+La Laura This is nice clean music. It upsets me the garbage we have today...smh. Seems like everything is about sex, drinking, getting high, etc. Simply convincing people to do destructive behavior.
+La Laura Just what I was thinking! I live in another house, i go to another school, I've fallen in and out of love, my sister moved out, my dad changed jobs, i'm in college now, I' ve lost loved ones... god I even have another dog...
My younger brother committed suicide last weekend by overdosing on something. He was found with headphones on, presumably listening to something. This is his youtube account. He made a playlist containing 6 songs that was edited the day he passed. This is one of the 6 songs. With the method he used, he was dead after about 30 minutes, probably unconscious around 12 minutes. I like to think that it was peaceful for him with his music on. I love you Myles, I'll miss you everyday for the rest of my life.
I’m really sorry man. That’s an unimaginable pain I wouldn’t ever wish on even my worst enemies. Take time to heal and know that he’s looking down at you from above ❤️
TRIGGER WARNING This hits EXTREMELY hard; I've been suicidal off-and-on for YEARS, with each subsequent attempt bringing me closer to actually dying than the previous one. Much love to you and your brother. I'm so sorry. There is no easy answer to this. Now I wanna cry. :(
How to Save a life, you found me, happiness those three were on repeat when I first tried and contemplated with the idea of suicide. I am not scared of pain, I been through the WORST kind of pain someone can imagine. My only thought was the PAIN other people get, the blow back if I die. Most people are worried about the pain they might feel during it, i feel about all the people I might let down.
The fray helped me through some pretty dark times too. I actually have to broken light bulb from the album cover tattooed on my arm bc of how much they mean to me, and that they’ve been my favorite band so long.
Yes. I was 10 and in the fifth grade when this song came out. Now I just graduated high school in 2013 and a freshman in college. Time flies. The good old days. I miss my childhood. I'll be 19 May 31st.. I feel old.
I dont remember the year this song came out but I got it on release and I have love it since. It is one of the songs that will be loved and remembered for a long time. I'm 13 qnd have been listnening to it since I'm 6. Its a great song!
Can we just appreciate how amazing The Fray are? Once they became the complete band they have remained a symbol of what it means to be just a great band. They don't do drugs, they don't party or do anything obscene, yet they have huge tours, make top selling albums, and deliver songs of passion and true emotion. You never see them reported for scandals because they don't get caught in the modern culture of acting crazy and being extravagant. They play, record, and perform. That's it, and they are famous for just that, nothing else. How beautiful is that? How many bands or musicians can truly say they are famous solely because of their music and nothing else at all? I absolutely love The Fray for they are simply amazing.
the fray should sue the crap out of chainsmokers, its getting ridiculous, how modern 'good' songs are totally ripping off artists that rarely receive recognition. they should set the precedent.
actually this song was a radio hit plus this song was featured on shows like shrubs. the fray isnt a big mainstream band but they well known look up how to save a life it has over 100 million views
Back when the Fray's first two singles were released, I thought they might end up being the best pop rock band ever. It's a shame they couldn't keep it up, but I can still yell along to Over My Head and How To Save A Life as if the world was ending around me.
Honestly, even after 10 years they're still my favorite band. Their most recent album isn't bad, you should go ahead and listen to some of those songs. It's really sad though that they aren't getting as much recognition that they truly deserve. It's a shame that this generation isn't into good music like there was in 2005.
Their first two albums, The Fray and How to Save a Life were pretty good imho, and both generated big singles. I didn't like scars and stories too much but I think Helios is a bit better.
+Izzy S I'm 12 and my generation has parents that just do expose them to this kind of music which is kind of sad. But my parents do expose my to good music not just weird pop trash. But don't get me wrong I do like pop
I really want to go to their concert when they come to boston. this song means so much to me. my best friend passed away a year and a half ago and this was our song. I will bring her picture with me and sing the lyrics as loud as I can so she can hear me from heaven. I love you Brittany. RIP 😥😥
@@AndrewJM It was pretty popular and got a fair amount of airtime but it was short lived. Not sure if the band is still together but if they are I would be interested to hear some new songs
Crazy how a song can trigger a childhood full of emotions… we use to be so young guys… hope everyone on here finds love happiness and something worth remembering … memories all we got don’t ever forget it
To whoever’s reading this we might not know each other but I wish you all the best in life, The Sky’s The Limit.... whatever you put your mind into you could do it! Don’t let no one else tell you otherwise..God bless y’all❤️
The songs about the lead singer and his brother who used to be in The Fray and basically the falling out the two had when he left or got cut from the band. "I wish you were a stranger I could disengage" - makes sense about the situation between the brothers. You wanna let go of them but its hard when its your family.
+itis LUCIAN "shes on your mind" the "your" is refering to his brother the "she" is just some chic. to me it sounds like they wete fighting over a girl but idk

