For tip 10, I used some spray foam to fill in the small holes on the bottom of the coil to minimize soil collection in the holes. It adds very little weight to the coil.
It degrades over time, turns orange and shrinks turning a horrible looking brow, colour. Takes a few years but i dont think i could honestly do that to my coil, i hate the stuff but fair play to you. If it works it works.
Thank you from NY, i've had a Garrett pro for two years and I just got the equinox 900, I'm fairly new, but I'm learning so much, being a musician I'm in tune with how the coil creates a kind of music that reflects these Artifacts ... My greatest fine was a musket ball from the revolutionary war, what was your greatest fine?
Thanks for watching! One of my best relic finds so far was a pressed tin plate showing the American eagle from the early 1800s, and I’m in Australia! My guess is that it came out with an early settler from the US…
Thanks for this, as I am just getting back into detecting. I started 10 years ago with a Garrat and then splashed out on a Deus, but couldn't get on with the sounds (horrible in my ears), so bought the 800. Coming back to it after a 3 year break, I find the 'handling' of this machine awful. The weight distribution is poor, the grip is anything but. Do you have any suggestions. I have seen S handles, but at 120£ it's rather expensive. I may try the Sure Grip to see if that helps, but right now, I am seriously considering swapping the whole package.
The Equinox 800 is definitely not the lightest machine - I upgraded the shaft for a carbon fiber version- it certainly improved the balance. The grip was improved with the 900 (unfortunately it’s not great on the 800). Ive not tried the S handles, but I’m sure they’d help quite a bit. The other option is a light-weight bungee to help take the weight off your arm/wrist. The other thing that I found made a difference was to swing in a figure 8 pattern (rather than side to side). This helps maintain momentum in your swing, whereas a side to side swing requires you to stop momentum in one direction before moving in the opposite direction…
I got a equinox 900 and I would get alot of chatter while detecting . I came across a video that let me know that I can't use the detector with a phone in my pocket, at least on airplane mode. This tip made a world of difference.
I had the same problem with my 900. Sent it back to minelab repair they checked the machine and coils and said there was nothing wrong with, got it back it still was erratic and chattering so I returned it to Kellyco. Wish I had kept my 800
If you use the WM08 module that comes With the Equinox 800, you can use any wired earbuds or headphones you prefer. All you have to do is pair the WM08 to the machine, and then plug your earbuds into the module and away you go! I use Apple wired earbuds and they’re great!
@@coilsandcoinsdetecting thank you for your response, I have a 700 which doesn't come with the module. While I have iPhone wired ear buds it seems like the module would cost more than buying low latency headphones.
Oh ok. Unfortunately the WM08 isn’t compatible with the 700. As you say, if you want earbuds you’ll either need low latency Bluetooth, or a transmitter that plugs in to the machine that has low latency capabilities.
I have the 700, how do you eliminate ranges? For example if i want to detect around loungers at a beach i dont want the detector to pick up the metal in the loungers how do i eliminate the lounger numbers that its detecting?
You can either reduce your sensitivity so you can get closer before the detector sees it, or you can find out what target ID the loungers are, and then go into the accept/reject menu and discriminate that out. Good luck!
Absolutely. When you go to the Minelab website with the update links, there is a Mac option. You may need a cable adapter though, as you'll need to use the Equinox charge cable with USB.
It’s about the sound of the tone more than the Target ID on the screen. I barely even look at the screen - I’m listening for the tone, and then if it sounds good I’ll check the screen…
I don't think I'll ever figure my 800 out. I just used it for the first time and something just didn't seem right. It seemed to get stuck on certain numbers, it would just stay on let's say 20 as I swung it, it would bleep as I passed over a tatget but it would just stay on 20 as I swung it. I did dig up 25 nails!
This machine sucks! After 3 months having it, I've only found 130 silvers! Only a hundred and thirty!!!! And the depth is accurate to about 10 inches, only 10????? The battery lasted 8 hours while on 1 outting......just not happy with it............ 😂
Very helpful. Been detecting for a while and always learning
I think we’re all learning…there’s always something new to take on board to improve our detecting journey!
Great tip about the individual factory preset 👍 Didn't know this until watching this clip. Top video again mate👌. Thanks
Just got a 600, looking forward to using great tips thank you
Good luck! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the effort of producing the videos for us all ,, much appreciated.
You’re very welcome!
Wow thank you so much. Really hard for me to manage which button when but will have to work on it
Great tips that are mostly different to others tips. Nice.

Nice video. Thanks for sharing from Illinois, USA. I just purchased one of these machines. Going to give it a whirl today.
Thanks for watching, and good luck!
Actual good tips. Thanks for the upload, mate
No worries mate! Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much. I understand my machine much better. Appreciate your sharing.

I learnt something new, thank you very much 👌

So very helpful.thank you so mucj.
Glad it was helpful, and thanks for watching!
Very well put together fella 👏👍
Thanks very much!
Thanks champ will give it a go tomorrow if it's not raining 🌧️🌩️🌧️⚡🌧️

I think it depends on the phone, as personally I’ve never had that problem. It’s interesting that it effects some people, but not others…

Brilliant video mate thanks, and subbed👍
Thanks for watching Dave! Welcome!
Great tips. Thank you much.

Did not know about Tip 2 Thanks
It's a handy one, that's for sure!
Can you recommend some brands of either wired or bluetooth ear buds?

Thank You from Canada,,,Really appreciate all your help,,,,
You are most welcome!
I use rubbing alcohol to clean charging contact
Wow I didn't even know that thing came off in tip 10. I'll go check it when I next go out. To the beach :P
Yep, make sure you take the skid plate off after every beach hunt and clean the coil, as the trapped sand will cause your machine issues!
Very helpful! Thanks :-)
You're welcome!
What settings make it detect the deepest?
For Tip 10 can we use water or no?
Yes, the coil is completely waterproof, so you should remove the skid plate and clean the coil off with a hose or under the tap.
@@coilsandcoinsdetecting thank you very much for the answer!!
FANTASTIC!
8:21, will AirPod pros 2 work?
That was good. Thanks!
You’re welcome!
Thanks. Guys
For coins in parks do headphones just make more noise? Aren't we just watching for what # appears on our screen?

This has happened to me on occasion - to clear this you simply press the detect/pinpoint button once, and it should be back to normal.

I’d be sending it back with results like that! Absolute waste of your hard earned… 🤣
I've got a fantastic tip if your thinking of getting a minelab equinox , DONT WAIST YOUR MONEY !
Haha why is that cant find anything?
waste
Found already lots of coins
Get real it is all about the operator and patience to learn the machine you are using
