    The speed of rooting out is slow because the size of vessel you’re using. I have found the best results with a tiny dessert cup, like a big shot glass size. It was a game changer. It hits walls fast, feels secure, and push a vine quickly. The bigger the vessel, the slower in my experiments. You have a beautiful collection.

      Interesting theory. I’ll be sure to test it out. Thanks for sharing! 😊🪴

    When you take cuttings and you have a vine don’t toss that vine. If it has a nod you can put the nod with stem part sticking out into water or soil to root. It takes longer but it does work. I cut each stem part with a nod a root them in soil and place in baggie

    • @luciansteph

      That’s amazing that it has worked for you. The leafless vine of Hoya always rots for me when I try to propagate it. I’ll keep trying 😅

    Hi Stephanie. I love all your Hoyas and you really look passionate about growing them.
    I have: Obovata, walliniana variegated, Australis Lisa
    I do not have any silver leaved Hoyas yet and I am keeping my 👀 for the coreacea and Nova or Grey ghost.
    I am also in the 👀 for latifolia snow queen as well as Obovata splash
    All my new Hoyas will be in PON my old big ones (6) are in soil and I am thinking on putting them in self watering pots which would reduce my anxiety when travelling.
    Some growers (Hakuna La planta), to encourage their plants to continue producing splashy leaves they cut out any new green leaves leaving only the splashy ones. It seems to work.

    • @luciansteph
      @luciansteph  2 месяца назад

      Hi!!’ Thank you!😆
      Do you have any tips for me regarding the Walliniana variegated? It’s my second go at it 😅😅.
      Yes! I have definitely about heard some growers cutting off the green parts. Maybe if my plants were bigger. For now I want to let them to become established and also I’m experimenting to see if the splash would come back if I just keep them under high light.
      I’ve noticed that not all my Hoya do well in Pon and some really prefer chunky soilless potting mixes I’m probably doing something wrong. Happy growing! 🪴😊

      My biggest is the very common Hoya carnosa. I took a cutting two years ago from my grandmother's plant, which makes it special to me because her plant was over 40 years years old and it almost died. And since my grandma has been gone for years now, I wanted to save the plant. This year it started booming. I just repotted it and it just made me fall in love with slow growing Hoyas 😅.
      Also my Krimson queen grows very fast.

    Several months ago I got a car hueschkeliana and they had it in a coir husk mix and it suddenly started dying and I lost half of it. So I put it in perilite under grow light and I’m hoping the few leaves on the stem I have left will take root. I’m think this probably had dry roots when I got it and it was a bad mix for starting it. I also got a Mathilde at the same time in the same mix and that one had limp leaves when I got it so I also put that one in perlite and that one rooted already.

    Hello, I want to transfer my 21 hoyas to self-watering (wick based ) and I do not want to use pon but my own mixture that works for me in calatheas (coconut chips, pine bark, charcoal, perlite and small leca) is it similar to the mixture you use? Greetings from Peru 💚🇵🇪

    • @luciansteph
      @luciansteph  9 дней назад

      Hi there! 👋🏽Welcome! Sounds like a great chunky mixture. Hoya love that. It may be a good idea to test a few plants in the mixture in self watering pots first. Maybe allow a few weeks to go by to see if your plants like it, then slowly transfer more plants over if all is well. I’ve made the mistake of transferring too many plants over at once and experienced mass casualties. 😅I’ll be taking it a bit slower in the future. Hope that helps. 🪴🤗
