Great video brother 🤘🏽 I feel like we got stuck with the bill of all the older channels and their logistics haha. And I think this space has lost its touch when it comes to the art and fun behind the tools we call cameras. And when comparing the S9 to its competitors, XE4, X100VI, A7C series.. I think the $1500 is very fair. I think the main issue being the S5II is severely under priced and lumix put themselves in the corner price wise
The S5ii for sure is under price (even though I am not complaining about that) it makes people compare the S9 way to much to the S5ii but they serve different purposes. I hated taking my S5ii on 12 mile hikes, and I did it with ease the other day on the S9. Sure there is limitations with this camera, but the price will eventually drop and be more "reasonable" in terms on price for most people especially in the used market
@@MatthewDangyou i think someone needs to compare this to the Fujifilm XE4… that’s the real competition. It was released years ago at $800.. if they released it these days it would Prbly be around $999-$1199. And the S9 is wayyyy more powerful with all its features.

Me encantó el lanzamiento de la cámara: sobre todo ver lo que mis youtubers dé confianza podían lograr con ella en un lugar tan hermoso.😊
Gerald was doing what people do when they grow their business and think they are more important than they are. He's now mad and trying to harm people like you, Lumix, creators, and their customers. The reviews were very based. He's trying to take away advantages others get, he no longer does.
Gonna create and entire video around this idea hopefully should be out this Friday but I think I have an idea on how they could do it Short answer! Yes it should be easily possible
Nah! I actually didn't like the camera at first even though I had fun at Japan, but the more I did use it and start to understand the use cases is when I started liking it. Now this is for sure the only camera I would take on vacations
I enjoyed seeing the S9 launch videos. A little perspective here. I worked with 16 mm film. After you loaded the film mag into the camera - inside a dark bag so you won't expose the negative film to any kind of light..... you would be lucky to have 4 minutes of film to shoot with - and there was zero audio. That had to be done on a separate recorder. In short we shot feature-length films. With that chaotic workflow. The S9 has 15 minutes of 4K video.... I hate to say it, but the only limitations I see are the people and not the equipment. I think all the creators, with the short time they had with the S9 at lunch - gave a fair review of the camera. I agree with you about the price. It's too close to the s5 ii. Looking forward to more Lumix content.
I think you nail it about the price. I got the G9 for 400 bucks and have no complains about the contrast autofocus, and I am sure I'll be super happy with the g9ii when I get it for half of what it is today. And yeah you are not a sellout, is just that everyone that is given a 1600usd camera to play around will like it. I feel what Gerald was saying it's true though, but it's more about the state of social media where you HAVE to entertain to make money, and for cameras that's gear videos.
Started on the G7 as well. S5 and S1 now. I love the idea of the S9, having a stripped down version of an S5. They're good value cameras, and I don't wanna see Lumix go away. So by all means, be a shill! Save the brand.
I agree! Initially, I didn't see the point of the S9 as the S5II exists...but I'm thinking of getting one as I'd take it everywhere with me and I'd film more stuff and have fun - rather than overthinking everything as I do with my S1H.
For sure! And that is the perspective of a ton of other creators too! I wasn't sold on this camera when I first received it, but the more and more I use it the more I grow to really enjoy using it
Mr. Undone is undone. The whole thing is a foolish self-own which will only ruin his relationship with more brands. That essay needed to be thrown away and forgotten rather than recorded and posted. And it’s about time we let it go and moved on. The review system isn’t perfect but none are so let’s get back to making positive content.
The Real Irony is that Panasonic is giving for FREE the Lens everyone is complaining about. Just about every Camera BRAND has recycled just about everything in their Portfolio of GEAR. And nobody including Sony is giving anyone a discount on those newly released products. So picking on Panasonic when those that Review Sony GEAR have been far worse is more than just a bit Fishy. Then the nerve to Praise Sony at the end. Gerald must think folks are real Dumb.
A lot of the negative comments about this camera have been kind of weird and misguided. This camera isn't for me, I'll stick with my s5 and s5iix for now, but I don't get the hate. It's like people who drive a Ford Mustang getting mad at Ford for making the Fusion and then getting mad at the people who want to buy that car. It's a different segment for a different audience, they can both exist in the camera market.
1:27 nice quote Matthew…fan of Tom Holland huh? 😂 Thanks for sharing this video, I’ve enjoyed your content and will continue to do so. I think you give good honest feedback on products, lumix or not.
