All I can say about this whole S9 drama, is that I can see 3-6 months from now we will see a ton of, "I Was So Wrong About the S9" type videos dropping like mad. As far as the S9 goes, I shot a feature film with the GH5 and I'm pretty confident I can do the same with the S9.
That's awesome. The GH5 has so much love and following behind it, and used to create amazing stuff. If you can share the film or title, I'd like to see it.
I don't hate this camera, but I do generally agree that it's a dud, all things considered. What I mean is, Sony released the A7C a few years ago, and it is basically what the S9 is trying and failing to be. It is full frame, it is smaller than the S9, it has better specs in many areas (including no recording limit), has the articulating screen, and still manages to squeeze in a viewfinder. Currently, the price of a brand new A7c is pretty close to the price of the S9. It's the same issue with the 26mm pancake. Panasonic seems to be implying that because it's a low cost 26mm pancake lens, then "of course" being manual focus and f8 is what they had to do. Meanwhile, Nikon has the 26mm pancake that has autofocus and f2.8 and though it is more expensive than the Panasonic lens, it's still budget friendly. It makes no difference to me, personally. I'm not in the market for a compact full frame. I can definitely understand why so many people are disappointed, though.
thanks for an authentic statement. My 2 cents: I do not percieve hate about the camera. From my side I can say that this entire campaign, mainly from the content creator side opened my eyes. They had been open before, too, but this campaign was a tipping point for me. Creators I trusted and valued before - I see them in a new light now. Trust is damaged and I do not want influencers and YT to even more take this direction. That's my 2 cents, no offence. But, clearly no hate from my side nor on yet another new camera (perfectly fine a manufacturer is trying out sth new)
It’s a camera for very very few. It will not sell well. At the moment in the UK we can pick up a G5 with 12-60 lens for 50% less than the price of this hobbled camera, leaving plenty of change for a nice little prime lens while still saving money. Yes it’s a bigger camera but it’s also got a grip and articulating screen and much much more. It can even use a flash. If you want a really small camera, then a 1” or M4/3 sensor camera may be had for a fraction of the cost and will give great results for most people. In six month’s time, the S9 will probably be sold for a very deep discount, probably cheaper than the current S5 kit offer which is US$1245 including 20% sales tax or £999 UK inclusive. There is also a 10% discount off that if bought direct off the Panasonic web site. Yes, I know that maybe the smaller size appeals but for not much more you can buy a Sony A7C with a nice Sigma prime, which is in a different league to the S9, surely.
IMO, This drama is a combination of the 360 thing weeks before, people wanting honest reviews, media disenfranchisement, a camera that has some technical issues being reviewed by a majority of photographers that would never spend $1500 to nearly $1800 for this type of camera, the marketing of RUclipsrs that need to make click bait statements , mixed messaging on whether the camera is a point and shoot TikTokers dream and at the same time wanting to be a full frame consumer grade photography camera with limitations. I watched so many videos and felt there was something different from other camera launches in the past, Felt like the Lumix marketing was trying to force a viral buzz, that now has been polarized. All for new gear and new cameras. If anything I think it is a wake up call to anyone who reviews cameras. Optics are important too, not just views!
Could you explain it to me? I don't want to misunderstand? But if it's they came out with this camera instead of the S1M2 or whatever it's going to be, that's also my point in this video.
@lukegphotography9081 He can't explain because there is no reason. You just explained that people just want to complain because it's not for them. At best all he can do is explain some nonsense about youtubers hyping it up and not pointing out negatives when in reality every one of them pointed out it's flaws and negatives. RUclipsrs hype just about every piece of gear they get so what makes this camera any different.
@@lukegphotography9081 well since this last comment i would be reluctant to explain as you seem to be in that dismissive frame of mind. So you arent asking in good faith. "if or whatever its going to be"
@@jimgiraffe5253 No, I am interested in you're thoughts and what you have to say. I just wanted to preface it with the fact that most of the complaints are this isn't the S1M2 or a new pro lens which I tried to address in the video. If you have more input, I want to have that conversation.
I was with you until you said Aligator hunting. No thanks!!! Great images from the FZ. I rock an FZ300 as my 'anywhere' camera. Great bridge cameras. I would love the S9 despite the limitations. Great everyday cam. Will have to sell something first though... God Bless!
But yeah, the FZ series is great to keep as a car/travel camera. I've been able to get some great photos with it that I never would have been able get without. I appreciate the compliment. God bless as well.
Thank you for getting it! It's like people mad at a vehicle company because they makes cars when they only want a truck. Different options for different peopled.
I think it's a brilliant camera, the LUTmonster!...but I also love the cameras similar that came before it....Pentax Q series...Pana GM1 and Olympus whatever..SamSung NX 300/500/100..Fuji Xm1/XA7...all no EVF!
I doubt whether there is that target audience for this camera at anything like the asking price. There is so much competition that gives similar and better facilities for much less money. Maybe not full frame apart from one or two but why care whether it’s full frame or not? That won’t make anyone a better photographer or make better videos.
@@hedydd2 what FF bodies do you own?...The release price is for early adopters, it will be available for 12-1300 soon enough and NO other FF cameras come near it for the capability...the so called negatives are work arounds...buy a sports car to carry all the tools?
@@palaneproductions7357 I have a Leica Q2 and a Sony A7III with a good variety of lenses. For autofocus tracking and continuous for video, the Sony, even my old model, is likely to be far superior to the G9 and that alone is a major issue for the people who may buy the G9, whether they know it yet or not. However, I’m not particularly fussed about whether a camera if full frame or a crop sensor camera even down to 1”. I tend to favour Panasonic’s M4/3 cameras, I will admit. I would buy a Leica D-Lux8 with its 17MP [21 total] sensor and fixed f1.7 to f2.8 24-75mm equivalent pocketable camera before buying a G9. At least that has a flash. Both are overpriced compared to others that are not so pocketable, like the original G5 which is a far better camera and £500 cheaper at the moment, complete with a 20-60 lens, leaving plenty of change to buy a complementary little bright prime lens.

Completely agree. It's my view of content creators that changed. I have as much respect for the S9 now without what content creators said about it.
