Hi Merrill, I have been watching your videos for like 2 or 3 years . Love your content. Just wanted to tell you I appreciate what you do for the community and your teaching ability and honesty.
I have the Equinox 600 and the Legend. Both work well in the beach water. I’ve learned to take great care of the Nox., since I’ve drowned mine once, broke the ears on the 11 inch coil twice and broken the arm cuff twice, on which it now has a Detect Ed arm cuff on it. (Best investment I’ve made on the detector.) It’s still going strong, but it will be replaced by the Nox 700, when it fails completely. It’s been good to me though. I found a $10,000 white gold Neal Lane Diamond ring with it, a few months ago along with many other goodies throughout the years I’ve had it. Great video Merrill. Happy Digz. _/ 👍
CTX 3030 with the 17" coil is still my go-to beach detector. I own all of the above mentioned detectors + more (Deus 2, Legend, Manticore, Equinox 800, CZ21, Sovereign GT, TDI, Minelab PI (modded F1a4), Infinium, Vanquish 540, Garrett Axiom (Sold) and the CTX). Nothing comes close to the target ID accuracy of the CTX (Deus 2 is only thing that is close), and the CTX Depth beats everything else that isn't a PI. I think the CTX's biggest flaw, is including auto sensitivity, which everyone uses as a crutch... turn it to manual sensitivity and crank it to just under where the falsing drives you crazy, it hits stupid deep targets. For the record, I've found 19 gold so far this year, 15 with the CTX, 3 with the Deus 2, and 1 with the Manticore. Target ID accuracy is a huge deal that people seem to gloss over. If you knew how many "Iron" targets that you hear with the NOX/Manticore, that are actually gold, and you keep walking because the machine lied to you, your jaw would drop. Dig some of those -1 to -3 "Iron" targets with the NOX, you will be surprised (and frustrated) at how many of them are not Iron.
I would argue that there is no such thing as target ID accuracy. It sure helps inference, but check out the segment at 4:29 of this video: ruclips.net/video/x912T3w1ZUI/видео.html
@@MetalDetectingNYC It's not as much about what the number is on the conductivity scale, it's the ferrous vs non-ferrous accuracy that is lacking in most of the current flavor of the month detectors. Next time you go to the beach with any metal detector, open up those lower "Iron" numbers, such as -1 to -3 on the NOX, or on the Manticore, targets that are reading as iron (top or bottom of screen) on the 2D screen but have a low target ID number. You will be surprised how many are actually good targets. I do this with every machine, and the CTX is the only one that didn't falter on these target, with the Deus 2 a close second.
@@PursueTheUnknown~ ~Thank you for that very good educational report. That is very interesting about the Manticore and Equinox mistake in >>sometimes showing gold in the same place as iron>identifies (differentiates) between gold and iron better
Dude , your channel taught me to not quit. I'm farms , yards. I found 32 cents clad but dug deep in the storms and got 1700s oxen tack. A great feeling. A crusty old Matron too.
If you’ve ever thought about buying a folding knife, you’ve almost inevitably encountered the might of the Leatherman and Victorinox Swiss Army Knife brands. Both are iconic in their own way, so it’s a tough job to point to one or the other and easily say which is better
Great video Merrill. I have some definite thoughts on the Nox 600 and 800. I’ve owned both and submerged both, I did notice that friends of mine who man handled their nox’s are the ones that had leaking issues. A good example is when we are land hunting and they get a target, start to dig and just drop their detector. Over time, that has to take a toll, 99% of the time, I take the extra time to either gently place my machine on the ground or prop it up on my shovel or scoop. And I think you are correct in your opinion of the 600, it was my upgrade for my AT pro because we vacation on the New Hampshire coast and the AT pro couldn’t do even damp saltwater sand. My first time out with my 600, I couldn’t believe the stability and target ID, the finds quality got much better of course as well. I used that machine years and I found a ton of great stuff on the land and in the water. I sold it to my brother and he loves it. Anyway, thanks for the video !!!
