It’s finally happening… This video could not get any better: -AH-64- , Wags intro - check, Garand thumb joke - check. I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life…
Yeah. no one gets fired in the military. Youre relieved for cause. I want to know what caused him to be relieved of his duties and eventually his departure from the military
I have been working these birds for the last 18 years. The attention to detail is spot on. From the menus, engine pages, controls, and lay out of the crew stations, this is outstanding! Can’t wait to see more
As a current 15Y (Apache Armament / Avionics Technician), this is sick to see. I love the D model, even tho the E is much easier to work on lol. Keep rocking it man. If only you knew how often they break / require some magic to get flying. Keep up the good vids.
VR is such a huge help in all DCS aircraft. It's not quite there yet for video editing purposes, but for flying yourself without worrying about sharing your screen, wow!
I just got it like 2 days ago and without watching any tutorials on the weapons accidentally figured out how to use the gun and the hydra's... Just because I love the gun's head tracking and wanted to use it in DCS. After I learned how to use those I'm now learning more about how to actually control it.. so I kinda went backwards. You're supposed to learn to use it as a vehicle before a weapon, but I chose as a weapon before a vehicle. LOL
I have flown the A-10CII for 500 hours now in DCS. So I figured its time for a new aircraft, and man did I underestimate the difficulty of flying the AH-64. First hour of the A-10 I was flying around and landing no problem. 4 hours into flying a heli I am terrible still.
I live in downtown Denver, CO. Saw an Apache flying low and slow around the skyscrapers yesterday, it was freaking awesome. Always happy to see your uploads, it brightens up my day Drew! Keep up the good work broski!
It's fine. I'd just recommend changing your spring to the weakest you can if your HOTAS has changeable springs. Other than that if you're used to flying fix wing with your hotas. The transition will be easy enough
I like to invert my throttle axis (for collective) so it looks more like down to up Helicopters are hard, but a lot of fun ! The hardest part is understanding what the aircraft is doing with all of the stabilisation systems so you don't try to overcorrect all the time
@@jonapple2325 Because with helis you will almost never have the cyclic in dead centre position. Example would be the huey. If you want to take of in a hover you will have to slightly pull back and to left on the cyclic. otherwise the heli will just tip and roll over the nose. As well as soon as you pick up speed and transfer into transition lift the heli will do the complete opposite and pull pitch up so you will have to counter that by slightly pushing forward on the cyclic. Long story short unless you constantly trim the heli or have a heli with autopilot you will almost never have the stick centred and it can become a hassle to battle the stiff springs. Hope this gives you some insight.
@@NeePAPA Thats part of the reason i like to fly the Mi-8 a lot. You can "zero" the stick or trim the aircraft with the push of a button, go get a coffee or take a shit and when you come back the thing is still flying even if you dont use the autopilot :)
I havent played a flight sim since IL-2 was originally released...bought my first joystick to play that game. Havent played a flight sim since. The more i watch you play DCS though, the more i am tempted to spend on some peripherals and give dcs a try. Keep the vids coming, appreciate them all 👍
hey drew, been a fan for a while, started watching in 2016 when you had done quite a bit of Arma 3 milsim with Jamie and Via. I see your hard work and how much you have grown. dude the amount of work you put into your videos of pre production and planning, learning and setting up controls. filming and organizing between other people to post production and editing hours and hours if content into 10 minute clips like this for us to enjoy. much respect and will continue to be a fan. keep up the good work.
Nice one 🙂 DCS is so rewarding with helicopters, been flying the Ka50 and Gazelle a lot as well as the Hind and this is just another step up. Difficult to master but very rewarding with rotor birds in DCS. And the future with the Apache looks truly bright with the FCR and other systems, not to mention the defensive capabilities with IR-missile warning and auto release of flares. This sets it apart from the Ka50 and other helicopters and makes it much more survivable.
the A-10 is my goto plane to have a good time in DCS, sure its a bit more complex, but overall nice and slow gameplay, nice to calm down after a day at work.
The A10C was the first module I bought and it's still my favorite. Feels really comfortable to jump into and fly/attack with. That said, after more than 2 years of flying it off and on, I am still learning more things about it every time I fly. It took a LOT of hours to get comfortable, but every step was rewarding.
Can we just get a nod to the genius who put the little metal dangly bits in and made them dangle properly. Situational awareness, instrumentation, million dollar night vision. Check. Ability to see this has basics of newtonian physics covered. Priceless.
the SAS in it is adjustable and at its default setting its definitely easier than the huey when it comes to rudder but when you disable the SAS its an absolute NIGHTMARE to fly for obvious reasons lol
Hey Drew...been following you since i got into DCS in the fall of 2022. Just picked up the AH64. A lot of learning to do...been flying WWII warbirds and modern jets...
I like to help newbies get their start flying this awesome machine. I tell them it's really simple, just like driving a car. See those two pedals down there? That's the gas and brake. Just like in a car!
YOUR INTRO WAS EPIC FOR THE APACHE! This is one of my favorite choppers, I would love seeing you flying a HIND. What if u made a vid with Heli missions, Like having a Transpo chopper and having to protect that chopper?
Been playing DCS for 2 weeks. My first model that I learn to fly is the KA-50. Your video "dangerous apache gunner simulator" was so cool that I had to fly a heli myself. It's so damn hard to learn and not a good idea to start with a heli. Especially without a joystick, which I just got yesterday (whooop whooop). But the first kill felt so good.
Oh my God, this looks like so much fun. I’m only a month into DCS currently learning the FA18 and having a blast, F16 is already purchased but will have to wait in the hangar for a while learning the FA18. But now when this is released I just want to get into it asap.. That’s the dilemma of DCS; being able to have more fun than you have time for
2:50 lol the Black Shark was my first Heli in DCS that I quit for being too hard. I fly the AH64D in Arma though and love it. I already pre-ordered the AH-64D for DCS weeks ago! :D
Crazy coincidence that my computer teacher today was talking about this heli and it's "look and fire" function it had, dunno why but the world is giving me some weird coincidences this day
I bought this module on a christmas sale along with the f-15c and a-10a (the FC3 models). I intended to fly around in the f-15 for a while before I would get into the apache, but my main goal in DCS is heli's so I booted it up, did my best to understand what everything did (starting up wise) and tried my best to fly around for a bit. I am terrible atm and have so much to learn, but ive had a lot of fun with it, so despite me being new to DCS, I think im gonna try stick with the apache and see how things turn out. I also need to learn the gunners seat so I can go fly with others
@OperatorDrewski If you fire up Arma3 with the AH-64 Project Mod , you also see the PODs move on the side. That Mod is so detailed and was Started with Arma2!
“This isn’t your first module vehicle, you may want to fly and get used to your HOTAS” Me who just set up my new HOSAS + pedal system and ready to fly like a bat outa hell: 😈
I've watched a few dozen real-world Apache attacks from the Iraq war in the early 2000s, and they are amazing. Hellfire and gun runs were my favorite, although watching someone die is not fun to see, the Araqi fighters chose their path, and were dealt with accordingly. So watching Drewski in a VR setting flying an Apache was great, in fact, all his flying videos are awesome!!!
Good flyin with ya, Drew. Hopefully we can do it again.
I'd like to see the apache take on a fighter aircraft in an environment that the helicopter could use for cover
I feel rude asking, but you got fired Casmo? Or is that just a joke sort of?
Sorry if this is a sore point, but how come you got fired as an Apache pilot?
@@D00kerT i think it's a joke lol
