There are a whole slew of plants I could have picked to wrap up the summer, but these each had a property that makes them special to me. Well, they are all special Hoya in and of themselves. You must have some favs, too, no?
I have started a small collection of hoya and learning as I go. I'm finding that I enjoy the small leaf hoya more and am enamored with the Matilde splash that seems to be doing well and I can hardly wait until she fills out and drapes over the edge (yes, she's a female). I recently bought a pathos neon, a non-hoya, that is so beautiful to look at and seems to be doing well.
@@shirleycovey7309 Ah, yes. My 'Mathilde' almost came out, but she is absolutely covered in ready-to-bloom buds, so I didn't want to disturb her (and this plant was named after a little girl, so there ya go). I have the Philodendron lemon lime, love it!
I just repotted my oldest plant- 3 Ficus Elastica Burgundy trees planted together and growing super compact/full with branching after only 2 yrs. They survived and seem to be bouncing back after some lower leaf loss. Win! 🤗 Just starting your video but just wanted to say, you’re awesome, if no one has told you today. Which I assume they have.
Keep doing, Dave! I can't sit through many of the so-called popular, plant youtubers content anymore. They go on and on....... half of their plants look unhealthy because they just got started in this hobby. Love your channel!

While I have caught the Hoya bug in a big way, another fascination is Jewel Orchids. I have four and they blow my mind. I am wondering how you determine whether your Hoya should be trellised or not. Serenity to you.
You are right about the vines needing to point up. I'm definitely going to encourage it to put out leaves on every node.... There so enormous that I just am not sure how that would work, or if it will. But, I'll be updating that plant every once in a while, no doubt!
I love the stargazer leaves🥰 I have to stop to touch them every time I walk past it lol. I’ve had her about six months, the main plant has I think 8 leaves and two more getting ready to pop out of the vine and I’ve already taken a two leaf propagation off it that is rooting quite well in water, I’m so excited for it to mature and bloom. it only had four leaves and one vine when I got it so I’d say it’s a good grower. It’s my favorite Hoya in my collection right now.

"Stemma." They're back after a very, very, very long break.
Are there other publications that you read? I think you mentioned a publication of the International Hoya Society once before...?
@@paxleidig5327 I don't read *anything* with LC these days. But no, the one I've mentioned is the Swedish Hoya publication, and that's a bit of a language barrier for me 🤣
@@soberplantguy what, you mean you're not multilingual? I'm shocked! 😆

👌🏽🫶😎thanks Dave from upstate NY , wish you lived closer to me ☺️
@@Diane-ex1os That would be big FUN, no doubt. Side note, why is NY, by far, my largest audience in the country? Of course you don't know either, but thought I'd share that anyway 😆
Wow, I didn’t know you were from the Cedar Rapids area! i’m originally from Waterloo and went to Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids way back in the early 80’s. Now living in Sioux City. So wonderful to get a Hoya-growers perspective from a Midwesterner..💚💪🪴😊
Hello, fellow Iowan! There are a few of us here 😁 I've done my best to describe some of the challenges we have here. Like this year when the sun didn't come out for all of January 🤣
@@soberplantguy Grow lights, heat mats, and a nice little grow tent help out immensely!🪴💪💚😊
@@joanneklaus9242 100% There are Hoya that I simply wouldn't be able to grow without my Mars Hydro. LOVE it.