Interesting. I have ML Equinox 800 and loved it, especially for its capabilities and simple user friendly controls. Now, I have a Manitcore, and I love it also, but it is designed for a more experienced detectorist. My current conclusion is if you can find it in you budget and have some detecting experience, buy the Manticore. Hands down it is awesome and does not suffer from the cheap construction and design faults of the Deus 2.
A very good review Merrill . We have been sanded in here for weeks . Its been hard to find much out there , but I have to say the Manticore blows my mind on the tiny targets I have been finding . The Equinox 600 was good on small stuff but the Manticore is next level on small targets.
For what it's worth, I have an Xterra pro, just started beach detecting a couple months ago and found my 11th ring yesterday, frequently dig good deep targets in the surf, including a silver ring about 10inches down recently.
Havent upgraded from my nox 600 in 5 yesrs. It beeps, i find some descent stuff. Its hard to justif buying expensive detectors. Id probably find more bottle caps . Lol
Thanks Merrill, you put an enormous amount of effort in educating us, and great explanations where needed. I've been running an XP Deus one on and off while travelling for 20 months. Its been great in the dry sand, but gash on the wet. The Deus II is my next weapon of choice from all of the information I've gathered, glad to see a great shakedown and your reasoning as to why they're ranked as they are. Good luck on the beaches and with your great channel. 😊
well my friend Merrill,I took the plunge I gat a deus 2, after using the deus 2 master for a year,I was probably the first to use the deus 2 master,I just had to do it. a very well built detector, great video highly informative, thank you for a great video.
I Chose the nox900 thanks to your opinion and I can't wait to give her a try at OOB Maine next week all week!!! Last year I wouldn't go near the water because whites had long since stopped replacing my leaky Beach hunter ID and i kept this one dry only!! My other detector was the minelab xplorer that fell out of the back of my cubetruck with doors open somewhere from the kennybunk rest stop to Boston LOL!!!! congrats if you found it and are enjoying it! Thanks for the videos!!
Merrill, you are a great resource! Thank you very much for all your work. I have purchased a Minelab 540 using your advice. I’ll let you know how I do.
This was a great vlog In-depth enough to make you want more information (iratemetaldetectors) My wife was listening and her words not mine he'd make a good teacher. (She now knows lol) As always thank you liked and shared Regards Tony
Darn you! Today I spent a bit of time metal detecting. Sadly not at a beach but in the yard around our 1892 Victorian mansion that we know the history of. A very well to do family that lives in the house for almost 60 years. Today was my first real go at detecting, only third day running a detector ever, and I found a 1887 Seated Liberty Dime in amazing shape. I am addicted to hunting now! Weather permitting I will be hunting the yard again tomorrow. The detector is a Garrette ACE 300, nowhere near as good as the stuff you uses but I am having fun for sure.
Hey we saw our name ❤. Thanks brother. Great video. Need to get Amy a legend or a cheaper Nox. I have come to the same conclusion that the Xterra Pro is just not great on the beach. Well done
Appreciate the detailed answers Merrill. I’ve been contemplating my next MD. So I’m closer now after this video today and the one Calabash did a couple of days ago! All good details to consider!
Here is a real honest review.. I have been using my 20 year old bounty hunter quick silver on DRY beach.. can't even count how many rings and modern clad I have found! I am upgrading to the EQ800.. not sure if that's a smart choice.. but I am.
My new xterra pro leaked the first time I took it into the water. I am bummed out. I only used it 3 times and was enjoying it. Easy to learn the features. My first detector too 😢
Great video Merrill. As I said before the Simplex was driving me crazy in salt water. You gave me a lot of food for thought as to my next purchase. Was hoping Nokta Makro would come out with a updated download that would stabilize my simplex. Not holding my breath. Thanks for all the effort and time you put into your videos to inform us about your finds on the variety of detectors out there.
