  • In this #schizophrenicstorytime I share a story about a real schizophrenia hallucination I had of a homeless man at the store. When I have visual and auditory hallucinations, I can sometimes have a conversation with them until someone alerts me of my symptoms.
In this story time I was able to have some insight from my medication, that allowed me to realize that I may be hallucinating. Although my medication greatly helps to reduce my hallucinations and other symptoms, I do still occasionally have hallucinations and brief episodes.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this story time and let me know if you would like to see more of these!

Honestly the more actual people with schizophrenia talk about their experiences and show themselves over time on social media the more and more the cognitive symptoms seem to be central to how the rest of it happens.

Like the hallucinations are super dramatic and get people's attention sure but in practice they seem to be causally predicated on the effects of the cognitive symptoms.

Hey man, I have been dealing with paranoic disorder but I just learned it recently.
Even though I know its diferent from hallucination, I can relate when you talk about not being able to see the context or logic during your episodes.
The diference is that for me, the feelings and thoughts are so strong, negative and persistent, that they make me do a lot of things on the outside, to make the external reality adjust to my inner paronic percepetions, to a point, where they became truth.
Sometimes, I feel like if I was a schizophrenic person, upside down.

I hope you're able to manage your symptoms and live a more comfortable life.
I've never been diagnosed other than anxiety, but as a kid and teenager I had a lot of paranoia due to trauma. I would repeatedly think someone was going to try to break into my home, or watch me through the window. I'd have nightmares of that happening, and wake up and have to check that all the doors and windows were locked. I always felt like strangers in public would attack me for no reason or try to rob me. Any time I went into a store I would expect the staff to accuse me of stealing and call the cops. A few times I thought people were talking about me but it turned out they were discussing a movie or something. I haven't had any symptoms like that in several years, but I've always sympathized with schizophrenics because of it. I imagine schizophrenia being a lot like if I was literally seeing and hearing the things I was imagining in my mind, which would be terrifying. Actually, I think I did have one hallucination as a child. If not, it was an extremely realistic dream. I saw the shadows in my room turn into monstrous looking animals and slowly close in around me while whispering in some foreign language. I was so young I wasn't even in school yet. To this day, it's the most terrifying thing I've experienced.

I had a similar experience where I saw my dad at home and had a full conversation but later realised he never actually walked in or out of the room. He just appeared and he was speaking nonsense. It was so strange. I have Schizoaffective disorder

Even tho I'm medicated, I still experience hallucinations but definitely not as frequently. But I still have a lot of negative symptoms. My memory and critical thinking still isn't right. And I also find it very hard to socialize, which was never the case before. I'd like to see more negative symptoms videos. Thanks

Hearing out someone dealing with a mental disorder is important to comprehend what they go through. You not only inform people but give confidence to those struggling with the same issues on daily basis (in my opinion). Plus, i like to listen to you because i like your accent and it helps me to practice listening in english. (English is not my main language)

This is very validating for people on the schizophrenia spectrum. What I mean by that is, you are speaking of real experiences and being very open about them, which makes me feel less isolated

I get hallucinations when my fear goes up, causing me to get paranoid, then causing stress and anxiety to go up. And fear goes up when I hear, and or see spooky things/videos. I tend to stay away from horror shows due to it. Even hearing the word schizophrenia makes my skin crawl wile i sit here alone in bed at 3am.

Honestly the way you break down and talk about your experiences is even teaching me how to understand myself and how I interpret things. You are so very strong, thank you for telling this story. Keep up the great work Kody

I just don’t understand, forgive my ignorance but being home alone and having a conversation with someone that isn’t there and not realizing that you never invited anyone over so you should actually have no one to talk to just blows my mind……it’s like Dementia comes into play and makes your mind temporarily believe the ENTIRE moment you’ve been living in is what always was.
Also, are these Visual Hallucinations you see that are at your Work or Home, are they complete strangers or people you know/knew…?
You are an inspiring soul my dude 🫡🤘🏻✌🏻

I am so glad that I very rarely have visual hallucinations. I have auditory all the time which is bad enough but man, even I can't imagine what that would be like. I already question myself to the point of exhaustion as is but adding that in would be maddening.

just found your channel today, through a short too. but im here to learn.
two questions i do have are:
for a 'normal' hallucination, is it normal day to day conversations with them?
do they appear to you that they real person, who you know is there?
ok im sure i have a million others, and you'd hate me real quick so ill stop there.
i have always been interested in the brain, and how that wet sack of goo translates into what we know as the world. seeing different surgeries on the TV (when TLC was actually a learning channel) where they pick and poke at someones brain was kinda cool yet scary at the same time. especially when you get to see the change in them on the spot. my mom died of brain cancer and i got to see the changes in her as it progressed, my uncle was smoked by a 5t truck many years ago, and kinda scrambled up his brain bucket a little. still a functioning guy, just gets a little angry here and there at odd things, anyways, ive seen what happens when trauma changes a brain. for as sad as it was to watch my mom die like that, her brain grape changed odd things about her in ways i didn't expect. long story short, yes it was super sad, but interesting to look back at the changes cause of it. i know schizophrenia is not a traumatic brain injury, but effects the brain in ways that i could never comprehend, like my mom and uncle. i just find it interesting i guess.
i honestly not trying to be a jerk or insensitive with my wall of text, but i wanted to thank you for making content about your schizophrenia. now jerks like me can learn from someone who lives it everyday.

What is the “shhh” sound you make when having symptoms. Do you do that when you’re not having hallucinations?

Just a question, a little curious. How close has a hallucination been to you without you goint to them.

    Hi😊
I'm m listening to your stories thinking how exhausting it must be both mentally and physically.
I know sometimes in disturbing events, some peoples brains protectively block out chunks of time in memory. Do you think your memory issues could be a similar response?
Im glad to see you doing long format posts here so I can listen while doing daily tasks :)

Do you think this could be spiritual? It would answer why they don’t appear on your phone.
Also, I notice that your face contorts when you’re having a hallucination. Does that happen every time? To me it’s another clue that it is a spiritual battle.
Would you be willing to rebuke your hallucination in Jesus name? This isn’t some magical phrase. You should try with faith (or at least hope) that Jesus will show up for you. I’d love to hear your thoughts on all this. God bless you!
