    Really interesting to see someone who's diagnosed watching this kind of vids. I think a video about what the media is doing wrong might be informative. To hear why so many movies, books etc. are failing is what I'd personally like to hear :) Also hope you took care of yourself after this video, you really looked seriously taken aback when a human hand came out of the box, and I hope you're doing okay.

    My best friend of 18 years basically disappeared on me a long time ago. At the time I thought he was mad at me, but over time, he would pop up on social media with some really nasty comment to me...then days later apologize, then go dark again. We lived on different coasts so I reached out to his brother and from the conversation I could tell something was wrong, but it was obvious that for privacy I was not getting the full story. Just a few months ago my friend had I guess would be a psychotic break and now is facing 20-to life in prison. He did not harm anyone, but he aimed a non-firearm weapon at a police officer. When I found out, I called his brother and then heard the whole story...my friend has schizophrenia that has been getting worse and worse for twenty years. I had no idea, and of course this is devastating to hear. Ive known him since 1985, and even though we haven't really had a "friendship" all these years, we still did have one that abruptly ended....I want to help him somehow. Im at a loss as to how. Looking back, he would tell me sometimes that someone hundreds of feet was talking about him, or said something to him...and I would say, "no, they didn't say anything", and he seemed to accept that. But after watching this, now I see the little things here and there, the "breadcrumbs" over the course of our friendship that point to this illness. What to do? Schizophrenia doesn't just affect the patient, it devastates all who love him or her, at least thats my experience.

      This happened with me as well!!! I was a big part of my friends life. Then she experienced a lot of trauma and I believe this is really why it triggered this to come out.
      We went from talk every day and hanging out to just dropped. Gone dark. Idk if she thinks I'm plotting against her, but she is short as hell with me or just doesn't respond at all. She's told me a lot of alarming things that will be so out of the blue.
      And she really believes all these things are truly happening and some times you hear the stories and think, there could maybe be a possibility that happened? But then you hear other parts of the story and it's just SO out of there. It really solidifies that something is really wrong.
      It's the paranoid type too with visual and audio hallucinations. She has maybe somewhat acknowledged it (her mom had it) but she also believes what she has experienced is totally real.
      Idk how to tell her or what to even do tbh. It's hard. But I do anything I can to help

    I've had 2 hallucinations in my life, both brought on by strong medications and anti depressants. That was enough for me!
    The first was in the hospital, a hanging innocent sthetoscope going wild like a goofy snake creature. Thankfully i wasn't afraid since i had taken my first ever sleep pill and figured out it was messing with me, so i just closed my eyes to avoid seeing any more nonsense!
    Second time was first time on anti depressants. Saw a finger scratch through my wall, poke out, and do a come here motion. I wooshed out of bed to tell my dad lmao. It was on the side effects list so i again knew i didn't have to worry.
    Having hallucinations and knowing WHY helps, but in the moment it was still terrifying before rationality came back.

    I heavily relate to the feeling of whispers that don't entirely make clear sense and seeing hands/arms, and someone constantly telling you not to do something because it might be unsafe. I suffer from psychosis because I'm diagnosed with C-PTSD and bipolar type 2, so I can't at all speak for everyone's experience, but I do feel like these simulations really play up the fear factor in a more cinematic horror way than what people actually experience? I don't quite know how to put it into words. The echoing and the 3D color glitches and the red lighting just felt off, to me, personally. But like you said everyone experiences it very differently!

    • @mordi4028
      @mordi4028 2 года назад +8

      With bipolar, my psychotic episodes and symptoms usually appear when I am not taking my medication on time (or at all), which happens unfortunately a lot because I suffer from dissociation and forget to take it. I personally experience a lot of blurry vision, knocks that aren't there, dogs howling outside, flies buzzing very close to my ear, things that aren't necessarily out to get me. It's when I'm extremely stressed and having PTSD flashbacks that I see things like limbs, or distressed screaming from outside. It can be so humiliating to think someone is hurt or in trouble and rushing to help, to find out it was all in my head. Bless you and thank you for your content and making others feel less alone.

    • @xanderguyer7512

      Fairly certain those are hypnagogic hallucinations, basically a thing that happens to some people as they fall asleep. If it really starts worrying you or affecting your life, probably see a doctor, but, just based on this, you're probably good :)

Growing in volume as a pure white light descended, it obliterated the monotonous mechanical pounding that, seemingly for eons, had been my only company up until then. But there are other voices that talk as well. It sounds just like the audio hallucinations, except mine is internal. I am glad they aren't external like with schizophrenia , that would be horrible. I was having wild delusions, reliving some of the most exciting times of my life, in the most vivid fashion.
    In my mind, I was on jump run, ready to skydive out of a DC3 three miles above the earth . . . going to be the last man out, my favorite position. It was the maximal flying of my body.
    Bursting into brilliant sunshine outside the airplane door, I immediately assumed a head dive with my arms tucked behind me (in my mind), feeling the familiar buffeting as I fell beneath the prop blast, watching from upside down as the belly of the enormous silvery plane started to shoot skyward, its huge propellers whirling in slow motion, earth and clouds below mirrored on its underbelly. I was musing over the odd sight of flaps and wheels down (as if landing) while still miles above the ground (all to slow down and minimize wind shock to the exiting jumpers).
    I tucked my arms in extra tight in a head-down dive to accelerate briskly to over 220 miles per hour, nothing more than my speckled blue helmet and shoulders against thin upper air to resist the tug of the huge planet below, moving more than the length of a football field every second, the wind roaring by furiously at thrice hurricane speed, louder than anything-ever.
    Passing between the tops of two enormous puffy white clouds, I rocketed into the clear chasm between them, green earth and sparkling deep blue sea far below, in my wild, thrilling rush down to join my friends, just barely visible, in the colorful snowflake formation, growing larger every second as other jumpers joined in, far, far below . . .
    I was flipping back and forth between being present there in the ICU and being out of my mind in the adrenaline-soaked delusions of a gorgeous skydive.
    I was between nutty-and getting it.
    For two days I blabbered about skydiving, airplanes, and the Internet to all who would listen. As my physical brain gradually recovered its bearings, I entered a strange and exhausting paranoid universe.
    In short, I was a little crazy.