I had the 600 and the 800. Yes more customization and bells and whistles, a gold mode and an extra frequency. but there was no difference in capability. You’re on the right track with the 700
Love my fisher 1265 great on dry sand Minelab sovereign elite very cheap 220 quid brilliant on beach Excalibur 2 just love it expensive but goes deep and ignore iron also the sovereign the same can always tell foil every time and also bottle tops might try the legend will watch a few videos maybe next year
Hi Merrill I say you use what you are happy with I use the Equinox 600 and I am made up with it in the United Kingdom brilliant channel love the videos
Sir Merrell loved the video truey well done and informative and I agree with all your hard work in investing all possible information, but I disagree with you on the Excalibur 2, I,be used it since it came out, and I personally have found over400 plus gold rings,30 gold bracelets,, about 200 plus silver rings, coins ,rings , knifes ,etc in all my years, like you I have 4 other detectors,2Equalnox, whites beach hunter, ,but can't compare to the Excalibur 2, yesterday 7more gold rings,2 silver, tons of coins, my 2 buddy's, with Mantacore 1ring,Dues 0 , Sir Merrell try the Excalibur 2 you be surprised how awesome this detector is!, it's fast light weight, deep seeking, and water proof as you know, dependable, it's not only for divers, great beach machine, try it,you,ll love it. congratulations on such a great video
I had probably one of the worst days of my life detecting at the beach with my nox 900.. I think a lot of it has to do with the beach being sanded in heavily. Have you ever gone on a beach hunt and got completely skunked? I came home with 26 Cents in clad LOL probably my most unproductive 3-hour Beach hunt since I've started. I have been looking into getting the Nokta Legend as my next machine for my beach hunting Arsenal. I have been doing a lot of due diligence watching RUclips between watching your videos I have also been watching the gentleman from Virginia the gig master. He has a few of the top detectors in his Arsenal but he seems to use the legend more often I see a lot of people using it lately here at the beach where I live, and they can't say enough good things about it. You definitely cannot beat the price for the features that it has.
Gigmaster is the G.O.A.T. to me. But I am curious (I don't know the answer to this); could he get a salary from Nokta. He owns the Deus 2 and the Equinox but he has gone exclusive with the Legend. Personally, I think you got the good stuff with the 900. The Legend is the best value but in my opinion it is NOT an upgrade over the Equinox 900. Look at the last livestream I did. I got skunked! It happens to me a lot. It happens to ANYBODY a lot. Its beach conditions and the amount of detectorists on a given beach divided by drops.
@MetalDetectingNYC oh absolutely! I was kind of wondering that myself about him possibly being sponsored by them. I love the gigmasters vids! I absolutely love my 900! There is no doubt about it. It's fantastic at finding rings in the wet sand. I would definitely have to concur with your analogy of Excaliber II. There are die-hard fans of that machine that absolutely will not give it up for any new technology out there today. Sean, from Detect Florida, was using an excaliber II exclusively until he got sponsored and now uses the Manticore exclusively in his videos. My interest in the legend is more less geared to having a backup machine in case God forbid, anything goes wrong with my 900. 🙂
I’m good friends with Gig and can confirm he uses the Nokta because it’s has not been shown to leak , he stopped using the D2 because of the wire issues and coil charging issues . If it wasn’t for his leaks he would probably still use Equinox . But this guy Detects way more than most so he is the best equipment tester I think really great guy !
I couldn't agree more! Gigmaster is definitely at the top of the list of my favorite RUclips channels, I mostly admire how many people he has helped recover their belongings. Seeing the legend used and the success he has with it reinforces my decision to purchase one as a secondary machine to my Equinox 900 should I ever encounter a problem with it.
I just looked at your website and the funny thing is..I hunt with Kevin and we are from woodland metal detecting and I typically find more things than he does and I use the manticore and he uses the legend..what I’m trying to say is the manticore has shown and proven to me that it is a better and more capable detector than the legend, Nox, and especially EX deus 2. Just saying 🤷🏻♂️ I know it’s a better detector than those 3 just won’t give it the love because of the price. Well it’s definitely worth the price trust me
I love my nox 600 im going to Old orcard beach here on the coast of Maine I have found 26 ring so far my next detector will be the nox 700 HH like your vids!
