though I had some problem with sea water It also ruclips.net/user/postUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn
OMG Hey guys - thank you so much for tuning in I watched your new gold find Wowo what a nice piece of Gold I was in a rush so I best head back and pop in a comment Cheers ;)
Bloody brilliant mate!!! I've been detecting for 4 years and haven't found gold. I took a mate with me once with his GPZ700 and he found gold in my spot. Now waiting on my tax return to buy a GM1000. Then eventually try and get a GPZ7000. Love your vids, that was the best comparisons of detectors I've seen. I detect in Whroo and in the area I detect it goes from 86-98% hot ground. Thanks again mate. 😁
Hi Craggles - thanks for watching and for the kind feedback. Yeah can be a challenge some days. The first ounce is always the hardest - well most times anyway - unless the ounce is found relatively quick by luck. But you'll get that nice grounds and will be the best fun after all of your persistence. Oh mate - yeah we battle those conditions almost every hour in the fields. Hot Cold Mild boom. Off we go again. Enjoy your week M.G
Excellent job, I really appreciate that you didn't try and sell the detectors you let them speak for themselves on what each was and wasn't capable of, nice and honest ........
Love the fact that you've done so much detecting that your pick has worn down. Great content as usual. The only thing wearing out now during covid, is my mouse button.
Great videos! Only just getting into gold prospecting and there is a massive sea of conflicting i formation. How would the Equinox 800 and Gold Monster 1000 compare for the West Australian goldfields?
Hi Curtis, thats fantastic news mate. Well done thanks for watching the videos and good luck on your journey. If you send me an email I would love to assist on those concerns ;) prominelabgold@gmail.com
Good work MG, well presented and very informative. I cant wait to see the depth test you do, and please include the setup of the detectors as you do the tests 👍 Keep up the awesome work mate. Catch ya soon 👌👍
Hi Stuart, thanks for tuning in mate. Always good to share some insight on machines Hope ya been out for a swing lately And good luck as always ;) Results will be documented mate
@@MinelabGold hey buddy, yes went out last weekend to dunolly got a 3.75g nuggie doing some roadside detecting. Heading out again this weekend so fingers crossed i will hit some more 😊 Catch ya soon, take it easy and happy hunting mate 👍
The help and info your giving out is definitely helping others I’ve certainly learnt a lot. A realise how much time is taken to put this stuff together. We are all very fortunate that you do this. Thanks again enjoy your week.
I really want to try out a Minelab machine. Was wondering if the CTX 3030 is any good on river gold finding here in Colorado? I actually like the SDC2300 or the GPX4500 and all I have heard. I have an XP ORX and a Nokta Makro Gold Racer PRO and need some depth and a machine to compliment them.
Hello Jeramiah, many thanks for watching. Sorr mate cant comment on SDC or CTX havent used them, if its gold youre chasing for depth you'd be best going any of the GP Range - GP GPX or GPZ if you go GP then 3500 would be best. If its small gold then maybe extra sensitivity with SDC or GM1000
My first metal detector was GPZ7000. My partner said that if I was going to swing a detector I might as well swing the best. After trying it out he decided to get 1 as well. He does have a GPX5000 and we both have an equinox 800. It took us 2 years to get the right settings for the Z. Now we pick up everything and it's an amazing machine.
Hello Deborah, thats fantastic. Yeah they are amazing machines the Zed's Yeah can take time to understand and tune in for various ground types. Well done and keep up the amazing efforts. M.G
Waiting to here your opinion on the Equinox 800. I just picked it up and wandering how it compares to the Gold monster 1000. Please keep up the good work.
Hi Steven, thats awesome mate - yeah I wouldnt think it would compare on the larger coil - the E800 would certainly out perform on depth compared to GM1000 As for sensitivity will certainly run some tests on the smaller coils though ;) Quite amazing smart machines ;) Looking forward to those tests to show you guys ;) Been very wet lately so hoping to get a break in the weather to allocated days for testing
Hi Ricky, usually the grounds will tell you which settings to run with. In saying that each operator has their own approach. Some like it super stable and some can handle ground noise. Good luck and certainly punch a bit more through it. ;) Thanks for watching ;) Enjoy
Your explanation is spot on mate and highly informative. Every machine has good and bad points to a degree in field use and as you say the high end Z7000 has the added fast processor minimizing previous Gpx user discretion ground noise with mimimal coil change between large/small nuggets etc. The Gpx series needs the right coils and right timing settings for a given area of mineralization, but someone knowing or mastering these variables while using the right coils on a 3500 upwards will find gold with right coil(s) and timings for the particular level of mineralized target search area one is in. Cheers and thanks
Hey hey Geo Sid, thanks mate. Yeah amazing how all machines have pro's and cons and used best for their strengths, keeps us busy thats for sure. As always thanks for watching and good luck. M.G
Hi. Can you explain again please ground noise handling with the gpz? You say it gets more ground noise with tree roots but it balance the noise out or you dig sometimes tree roots? How about charcoal? I have problems with the whites TDI and old camping fire places but only that... can the gpx balance out charcoal or it does even not give a signal?
Hi Mendoza, that's a great question. GPX can balance out charcoal, GPZ so far we are yet to get false signal from Charcoal. GPZ seems to get more false signals than GPX from Tree Roots and we just use side side swing away from the tree to check this. Rather than swinging parallel with the tree. Hope that makes sense, swing from the tree outwards rather than across the tree root. Ahh yeah we still dig many false signals from tree roots but many times we cant walk away because they give us all the signs of an actual target response. Somedays I dig no ground noise and some days I dig 20 ground noise false signals. Just what we do in detecting. Hope that helps and good luck
Hi Minelab Gold, I am new to detecting and would like to make a trip to Australia in the near future with my GPX 4500. You mentioned that you do some instruction and I would like to know more about that? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Mike
Hi Mike, thanks for watching. Thats correct we hold field training days. You can send an email anytime. My email is in the about tab on my main RUclips channel page.