    Wait a minute.... I saw a hand in my bedroom doorway with a white glove when I was about 17. Caught me off guard like that.... And I had horrible sleep paralysis where I woild hear voices and footsteps. I wonder if I was on the verge of having this at that time of my life and it aborted somehow.

    So... i think my friend has that kind of technological hallucinations. She told me she had gotten phone calls at school from Doja Cat and that she helped her write the song paint the town red. She also strongly believes her step mom, sister and her husband are plotting against her and that they have hacked her phone, her social media and are listening to her talk.
    She doesnt realize whats even going on either. She believes everything is actually happening like this.
    I dont know how to tell her 😢

    I have hallucinations more often than others, but not to a schizophrenic degree i dont think. I hear people speaking garble outside my room sometimes, hear my name being spoken sometimes, and see objects in my middle or center vision. I also see things jerk into my way when im driving, which makeslife tricky. I am aware these are likely hallucinations after the fact and i am not delusional as far as i can see. I wonder what my gist is.

    Can you tell me the difference between schizophrenia and bipolar

    • @xanderguyer7512
      @xanderguyer7512 2 года назад +2

      In short, schizophrenia is a thought disorder, defined by psychosis. Meanwhile, bipolar disorder is a mood disorder. I'll explain more below.
      .
      Schizophrenia is a disorder primarily characterized by psychosis, which includes hallucinations and delusions. With psychosis, it can be hard to accurately perceive reality, because your mind is making its own. But, sometimes that's not ALL there is to schizophrenia.
      .
      Sometimes, schizophrenia also includes disorganized and cognitive symptoms, which can affect someone in a number of ways. For example, it might make someone speak strangely or struggle with daily tasks, because the organization of their thoughts has been impaired. Not everyone with schizophrenia suffers from disorganized and cognitive symptoms, but it does happen to some people.
      .
      Sometimes, schizophrenia includes negative symptoms, which basically take something away from your life. For example, someone might stop expressing emotions on their face, even if they really feel them. Or, someone might be unable to start a task, even if they really want to. Not everyone with schizophrenia suffers from negative symptoms, but it does happen to some people.
      .
      (Also, if someone only has these negative symptoms, with none of the earlier categories, they probably have something other than schizophrenia going on.)
      .
      Bipolar disorder, meanwhile, is characterized by having both depression and manic episodes. Both mania and depression are mood disorders, but they can really impact your energy level as well. While these two disorders seem very different, they can have overlapping symptoms, which I'll explain more below.
      .
      Despite the fact that these two disorders have really different roots and symptoms, it can get tricky to differentiate the two, and they can be co-morbid (meaning that they occur together). For example, some people with bipolar disorder may have psychotic symptoms when they're in an extreme mood. Often, negative symptoms of schizophrenia act like symptoms of depression. There's actually a disorder--Schizoaffective disorder--that's a combination of a mood disorder, like bipolar, and schizophrenia.
      .
      This was SUPER long, but I really wanted to cover my bases here. I hope this helped!

    My grandma is schizophrenic and she see people “break in through the window” and when we ask her what she’s seeing she says a tiny person is breaking in through a crack in the window and honestly it’s a handful because she says she doesn’t need help and that they’re actually there and we’re the ones that are crazy so what do you suggest we do for her

      My cousin has schizophrenia, sadly he doesn’t not wish to be medicated or go through treatment for it either and it’s progressively getting out of control he can’t drink tap water because he believes the family that he lives with is poisoning it, same with food he buys packaged food and bottles of water all the time and never buys from the same shop, he’s really kind and funny when he isn’t doing too bad but I definitely relate to feeling like the situation is a handful.

    • @xanderguyer7512
      @xanderguyer7512 2 года назад +2

      I CAN give you very general advice on interacting with her when she's experiencing a delusion. So, obviously this is a blanket statement, because I don't know your grandma or your relationship to her. But, it might help to take an approach that's less debunking, and more, "I see you're experiencing that, but I'm not experiencing that. Is there anything I can help with this thing you're experiencing?" It might also help to ask, "Would talking about this thing help?" And, listen non-judgmentally. Of course, you should /never/ validate or encourage a delusion! But, the problem with delusions is that, despite them being totally unreal, your grandma is genuinely experiencing them, and that can be really distressing. She may be alone in experiencing this, but she doesn't need to be alone in coping with it.