I use the D2 on the beach because it works and still pulls up stuff on done to death areas and goes deep! But on land the Equinox and Manticore go deeper. But they are too heavy for me and most times depth is not a factor but on soft pasture depth is important!
@@MetalDetectingNYC Cheers Merrill👍 watched that vid! Most historical artefacts on farms come from mineralised ground. The ground in the vid was non mineralised. Yesterday on a group dig I was on maximum depth settings but could tell from the finds that the ML were getting older stuff. Older equals deeper on that pasture! The ML maybe were an inch or two deeper! In the UK that is the difference between getting modern or old artefacts on undisturbed pasture! On the beach I prefer the D2. On plowed land any detector will work but the Deus’s work very well! So depth is only important on unplowed land!
I've recommended the Vanquish to a couple people as a starter / beach detector. Merrill keep your ears open for reports of the Manticore leaking. I've come across a couple stories of flooded Manticores. A story or two isn't enough to say it's actually a problem, but if it's a trend ... yikes. Yes, I'm a fan of the Apex on the beach, but of course you are bang on in your assessment of it. :)
I would say that the Bounty Hunter Tracker 4 is great on the Sandy Ocean Beach. I also have dug with it in the wet. I know it is not a Multi detector like the ones you have in the list. But I would never knock the TK4. I am really liking the 700 on the beach. hits deep. Man I like how you break down things for people to understand. I bought many detectors cause it said Beach on the box. Totally miss leading. So Now I swing the Minelab detectors. Can not go Wrong. Thanks Brother for keeping us in the Loop on what's good What's great and what you may not want to buy.. Peace
@@MetalDetectingNYC I used the TK4 on the beach for yrs. Never let me down. Depth on the other hand was fair for what the detector could do. But on the beach during season fresh drops were not deep.
I recently bought a mine lab 800. You mentioned that they leak, is that at the coil or at the controls? I don’t live by a beach so have not put it in water yet Thanks for the info
So happy to find this channel! I'm new to the hobby (I live in Suffolk Co.). I picked up two White's Beach Hunter ID used on craigslist. Can you point me to a good instructional video? I seem to be hit and miss with settings. Any pro tips for this detector?
I swung that. As for instructional videos there really are none. I kept the ground between the O and the U. I kept the sensitivity as high as possible. I wore earplugs (im not kidding because of the lack of volume control).
@@MetalDetectingNYC Not a bad idea! If it's quiet enough, I wear the (duct tape, silicon, zip tie repaired) headphones around my neck. My (8yr old) son and I are pumped to get out there. I think I've watched the videos that you used the BH 300. Great finds there!
I think you haven’t tested the Xterra pro in the salt water yet . I did a side by side test in the wet sand at the surf break ( so it was really wet sand ) with a 2 gram 14kt ring my 600 vs the XTP and it hit it better at ten inches deep and it runs just as quiet at the Nox in the water , you have to run the sens at 16 where as in a nox you probably run 20 in water but I think it’s just a difference of the machines increments .
@@MetalDetectingNYC well I haven’t seen it fall short yet , some people complain they don’t get a constant VDI but I don’t get that with a Nox either , but every time it’s bouncy numbers the object isn’t Round so that’s really just information, I have been using my 600 recently because it has a year warranty still and you don’t bench your starter in summer, but I have been getting requests for more Xterra in salt water in my comments so today I’m heading out with it in the water with Minelab wired dive headphones wish me luck , the beach I’m going to has been replenished 🤨and been hammered hard by detectors this year .. I know up in NY you don’t get in the water like we do her in VA but I’m honestly telling you Merrill the 8 kHz Beach mode on XTP is just as quiet as my 600 in water
I have a friend that recently purchased a Legend. I have the Apex and I buried a walking liberty half dollar at 10"., 3 years ago. My Apex saw it, his legend did not.
Hi Merrill, it is now May 2024. I'm searching for the right metal detector. I wanna walk to the beach. Get in the salt water with it and not have to worry. where should I spend my money? Thanks, Mike
There is a reason that I chose to become XP Metal Detectors second ambassador. After owning 23 detectors, do you think I would be willing to downgrade? The Deus 2 is the best detector I ever used hands down.