Give me the S9 and a manual focus Voigtlander lens and I will never pick up a GRiii again. Just sayin there is a place for this camera and I am looking forward to its release. Need something small and light to use for street that doesn't cost as much as a full frame Leica.
Hey Matt I think you are missing the point here. RUclips Creators like yourself keep calling this camera a CONTENT CREATORS Camera and its NOT . Its just a really cool full frame pocket ,travel point and shoot. a 10 minute record time makes it nothing more . I agree For what it is the Camera is Great! but no matter how many great features they pack into that tiny box the record limits make it what it really is ... A TOURIST CAMERA That's why you enjoyed it so much , both times you used it and had so much fun you were traveling. Try taking a 15 -20 min walk recording a Vlog or a sit down studio interview and you will get my point. B ROLL CAMERA AT BEST. LOW LIGHT street photography ABSOLUTLY! P.S. Love your channel , I have watched every Video and enjoyed them all.
Fair, content creator camera excluding YTbers with the record limit, my most recent video asking other creators though was filmed entirely on the S9 though, I am currently filming BROLL for an entire other video with the S9. For vlogging, most times I would never personally record over 15 minutes, but totally agree that this camera should have at least the ability to change the record limit to allow the camera to over heat which I will talk about in another video.
@@MatthewDangyou Thanks for the reply, I think someone like yourself that's been at this for a wile has the experience to get the footage one would need in a short amount of time , but for someone like myself getting ready to shoot my first video for my channel I would need much more record time as a beginner , the footage I have ready to go now took over 30min. Also if I could ever get my hands on a s9 I have a Mod that would remove the recording limit on that camera . I am surprised Lumix did not try figure this out first but they were probably in rush to market situation at the time.
@@krugerdesign For sure! Early days definetly took much much longer filming talking heads. But hoping I have an idea that could be theoretically added in a firmware update that could help this camera. Good luck on your first video as well!
I hope lumix will learn something from the s9... There's a reason cameras have A and P on the mode dial you don't need to dumb cameras down for people. I hope this camera is a success for lumix but it's definitely not for me...

I see it is very demotivated for you young people. Gerard does not understand that this trip are for videographers and photographers. Gerard is only a reviewer, to my knowledge, and does not do professional videography or photography. Exactly, Gerard does not know when, how and which tone to say something. He looked angry because Lumix did not invite him. Robin Wong explained it correctly in his blogs. If you are not invited then you are not important as you think.
I don't have a problem with him😂 but "With Great Power, comes great responsibility" too, and I mentioned that I agreed with his points in part of this video, but it did come with a lot of unneeded backlash to a ton of smaller channels to people trying to make honest reviews 🤷🏼♂
An easy solution would be ...When invited for a launch or given a camera ...to leave an obvious note on the corner of the video saying it is a sponsored video ...
Actually (at least for myself the beginning of the video says this video includes a paid sponsored/even though technically I lost money going to Japan and didn’t make money though) it was a week trip for me who runs my own business. So yeah free trip, long term loaner camera, free stay and all but a weeks worth of “actual work” was lost👍🏻
Using the guitar as a model, you need to learn it to sound great - or even good. There are no shortcuts. The same goes for art, cooking, etc. Why does a camera need to be so dumbed down? You want that? Pull out your phone.
Sure, but also as a musician for past 13+ years not every guitar is created to the same quality, and you can get more complex stuff for your guitar with boards and pedals. But there is still “beginner guitars” even though they all are still a guitar. So people need intro cameras to grow out of one day, but I still mentioned that I think the price is a little high for this camera nonetheless
@@MatthewDangyou fair. But you still need to learn the craft if it’s a Squier or a Custom Shop Les Paul. I personally went back to my LUMIX LX100 to fine tune the craft the hard way :) Thnx for your thoughts.
besides what Gerald has said, the Panasonic S9 Is just a bad camera. It has no hot shoe, no microphone Jack, no mechanical shutter and no evf, the price is kinda high for what it gives you.
