    Love my set up from Steve. He does spend time to know your needs and work with you. I had him make a custom lower end length rod that fits in my travel case yet didnt effect my overall length. I also have the counter balance but found that my elbow would hit the edge of the cylinder when swinging and Steve made me a small roughly 2" shaft extension to push the weighted cylinder back, now it's perfect for me. You do get use toe the extension after awhile. Great info in this video, much appreciated!

      Thank you for the view and awesome comment! I have another Equinox 800 upgrade video coming out with the Jeff Herke arm cuff and one of Steve's red carbon fiber shaft counter weighted systems. Excited to try this arm cuff system, supposedly the best after market upgrade for the arm cuff. He has been in business for many years great reputation. Hope you will consider subscribing to the channel as well. All the best, Mark 🤠

    Could not agree more Steve is the best. That extra battery pack might be a little over kill. But I could see using it on a camping trip. Doesn't the stock battery run 12 hours?

    I’m in the uk Scotland and was wandering if it is possible to get the parts for the coil to strengthen them up and also the battery pack to be sent over to myself as I have an equinox 800

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  3 месяца назад +1

      I would think that you could get these from one of the big UK dealers but if not, maybe on ebay.uk. And if not, there are plenty of sellers on ebay USA that will ship to you. The coil cleat reinforcement parts are all 3D printed. If you still can't find these, send me an email at the email address that is in my description of all of my videos. I can see what I can find. Thank you for the view and comment/question! !

    nice design but the counterweight hitting you in the side is a deal breaker for sure for us... maybe designing the weight UNDER the armcup would be better?

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  2 года назад

      Yes, it's definitely awkward but it's just a optional accessory to give you perfect balance. Without the counterweight, it's still a fantastic upgrade! Thank you for the view and comment! 🤠⛏️

    Use the zip ties on the coil ear stiffeners because if the ears break you wont notice it and you can still use the detector

    You are swinging the 6 inch coil. Never used that yet. ?

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  Год назад

      It's great in the nails and trashy areas because it can hear the coins hiding (separation of targets) in them better than the bigger coils. Thanks for the view and comment!

    Nicely done video, thank you. The carbon shaft looks like a great upgrade. What is the benefit of the new arm cuff, lighter, stronger, etc?

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  2 года назад +1

      Hi John, thank you for the view and your kind comment! The purpose of the Cuff is supposed to help with 3 different shortcomings of the Minelab Equinox 800 design. 1. The base is too short and the machine is prone to flipping over. 2. The plastic used is rather flimsy and not as rugged as some wish. 3.The arm cuff strap is too small for most adult arms. These aftermarket designs are trying to address these known issues. Thanks again, hope you will subscribe! 🤠 Mark

    • @quadradomus
      @quadradomus 2 года назад

      I’ve never understood the benefit of even the original armcuff? So, you have to run your arm through this loop/cuff, every time you pick up or set down detector? I don’t use it at all. Less hassle.

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  2 года назад

      @@quadradomus I hear you on that... So your referring to just the arm strap? Yes, it's annoying, especially with a jacket on. I have many different detectors, from different manufacturers and whenever I can get away with it, I prefer not to use the arm cuff either. But if your detecting for as long as 6-8 hours each time you go out, (as I often do) the machine has to be perfectly balanced to get away from not using an arm cuff strap. Some machines are so unbalanced its just not possible as doing so just causes even more fatigue if you know what I mean.

    I think the counter weight is a good idea but flawed. Should get rid of the lead weights and replace with two lithium batteries and run wire up to the handle to plug charge cord to !

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  2 года назад +1

      Great idea!! That's thinking outside the box and maximizing the potential of the design. Thanks for the view and comment! Hopefully someone out there will see this and create a solution that will screw right onto the carbon fiber rod. 🤠

    do the 800s leak as much as everybody says

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  10 месяцев назад

      No, in fact it was a very rare occurance and was always related to torsional forces from swinging hard underwater or over tightening the screw below the pod (this was commonly done when changing over to aftermarket shaft systems). This was a huge priority at Minelab when they designed the new Equinox 900/700, X-Terra Pro and the Manticore. Thank you for your view and great question!

      True but heavier in the right places! The counter weight system is easy to remove if you prefer the weight of the coil. Looks better and stronger so it's a good upgrade tradeoff. 🙂

    Steve made me a custom shaft he bought me and made me a carbon fiber shaft and I love it with a counter weight on my back and that’s the best ride out there on the market I like it a heck of a lot better than I than I do detector it’s the only thing detector edge says that I like is the cup the cup the arm cuff he makes a good arm cut off I’ve looked at all that money Amazon and everywhere and they’re not near as good as the only thing I can say for detector edge I’m gonna buy one of his cups arm cuffs are pretty expensive they’re like $70 but he’s got the best cup out there that I’ve ever seen a coffee if you want to see it and Steve makes the best carbon fiber shaft Durango down I’m a personal friend of his so if you want a carbon fiber shaft that’s not the best shaft on the market and Steve does have FantaSteve asked for he has excellent customer service no doubt I’m like I said I’m a personal friend of his he made me a nice blue when he got all different colored you know fiberglass your ass with that with that counter weight on my back you can swing it all day long in your arm and wrist won’t get tired he stands behind everything he will give you every penny back if you’re not happy but I don’t think you’ll be sending it back because he’s I’ve had several of them from different people in his are absolutely the best night because he’s my friend but that is the absolutely truth he make some custom out of his house so definitely Steve’s detector rods and for the arm cuffs I think detector it’s got a real nice warm cup