The Minelab Manticore is much more than a 2D display. There are so many more features that improve your search for treasure. If you know a person who is truly knowledgeable about the Manticore take the time to talk to him or her. The key word is knowledgeable. Happy Hunting my friend👍
@@metaldetectingbrooklyn9896 I respectfully disagree. The audio options are a step up from the Equinox. More power works great in areas where there is EMI. The higher sensitivity levels are tough to stabilize after 26. There is marginally more depth and more separation. The ferrous target ID's are great in addition to the non ferrous scale. It is better than the Equinox on bottle caps. Target trace is as reliable as the XY screen on the Deus 2 (not reliable). Aside from program, recovery speed, sensitivity, ground balance and how you notch (I don't) there is no magic combination that makes a world of difference beyond the regular programs. The bottom line is you have to swing over it. Please elaborate on the "many more features" i'm missing here. All in all it is a more capable detector than the equinox series, but I don't see 1000 dollars more value than an Equinox 600.
Merrill, I wanted to add some information regarding the Equinox 800. I bought mine when they first came out. I used it for 5 years and was out of warranty. Recently I was water hunting and it flooded. I contacted Ian at Minelab North America and he gave me a RMA # to send it in. Two weeks later the unit was replaced for $349.00 with a brand new one, with a 3 year warranty. I could have bought any machine but the Nox 800 is still # 1 imo! I would have bought the Nox 900 or manicore if they had the 50 tones. I like the extra features these machines have but I am hearing RUclipsrs grumbling about missing the 800 and it's fabulous tones. I find too much gold to want to change from the 800. Please update your information to reflect that Minelab is standing behind the Nox 800 and don't be afraid to dunk it in the water. They did right by me.
I adore my new Vanquish 540 Pro-Pack but you dont seem to like it sadly!!! for everything, Power, 2 X coils etc.... so many good stuff, Price Durability, and i detected metal stuff of 12 and 20 inches, water resistant +-3 feet and rain cap you can go under rain!, hundreds of setting, Qi Tecnology, so light and confortable with the S shaft, Bleutooth etc.. etc... I considere you as a Master exemple for real i am a 2nd degree Black belt so for me you are red belt 6th degree :) God bless you and your family ! Frank from the Deep North
Well, I'm going to have to continue to use my new-to-me Simplex+ to try and gather some big scores in order to try and fund an Equinox. Does anyone know if the new generation Simplex units, put up a better fight at the salts, or will newer software on the Simplex+ help?
I would disagree with taking the Minelab Xtera Pro off the list. As it actually runs very smoothly in salt water and in the surf. It's a lot better then the Simplex
This is noted. I have it and I will test it more. I used it on a loaded beach and I didnt trust it enough and I went for the sure thing. I will do target for target comparisons soon.
Yes - running a single freq metal detector on the beach was always a compromise-most had to turn down sensitive and add some noise suppression - which resulted in minimal depth. So to my surprise the Xterra Pro is showing lots of Depth and minimal noise even in surf. I wonder if the beach mode which says it is running 8 kHz is in fact mixing two frequencies so working as a multi frequency aka CZ21 which uses 5 kHz and 15 kHz both frequencies are built into the Xterra Pro - thoughts and maybe some nyc beach side by side comparisons?
Hi Merril! Love you're work! Please help me out... I'm detecting now for maybe a year or two on fields and stuff but as i am from the Netherlands i would like to go to the beach more often. At he moment i found a total of just over 400,- euro's and i would love to by a detector with the money i found. But in the video you take away the two i had in mind to choose from!😅 they show good results on youtube on the beach but i don't realy trust those guys finding gold the whole day... So would you take one of them to the beach? Or would you advise me to keep hunting coins until i can afford an multy frequency machine? Ps i have a simple but VERRY effective Quest x10 but the brand "Quest" never pops up on you're channel or did i miss it? Its verry popular here in europe. Hope my spelling is ok🙈 greetings from Holland!😃👋
Thanks for the great video. I Purchased the Legend thanks to your videos and wedsite. Question: what settings should have the Legend on for a fresh water beach?
