can afford a great machine. After much research and endless videos I've narrowed my choices to two machines. The Equinox 800 and AT Pro/Max, would love to hear opinions on the choices I've made. I'm in the U.S. Midwest, I'm going to be hunting dark black soil areas like a prairie, farm and wooded areas. Any thoughts from anyone would be helpful. Thanks.
Grest review Jacob. My favourite was the etrac til the screen touchpad started playing up. Have got a vanquish 540 pro pack now. When did you change over to ml? Thought you liked garrett
Same here lol, I have a nox 800 and ctx, All the different coils for both of them and know both machines but my nox stays dusty in the closet unless I let a friend use it😀
Equinox 800 is my favorite.... BUT!!! The build quality could of been better. Shaft soooo begin 2000ish rather had the locks that you find on the Simplex and XP machines. And the coil could of been more better concerning its vulnerability. But in overall its still the best. Am however curious about the Deus II
Figures I'm in WI we getting hit hard with snow. I'm new to detecting and going to pick up a machine come spring I can't wait to go hunting. Just have to pick out a machine and the EQ 800 seems the diggers choice.
If you are going strictly gold I would recommend the gold monster. I didn't really know anything and saw a couple of vids about the eq800 so bought one but I do plan on buying the gold monster which will prob be my gold machine strictly
I take it the garrett ace apex didn't make the cut. If you had to pick between the apex or vanquish 540 which one? I'm just starting out and want to use it at the beach as well. Coins and relics. Thanks enjoyed the video
Which of the Nokta Makro Simplex or Vanquish 540 Would be best for gold? How much worse are they compared to the expensive 7000? Edit. Or is there something optimized for gold in the lower price ranges?
Great vid, but whats recommended for gold coins or gold jewellery, I have the minelab etrac which has been fantastic for coins and silver, when it hits silver you know about it but for gold it hardly even picks it up.
@@janninebennett8782 I haven't had the chance to hold - let alone use a QED detector.
Love my sdc2300 for the dig sites.
The monster is a weapon VLF for bedrock pickers.
I dont no english well. but i see eqinox. What you by? NOX800 or other.. Garret?))
Good information & explaination..
Loved it...Thank you!!!
If I'm new to metal detectors and I'm looking for waterproof and the ability to find coins gold AND relics do they make 1 detector that can do that all under 2000 dollars for the machine itself? I'll buy all the accessories separately... great channel!!!!
You said to keep the go find detectors away from water. I have the 44 and coil works fine in streams and beach.....it is waterproof.
Hi Paul, that's correct. As with most detectors on the market, the coil is waterproof, but the control box certainly is not. Being an entry level detector it wasn't made to be a submersible machine, so any exposure to water could result in drowning the machine, which would not be covered under Minelab's warranty.
Wow! I really love Gold Monster 1000 metal detector hope I can try this one. Perfect for my channel!
What about the Garrett ATX ?? I had my eyes on it for some time now ...
If not , i would like a metal detector that could go quite deep but not too expensive.
Any advices folks ?? Thank you.
Thank you for the advice I'm starting to look into getting to it for this spring I'm from the states
No worries Don, glad I could help
I'm placing an order for my first detector machine. I'm 54 years old so I'm not looking for a toy, I can afford a great machine. After much research and endless videos I've narrowed my choices to two machines. The Equinox 800 and AT Pro/Max, would love to hear opinions on the choices I've made. I'm in the U.S. Midwest, I'm going to be hunting dark black soil areas like a prairie, farm and wooded areas. Any thoughts from anyone would be helpful. Thanks.
I have both the pro and the 800.I live in the mineral belt of the Colorado Rockies. The pro is a great machine but the 800 covers way more bases
800 all the way, I dumped my max for the 800 :)
Good luck. XP ORX would be a great choice.
Great review Jacob. Hope to see you down at Wedderburn next year for the Jamboree
I hope so! Thank you.
Hey from usa! Very good job on the video!
Thanks Larry!
Grest review Jacob. My favourite was the etrac til the screen touchpad started playing up. Have got a vanquish 540 pro pack now. When did you change over to ml? Thought you liked garrett
Thank you , the 540 is great 👍 Switched over in September, loving the machine.
Happy New Year DA, Keep Rocking!!!
You too!!
I had ctx 3030 since 2012 , after using 5 years got My self a Nox used it 2 years , Nox is gone ctx is a monster if You know how to use it 100% 😎😎
Very true, there is no better detector than the one you know how to use 😁
@@OurPastAu Ive learned Nox 100% im a fast learner 😁😎
Same here lol, I have a nox 800 and ctx, All the different coils for both of them and know both machines but my nox stays dusty in the closet unless I let a friend use it😀
Great video my freind thanks for sharing this formation Big like 💙💙👍👍
Equinox 800 is my favorite.... BUT!!! The build quality could of been better. Shaft soooo begin 2000ish rather had the locks that you find on the Simplex and XP machines. And the coil could of been more better concerning its vulnerability. But in overall its still the best. Am however curious about the Deus II
Gr8 vid, just bought the 800, then it snowed grrrrr.
Dude.. go hit the sledding hills and turn sensitivity down to get the shallow targets! Lots of stuff at popular sled hills.
The first model you showed is worth more than my car lol - enjoyed the video and info bro - best wishes from Ireland....!
Great, and honest vid thx m8
Really enjoyed this video!! Great watch!!
Good informative video, but for beginners. Hi from Canada.
I just ordered the equinox 540 pro pack and it arrived today, new hobby so i think i picked a good machine!
Hi sir good afternoon how to order this product what is the delivery website please tell me
Great vid, but whats recommended for gold coins or gold jewellery, I have the minelab etrac which has been fantastic for coins and silver, when it hits silver you know about it but for gold it hardly even picks it up.
you mention Garrett at the beginning but do not review any.....where does the MAX fall in at....considering one now.....great video
Links to all products mentioned can be found in the description of this video 😁😁😁
Sir good morning,, do you deliver in Philippines area sir,, an how tonpay if i order one of your ptocduct sir,,
No mention of the only Australian made metal detector QED pulse induction.
@@janninebennett8782 I haven't had the chance to hold - let alone use a QED detector. Nor do I know anyone that owns one, so probably wouldn't be able to do it justice by mentioning it without prior knowledge. Hopefully one day I'll have the chance to use one, and give my opinion. Thanks for the comment Jannine 😁
Sir, in the philippines are we can buying of your products? It theres a distributor here in philippines , what names of the copany?
It's refreshing to see a really practical chat for newbies.
Thanks for keeping it real.
Cheers
