Hello Psyche Thompson ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me.
Welcome [BACK] to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Wacken Open Air (Germany) in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience.
As I could find, you already reacted several months ago to the "Phantom Of The Opera" (live 2005) performance, with their 1st female singer, Tarja Turunen - but for some reasons the comments are closed there.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Following the success of Beste Zangers show, Floor performed a series of solo concerts in the Netherlands in early 2020 with songs from her entire career (After Forever, Revamp, Northward, Nightwish, Beste Zangers) following that the last and the largest concert, at AFAS Amsterdam, to be professionally recorded and broadcast online, with the support of a crowdfunding campaign. After several rescheduling, due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the concert took place at the beginning of September 2021 in 3 consecutive days. Hello Gabriel - I hope your Sunday is going well - not sure where you are in the world, whether you behind or in front in hours, but which ever way, I hope Sunday will be good for you.
You are the FIRST ever to get a response from me to an email like this as I do not like them at all and usually delete marketing as I won't be forced or coerced into anything., especially as they don't pay me to play stuff they they get bonuses for and all the revenue goes to the record company. But I liked your intro and style as I'm good at reading between the lines - really nice Gabriel (and I adore the name Gabriel). I've worked with may BIG stars in my career and know many so I understand talent. To me, this performance was second to none in my opinion and I actually take what I do very seriously because of my background in media - and for keeping 'demurely' quiet and respectful about things in the media, hence I am respected for that in the industry. I will use your list as my guide. Please note I play many genres as I have no prejudices and like many things, but want to highlight REAL talent to the masses and it seems to be paying off when things that I play being picked up all over the World - comments as proof and dealings with Google and You Tube directly. Many play these videos purely for views, I play them for inclusivity, education and teaching people to broaden their minds as to what is out there, and views help too. I will be widening the channel to not just be constrained by Reactions as everyone seems to want to to it now and it dilutes the actual process into a comedy show sometimes, which is not me at all. Interviews etc. will hopefully come too soon. Check out my Community Page or Google me so you have some prospective. Most channels don't have the exposure on Google like myself, so I am actually the real deal and people take note of what I say, because I am genuine, and as said I really DO care and respect the work put before me. I'm from Romania (GMT +2), I'm 54 years old and I have a job in IT (9-18), so I'm just a fan. No business connection with Nightwish, of any kind. But they changed my life for the better with the optimistic energy of their music, me and many other fans around the world. There are people who have found support in their music in the fight against illness, physical or mental, as well as strong emotional support in the face of life's trials.
I guess what I do can be called marketing (I've been told that a few times before), and I admit I'd be happy to see them as popular as the Beatles, for example. But I'd be just as happy if you didn't consider this a reason to have other reactions to Nightwish, but decided to listen to their music just for you. Please do not consider yourself obliged in any way by my approach. In an increasingly uncertain world, they have iconic lyrics that remind us of who we are, such as "Fear is a choice you embrace." For me, that matters.

This band’s genius and talent will continue to surprise you. I won’t suggest specific songs, but recommend you start with live performances with Floor as lead singer for a little while, then you could expand to others. Enjoy your Nightwish journey. I definitely have.
A road that can take you down many paths, but they all lead to enjoyment. I am a recent traveler on this path also. Nightwish is a collection of great talent and has been for some time, don't neglect their other amazing singers who brought their own talents, resist comparisons and opt for the experience. Floor is of course Floor and she is another path to a hidden realm, but that realm has many entrances and crossing paths. I recommend her appearance with Epica Sancta Terra to show just how wide part of that realm is.

