He must of known as well that Liam would never change unless they broke up. You can see Noel was upset bout the break up in there last performances, but like most songwriters he’s an introvert and will never really talk bout his real feelings.

Before the internet age, I had heard rumours about a song called Sad Song (without knowing that it was on the vinyl version of Definitely Maybe... I bought CDs!) I also didn’t see Noel perform it on Jools (pre RUclips). Then I heard it was a b-side on an elusive Don’t Go Away, Japan only CD. Seven CD shops turned me down to get it imported (pre eBay). Six years later after those failed attempts, in 2003 and travelling in Sydney, in a small CD shop, I found the only Oasis CD I never had... that Japanese only Don’t Go Away single!! It was such a thrilling moment!! With the CD in hand, and eight years after I had first heard about the song, I waited a few more hours until it was dark and I could sit on Coogee beach in silence. I listened to it on my CD Walkman, and cried for it’s beauty. To then hear Liam’s version another sixteen years on is so touching. Blessings to Noel and Liam for their art and brilliance.

It’s bollox like that I hate! You don’t have to go to a gig to give to charity and show you care. In fact Liam went against the punk way by doing so, it’s the kind of thing left to Bono and Chris Martin and anyway he didn’t want to distract from the day and what it was for he also does low key charity stuff every year. I’m really sorry that Bonehead’s facing complex health issues… He’s been too many times discredited for being a mediocre guitar player which he’s not and he’s never been. He was definitely a pillar of that wall of sound that you heard on Oasis live performances, and he’s been a wonderful addition to the band Liam’s been playing lately. Get well soon Paul!
Mate, don’t try and conflate discrediting with him doing his job. His job was rhythm, and the only person you need to hear any credit from that matters are the band members. Noel Gallagher is quoted saying “bonehead was the heart and spirit of Oasis” … like and respect him all you want, but he’s never been seen as less than what he was. An absolute legend.

I hate these brothers for denying us their music. I have to be honest they belong together for the sake of the world. It’s a shame Noel can’t get over his jealousy and Liam can’t get over his ego. I think there's something very nice about Liam finally singing this song live with an older, more worn and weathered voice. It's almost as if he waited until he could sing it like this. It really adds something to the song that he wouldn't have been able to add at his peak.

I think every song Noel sang lead on would've just been plain better if Liam had sung it. Don't Look Back in Anger would've been bigger than Wonderwall if it had the kids vocals.

I wouldn’t say Sad Song is very unknown now but you’ve got to understand that for a long time the only official way to hear it was to get the vinyl of Definitely Maybe, cause that’s the only way you could listen to it. It’s crazy and kinda touching that all those people know the words to such a deep cut, just shows how universal and beloved this band is

The solo Noel version captures the whole point of the song. This is almost bitter sounding and turns the song upside-down and in effect makes it into a completely different tune.
