@OBrienAndSonsGarage got me here as well. New sub from the UK this is something I would love to do in the future for now im stuck with my 1/18 scale model dreams of a singer!!!
So glad I tripped upon your channel. As a Porsche lover, vintage appreciator and someone who gets excited about giving old things a new life... I couldn't be more interested in following your journey. Best of luck!
You are talking the right priorities. The execution and dedication, and $$$s, will determine time done and final look. Blank canvas can turn to work of artistic roadworthy gem. Best of luck sir.
Congrats. Nice you get to start with the 3.0. 3.2 SS build would be ideal. Singer is interesting idea. To me that means Carbon fiber and 17" wheels. If you want to go more period correct, a lot of options there too. My 77 looked very close to that when I first got it, also a bad Gaurds red respray. The door, if original, means it was a cool 70s green! I hope you go back. GL with the build.
ideally upgrading the engine would be in the build but for now, that cost is being put on the very far backburner haha. This is just going to be inspired by singer, on a budget...so CF probably isnt in the budget either but my own stylistic ideas from many different builds and stuff I've seen will help inspire where it goes..guards red will be gone but im not sure of the final color..I have some ideas..
In my early 20’s I caught the Porsche bug with the purchase of a 1977 911S. Forty years later I have yet to be cured of this affliction, and in fact have reverted to a preference for these air cooled cars over any current 911. My current choice is a 993, but that 77 will always occupy a special place in my memories. And back then it sure didn’t seem slow! 😂
Bought myself a 1972 911S when I graduated from college in 1980 and got my first real job. Mechanical fuel injection and electronic ignition. It actually had a separate oil door on the quarter panel and a gauge that showed the oil level in the dash. Nice car when it ran but it rarely ran for long. Sold it once it was all back together and before something else broke while driving my Dad's backup Jeep. Sounds like a great project. Hope it all goes well.
@@OBrienAndSonsGarage I wonder exactly what issues your 72 ran into? What exactly where these issues that were constantly failing? Was it little things like a headlight, annoying things like a fuel injection deal, or... what?
These days parts are widely available. From the looks, it needs LOADS of love. The engine is reliable and lasts, although it mostly leaks a bit the way the casts are designed. Not to worry. These brakes are easy to maintain, but you’ll need to clean them from time to time. The floor pans get rusty… I guess I have to stop here. Man, you’ll need patience, lots of time and some money. Act as perfectionist, you’ll be rewarded with a wonderful car that turns heads and drives insanely well. Me and a friend went to the autobahn in an 180 degree turn, winter tyres.,140 km/ h . these cars can do that but you have to be brave 😂
lots of love agreed! Luckily it is a california car so rust is very minimal (only surface of the paint since the sun destroyed it) so im looking forward to breaking into it.. maybe not autobahn for me though 😅
the biggest challenge haha. I guess budget is subjective but when Singer spends hundreds of thousands i plan on doing it at a fraction of that haha. Some upgrade will be slower than others just due to the fact that I will need to save money hahaha. It'll be fun though, I can keep a tally along the way!
'DIY Singer' that's hysterical - let's do this! 😝But please go easy cos if you start talking cheesy wide body kit i'm out 🙅♂ (be warned, we're a fussy bunch us Porsche people) 😋
haha its a farfetched idea but I think taking tasteful and realistic ideas from those beautiful cars can be implemented here..hopefully...mainly itll just be used as inspiration 😅 body will be staying the same, no hacking or flares here..I know that isnt singer but like I said....Inspiration right..? 😅
Great project ! How do you plan to modify the rear wings as the 1977 is maybe the only version with narrow wings, compared to later models ? (I'm not talking about the previous generation, the 2.7L are almost all with larger wings)
Looking forward to your project! Just took a 2007 Cayman 2.7 back to 1973. Had a lot of fun with that. Keep us posted. How about 13 months instead of 13 years on this one? 🙂
Using the word “Singer” with “budget” is extremely disrespectful to Singer Vehicles. Just call it a DIY Restomod. DIY means budget, inspired by other examples. A Singer is a “no restrictions” undertaking for the top of the line craftsmanship. What makes them so appealing is the extensive effort that’s gone into their design to not look “Changed” but ultimately enhanced to a sublime level of perfection.
Algorithm brought me here. Instant subscribe based on title. Agree and love the vintages. Don’t let us down 👍🏻. Best wishes!
big ups to the algorithm haha. I'll try my best, we'll be learning together 🤣

Can't wait for more! That 1977 body style is absolutely beautiful.
an absolute classic! plan on keeping it exactly how she is but making her look even more sleek
Yeah, algorithm directed me here, new subscriber, keep the faith. Remember, remember, “Inch by inch it’s a cinch, yard by yard it’s hard.”

@ very nice project, plz keep us updated, even with just the parts and project plan before assembly 👍
Dude. Same story here. I'm doing a hot rod 3.0 Targa. The engine was crazy expensive tho.
sounds super fun. Luckily I wont be touching the motor...for now... 😅
Title brought me here... The Jerusalem cruisers kept me around.
I would love to do it one day. Keep it up.
you got this

what do you mean by wings! the fender flares?
@@OBrienAndSonsGarage yes sorry, english is not my mother language
@@aurelienlambert no worries! I plan on keeping the narrow flares at the moment to keep it within the budget :)

damn 2007 to 73! amazing haha. 13 months will be the goal 😂😅
Subbed
Go for it…
The Singer cars are based on the 964, is there a reason you went twith the 930 or was it purely the price?
Thanks!
I have a 911sc 1982 with Toyota Prius Power Steering
My dream is to find a rusty rat one of those and do the singer interior, wheels ,suspension, and bits but keep the body as a rat .
that would be sick
Does it run? Any work on the engine?
runs and drives. engine isnt planning on any work for this portion of the build but will get some love eventually
‘74-‘89 are all G body cars.
yep. this will stay as a narrow body though
Enjoy, it is only the amount of cash that is slightly depressing.

budget singer inspired build is what im sticking with haha
It says 911 SC on the engine cover, isn't that a 1978.....?
Frankenstein haha. I think due to the previous engine fire of this car when they swapped to a 3.0L engine they also swapped the engine cover
@@OBrienAndSonsGarage Thanks, I'll be watching the resto!

Back dating is just too good to not do! I don’t have a car IG just my main one I use for my other businesses haha. @thejobrien
god dammit people. Abandoned means "having been deserted or cast off.". This car was not abandoned. It was left by the owner to sit and rot.