What's the best detector/coil combo to ignore led shot size targets in the first 1-2 inches of ground? I'd rather miss some small gold and not have to dig 100 led shots a day.
Great advice i was going to upgrade my gpx 5000, to a 7000 But now I'm thinking of getting a big evo coil for the 5000 and purchasing a goldmonster 1000, and having a combination pair of detectors Thanks
Hi Brian - apologies on the delay - I missed your comment so sorry Yeah its always good to show some comparisons for new operators ;) Sometimes we get asked which machine is best or which machine should I buy Personally if its gold as primary target then GP GPX GPZ would be the go to And for small gold recovery would be GM1000 and SDC - but they still get big gold not quite as deep And thanks so much for the Sub ;) Awesome
Wow what a fantastic insight I run the 4500 with the 11 and 14 elite coils what you have just explained makes a lot of sense and I will now start using the settings a lot more cheers.
Hi Mal, thats awesome mate - ground noise is something which just takes a lot of hard work to overcome variances, strategies to identify and settings to help with either sensitivity and depth Good luck mate - and thanks so much for tuning in again
Hi Brian - Thanks so much mate and also for the Sub I'm glad you found the channel and Subbed and hope you enjoy some vids Early stuff was a little under quality but hey progression is quite fun Happy Hunting Mate ;)
Hey MG, sorry couldn’t get the live feed last night, was camped up out in the bush at Marybough, to low a signal through the phone, good sig tonight, able to watch on iPad, thanks for putting out this info, and yes the extreme coil on the SCD means I’m not digging buckshots all the time, which is good.
Hi Rob thats awesome mate, yeah sometimes we need to sacrifice sensitivity for depth As always thanks so much again for your support ;) Means a lot mate
Hi John, great question, they both have pro's and cons - same as all coils. Sensitivity and Grounds Coverage. Small coil more sensitive Larger Coil better grounds coverage less sensitive. But with the GM1000 coils, we check with gold sizes to test the sensitivity. I've found gold with the 5 Inch that doesnt register on the 0.000 triple zero scales. We test with the target on top of the coil until we cant hear it anymore and this provides us with which is more sensitive to small gold. Hope that kind of helps, I use the 5 Inch always because this machine is utilized for me for sensitivity.
Hey there I'm looking to get into gold hunting .I bought an Ali express unit for $70 and it was a fun entry toy ..I only Wana buy 1 real decent machine ..my main searches will be on beaches for lost jewelry at depth and big black sand deposits on white sand beaches to potentially sluce flakes ..I'm happy to spend $1500-3000 but can't see justification in spending more ..what machine would u recommend ..from the hours of videos I've watched the bounty hunter units seem to be good value for money ...I will likely hit grassy parks to..cheers Louis
Wow.....what a lot of information to digest....thankyou. The only question I would like clarified please is whether, say, the Gold Monster will find big nuggets? It probably seems like a dumb question.... Cheers. Peter Euston.
Hi Peter, apologies on the delay mate. Sometimes RUclips doesnt send me notifications for comments. In regards to that yes any detector - well almost any will find big gold nuggets. It just comes down to depth. So put 1 ounce on the top of the ground and the further you bury it will be getting harder to find with small coils and smaller machines. Hope that helps - so far with GM1000 we have found 3 grams at roughly 6 inches. Along with 100's of very small sub sub gram gold - and some which doesnt even register on 0.000gram scales. Almost paper fine on the target - so if there was a piece of paper on top of the gold it wouldnt find it - thats how small some of the pieces we have found with the GM1000 - very very sensitive machine.
Hi Mr Minelab, what I would like is some of your knowledge on the battery life of on each of your collection, especially the GM 1000 as it seems to use a smaller battery, how many spare batteries does one need for a days detecting?
Hi Kevin, thanks for watching. And a great question as well. With each machine the battery life will depend on how mineralized the grounds are. Or how many targets you run across during the day. For example each target takes more life from the battery depending on how many times you swing the coil across the target, compared to if you just had the machine running constantly with no detecting. That being said see below - I charge GPX4500 and GPZ7000 after a full 8 hour detecting day. I have never needed to have 2 batteries for these 2 machines just simply charge each night before the next day out. Sometimes even after a 4 hour detecting day I will charge them again. I have 2 batteries for GPZ though because I have ran one fully flat from a full day. GP3500 I always had 3 batteries because they are the smaller size ones when I upgraded from the original large batteries they had when first released. GM1000 this thing last an incredible amount of time. Sometimes from 3 to 5 days depending on how much work it gets. But Minelab also supply the standard battery pack along with a pack which you can put your own AA batteries into. E800 is quite similar this thing last for days as well. I guess the other question would be if you don't have access to charge in remote areas as often as we have when coming home each day then adding additional batteries to your kit would be very handy. Say if you look to camp out with solar charge then I would definitely have a minimum of 2 battery packs. Hope that helps. Cheers M.G
Excellent work thanks for the info started with the 1000 definitely a starting machine taking budget in the mix ,you are definitely correct the machines are 10% the more you put in to the search the more you can get back. Cheers again mate HH GM.
Hi Gerard, cheers buddy Yeah absolutely - I think many operators get that thought Gold Map + Gold Detector = Find Gold But many things along the journey which helps Happy Hunting ;)
Hi Ross, thanks for watching. Nah those big coils the plugs arent matching to GM1000. Also not sure about the changing the plugs if the coils would work either.
