If you think some people hate an outlaw air-cooled 911, try owning a 996. They said it best by not giving a shit about what other people think of your car. Well said.
I didn’t even know what an outlaw Porsche was until about a year and half ago when I bought mine and as I started understanding more about it, the more I realized my 996 was exactly that and I drive the hell out of it.
I’ve loved Porsche for years but following the Rico Customs page tool that love to a new level. I even copied his little lounge area in that small garage in Holland. Truly a trendsetter!
Ahh man I remember coming across one of his builds on instagram and it just blew me away! Been a fan ever since and so lucky I got to meet the legend himself.
Great video, the ending was awesome, couldn’t get the car to go but we still love our Porsches even though they have problems. I can’t imagine my life without my Porsche.
Thank you Max! I’m out shooting today but I’ll find my playlist and comment back with the exact song you’re looking for. Thank you I’m the meantime for watching.
Hey man! I love the videos. The cinematography is amazing, and the color grading is on point! I would love to know if you have any advice on someone whos saving up for a 964? It's also my dream car!
Thank you so much bro! I’d love to help you out. It’s easier to reach me over IG my main account is @Tannerbseymour. Send me a DM and I’ll help answer any questions you have.
too heavy not enough HP for its weight.. front suspension is better than 911 suspension. 964 engines are good for the large bore to be fitted in an early911.
Cars have always been race cars you can live with on a day to day basis. Modifying them to suit your driving tastes for seat of the pants, driving and handling has always been the Sports Car Enthusiasts " hobby" The running gear and chassis is where we spend our time and efforts. We understand the body is to keep the weather off you. So making it your own. Is what Sports Car Enthusiasts ownership, is all about. Tweeking, modding , and adjusting is the fun of it all. Porsche calls them outlaw, other Sports Cars are outlaws in everything else but name, they are called restonods.
"Rico customs is the best outlaw porsche custom builder in the world" - I'm wondering how can you be so sure about them being the best. Don't get me wrong, I love what they are creating, but there is a lot of porsche custom shops and there are few that have very high quality. So why them and not any other custom shop?
Very valid question, best is subjective and you're right when you ask how I can be so certain. Truth is I can't, but I cannot deny the impact Rik & Jonas have had on me when designing my 911 project. For me they were the gem in the sand that stood out the most and for that reason they are the best in my eyes. Subjectively though maybe there are better but in my eyes they have the greatest language that is actually obtainable and not for just high level collectors.
Funny how the Porsche or car community community is so disjointed on this subject. I have an old family heirloom low mile 1970 911 that I have utterly performed the act of Porsche outlaw sacrilege on. I will never sell it so I figure it is my time capsule, blank canvas, and touchstone to my family. I agree with some of the negative comments but I also respect the presenter and subject of outlaws. I think it is a cool name to label our passion and sickness for messing with old potentially valuable cars. It isn't t a rich or poor thing... I remember going to a RGruppe meet where an old dirty guy in a pickup stopped by and said he had a Porsche. With skepticism we invited him to participate. The next year he at another meet he shows up in a ugly old 911. The "outlaws" helped him get it running correctly. In ALL hobbies there are different kinds of people that want to have fun. Goofy, rich, poor, arrogant, brilliant, skinny, fat, introverted..you name it. I love them all and embrace the wide array of people that all agree their Porsches are a blank canvas that should be driven. Great article... love Pelican... I am okay with the label of outlaw or idiot... whatever you think I am. My old modified 911 is a reflection of my passion... yay for all those who appreciate them.. Call us or the cars what you like 😎
I love this! You have the spirit I hope to share about the Porsche community as a whole! Thank you for commenting, and being a good example of a Porsche driver that welcomes others into the cult 😜😅
The outlaw category came about to counter the fastidious attention to originality that the collector insists everyone else must adhere to. You’re a purist of spirit, not of manufacturer’s spec.
I think that’s where it started but around the world I’m seeing more and more mentions of Outlaw Porsches. Even after making this video I’ve heard so many stories of what an “Outlaw Porsche” is. I think it does have some roots with Rod Emory but not it seems to be a term for those who customize their Porsches and are active drivers.
Having rallied these cars from northern Thailand to the PNW cascades, I think these cars can take a lot more abuse then a dude leaning on them. Porsches aren’t fragile like other classic car brands.
I think you’re misunderstanding the point there if it made you upset enough not hear the message. What he’s saying is it doesn’t matter about income or background you come from, the Porsche brand has a car for everyone and anyone can modify their car. I’m sorry you misinterpreted the point but hope you don’t miss the message and show patience with people.
@@TannerSeymour i just didnt like the association with poor people and the 924, the same way that i dont like the association with the 911 and rich people. there is no such thing as poor people and a Porsche 924, its just ridicolous!!, that kind of talk is of someone o clearly dont know what are poor people. thats my opinion and i stand with it!!, and not even a little upset.
@@arciliocoelho5767 I think you’re still off the mark and being a little judgmental of someone’s character off of one sentence that you’re trying to take out of context. Based off this interaction with you I can walk away with the assumption that you are angry with the world and are someone who is critical of all small things but that would be unfair of me to judge you like that the same way you are being hypercritical to one phrase when the message is the opposite of your interpretation. It’s kind of like seeing a weed in your yard and determining the whole yard is bad. The wiser option I think would be to allow others especially those who speak other languages a little nuance and patience so you can listen and be a better man knowing patience for your fellow man. And I’ll leave it at that.
Just two guys talking, conveying what it means to be alive, what it means to exist.
Absolutely inspiring.
Get a grip

The same with 997.1 owners.

tbh the only thing I don't like about the 996 are the silly headlights. If I was going to "outlaw" one I'd somehow make it round again.
The term Outlaw was first initiated by Rod Emory’s family to the 356s
Beautifully shot and a story well told. Thanks for this.
Thank you for watching! More coming soon!

Great video, the ending was awesome, couldn’t get the car to go but we still love our Porsches even though they have problems. I can’t imagine my life without my Porsche.
Outlaw Porsche is a Porsche you can simply sit on and not worry about it. Cool!
When I see it, I immediately fly back to the Großglockner and feel at home again. Great Video Bro.
Thank you Mo! Can’t wait for yours!
Great Story !
Great video!
That’s my feeling too, do it the way you want to and find your tribe

You’re awesome!
Really great video, also, as an owner of zero Porsches, completely torturous as well! 🤣 I'll get there though, keep making these videos! 👍
Absolutely amazing episode! Just checked out Rico Customs and holy cow their work is incredible! Can’t believe I haven’t heard of these guys before!
Such a video! Inspirational! Do you have the name of the song?
Which song? There were a few used in this video. I can get you the name if you have a time stamp to reference.
Good video, fantastic cars and nice guys. What is the name of the song at the end of the video?
Thank you Max! I’m out shooting today but I’ll find my playlist and comment back with the exact song you’re looking for. Thank you I’m the meantime for watching.

I suppose if one day I can move up to a 993 C4S one day it'll definitely be turned into an "Outlaw" Porsche.
Thank you!

Outlaw is California and it came out of one guy that took different parts of different years and also fabricated is own Porsche

A name some dorks call their 911's?
Ahh man out of anyone I’ve shot for from all over the US to Europe these are the best Dorks I’ve ever driven with.