When you get to hear more, I believe you will become to appreciate just how professionally talented everyone is in this band and that Tuomas is right up there with the best composers that have ever lived. All Nightwish songs are different from each other with surprises within each. They take you on a journey. In your search for their songs to react to be aware that they have had three lead singers since 1996. Floor became an official member in 2013. So, if you're looking for more Floor songs keep that in mind. She is my favorite all time singer and I've been around for 78 years. Only two of their songs require some research before reacting to understand the context. In a nutshell, The Greatest Show on Earth is about evolution (Tampere) and The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley), which is very personal to Tuomas founder/composer/keyboards. The song is about the deep depression he went into because of the huge fan backlash after he fired the first singer in the band. Both these songs plus GLS make up an epic trifecta. 😊🤘

This band!! I played this for a couple of my sisters on big screen about two years ago. Each of them just went to the level of amazement I first had with this song. You can’t turn away even if it’s almost crazy to remain. 🔥

welcome to the fantastic symphonic metal universe of Nightwish Band, their live performances are some of the things that come so close to epic that they get to be mythical and of course Floor Jansen, queen of the stage and goddess of music, she can sing anything in any musical style she wants (WARNING! her voice, her stage presence, her charisma, in one word: her "spell" is highly addictive).
this concert (wacken 2013) is incredibly epic and deserves to be watched and reacted entirely, song by song, in particular I suggest these three songs: "song of myself", "storytime" and "ever dream"
this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" from 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from 2015 concert in tampere - finland (actually there is a fourth best performance: "dead boy's poem" from the 2018 concert in buenos aires).

This is not a competition. The program is made for Dutch TV. The idea behind the show is that they invite 7 vocalist from different genre's and each episode one of them is at the center of attention. The other vocalist will either perform a song from the artist or sing a song that has a special meaning to them. That changed radically after this show aired. The woman is ridiculously versatile. She can literally sing any song in any style she likes

Thank you for this awesome reaction. Metal music is one of the most diverse genres. It has many subgenres and this here is symphonic metal. The genre is known for it's arrangements, due to the classical elements that comes with. A band might even come with a symphonic orchestra in some bigger venues. Nightwish is one of the bands that defined the genre in the early 90's, with bands like Epica, Within Temptation or Therion. There are more songs with this caliber, so enjoy the journey.

Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of around four octaves +. When listening to Floor sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres, and is a Master vocal coach. She often refers to herself as a vocal nerd. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. Welcome to NW SLC, i saw that you were very impressed by the frontwoman of the Finnish Symphonic Metal band Nightwish Floor Jansen (Dutch). Yes she is incredible. 10 Months earlier she came as a substitute for Anette Olzon, who became sick in the middle of a world tour and had to goo to the hospital. NW called Floor and she said yes. She had to learn the setlist in 48 hours (there is a documentary about that) and did this on the flight from the Netherlands to Salt Lake City, where she joined the band on their way to Seattle for the next concert. GLS wasn't even on the list, but because she loved this song so much, NW put it on the list. The last part of the song, the previous singer(s) didn't do, so she made it her own, with as result 10 months later at Wacken 2013 this MASTERPIECE. When she belt so high, you get shiversor goosebumps we call that a FLOORGASM. Congrats with your first one. Yes her name is Floor Jansen (pronounce her first name just as the English word Floor (although her name means: flower. Her last name is pronounced as: Yahn-Sen, so you did well). Although the band is Finnish their 3rd female vocalist isn’t, she is Dutch.
Floor was born on Februari 21st, 1981 in Goirle the Netherlands. At the age of 16 she started her career as (initially) just as background singer from the Dutch metal band ‘After Forever’ in 1997 but real soon she took over the lead until early 2009 and the band fell apart. Parallel she studied at the Dutch Rock Academy in Tilburg starting in 1999 where she graduated in 2003 and spent two years on classical training with the National Conservatory. She studied Musical Theatre and one year Opera. She plays guitar, piano and flute and has completed 12 years of music studies. She’s a Light Lyric Soprano and her vocalrange runs from E3 to D6. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons.
On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ‘ReVamp’, which was disbanded in September 2016. In August 2010 Jansen was a guest in the TV program De tiende van Tijl. In that program she sang an aria by Puccini. From October 1, 2012 (while she was within ReVamp, but recovering from a burnout) Floor replaced Anette Olzon as the singer of Nightwish halfway their Imaginaerum World Tour. After one year, on October 9th 2013, it was announced that she was to become the group's regular new front singer.

