I saw your reaction through tears, that's the effect of Nightwish music on me. And it moved you from what I saw. It's one of their older songs, but the performance in Buenos Aires is masterful. As you can see, ALL the band members are contributing to this.
For me one of the best songs, not only of NW but the history of music. This versión in particular.

one Thing Nightwish did, do and will do to me(hopefilly), is making my Fantasy painting surreal but hopefull Pictures, or Happenings. I catched myself smiling, as somehow i imagined, that you meet an 6.7`inch dark looking bearded Male in Jeans and Leather on the sidewalk or shopping mile, he sees you and start smiling, walks up to you, you are an little bit concerened, and then he just starts talking with his whiskey hardend Voice, thanking you for the last Nightwish Review, and how he enjoyed it, but plz do an (set title here) next. he surely would love to watch you, and disscuss Dawkins, Shoemaker and Poe Influences in the Comments :)

Tuomas writes, composes and puts lyrics to these songs. Kai is the drummer, Marco on bass, Empu on guitar. Jukka was drummer in 2013.
Tuomas writes most of the songs about his feelings & emotions, poetry, science , life in general and this song is another one of his masterpiece 's. This drummer is Kai Hahto he replace the drummer Yukka in 2015 . Yukka gave up drumming after 20 years with the band because of severe insomnia , he now works in the band management he was the drummer in 2013 at the Wacken show where you saw the song Ghost Love Score

This song is in my opinion the most emotional song Toumas has ever written and expresses his soul and with Floor he has found the singer who can express this vocally and emotionally. Every time i hear this, i have tears in my eyes.

I first saw Dead Boy's Poem performed while watching the entire Buenos Aires show here on youTube. I hadn't heard it before and it stopped me in my tracks. I found myself sobbing. In the many times I've watched it since, I've come to realize the power and unselfish musicianship each band member brings to the song. Floor's interpretation of it is particularly empathic, but every note by every member is masterful, as well. Thanks for the genuine reaction! We feel you.

Tuomas (keyboard man) writes almost all their music and lyrics. You can often catch him singing along. Even the older songs like this one. So after all those years he's still not tired of his own music. He still feels it. And Floor breathed new life in so many of the old songs as well. She has her own sound and gives her own twist to it. Plus she is a master in conveying emotions.

Such a lovely reaction again Psyche. Drummer is heart beat of music, without that music is nothing. In this show Kai Hahto is the drummer. In Wacken festival the drummer was Jukka Nevalainen. Jukka and Kai are good friends, Kai was actually Jukka's mentor.

Great reaction. Just to let you know that Jukka Nevalainen the drummer at Wacken 2013 suffered from dreadful insomnia and stopped drumming shortly afterwards although still working with the band. He picked his friend and part time drumming coach, Kai Hahto to replace him and Kai is amazing if less flamboyant. Known as the human metronome but a super drummer.

As soon as Floor started singing my eyes went all misty. One thing someone pointed out on another reaction to this song that I thought was pretty poignant….Emppu’s guitar solo…the expression on his face when he finishes…not his usual smiling, happy visage. Maybe that demonstrates the power of this song…. it even got to him.
Marko's instrument is called "The Beast". The top neck is a 4 string bass guitar, and the bottom one is a 6 string electric guitar.
The Drummer is Kai Hahto .
On 6 August 2014, it was announced that Hahto will be playing drums on the forthcoming Nightwish album, replacing Jukka Nevalainen, who went on hiatus from the band due to insomnia, and Hahto performed on all live shows since that date. On July 15, 2019, Hahto became Nightwish's permanent drummer following Nevalainen's decision not to return to the band.
For Tuomas himself this song means a lot.
He has said that this is the “mother of all Nightwish songs, about himself and how he wants people to remember him as when he passes away.

As you watch and/or listen to more of their of catalog their you will find a depth to Tuomas ‘s music. This is one of their older songs and in fact this tour was curated from their older catalog of songs mostly written both music and lyrics by Tuomas. You notice the sober mood of the guitarist, Empuu who normally smiles in most of his performances due to the lyrics and the poem spoken by the boy. Jukka the previous drummer had to leave to medical issues and recommended Kai. Jukka is more intense while Kai is like a machine or metronome,

Tuomas was singing along because he composed it, lyrics and all. The brainchild behind all Nightwish music. That with the goddess that is Floor, makes this bands music something really special. I've never seen nor heard anything like them/her. I know you follow your own path as far as suggestions, but I humbly implore you to please review some from her solo concert in Oslo just recently. With her own band, she does a range of Nightwish song's, to covers, to renditions of her own early work in previous bands. She is truly sublime ...... nothing really more to say, she is a once in a lifetime talent and should be more universally known, at least here in the US anyway.....