What a great video mate it was the most informative video on operating metal detectors I've ever watched! I'm trying to saving my pennys and hopefully I'll be out there soon with a minelab detector!!!! thanks for taking me along with you, stay well so you can keep saying " that's gold guys!"
Hi Again Dane, wowo you had a marathon of Minelab Gold Videos Thanks so much for watching. Was good to get some of these questions answered in this Video which I was asked from new operators. Hopefully it helps some people. And will certainly keep those adventures coming to keep the famous words "Thats Gold Guys" And same to you good luck with saving for a machine and getting out for some amazing adventures. Cheers M.G
Hi mg what would you suggest out of a sd2100v2 11inch dd or gpx4000 11 inch dd for deeper gram plus targets I use elites on the gpx most of the time but can't run them deep settings on the ground I'm on at the moment?
Hi Marcus - once again mate really appreciate the feedback Yeah hopefully get a few vids covering more on not just gold digs Gets hard to balance the content I guess Plus don't want to ramble on too much lol ;) Happy Hunting
great info mate my budget is a small one so i bought a monster 1000 have been out a few times in north east vic havent found any thing but rubbish with it , do you think the small round coil is best to use or the oval coil on it that comes in the box, , and do you think its worth taking to the golden triangle for a week detecting mate ime 550 km away from triangle and what depth is it capable to go sorry about all the questions mate but dont realy know were i can take it to use that suites it
Hi Peter, thanks so much for watching Yeah both coils work fine - however we use the GM1000 for its super sensitive capabilities Always using the 5 inch coil - but for operators who solely have GM1000 then absolutely both coils should be utilized - smaller coil would be more sensitive and the elliptical would gain a slight advantage on depth For sure any goldfields is worth taking the GM1000 because of its high sensitivity to small targets. Depth is also one of those things mate, the bigger the target the deeper it will find it. The GM1000 thrives on small gold targets which other machines can't find and also in areas with known reefs finding small specimens larger machines struggle based on the amount of gold in the specimen. Hope that helps
@@MinelabGold thanks mate i just got back from 4 days sluicing north east vic dident even get detector out of car as tryed around there heaps of times but you give me a bit more confidence so will next trip still trying to plan to go to the triangle hopefully mite find my first piece there fingers crossed keep up the good work mate
@@pkgoldopalhunting Awesome Peter - hope you had some great fun down here on your trip. ;) And will be sure to get some new vids out in between the lovely Victorian Weather ;)
Hi there and thanks alot for your efort and explanation by compering between those machines .. but i realy need your advice becuase am looking for areal good detector which can go deeper than 5 meters for treasuers and big peaces my land is full of gold and bree centuery barried gold iv tried gold scan and Gpa1000 but they wer rubish .. so if u can help with ur advice that will be great
Hi Mohammed, 5 meters is quite the depth. If you are detecting for a buried Truck maybe you will get it at 5 meters with GPZ or GPX. If you find a detector that detects treasures at 5 meters let me know as well. GPZ would be closer to 10 Ounces at 1 meter.
Im thinking of an SDC 2300 current backpack model, to the latest GPX 4500. I can get the GPX 4500 for half the cost, so is portability worth 2500$ between the two. Im in British Columbia, not so much Fe rich Soil. Mostly arounds creeks and high banks from there. Not the luscious Auzzie golddfields we over here dream of visiting one day.... Great Channel!
Hey hey Danlz - many thanks for watching. Oh there would be a couple things to consider, ground type, is it underwater you need and if its mostly small gold then SDC would be perfect for those conditions. And it still gets ok depth. SDC I say would be more user friendly for beginners. GPX will still get small gold with certain settings to achieve better sensitivity then the addition of a small coil, and also excellent depth with certain settings and big coils for big deep targets. Some coils arent submersible but they do make a water submerse coil for GPX if it is needed to do some underwater stuff, just cant put the control box underwater. Hope that helps me personally GPX for what I need it for. Enjoy and good luck on your hunts
@@MinelabGold Thanks for the feeback. I have decided on the 2300 finally. It will suit my needs better n the long run and I like that theres not many buttons to learn. Very strightforward operation and its clearly very good at what it does. Portability is very important to me too. thanks again.
Thanks for these videos mate! I'm new to your channel and I've learned a lot from a whole heap of your previous vids and this one too. Much appreciated for sharing such valuable information. Keep up the excellent work ;)
What is the best gold detector for depth? I have a friend that owns land that believe they might have some Japanese gold and treasures. they are in the Philippines. There is also a lot of gold in these areas that will not be as big as the treasures. what type of detectors would you recommend? for the two different applications.
Hi Rob, apologies on the delay. depends on the settings you run between GPX and GPZ for depth but it would be GPZ7000 if utilized correctly. If the treasures are closer to surface then most machines would work well.
Hey Minelab gold, you wouldn’t be on prospecting Australia under the same name? If so thank you very very much for all the information you’ve shared on the forum AND on RUclips! I’m just starting out and saving for a gold monster so far it’ll be a fair while away haha!
Hi Michael, that's awesome good luck with the venture into the wonderful world of prospecting and metal/gold/junk detecting ;) Glad you enjoy the posts and videos. Enjoy
Im such a beginner I bought a mineleb vanquish 440. Knowing absolutely nothing I figured splashing out is not a good idea for now plus Im poor so I bought what seemed to be the best in my price range.
Hi Bruce, apologies that video never made YT its on my Patreon. Tested GPX and GPZ with 4 Ounce. Thanks for watching and hope you have a great New Years.