It is not about your perception of the music, but about ours. Using headphones is mandatory. You need to mix the original RUclips audio with your own audio. Under no circumstances can you use a microphone to record a loudspeaker. The microphone does not have a flat frequency reponse, the speakers do not have a flat frequency response, and your room is also influencing the sound as well. Usually this results in a very tinny sound. Your audio is somewhat better, but not as good as the people who use headphones.
I have attended more than a dozen Nightwish shows in six countries on three continents. But the Amsterdam shows in 2015 were top of the bill, mostly because I was in the sweet spot acoustically. The gutpounding feeling of the double bass drums and the bass guitar, all the extra instrumentation, and that glorious voice soaring above it all was lifechanging. There is no DVD that can reproduce this. Most home systems cannot even reproduce what is on the DVD. Your reaction is to a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy. I did like it, but mostly because of you.

Most people wear them for sound but more importantly optics, but I'm not a sheep nor a DJ. My rules, my way. You don't pay me to do this or for my time and effort. You already know the songs so the reaction videos are about the person reacting to what they see and hear. If I'm not giving you the sound you want then I understand if you choose to go which is fine as my subscribers come from all walks and genres of life and they don't watch to see if I'm going to wear headphones - No one is going to tell me what I should or shouldn't do on my channel. I'm not a sheep and I do not follow the crowd but carve my own way and happy to do so even if it means I'm on my own as I stand by my integrity and convictions and not lectured by someone whose not doing the work or paying me! And I can assure you that Floor would appreciate my stance 100%. My channel, my way. Also this is about MY feelings to what I see that's what people subscribe to. Some channels wear headphones but their reacting doesn't match the optics! Also subscribers don't make a channel or pay for them either as we get paid nothing as the revenue goes to the artists and record company. So people should be appreciative of what is shown. Most channels have Patreon, donations etc. Here I only request the odd cup oif ☕ which is a small price to pay for the amount of work I do for free so you can all watch for free and I'm a very busy person! let's see how many people are willing to do that, but a 'virtual coffee'! On my channel I am 'trying' to showcase talent the right way so that more people can then go off and do their own research if they liked what they initally heard and download the tracks. That's how I run MY channel. And 'I' chose to show Night Wish not pushed by marketing! You are more than welcome to explore the Nightwish musical catalogue at your leisure. Some may still try to push you in one direction or another, while others seem to have a regular role as guides to the better videos (there are always lesser-quality copies out there). In particular, Gabriel Bardac posted a list of links to many of their tunes... I do not believe he is trying to force you, but once you find a title that you would like to listen to, you might consider consulting his list to find one that has high-quality audio and video.

As I said in this video, I could easily put the instrumental part of this music in fact, it depends where the music, voice and instrumental parts where put in the movie, but all of it could be placed in the relevant parts. Just stunning as far as I am concerned and I'm honest and unprejudiced in my opinions = fair.

That was a kick in the knickers, wasn't it? Private Marshall Nightwish Army reporting for duty. Glad you enjoyed it Psyche and, glad you're here.. You have fine taste in music. There is so much more. This entire concert can be reacted to from the beginning, one song at a time. There are no bad songs and each one you hear is very different from the other. And each one will become your new favorite. That might sound ridiculous but we have seen it over and over again. This is a live band. This is a rarity that the live music is better than the engineered versions. Stick with live.
General Gabriel should arrive to give you a road map and a history to help you on this most magical of journeys. A few of my suggestions outside of this concert venue, Yours is an empty Hope, Wembley. (The cruise ship video is not as good) How's the heart, Planet Rock Acoustic version and I want my tears back, and Dead Boys Poem, Buenos Aires Argentina.

Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6)
She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot.
Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.
