Thank you for the very clear video. It was very helpful. I noticed one thing you didn't do that I saw in another video. At the base of the the 'piston' part of the solenoid my piece had a very small hole all the way through it. There were also two tiny holes in the base into which this piston slid when it is assembled (like you did it). The other video I saw showed the guy putting a bare thin wire through the entire assembly to orient the piston part correctly within the solenoid. Then he assembled everything and pulled the wire out. Just in case this helps anyone out.
Greatest video ever thumbs up dude 👍💯 I look for a video like this a thousand times online and this is the first video that I've seen of this kind throughout my search thank you so much now I can move forward with the learning process you show truly grateful have a great day 👍💯
Nice to see this vid! i got an intermittent fault code on my v70 2000, camshaft reset valve. Need to clean my solenoid valve also i suspect!have checked connector that was oily and checked leads. The car runs fine for 40km and then the engine light comes on, 3rd time now the same code has popped up after removing the dtc. Good to see how the solenoid is built up and what tools are needed! =)
Thanks for the video. I have the same part here, with an issue. This part stops working when its getting hot, then the soloide loose power review. So its important to check this soliode in a good way. I found 4,3 ohm resistance when it was cold, and 3.6 Mohm when hot.
These solenoids cost $250 new. It's worth seeing if the solenoid still carries power all the way through before you go to all this work to clean the unit.
Is there two VVT solenoids in S60 2.4 gasoline 2005 model? Two cams, two VVT solenoids? Edit: Turbo version has two of them. Without turbo -> only one VVT solenoid on the intake side.
What about oil leaking occurring.... my vvt is being replaced as this was seen as a symptom? My car seemed to run fine. Oil changed every 10k. No check light error
Does anyone know the exact size of the o-ring? I have a leakage between the two housings and I want to give it a try by replacing it. Thanks in advance.
Maybe i have problem with this solenoid too, on warm engine when restart the car i have low engine power. I fix it when increase the RPM up to 4000 or more. Usually happen when the time to change the oil comes.
Fernando peccicacco, I was watching his video and screaming at my phone because of this you can see the O-ring on the outer housing of the plunger. And he is dipping it into Diesel. This will cause it to dry and crack. Please anyong watching this. Either remove O-ring carfully or make sure you have a replacement for after cleaning.
Hello Joe, I'm hypnotized by your video. Got a V70 1 '99, trouble code is P1672, already cleaned the cvvt but without disassembly. Will do with disassembly again. You got any Ohm readings that are considered "bad" or "good"?
@@joesgarage2954 I came to this video b/c about 2 weeks after my timing belt change(roughly 5 months ago) I started getting the P0014 camshaft position sensor. I can clear it- and it will go away for a few days to a week on average but lately comes back within a day. Obviously it can be a few things, but do you think that this solenoid could be the culprit? Gas mileage is fine and idle is good but to my mind feels a slightly rough at times intermittently. Thanks for your advice!

Thanks for this. I’m pretty sure this is the problem with my V70 XC AWD.

did it work? did the code stay off?

So you have to replace it once it has this symptom?

this. this is so good, thank you =)
Very intressed to see how you clean it. Thank you so much
What was the ATF for at the end? Just so that it could slide back together easier?
only for lubrication

Hello, if you have replaced the o-ring, please tell me the part number or how can I find it online?
I will try this. Thank you.
My solenoid doesn't come out of the valve body. It's sort of pressed on with a sleeve over it. Do you know if there is a way to open up this type?

Nicely done.👍 Looks like these are Pretty simple and tough. I get it🌵😎
Excellent demonstration. Very professional
May I ask what is the top diameter of the plier you use? I need to order one to do this cleaning. Thanks!
John Mcdonald they’re called snap ring pliers.
why diesel and not gasoline?
Okey so does it spin inside or just go up and down? Cause mine only goes up and down
Great, thanks
Good morning, is there a o ring inside the valve?
no
I disassembled the valve, and yes, it does. Wrong information!!!

Joe, im getting codes P0026 and p0027. Would this be because of the intake and exhaust solenoids?
does the valve makes any weird noise?
Yes after i turn the key off, it makes a buzz noise.only the intake one does
@@juansaucedo4366 with the engine running? nothing? if no, maybe it is the valve
Only makes that buzz noise when engine is off.
Why not use a carb cleaner and it’s faster
Can a bad vvt exhausted solenoid cause white smoke ?
white smoke sounds like a head gasket
Can I test the solenoid any other way without a power supply like you did?
A 12V battery should be good
Many thanks!!!!
Can you use wd40 or does it have to be diesel
WD40 should be ok
Thanks man great video
Hello, can you helpme with the vvt wireless?
Volvo S40 T4, 2003?

I have code error Vide ECM 640 F . What is wrong ?
Can i use brake cleaner ?
Yes you can
excellent!!!!
can i just use carb cleaner?
Yes you can

My solenoid ain't got a screw to seperate, got a black cap at the end with the plug, is it seperable too?
@@derSuperBock i have no information about this specific valve, like Ohm readings or if you can clean it. maybe ultrasonic cleaning will work
@lonesomeblogger89 hey buddy, I'd like to know if you have solved the p1672?
@@John89375 not that sure. At the end timing belt was wrong by 2. Got the head gasket replaced by February, this year. Runs smooth since then.
yeah that puppy is stuck. just replace it. cleaning it might not do any good since it's so jammed up now
Can this cause code p0017
Yes
Can you please help me out i have cleaned the exhaust solenoid but now i have a trouble code p00014
Camshaft position sensor? Can you clear this Code?
Joe's Garage yes i can but can it do any damage if i ride the car with this fault for a couple of days ?
is your car runnig rough? power loss? if no, then it shoult be ok