Hi Brian - sorry mate I have only ever used Minelab Machines I'm pretty sure there would be many AT Garett operators on RUclips though Sorry I couldnt help out on that one - My Bad Thanks for watching - and Happy Hunting ;)
Def the best video yet on Minelab comparisons. Well done. I have a GPZ 7000. Love it. Still learning even after 1 year. Can you do a video on your ideas and thoughts on how you ferrite balance? Would be good to see. And maybe a 6inch coil on a 800 vs a GM too sometime down the line. Cheers
Hi Swiftrick, Oh cheers mate - absolutely will see what we can do And sure will see what comparison we can do with 800 and GM1000 The ultimate test for small machines/coils is sensitivity/depth to small gold
Hi Minelab’s gold. Great vids. I have an old gp extreme which I may setup for big deep gold in noisey ground. 19-25 double d. What do you recommend. I also use a 5000. Value your opinion. Keep up the good work
Hi Paul, thanks for watching the Vids and glad you like them. Oooh gotta love the old school beasts, GP many memories and great finds. I would say great to utilize the machine for that. Did you mean what would I recommend GP or GPX for that. Totally up to you both would run similar if GPX was tuned for it. DD Pulse Induction same same. Just extra tuning on GPX.
Minelab Gold was only thinking about the extreme. I have a 17x13 & 12” evo I use on the 5000 which work great however a bit noisey. Was only trying to keep the extreme going or should I just retire it and use a DD on the 5000 or give the dd a miss altogether and stay with a noisey, down tuned mono? The area has large deep targets. Cheers
I bought a 4500, I am just a beginner I took it for a swing around the Bendigo area for a week with no luck, the most frustrating thing about not finding that first piece is four and a half hr drive to get there witch is the nearest place too me
I didn't realise you had so many detectors or conducted training. With training, does it have to be a Minelab machine? Another thing, would you mind doing a video the same as your others but with the 7000?
Hi Damon, Thanks as always for watching ;) Nah not at all mate - majority of training is GP GPX GPZ SDC GM1000 But can be any machine and we go through many things You could say catered for any operators current abilities and what they feel they need mostly during the training. Some operators need advanced settings, ground types, with settings on how to change and when Where as other operators feel they need more on grounds, sounds, techniques, strategies Some we help more with grounds reading. So yeah just really depends on what the current level is Hope that helps, by all means shoot through an email. prominelabgold@gmail.com Of course I can do a video in fields using the GPZ mate - ;) Be fun to get it out for some action
Wow the guy that went out for a couple years and never found gold must have thought that 30oz piece was just a coke can at first than got one of the biggest rush of a lifetime 😀💥 awsome video M.G and that was really cool seeing that old 3500 as well👍👍👍👍👍👍
The best detector for finding gold nuggets is the GPZ 7000 without a doubt, & when you have finished finding gold with the ML 14" coil whack on a few of the Russian made X coils & it is game on again. John from New Zealand. :)
Regarding the 7k....I had one...I sold it... Heavy as buggery...very good on flyshit.....dynamite on specimens...but misses gold.....over a cleared area (half foot taken off with a grader) the equivalent of 3 footy ovals....I found 12 ounces with the 7k.....going over with my 4500...I found an other 8 ounces that the 7k missed.....
Would love to hear your thoughts comparing the X terra 705 to other Minelab VLF's for prospecting with similar sized coils when applied as a back up to a high end Pulse induction unit. VFL vs PI is obviously a case of horses for courses as they perform and behave very differently. The reason I ask is I am relatively new and inexperienced to detecting though have some industrial & basic scientific knowledge of how eddy currents and therefore metal detection works in general and I was hopeful the 705 would fill that basic VLF niche for prospecting with the right coils.
Hi Brett - thanks for watching - nah no reason. Just been Coiltek for almost 20 years now And the release of the Elites were quite special compared to DD Pro's NF's and Coiltek are both great products As always cheers and enjoy your Day/Night and week ahead M.G
Hi Dominic, cheers mate. As always great to read your comments Yeah its such a versatile machine the 45 Yeah its always good to utilize the coil for its intended purpose
Thanks a lot for the info mate, really good straightforward video. I've been considering options on getting into a new small business (under 10k). At the same time I've been wondering about getting into gold detecting. I live in Cairns and have heard there's plenty of gold up here. After watching your video it struck me: I could purchase say a GPX4500 or GPX5000 and a Goldmonster 1000 and get serious about it straight away!!!! Is there still plenty of gold up this way?
What I would like to know is how can i get a GPZ 7000 for the price of GPX4500???? LOL! totally agree that only about 10% is the detector! Although my buddies with their 7000s find a lot more gold than I do with my monster over the same ground! GPZ is an AMAZING machine!! Great informative video!!!!
Hi Marty - thanks mate - yeah the Zed will certainly get exceptional targets, no comparison to the GM - but the comparison to sensitivity on super small targets would be hands down GM1000. Oh if I find a GPZ for same cost as 4500 I will let you know. ;) And thanks for watching ;) Talk soon buddy
Hi Tezzasbigbuz - thanks for watching. To answer in short yeah mate it's worth the cost. Very successful machine over many years. ;) Enjoy your week ahead M.G
Great video man. I have a few questions: What if I am looking for gold nuggets around the size of 1cm or bigger, and up to 0.5m - 1m deep. What is the best frequency for that kind of depth and size of nugget? Grounds could be sandy/rocky or mineralised most likely.
GPZ7000 for ultimate depth if used correctly. Coil size for bigger deeper targets at those depths you would be thinking half ounce up to 20 ounces. Coke can size at 1 meter. GPX with right settings and coil size will punch great depth as well.
