Nice video helped a lot, but one thing I noticed is that my 2008 Volvo S40 didn't have any issues. No stuttering, no brake power loss, no power loss from motor. Nothing, but it still threw a code.
Great vid, this video saved me a shit load of money. Just a tip, if you only get one code just clean both intake and exhaust anyway. Few years back I cleaned the intake and now I have exhaust code. Do them both at once.
What do you clean them with? Ran into a code for the cam solenoid, and my car has been shaky for a long time cause of it. Going to clean them both now that you pointed that out.
@@rj1234100 Yes when there is no other explanation for it running rough VVT is usually the cause and they are so accessible and easy why not. I soaked all of my parts in brake fluid for about 30 mins then took a toothbrush to clean out the gunk. Good luck.
Razumikhin Jones Thanks, ill probably do that, do I need to disassemble it? I saw a video of a guy taking the spring part out and lubing it with something, I just wanted to use brake cleaner for everything. I’m having trouble finding a new gasket as well, don’t want to reuse but I might not have an option Appreciate your reply
@@rj1234100 Hey so i have 2006 2.5T so turbo too. If you stand facing the front of your car both solenoids sit under the engine cover near the timing belt to the left side of engine. It is only like 4 torx screws and just save the gaskets or get new ones if you want. The solenoids sit one behind the other they look identical but one says 'exhaust' or something, I don't remember. Ya I took the solenoid apart as much as was possible and soaked in brake cleaner then scrubbed the parts. Wear gloves and dont soak it in something plastic, when I went back to get the parts the brake clean had completely melted away the plastic container lol and do it outside
they don't come with the gasket. you have to buy it separately. the gasket actually has a screen on it. so it is best to replace the gasket as soon as possible. it keep clunks of oil sludge from getting into the solenoid and messing up the timing.
My volvo have 2 Solenoid and the code was p0027 ,i change the one in the back, It was correct? Or i need to change the one in front? Thanks! Great video!
Just worried is there any Springs or ball bearings going to shoot out of there when I pull it apart from the engine and will I need any special calibration or just pull it off clean and replace and that's pretty much the whole show, thanks for the video
While you're in there check over any wires for loose / fraying / dissolving insulation. Thats likely a source of some problems, especially with misfire
Please help, I have a Volvo and gave me co P0027 I changed both solenoids and all codes are green when put the machine but engine light still on and when tried to do the smog still giving me code P0027, what do I do?
They look the same but they are not. You have to order either the intake or the exhaust solenoid. The intake comes with a new set of connectors than might need replacing.
Hi my friend, I write you from Russia, so sorry for my mistakes. I have problem with my Volvo, my car stalls, the engine may stall on the move(engine speed fall to 0 and do not hold for 1-1,5 as it should be), scanned the car, the program showed the error P0026, please tell me, I should try to do everything the same as you?
That would be the fuel pump issue. Mainly it feeding fuel to the fuel injectors. I had it happen, but managed to get the fuel pump code to clear by using fuel injector cleaner. Either it has an emission leak or it is clogged, but potentially it may just be dying out.
Daniel Conde actually no. It seems that I have a voltage issue with the sensors, so much more investigation is required. I posted the video for those who might want to do this simple repair, but it’s not a for sure cure of the P027 code.
@@abrahmc8568 i have a 08 v8 and i think the intake sensor is good but like you said ,its leaking oil like crazy when running no codes , runs great besides that

Razumikhin Jones I also have a turbo model, so the exhaust one is different I think? I only see one of the solenoids.

Did it make a ticking sound before? Mine might be the pulley...

Question... are both solenoid basically the same part? (interchangeable?)
Joshua Millen I don’t believe so, but perhaps.
They look the same but they are not. You have to order either the intake or the exhaust solenoid. The intake comes with a new set of connectors than might need replacing.
I've read solenoid the same, but housing may be different...
What is the part called in RockAuto?
Did cleaning it work

Ишхан Кишмирян I’m not sure if this would help, but can’t hurt. Besides, it’s on 10 minute repair.
David Haak thanks for the answer

Can you drive with a p0027 ???
Oh yes you can drive around just burns gas and power will feel weird...just clean the solenoids look at my post higher up
Does it matter which percent VOC brake cleaner you use ???

hey was wondering if you had an update? I been trying to figure out why I've been getting p0026 p0027 record , so far its been an expensive journey:(
To the guys above, are you guys leaking oil? It may be the vvt hub that is on camshaft that has failed.

0027 and Im leaking oil. Or rather, using, and I couldnt figure it out. Thanks . @abrahmc8568, ur the man. VVT hub is my next search
Wouldve been helpfull if I could see what you were even doing.