Those new 3d printed remote control boxes (left or right handed) they are selling now solve the upper portion of the D2 wire breaking problem. The remote will probably never slip off either due to the design of this box. Detectingdoodads makes the ultimate COIL charger for the D2 with a meter that ensures it is connected properly. YES XP needs to make a better WAVE Guide (the wire that allows underwater use). The WAVE GUIDE should be shorter, more-durable, black colored, able to run inside the shaft easily, and should attach better to the coil/remote control. Hopefully XP is researching a way to do away with the WAVE GUIDE. This could be theoretically done using modern material science albeit at a cost to the consumer (but for a $1,500 machine it should not have this problem)! At least you can update the firmware now with an Apple Computer! Great review!
ouch! my shoulder hurts from swinging that excalaber 2 out of the water. super slow. but in 3 feet plus i love the easy control knobs and i dig everything from gold to hair clips so i gott alot of junk. people complain about the deus but why not take a backup on that trip? overland detecting has got to be light and fast. turkish detectors vs austrailian? america needs to step it up

Great video Merrill. I use the Deus II and I’ll throw you a curve, I have a Tarsacci MDT8000 as my backup. I think the Manticore is a great machine as is the Legend, but for me personally, I can’t see a good reason for jumping ship for another model. BTW, I’ve owned well over 20 machines over the years, but I don’t keep them, when they are outdated I sell them, however, I agree with you on the Excalibur II. Though I loved the Sovereign, I couldn’t get used to the Excalibur headphones, they sounded dead and muffled to me. May work great under water, I don’t know, I’m not a diver. I sold “old blue” about a year after I bought it and went to the CTX. Ruined my shoulder lol.
Even today standards the Sovereign machines are very hard to beat on a beach. I watch guys non-stop digging bottle caps with there Equinoxes waisting time while I am digging gold with my Sovereign Elite.

Hey Brian. Yes, I agree. There is another level that the Manticore is capable of.
For what it's worth, I have an Xterra pro, just started beach detecting a couple months ago and found my 11th ring yesterday, frequently dig good deep targets in the surf, including a silver ring about 10inches down recently.
Yep, the Xterra Pro is a very good machine on saltwater beaches even though it's not multifrequency.
I use the Manticore, I think their numbers will grow when it becomes more readily available
Yes! Outstanding machine.
Excellent video! I've been using a Nox 800 for 2 years and have had great success. There was a lot to learn at first but worth it.
Havent upgraded from my nox 600 in 5 yesrs. It beeps, i find some descent stuff. Its hard to justif buying expensive detectors. Id probably find more bottle caps . Lol
You are fine with the 600!
nox for me! and now 4khz for silver in parks... - in fl of course
Thank you so much!
well my friend Merrill,I took the plunge I gat a deus 2, after using the deus 2 master for a year,I was probably the first to use the deus 2 master,I just had to do it. a very well built detector, great video highly informative, thank you for a great video.
I really like my little black Garrett backpack! Does that count for anything ?
I Chose the nox900 thanks to your opinion and I can't wait to give her a try at OOB Maine next week all week!!!
Last year I wouldn't go near the water because whites had long since stopped replacing my leaky Beach hunter ID and i kept this one dry only!!
My other detector was the minelab xplorer that fell out of the back of my cubetruck with doors open somewhere from the kennybunk rest stop to Boston LOL!!!! congrats if you found it and are enjoying it!
Thanks for the videos!!
I love the 900! It's a great machine.
Good luck!!
Take a look at the Golden Mask 7 metal detector. I just ran across this recently and it looks interesting. Not for beach probably but maybe for parks
Merrill, you are a great resource! Thank you very much for all your work. I have purchased a Minelab 540 using your advice. I’ll let you know how I do.
Good stuff 👍
Merril thanks for the video mate! It's always great to you see making Awesome content!