Pretty good sum up, but just wanted to say a few things. 1. Yep I loved the 3500 as well. And yep, the 15" Detech runs great on it. 2. Sensitive on the 3500 is the same as Sens Extra on the GPX's 3. The Salt timing is the same in all GP and GPX series, apart from Salt Gold on the 5000 - that is different. 4. Where's the SDC2300 :-) 5. 4500 with a DD will run just as good as the 3500 (but with more fine tuning options) and will handle hot ground as well as the GPZ (depending on settings on both machines) Cheers
Thanks for the previous advice about video editing apps mate. I decided on a free version for now and made my first clip..... Bit rough 😂 but hopefully they will get better down the track 🍺
Like most people here I believe this is one of the more important videos put out on the tube for detectorists. Wish I had seen it before buying my 5000. I love my 5000 to bits now and probably won't part with it ever, but in hind sight, I should've bought the 7000! I had doubts about a few things with the 7000 but it was the weight that troubled me the most, swinging it for 8 hours or more a day........ I thought it would perhaps kill me. Well, they said the 5000 was a bit weighty but I don't even notice it now - at all. Wish I'd met you and this vid a couple of months ago. Oh well, me and my 5k will be getting out there and doing it pretty soon I hope. In the mean time I'll be learning as much as I can and vids like this help so so much. Thank you MG, brilliant :)
Oh thanks mate - very much appreciated. Yeah it really is a personal preference, all of those machines find gold as you know some find smaller stuff far better than others and on the opposite side of the coin some find bigger deeper targets better. I guess also maybe not much sense buying a GPZ7000 if new operators can only manage to get out a few days per year. The 4500 and 5000 are dynamite - awesome on all levels of gold detection small and large. And yeah thats awesome - get that 5k out swinging mate. Truly are awesome the GPX - after running certain tests with GPX and GPZ depending on settings GPX will find gold the Zed can't and vice versa ;)
@@MinelabGold Cheers MG for your reply. Looking forward to being out there for a couple months at a time once I'm sorted. I just cannot wait, but have a bit of stuff to complete before I go. Your vid is gold mate, especially for me, so thanks again :)
@@2Qwk2C My Pleasure - your continued support and feedback over time has been such a great help ;) And good luck when you get out, I'm sure we'll chat before then but in the meantime. Be safe and well ;)
Hey I just subscribed 👍👍 im in the NT looking at getting my first machine, do you think the gold monster 1000 would be start or is there to much iron in the red sand?
Hi Gary, wow thanks for the Sub mate. In regards to the red sand up your way not sure how much Iron content it has in it. Maybe you could check with magnet ;) For rich red dirt with iron content can be challenging with such a sensitive machine like the GM1000 - just takes time to get used to the way the machine talks to you with the grounds. To be very honest I'd go for something a little bigger. Its easy for me to say that though, really comes down to goldfields, gold size, depths, budget, how often you would detect The GM1000 is a good tool for operators who detect regularly to gain that extra sensitivity for small gold. Hey the GM1000 will get any size gold as long as its within the reach of the search field. For larger deeper targets we would use GP GPX GPZ Hope that kind of helps - and good luck
I used an SD2200D for many years and went to a GP3500 the best analog ever made and now since I could afford a GPX 4500 I got one in 2020 to start the gold year fresh, I got it for the sensitive small gold timing, the GP3500 is simply for deep over 1 gram targets ...... I do still love the SD2200D it has awesome ground tracking and amazing Discrimination and detects very deep too .......
A depth test on a 3 ounce nugget, I thought more a more realistic test would be in the range of 3 - 12 grams at different depths with the different detectors?
Great educational video and as always, very much appreciated! I've been using an SDC 2300 for a couple of years now and had fairy good luck finding over a dozen small nuggets in total. I love my SDC and won't part with it, however I've been umming and ahhhing about whether to get a GPZ as well. I actually got to try a friends GPZ on ground that I had already covered with the SDC. Sure enough I found a target way down in the ground and with the extreme precision that the Z possesses soon unearthed - a little rusty nail! Still a great exercise in testing the depth differences between the two machines. Your presentation here has covered so many of the nuances of the different detectors and coils as well as combinations. I'm now set to get that GPZ asap and hit some of the old areas that I've previously covered with the SDC. Thank you again!!
Hi Sean, thats fantastic mate. So good reading this comment. And yeah we know not all machines get the gold hey ;) - Just good being able to utilize machines or coils for what we are chasing. Zed is nuts haha ;) Enjoy your weekend ahead and good luck on your ventures. Cheers for your support too ;)
@@MinelabGold Many thanks again for your work and terrific videos. I'll be heading out for 5 or 6 days the following weekend after the Labour Day weekend here in NSW. Hope you have a great weekend too. Cheers Sean
though I had some problem with sea water It also ruclips.net/user/postUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

Thankyou so much for explaining the difference between the units and how to best use them.👍
Superb Video M.G explained very well
gotta love the mighty X and Z
Keep up the brilliant work
Big Hearts B.G many thanks
Ooooh yeah deadly machines for sure
Enjoy
Excellent job, I really appreciate that you didn't try and sell the detectors you let them speak for themselves on what each was and wasn't capable of, nice and honest ........
Love the fact that you've done so much detecting that your pick has worn down. Great content as usual.
The only thing wearing out now during covid, is my mouse button.
Hah that's awesome, thanks so much for tuning in. Good luck and enjoy ya end of long weekend. M.G
I cant wait to see the depth test you do, and please include the setup of the detectors as you do the tests 👍
Keep up the awesome work mate.