This drummer is not the same you saw in your previous reactions. The original drummer Jukka Nevalainen quit because of health problems (he's still involved in the band's management, but he doesn't play anymore. The drummer in this video is the legendary Kai Hahto, from Wintersun. He joined the band when Jukka left in 2015. It's not a showman like Jukka was, but he's powerful as a machine gun and precise like a swiss watch. And I'm saying this as a swiss guy living in Switzerland. :) Great reaction BTW... I'll be waiting for the next one! (You need to listen to Song of myself!)
They are both great, so hard to tell apart
Jukka is a wild man. Arms flailing holding drum stick striking precisely to its targets as a warrior would with his swords. He is so entertaining to watch.
@@onearthonelegion yes there both great. However Jukka looks like he's falling of his stool at times also stands up and gets into the crowd. Kai's playing is tight and more classic drumming style. Short controlled movements to beats. His double kicks are some of the best I've ever heard. But again Yukka hunching over the kit just killing with every beat. Again He's just so fun to watch.
Nightwish had/have two drummers. In this one. it is Kai. In the the other songs you have seen .... that's Pekka. Both are amazing drummers. But, Pekka ... that's my favorite :) And again .... i like you're reaction alot. I only check your hardrock and metal ones. I play that myself. You have to listen to the singer in Beast In Black. That's real breath control and he is like Floor .... can sing the most styles. BEAST IN BLACK - Blind And Frozen. I like that video too. Thanx

Thank you Taz - I actually do care about what I do, and I do a hell of a lot for no income whatsoever as all the songs I play, the revenue goes straight to the artists or record company, that's why everyone has Patreon, Donations, Merc etc, and they push that before they've even started the video 😂🤦🏽♀️. The drummer in this sad, but beautifull song is Kai Hahto. At Wacken 2013 and earlier is Jukka Nevalainen. Both are exceptional great drummers, but very different in style. Kai took over august 6 2014, because Jukka had serious trouble with the insomnia desease and is now a full member of NW

Hey Psyche, when I watched you listening to this song, I couldn't help noticing a glipse of emotional feelings you had. That's fine, this is for me a very emotional song. Every time I listen to it, it goes straight to my heart. And that's a lot of times. It's quite hard to pick one feature out of this perfomance which makes it so good. Every detail is connected to another one and finally you have to raise your hands and say - They are just so good. Tuomas has mentioned that one earlier album took him some 18 months of intensive composing work. He wanted to find the best combinations of every note, which would sound excatly right. This song is based around a hypothetical situation.
This is a very emotional and personal song for Tuomas. The small child's voice represents Tuomas' inner child speaking.
When asked what this song was about "Tuomas has said about this song, that it's about if he were to die tomorrow, what would he want to say to everyone that he loves, and that love him..."
Notice the small boy on the screen reaching out to the flying swans on the screen. The swan is the guide to the afterlife in Finnish mythology. He is reaching out to implore them to take him with to the other side. A beautiful song filled with sadness from an unfulfilled destiny.

As you know by now, many of the old songs, are based Tuomas's own thoughts and experiences, throughout his life, from childhood and up. (that's why he sings along) This one is obviously thoughts from his childhood - and many people can relate to this. And the way the whole band delivers these thoughts - lead by Floor's incredible stage performance and voice techniques - these thoughts, or similar thoughts, based on our individual childhood - comes to life in our minds.
This is what Nightwish are mastering like very very few other bands.
In another song "The Poet and the Pendulum", ( Wembley 2015) Tuomas actually have the technicians kill Floor's voice in his ear-pieces, to keep concentrated - it's even better than this one!!
In Dead Boy's Poem, I think Floor is using more than two octaves, to increase the emotions in the song - and we all feel it. Her techniques to express emotions and passions are unbelievable - even when you have heard this song 50 times - it still hits hard.

I get paid nothing for my time. Subscribing doesn't pay the channel holder it only lets you know what I am playing. That is why channels charge or have Patreon, Donations etc. I do not get paid for all that I do and produce content for free so you can watch for free and I'm an extremely busy woman. This is a great performance I really love, with such massive emotional impact. I am glad you appreciate the music and skill of the band members.
btw, The band members are using a clic track in their in-ear monitors which help keep them in sync, and yes, the drummer Kai is very skilled, to say the least.
As Tuomas recently confirmed, the original drummer Jukka is currently the CEO of Nightwish.

@@psycheinc-theSLC excuse me the correct spelling should be "Click Track". Since Nightwish use a lot of Symphony/Choir and other sounds in their backing tracks they need it to stay in sync with the backing tracks and each other.

Hi Psyche, just Love your reactions to this phenomenal band and Floor, fyi this is a different drummer than GLS & StoryTime, this is Kai Hahto, who replaced Jukka aka "The Boss" for health reasons - chronic insomnia back in late 2013/14,Kai is great but less of the enthusiasm & emotional energy of Jukka. cheers

This is the only Nightwish song I actually prefer Tarja's version.
Tarja's delicate, whimsical version of the lyric is the best.
That's ok On-Eye - each to their own. We can't all like the same thing and genuine difference backed up with logic is healthy. 🌹