Hi Buddy Great video I have tested the Deus 2 Johns Detecting Adventures
Wow! Alot of great info! Am still with AT Pro from Garrett, works everywhere and I'm happy as hobby detector😊Love your videos!❤
Thank you!
Be interesting to see how the Rutus versa does with it's beach duel program and the depths it will go on the beach :)
They are not selling to the United States.
I owned a 800 equinox awsome 😎 machine...cant wait to go back.out.there.next week😅
Minelab manticore
Thank you Merrill for sharing this awesome content
Glad you enjoyed it!
Well done Merril! This is some great info!
Glad it was helpful!
This was a great vlog
In-depth enough to make you want more information (iratemetaldetectors)
My wife was listening and her words not mine he'd make a good teacher.
(She now knows lol)
As always thank you liked and shared
Regards Tony
Thank you Tony!
Merrill, thank you so much for your exceptional, educational metal detecting videos.
Thank you!
Hey we saw our name ❤. Thanks brother. Great video. Need to get Amy a legend or a cheaper Nox. I have come to the same conclusion that the Xterra Pro is just not great on the beach. Well done
Thank you!
Just bought a Legend. I live in Estero, Fl.. will try it out today on Bonito Beach.
Appreciate the detailed answers Merrill. I’ve been contemplating my next MD. So I’m closer now after this video today and the one Calabash did a couple of days ago! All good details to consider!
Happy to help!
I love to use my equinox 900 on the salty water beaches in Italy
Hi there,, I find your explanations of the various technologies very helpful to me,, and I have 48 years of detector experience! Well done sir!
I use my Deus !! at the beach. I canceled my Manticore order. I love my Deus 11.
Totally honest review merrill , yes folks thats what happens when your not bought and paid for ! 👍👍
Thank you!
I’m just glad I found a sale when I pre ordered Deus 2 as I paid 1250$ after tax.
Thank you
You change the Simplex coil, you change the frequency. It is valid for all detectors... After that, settings from scratch. Good luck.👍
I'm leaning more towards the Minelab Equinox 700 as I feel its the Best bang fort the Buck for me.
I had the 600 and the 800. Yes more customization and bells and whistles, a gold mode and an extra frequency. but there was no difference in capability. You’re on the right track with the 700
Nokta double score seems interesting idk if was out yet tho
Love my fisher 1265 great on dry sand
Minelab sovereign elite very cheap 220 quid brilliant on beach
Excalibur 2 just love it expensive but goes deep and ignore iron also the sovereign the same can always tell foil every time and also bottle tops might try the legend will watch a few videos maybe next year
Jeeves!!!! I forgot about that. Nice one 🤣😭
That is quite an endorsement Jaime! Perhaps someday I will give it a try. I just tried to see if I could get one used.
ebay has them for about 750.00 to about 800.00 dollars
Merrill, have you ever detected in Flushing Meadows Corona Park?
I haven’t actually because it is mostly fill dirt. Fascinating history there though.
Thank you for sharing the knowledge..🇬🇧🇺🇸
Well it’s definitely worth the price trust me
Maybe its the detectorist using it.
Thank you for making such valuable videos! What finds pouch do you use?
Thank you! This one: amzn.to/3rP0waG
Great review, I live in Michigan, but want saltwater capability (including in the water). This review helps me to make a solid choice.
I am happy that it helped!
Thank You ...
Watch this: ruclips.net/video/i-dADhLV_PQ/видео.html
Hey mates, not sure which detector I should buy... Nox 800, deus2 or manticore... Need help, please.
Again awesome video with great analysis!
Ace Apex and Csope Cs4pi does for me on the beach😊
I've recommended the Vanquish to a couple people as a starter / beach detector. Merrill keep your ears open for reports of the Manticore leaking. I've come across a couple stories of flooded Manticores. A story or two isn't enough to say it's actually a problem, but if it's a trend ... yikes. Yes, I'm a fan of the Apex on the beach, but of course you are bang on in your assessment of it. :)
Awesome video man!
Peace
Wow! Tracker 4??? In fairness I haven’t tried a bounty hunter since my second detector.