@@shanakasilva3398 I can relate to feeling that way as well. Please don't leave this earth. You are wanted. You are needed. You are loved. I can't imagine the pain you've felt in your life, but if you feel no one cares, I do. And that breaks my heart you've felt that way. You are worth so much. I hope you are okay.
you know what the same thing happened to me. I almost took my life life but their song you found me saved me life. And im glad your still here because god made all of us for a reason and thats what i learned from what i almost did
"Suddenly i become part of the past. I'm becoming the part that don't last. I'm losing you and its effortless." WOW HOW POWERFUL THESE WORDS ARE... SO VERY POWERFUL INDEED! Ugh
I have a ton of good memories associated with The Fray. They blew up when i was 16. Three of the first girls i kissed this brings me back to. Maddie, Morgan and Megan. Maddie and Megan were ballerinas. My brother, friends and I were wrestlers. We were listening to this at a bonfire in the sticks burning random stuff everyone throwing things in the fire. The next day my brother, friends and I filled 2 suitcases with beer and liquor and took off in my first car, a pontiac grand am to south carolina. We were teenagers so we had to bring alcohol. We stayed in a condo off the beach, partied, swam in the ocean and visited the house of blues at night to dance. I met a girl on the dance floor I spent some time with there that I never seen again. I was dating Maddie and we fell out, she called when I was in SC and told me she loved me. Im still friends with Megan. I love this band. My life at 15-16 felt like one big summer music video for the Fray lol they will always be special to me.
I can relate ,,totally ,, mine being back in the mid 80's. The best times of my life !!! Now 55 yrs old and still get those emotional memerios ,,,flashbacks ,,thats what makes you enjoy life more when your older ,,
This song came out when I was in love with my high school sweetheart, she's a stranger now and found out she's getting married, had to come back and listen to this gem. It takes me back to the best time of my life.
This came out when I was falling in love with a girl, too. We are now married with two kids. So it reminds me of happy times too. I wish it worked out for you. Hope you have found happiness elsewhere.
I wonder if someone will see this comment in 10 years (2034) and think about how long ago 2024 was. Whoever sees this I hope your last ten years were great.
I feel a sense of connection with the people in the comment section, everyone feels like my peers. This song connects us all and takes us to a time well never get back.
I love to find these songs I heard in my childhood. I remember only the chorus but I'm able to find them most of the times. It's a wonderful feeling to hear them again, it's like revisiting my childhood, then I download them to never loose them again.
Jhoan Hurtado Thank you human, I'm glad you liked, my B Movie writing. But & there can be no Butts, about what I am going to write. Since you L,your fao, how will you use the Toilet, then?(;)
I lost my hearing around 2008 but I loved the fray along with all the piano rock bands I listened to back then. Sometimes I just watch old videos and if I immerse myself I can still hear it in my head. Captions definitely help. Thanks Isaac.
SalmonTheHero If you guys are younger than 20, I'll be the one smacking you across the face with a chair lol j/k. I feel so old listening to this, but I love it.
I'm seeing a lot of recent comments, it's so nice that people are coming back to this song all these years later / discovering it now. Music hits different when you listen to it years and years after its release! This aged like fine wine
Something just made me think about this song today.. I could hear it but it took me a minute to remember the name.. and How to save a Life as well. I do miss these songs and these times too. We could probably come up with a great play list of epic songs 🎵
Can anyone answer other than money, what happened to music like this? Like seriously how did music get so shit nowadays? I'm sorry, I feel the nostalgia right now
You can still find a bunch of artists like this. In my twisted taste of music, I love pop, and Reggae, and Jazz, and this, and rock, and, well, everything. So yeah.
Nothing happened. The Fray is a modern band that still makes music. They will release another album and it's going to be played on the radio along with Lady Gaga and other filth. Good music has always existed and will continue existing. It's your twisted view of the industry that makes you think there has been some change in music. Just look at what was played in 2005. Top 100 of 2005 is full of artists that are still making charts this year.
Kami Noyce oh yes!! Them & Goo Goo Dolls and the song “Name”... wow!!! I will tell you that the Frey has a song on the cable car album called “I’ll look after you”, it’s a hidden gem. If you ask me.
I always notice listening back to this that the Piano melody sounds like "Never getting Older" by the Chainsmokers. Well that song sounds like the Fray as it came out much later. Still love this song after all the years ❤
Dora Muha The piano riff that's used right after the chorus in this song is effectively identical to the drop in Closer, to the point where Closer had to credit The Fray for it.
the reason it doesnt sound as good in closer is mainly because its a different chord progression i believe.... as well as the synth choice on closer is sorta grating...... compared to this song which just simply uses a piano....
back in like 05 or 06 or somewhere around there i always seen it on VH1 top 20 count down, such a great song and brings back nostalgia im 22 going on 23 come june 13th im glad anyways glad u found this jam
I have a feeling that we didn't give this song the credit it deserved when it was released... Was a success, but i think that deserved even more