Catch ya soon 👌👍
Hi Stuart, thanks for tuning in mate.
Always good to share some insight on machines
Hope ya been out for a swing lately
And good luck as always ;)
Results will be documented mate
@@MinelabGold hey buddy, yes went out last weekend to dunolly got a 3.75g nuggie doing some roadside detecting.
Heading out again this weekend so fingers crossed i will hit some more 😊
Catch ya soon, take it easy and happy hunting mate 👍
The help and info your giving out is definitely helping others I’ve certainly learnt a lot. A realise how much time is taken to put this stuff together. We are all very fortunate that you do this. Thanks again enjoy your week.
Ah thanks so much Lozz - wowo 2 comments ;) Awesome
And I'm glad you learn some things which may assist
Same to you - Enjoy your Friday and Weekend ;)
Novice user with Equinox 800 watching your blog👍🇦🇺 it’s all about cost weight and learning!
Cheers Mate - Thanks for watching.
Yeah thats pretty much the important things
Cost, Weight, Location
What Targets operators are mostly searching
@@MinelabGold Thank you brother. Love your videos. Great detailed information.
And also the scanner sir..thank you for your answer
My first metal detector was GPZ7000. My partner said that if I was going to swing a detector I might as well swing the best. After trying it out he decided to get 1 as well. He does have a GPX5000 and we both have an equinox 800. It took us 2 years to get the right settings for the Z. Now we pick up everything and it's an amazing machine.
Hello Deborah, thats fantastic. Yeah they are amazing machines the Zed's
Yeah can take time to understand and tune in for various ground types.
Well done and keep up the amazing efforts. M.G
Whats your best gold setting for the equinox
Hi sir.. good day..i can't ask the questions..what is the best unit finding the gold treasure..like example in the Philippines.
Waiting to here your opinion on the Equinox 800. I just picked it up and wandering how it compares to the Gold monster 1000. Please keep up the good work.
Hi Steven, thats awesome mate - yeah I wouldnt think it would compare on the larger coil - the E800 would certainly out perform on depth compared to GM1000
As for sensitivity will certainly run some tests on the smaller coils though ;)
Quite amazing smart machines ;)
Looking forward to those tests to show you guys ;)
Been very wet lately so hoping to get a break in the weather to allocated days for testing
Steven gill hey Steven. Had a chance to test the E 800 yet? How was it?
Good info my area is very mineralised I was told to turn gain etc way down. Maybe I should turn it up a notch
Hi Ricky, usually the grounds will tell you which settings to run with. In saying that each operator has their own approach. Some like it super stable and some can handle ground noise.
Good luck and certainly punch a bit more through it. ;) Thanks for watching ;) Enjoy
With a Z 7000 if you do buy aftermarket new coil where would you start which is that your best choice for the Z 7000 thanks Kevin
Great advice i was going to upgrade my gpx 5000, to a 7000
But now I'm thinking of getting a big evo coil for the 5000 and purchasing a goldmonster 1000, and having a combination pair of detectors
Thanks
Awesome - apologies on delay. Well done Ryan and good luck
Hi,,,you would like to sell me your GPX 5000????
Very informative. Something in it for all- Novices & the experienced. Really enjoying your vids after recently subscribing. TY👍
Hi Brian - apologies on the delay - I missed your comment so sorry
Yeah its always good to show some comparisons for new operators ;)
Sometimes we get asked which machine is best or which machine should I buy
Personally if its gold as primary target then GP GPX GPZ would be the go to
And for small gold recovery would be GM1000 and SDC - but they still get big gold not quite as deep
And thanks so much for the Sub ;) Awesome
Really enjoy your videos MG, this one contains some very useful information. Thanks mate and keep them coming.
Hi Drew - thanks so much for tuning in mate.
And glad you got some useful info
Happy Swinging ;) M.G
Wow what a fantastic insight I run the 4500 with the 11 and 14 elite coils what you have just explained makes a lot of sense and I will now start using the settings a lot more cheers.
Hi Mal, thats awesome mate - ground noise is something which just takes a lot of hard work to overcome variances, strategies to identify and settings to help with either sensitivity and depth
Good luck mate - and thanks so much for tuning in again
No thankyou shortly I will join and become a Patron Cheers.
Very informative with someone for all (Novice & the more experienced) I am thoroughly enjoying your vids after recently subscribing. TY👍
Hi Brian - Thanks so much mate and also for the Sub
I'm glad you found the channel and Subbed and hope you enjoy some vids
Early stuff was a little under quality but hey progression is quite fun
Happy Hunting Mate ;)
Hey MG, sorry couldn’t get the live feed last night, was camped up out in the bush at Marybough, to low a signal through the phone, good sig tonight, able to watch on iPad, thanks for putting out this info, and yes the extreme coil on the SCD means I’m not digging buckshots all the time, which is good.
Hi Rob thats awesome mate, yeah sometimes we need to sacrifice sensitivity for depth
As always thanks so much again for your support ;) Means a lot mate
I’ve got a gm1000 monster and would like to know which coil would be best the 5” or the 10x7 any help would be great thanks
Hi John, great question,
they both have pro's and cons - same as all coils.
Cheers M.G
l came from desert area, actually kenya,l love to be a gold mine its my hope,l always love minelab product,,which machine is good for desert area
Magnificent video can’t wait to see the depth test for the gold monster 1000 to see how far it will punch down

Keen to see the depth test
Keep em comin mate

Hi Phil, Thanks mate and no probs at all
Always a good test to show operators
And enjoy your weekend ;)
Excellent work thanks for the info started with the 1000 definitely a starting machine taking budget in the mix ,you are definitely correct the machines are 10% the more you put in to the search the more you can get back.