I don’t live by a beach so have not put it in water yet
Thanks for the info
Does Minelab 700 do gold? I want a detector for the beach but also gold in mountains where I live
When you say not to submerge the Equinox 600/800, do you mean don't submerge the 'control head' or the 'coil'?
The control head. The coil will be fine.
Thanks again Merrill.
Wow! Quite an endorsement. I used it but to say it is Nox level is shocking to read. I will have videos coming out on it.
I agree with your comments about the Xterra Pro.
Thanks Merrill
I have a ace 400 and will be going to the beach next year. I also hunt land will these be good for both?
I have a friend that recently purchased a Legend. I have the Apex and I buried a walking liberty half dollar at 10"., 3 years ago. My Apex saw it, his legend did not.
The Vanquish series is single frequency correct? I thought you said not good for the ocean beach?
no vanquish is SMF
Hi Merrill, it is now May 2024. I'm searching for the right metal detector. I wanna walk to the beach. Get in the salt water with it and not have to worry. where should I spend my money?
Thanks, Mike
There is a reason that I chose to become XP Metal Detectors second ambassador. After owning 23 detectors, do you think I would be willing to downgrade? The Deus 2 is the best detector I ever used hands down.
Thanks for sharing!!!!!
Thanks you so much, this video has helped me decide on the one.
Hi from Canada 🇨🇦 😊. What do you recommend for a 8 year old?
Capability and value XP Deus 2 WS6 Master. It’s $799 new and about half the price of the D2 remote unit and Manticore.
Yes!
Monterey Magnet Man is using an Equinox 900, it's nearly the same machine as the Manticore without the 2D display.
I’ll give it this. At first I was skeptical of the 50% more power. But there are no EMI issues with the Manticore.
Merrill,
I wanted to add some information regarding the Equinox 800.
A three year warranty makes all the difference, and makes that the best value I think.
Can u talk about fresh water lakes and beaches? Best detectors for fresh water detecting?
If you are doing fresh water all you really need is a Nokta Simplex or a Minelab XTerra Pro.
Thank you
I would disagree with taking the Minelab Xtera Pro off the list. As it actually runs very smoothly in salt water and in the surf. It's a lot better then the Simplex
I agree with @peterbicker8389.
This is noted. I have it and I will test it more. I used it on a loaded beach and I didnt trust it enough and I went for the sure thing. I will do target for target comparisons soon.
This is the detector I use and it works better on the beach than the field 🤣
Yes - running a single freq metal detector on the beach was always a compromise-most had to turn down sensitive and add some noise suppression - which resulted in minimal depth. So to my surprise the Xterra Pro is showing lots of Depth and minimal noise even in surf. I wonder if the beach mode which says it is running 8 kHz is in fact mixing two frequencies so working as a multi frequency aka CZ21 which uses 5 kHz and 15 kHz both frequencies are built into the Xterra Pro - thoughts and maybe some nyc beach side by side comparisons?
I only got a Nokta Pulse Dive scuba detector but was flooded with saltwater recently.
Thank you Merrill for sharing with us.I enjoyed it very much.
Merrill? You Rock all things! N.t. nor cal,ca
😊
Great review!
ouch! my shoulder hurts from swinging that excalaber 2 out of the water. super slow. but in 3 feet plus i love the easy control knobs and i dig everything from gold to hair clips so i gott alot of junk. people complain about the deus but why not take a backup on that trip? overland detecting has got to be light and fast. turkish detectors vs austrailian? america needs to step it up
America (Garrett) definitely does need to step up their game.
Merrill I miss Adel are you going to Dead Horse Island in an upcoming video?? I hope she has been in good health. I love your beach metal detecting video's
Yes! I need to go back soon!
I'm still waiting for them to Mudlark The River Thames. they were supposed go last year with the donations they collected.
@metaldetectingbrooklyn9896 yea right before travel is restricted. I can't wait to see Adel in London. I love her True NY attitude ❤️❤️

I was shopping for a 5 year old for a metal detector how short vanquish can get I want to get a good one for beach hear in Cape Coral