This song is profound and people who laugh at it (like the other comment) I hope they never know how hard life can be. Because life is HARD.

Im so sorry for your loss
Im so sorry , May Myles Rest In Peace .
🥀🕊
I’m really sorry man. That’s an unimaginable pain I wouldn’t ever wish on even my worst enemies. Take time to heal and know that he’s looking down at you from above ❤️
TRIGGER WARNING
This hits EXTREMELY hard; I've been suicidal off-and-on for YEARS, with each subsequent attempt bringing me closer to actually dying than the previous one.
Much love to you and your brother. I'm so sorry. There is no easy answer to this.
Now I wanna cry. :(
The craziest about this song is that it lost the Grammy award for best pop vocal performance to "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas #musichistory
Wow 😞
the fray is much better, plus they are great with or without nominations
Mainstream popularity over quality. That's how it's always been and that's how it always will be in the music industry.
whatever music industry says. it will always be the winner for us.
I don't think that's right. this was such a great song. you can't judge a song by popularity.
We don’t search for old songs..
we search for old memories.
Decades later people will realize the depth of this line…..
Its funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different
❤😭no words. This comment is so true.
Fact
This. such a short statement
that immediately hits home 🤘🏽
The older I get , the better the entire How to Save a Life really gets. The Fray really is under appreciated
How to Save a life, you found me, happiness
those three were on repeat when I first tried and contemplated with the idea of suicide.
I am not scared of pain, I been through the WORST kind of pain someone can imagine.
My only thought was the PAIN other people get, the blow back if I die.
Most people are worried about the pain they might feel during it,
i feel about all the people I might let down.
I agree this is my favorite band and I am in 2020
The fray helped me through some pretty dark times too.
I actually have to broken light bulb from the album cover tattooed on my arm bc of how much they mean to me, and that they’ve been my favorite band so long.
It's one of the very few albums that I can listen all the way through without skipping.