Cheers again mate HH GM.
Hi Gerard, cheers buddy
Yeah absolutely - I think many operators get that thought
Gold Map + Gold Detector = Find Gold
But many things along the journey which helps
Happy Hunting ;)
What I really want to know is can I hook one of those big coils to my GM to get deeper larger nuggets?
Hi Ross, thanks for watching. Nah those big coils the plugs arent matching to GM1000. Also not sure about the changing the plugs if the coils would work either.
@@MinelabGold thanks, reckon I'll search how to make a coil and related stuff.
What a great video mate it was the most informative video on operating metal detectors I've ever watched! I'm trying to saving my pennys and hopefully I'll be out there soon with a minelab detector!!!! thanks for taking me along with you, stay well so you can keep saying " that's gold guys!"
Hi Again Dane, wowo you had a marathon of Minelab Gold Videos
Thanks so much for watching.
Was good to get some of these questions answered in this Video which I was asked from new operators.
Hopefully it helps some people.
And will certainly keep those adventures coming to keep the famous words "Thats Gold Guys"
And same to you good luck with saving for a machine and getting out for some amazing adventures. Cheers M.G
Hi mg what would you suggest out of a sd2100v2 11inch dd or gpx4000 11 inch dd for deeper gram plus targets I use elites on the gpx most of the time but can't run them deep settings on the ground I'm on at the moment?
Hi Tim, thanks for watching - shoot me an email and I will give you some pointers. ;)
My email is in the about section. Cheers

great info mate my budget is a small one so i bought a monster 1000 have been out a few times in north east vic havent found any thing but rubbish with it , do you think the small round coil is best to use or the oval coil on it that comes in the box, , and do you think its worth taking to the golden triangle for a week detecting mate ime 550 km away from triangle and what depth is it capable to go sorry about all the questions mate but dont realy know were i can take it to use that suites it
Hi Peter, thanks so much for watching
Yeah both coils work fine - however we use the GM1000 for its super sensitive capabilities
Always using the 5 inch coil - but for operators who solely have GM1000 then absolutely both coils should be utilized - smaller coil would be more sensitive and the elliptical would gain a slight advantage on depth
For sure any goldfields is worth taking the GM1000 because of its high sensitivity to small targets.
Hi there and thanks alot for your efort and explanation by compering between those machines .. but i realy need your advice becuase am looking for areal good detector which can go deeper than 5 meters for treasuers and big peaces my land is full of gold and bree centuery barried gold iv tried gold scan and
Gpa1000 but they wer rubish .. so if u can help with ur advice that will be great
Hi Mohammed, 5 meters is quite the depth.
Nice video, do you recomend other brands like Garret or Fisher? Regards
Thanks for these videos mate! I'm new to your channel and I've learned a lot from a whole heap of your previous vids and this one too. Much appreciated for sharing such valuable information. Keep up the excellent work ;)
Hi 777 - thanks so much for tuning in and I'm glad you enjoy the channel.

How much of a difference is there between the 4500 and the 5000
What is the best gold detector for depth? I have a friend that owns land that believe they might have some Japanese gold and treasures. they are in the Philippines. There is also a lot of gold in these areas that will not be as big as the treasures. what type of detectors would you recommend? for the two different applications.
Hi Rob, apologies on the delay. depends on the settings you run between GPX and GPZ for depth but it would be GPZ7000 if utilized correctly. If the treasures are closer to surface then most machines would work well.
Ok I think I have found gold but it's in the form of dust. Can you please tell me which one will be best to find it. Please and thank u
Sir can you please advice me on longer range gold detectors,
Good explanation. I hope to get out there soon with a GPX
Thanks Greg, good luck mate and thanks for watching.
Hey Minelab gold, you wouldn’t be on prospecting Australia under the same name? If so thank you very very much for all the information you’ve shared on the forum AND on RUclips! I’m just starting out and saving for a gold monster so far it’ll be a fair while away haha!

Cheers
Hi Swiftrick, Oh cheers mate - absolutely will see what we can do
And sure will see what comparison we can do with 800 and GM1000
The ultimate test for small machines/coils is sensitivity/depth to small gold
Cheers
@@paulg4080 Oooh nah for sure utilize the extreme for deep DD ;)
Minelab Gold what DD would you recommend?
Great vid bro! Luv all the info on the different units and how they operate 👌, go the mighty monster 😉.
Oh Cheers LDC - Thanks for watching
Yep she's a mighty machine the GM hey bud
Superb finds with that little beast

Thank you so much for the info and answering a much asked Q. You rock.
Hi Joey, Once again thanks for tuning in mate
Glad you liked the Vid - Enjoy ;)
how to search a new area ie search pattern how to search an area do i just walk around or do i grid ect if i haven’t found gold in that area yet
Hi Damon,
Thanks as always for watching ;)
Nah not at all mate - majority of training is GP GPX GPZ SDC GM1000
But can be any machine and we go through many things
You could say catered for any operators current abilities and what they feel they need mostly during the training.
Some operators need advanced settings, ground types, with settings on how to change and when
Where as other operators feel they need more on grounds, sounds, techniques, strategies
Some we help more with grounds reading.
So yeah just really depends on what the current level is
Hope that helps, by all means shoot through an email. prominelabgold@gmail.com
Of course I can do a video in fields using the GPZ mate - ;) Be fun to get it out for some action
Wow the guy that went out for a couple years and never found gold must have thought that 30oz piece was just a coke can at first than got one of the biggest rush of a lifetime 😀💥 awsome video M.G and that was really cool seeing that old 3500 as well👍👍👍👍👍👍
hi minelab gold,im a new in mining world,do u have a recommend for the gold detector under 500?