I would be curious if everyone had the same opinion if the S5ii was priced at $2500 and the X $2700. But for sure I feel like the price of this camera is high, which I do mention, but the people who will want to use this camera aren’t gonna care about those things. My first camera form lumix didn’t have all those things either but once the used and discount market roles around is when I see more people buying this camera
@@MatthewDangyou actually i think if the price for s5ii/x was 2300/2500 that was justified due to high amount of features. my own complaint is that this cam looks exactly like a photo centric camera and has nothing of it in its body. maybe lumix had to use the same s5 body but with no evf and m.shutter. like the zve1. idk… i’m ready to spent a lot more than 1500, i wanted this camera so badly
My entire channel is dedicated to making content about Lumix cameras and how to use them. So sure, but there are other channels for Sony users, black magic, canon, etc. So when the next Sony camera gets released, are these the same type of comments those creators receive who review the camera? If not then the viewers who are commenting nonsense (without reviewing or watching people's full videos) are just sheep following a wolf

Professionals who have their studios and run photo/video businesses already have almost every camera targeted to them, just how hard is to graciously give the rest of us 1 choice?
I'm just worried now that RUclipsrs like you will be afraid to say good things/make content about this camera, as the hate comments made everyone walk on eggshells. I want to buy this camera, and just hope that people will create content showing how to best use it and stuff, without feeling like they can't say good things about it or they will lose subscribers.
for sure! well good news I have a bunch of videos in the queue still on this camera including the entire menu system, my favorite feature, and some more content too!
He's trying to take away advantages others get, he no longer does.
do you think it's possible for Lumix to do a firmware update to increase the record limit?
Gonna create and entire video around this idea hopefully should be out this Friday but I think I have an idea on how they could do it
Short answer! Yes it should be easily possible
Very sensible video
Perhaps you got so much fun in Japan that it makes sense you are so happy about the it and everything related
Good video. Thanks. toronto canada.
The S9 looks interesting. But I'm sticking to Pan m43. No FF for me.
For sure!
😂
Do you still have the g9ii? I would like to see a test of it with the Viltrox EF Mii and the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8
I do! I don't have that lens sadly!
I love Lumix and I still use 3 GH5 cameras to shoot my short films...
1:27 nice quote Matthew…fan of Tom Holland huh? 😂 Thanks for sharing this video, I’ve enjoyed your content and will continue to do so. I think you give good honest feedback on products, lumix or not.
HAHAH didn't know that was from Tom Holland! Thanks Mate
@@MatthewDangyou oh really? That’s funny. Where did you get the quote from? Maybe he copied someone else
@@philrodfilms Maybe I just heard him say it and subconsciously thought I never heard it before 😂 but hey I don't mind, Tom seems cool
@@MatthewDangyou it’s a fantastic quote!
What they should really do, is make a flagship camera that small.
If you watch 99% of Tik Tok, IG or Reel, most video last less than 1-2 minutes.
@@kentmemories Thats true, yet those platforms are mostly for people using just a phone to create
I hope lumix will learn something from the s9... There's a reason cameras have A and P on the mode dial you don't need to dumb cameras down for people. I hope this camera is a success for lumix but it's definitely not for me...
Hahahaha, you all should not apologize for anything, You all did nothing bad. I understand all your reviews and everyone is intelligent enough to understand all review made by others. If they don’t like a product they will not buy.
I’m 53 year and been following you for many years. I see that you are young guy beginning your career. Don’t be demotivated by this whole discussion.
At no time should you never feel bad about taking a trip to Japan via LUMIX. Amazing opportunity 👍🏻Any naysayers are just bitter. 😢
if you have a problem with gerald undone, you should probably text him. If you don't have his number, you probably don't know him very well
I don't have a problem with him😂 but "With Great Power, comes great responsibility" too, and I mentioned that I agreed with his points in part of this video, but it did come with a lot of unneeded backlash to a ton of smaller channels to people trying to make honest reviews 🤷🏼♂
You should do a giveaway and let me win that giveaway 🤣 lol I want the camera but dropping 1499 is sick 😭
Wait for the used market or when Black Friday rolls around that is when I see people picking up this camera IMO
@@MatthewDangyou def going to wait!
You have to pick a side. Are you going to bring objective content to your viewers or are you going to be a paid mouthpiece for Panasonic?
Truth: you guys are full time advertisers for brands.
@@MatthewDangyou yea that’s fine. I watch the videos knowing you guys make a living advertising.
@@jaymills1720 That is a good perspective to have too! (granted I don't make a living off RUclips and my actual job is running a video production company)
Gh6 is king.s5iix runnerup. Pro services barnone. The only reason for unlimited record time is for like my situation where i record karate for hr n half . My 2 cent .🎉Thank You good for you ! I dont like to fly and ya cant drive ther
And that is why they have those cameras too! Different cameras for different purposes :)