Turning 28 soon mine too!
^^^^^YES^^^^^^
YES! I highly respect them.
Wow I never realized. They were at the right place at the right time though you have to admit.
I've been thinking...we should have a name for fans of the Fray like 'frayble cars' 'frayers' 'fraybies' or something
Thank you for being someone who understands my love for them!!
Back when the world felt bigger and yours was smaller and cozy
Wow, love that analogy.
It’s so true. I don’t know if it was my age or the lack of 24/7 hyper-media, but life used to feel less overwhelming.
Wow. Beautifully said.
@@catachandevilfangYeah I felt that, time felt like a construct when this was popular.
@@Inaworldoflove That’s not an analogy but alright.
The Fray's songs always feel like stories. Even without the music video. They really are masters of the art of literary tension, conflict and climax.
Kindly explain this story... It's his young self dissappointed on his older self
@@abdulogohi2772 I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. Could you phrase that differently or explain the question further?
I need a cigarette after that climax. Quite the wordsmith yourself.
Agree🤪
the fray should sue the crap out of chainsmokers, its getting ridiculous, how modern 'good' songs are totally ripping off artists that rarely receive recognition. they should set the precedent.
They already gave them writing credits.
joka619 they had to give the fray writing credits and pay them royalties.
dude many other famous artists have sampled music, especially if they're famous
actually this song was a radio hit plus this song was featured on shows like shrubs. the fray isnt a big mainstream band but they well known look up how to save a life it has over 100 million views
Back when the Fray's first two singles were released, I thought they might end up being the best pop rock band ever. It's a shame they couldn't keep it up, but I can still yell along to Over My Head and How To Save A Life as if the world was ending around me.
Yes , Me As Well. For Some Reason , I Act Like I'm In The Video 😂😂😂
+Izzy S "It's a shame that this generation isn't into good music like there was in 2005."
You are little fucking dumb.
I really want to go to their concert when they come to boston. this song means so much to me. my best friend passed away a year and a half ago and this was our song. I will bring her picture with me and sing the lyrics as loud as I can so she can hear me from heaven. I love you Brittany. RIP 😥😥

Whos still rocking this banger in 2024?! :)
The songs about the lead singer and his brother who used to be in The Fray and basically the falling out the two had when he left or got cut from the band. "I wish you were a stranger I could disengage" - makes sense about the situation between the brothers. You wanna let go of them but its hard when its your family.
so his brother is a she?
Correct! "Cable Car" was his nickname, as well. I believe his real name is Caleb.
+itis LUCIAN "shes on your mind" the "your" is refering to his brother the "she" is just some chic. to me it sounds like they wete fighting over a girl but idk

I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a cue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
Let's rearrange
I wish you were a stranger I could disengage
Just say that we agree and then never change
Soften a bit until we all just get along
But that's disregard
Find another friend and you discard
As you lose the argument in a cable car
Hanging above as the canyon comes between
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head

She's on your ...
And suddenly I become a part of your past
I'm becoming the part that don't last
I'm losing you and it's effortless
Without a sound we lose sight of the ground
In the throw around
Never thought that you wanted to bring it down
I won't let it go down till we torch it ourselves
And everyone knows I'm in

THE FRAY...if you guys are reading this..... I miss y’all....and your music will forever live on!!
They have a new album about to come out and are doing a tour! A must see!

This song is not even that old.
does anyone else wonder what ever happened to this real type of music
Agenda to divide & Conquer has taken over. Can’t u see it? No more Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls, or the Frey. Nothing!
@@Wild1KY mannnn I miss matchbox 20
Kami Noyce oh yes!! Them & Goo Goo Dolls and the song “Name”... wow!!! I will tell you that the Frey has a song on the cable car album called “I’ll look after you”, it’s a hidden gem. If you ask me.
@@Wild1KY yes! I love that song!!
It evolved, like everything else in the universe.
I always notice listening back to this that the Piano melody sounds like "Never getting Older" by the Chainsmokers. Well that song sounds like the Fray as it came out much later. Still love this song after all the years ❤
ah yes "Never getting older"
The Fray helped me through so many of my dark days accompanied by darker thoughts. I always come back to this beautiful classic.

Euzinha 2018 😎✌🏻
The riff sounds a lot better on this song than it does in Closer, not sure why they decided to sample a song if they weren't going to improve on it.
Mims Is My Savior the riff?
Dora Muha The piano riff that's used right after the chorus in this song is effectively identical to the drop in Closer, to the point where Closer had to credit The Fray for it.
Mims Is My Savior Its the EXACT same sound!!! :O
the reason it doesnt sound as good in closer is mainly because its a different chord progression i believe.... as well as the synth choice on closer is sorta grating...... compared to this song which just simply uses a piano....

Idc what anyone says, the early to mid 2000s (2005-2015) was the best.
2000 people have no clue what good music is... These guys are heavily underrated. Love their music!
How is The Fray underrated? They literally have millions and millions of views across their videos.