The best detector for finding gold nuggets is the GPZ 7000 without a doubt, & when you have finished finding gold with the ML 14" coil whack on a few of the Russian made X coils & it is game on again. John from New Zealand. :)
Hey Johnny, thats fantastic mate. You got it all in one. Supreme machine the mighty ZED.
Regarding the 7k....I had one...I sold it...
Heavy as buggery...very good on flyshit.....dynamite on specimens...but misses gold.....over a cleared area (half foot taken off with a grader) the equivalent of 3 footy ovals....I found 12 ounces with the 7k.....going over with my 4500...I found an other 8 ounces that the 7k missed.....
what is the other percentage?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge about these detectors for us beginners. Very informative video.👍
Hello Hank, thanks for watching and that's fine
Always good to share - enjoy your weekend. M.G
Awesome vid buddy, very informative for any beginners.
Thanks Travis - always good to share some insight on machines
As always Happy Hunting - ;)
Would love to hear your thoughts comparing the X terra 705 to other Minelab VLF's for prospecting with similar sized coils when applied as a back up to a high end Pulse induction unit. VFL vs PI is obviously a case of horses for courses as they perform and behave very differently. The reason I ask is I am relatively new and inexperienced to detecting though have some industrial & basic scientific knowledge of how eddy currents and therefore metal detection works in general and I was hopeful the 705 would fill that basic VLF niche for prospecting with the right coils.
Hey Minelab gold !
I’m looking to get a nice gold detector which one is the best for Search gold under 4 feet in the ground ?
With 3-D search
Thx 4 sharing
Any reason why you don’t use nugget finder coils?
Hi Brett - thanks for watching - nah no reason.
Just been Coiltek for almost 20 years now
And the release of the Elites were quite special compared to DD Pro's
NF's and Coiltek are both great products
As always cheers and enjoy your Day/Night and week ahead M.G
Very informative keep em coming just love the 45 , great to see and hear your explanation on some of the settings 👍👍👍
Hi Dominic, cheers mate. As always great to read your comments
Yeah its such a versatile machine the 45
Yeah its always good to utilize the coil for its intended purpose
4:45 nice tools brother..👉👏👏👏
What about if l want to buy one .where can l get Intouch with you
Thanks a lot for the info mate, really good straightforward video.
I’m about to go big with the gpx 4500 is it worth the money???
Hi Tezzasbigbuz - thanks for watching. To answer in short yeah mate it's worth the cost.
Very successful machine over many years. ;)
Enjoy your week ahead M.G
Great video man. I have a few questions:
What if I am looking for gold nuggets around the size of 1cm or bigger, and up to 0.5m - 1m deep. What is the best frequency for that kind of depth and size of nugget? Grounds could be sandy/rocky or mineralised most likely.
GPZ7000 for ultimate depth if used correctly. Coil size for bigger deeper targets
at those depths you would be thinking half ounce up to 20 ounces. Coke can size at 1 meter. GPX with right settings and coil size will punch great depth as well.
Really enjoyed this video. Great job .
Hi Golden Reward
My Pleasure and glad you liked it
Cheers M.G
Thanks mate this help me lots 👌🤙
Thanks for the previous advice about video editing apps mate.
I decided on a free version for now and made my first clip.....
Bit rough 😂 but hopefully they will get better down the track 🍺
Hey ADZ thats awesome mate,
Keep at it mate and good luck
Thanks for watching ;)
@@2Qwk2C My Pleasure - your continued support and feedback over time has been such a great help ;)
And good luck when you get out, I'm sure we'll chat before then but in the meantime. Be safe and well ;)
@@MinelabGold You too mate :)
Maybe you could check with magnet ;)
For rich red dirt with iron content can be challenging with such a sensitive machine like the GM1000 - just takes time to get used to the way the machine talks to you with the grounds.
To be very honest I'd go for something a little bigger.
Its easy for me to say that though, really comes down to goldfields, gold size, depths, budget, how often you would detect
The GM1000 is a good tool for operators who detect regularly to gain that extra sensitivity for small gold.
Hey the GM1000 will get any size gold as long as its within the reach of the search field.
For larger deeper targets we would use GP GPX GPZ
Hope that kind of helps - and good luck
Wow amazing thanks for the speedy reply, ill have to do more research into my local area :) I’ll be watching move of your vids too 👍👍happy hunting
@@garykrygsman1391 Hey Gary, no probs at all mate. I was luckily online the time you sent that ;). As always enjoy and good luck.
which of these detectors is good and cheap I want to buy one more here in Brazil and very expensive 🇧🇷🇧🇷
Is there a gold detectors 300 feet or more?
I used an SD2200D for many years and went to a GP3500 the best analog ever made and now since I could afford a GPX 4500 I got one in 2020 to start the gold year fresh, I got it for the sensitive small gold timing, the GP3500 is simply for deep over 1 gram targets ...... I do still love the SD2200D it has awesome ground tracking and amazing Discrimination and detects very deep too .......
This video is GOLD
Hi O B - thanks so much mate - hope ya got something out of it. And have a great week M.G
Thanks for the info it was educational 👍
Hi Lisa, many thanks for watching. Always good sharing insight and other. Have a great week ahead. M.G
Any experience with the Garrette ATX?
Sorry mate missed your comment, nah no experience on garretts
Great summary MG, well done :)
Thanks for your time Peter
Very much appreciate all that you guys do
Coming back each week and putting up with my rambles hah
Cheers Sean
Another great start to my day. Thanks mg.
Hah awesome Kevin - And another great comment
