"George," that's funny. 43 years ago, I flew TH-55 as our primary trainer. The TH-55 had a high rotor rpm governor that used oil pressure to kick the throttle down. It was called George. We'd laugh at our friends soloing. On their finals George would kick in and the nose of the aircraft would kick left so, everyone knew you had high rotor rpm.
Pop-up attack with range, raking fire on the 30, short controlled bursts, not staying over the target area too long, not orbiting too long, and keeping the armor above and forward of the enemies view out in-front of the engines so that the engines don't take hits. Those is the Apache's strengths. She's a gunship and meant to take a whacking, but she's a fragile lady at the same time too.
Love the AH-64D. I took my kids to a display/open day at Middle Wallop, north east of Salisbury. Two of them were able to sit inside the cockpit, I asked if I could, the answer was a polite no.
I really like your helicopter missions. You know, it's easy to see whyIraqi soldiers in Desert Storm would surrender - by the dozens - to a single AH-64...
It's the code for "lost a nuclear weapon". For obvious reasons when someone announces Broken Arrow everyone, from every branch, within a 2000km radius scrambles to respond. Even the janitors start mopping faster just to do SOMETHING. So the joke in this episode was "since everyone from every branch has already showed up to help I wonder if they lost a nuclear weapon".
A. You lost Uncle Sam's biggest whacking stick and now its not only your problem but also everyone's problem . . . . And/Or B. You're up against the wall and need every arty, mortar, tactical aircraft, gunship, and helo with a brrrrt on it to drop what they were gonna do and help bail you out of the southern boil you just found yourself in.
Broken Arrow was a call for all available combat aircraft to attack enemy positions, even those close to the position of US troops. The reason for calling in that order, is because a US position is being overrun and can no longer be defended. (The nuclear this is also apparently correct but this is what I meant)
I am really enjoying the Afghanistan map. It still needs some polishing and the rest of the map populated, but the scenarios I have been able to run with the Kiowa, Apache, Chinook and all the other jets of the period are a lot of fun. I see a lot of negative comments about the appearance up close, but it's still early access. The Syrian map began life the same way and now it's just almost perfect. Same with the Sinai and Persian Gulf. These maps take years to finish and become polished products. I like the Kola map too, but it's so damn large of a file that I don't have the HD space for it.
Man they clanked the shit outta that poor girl. Not to mention you putting her through her paces one just one engine and still giving the OPFOR hell. At least you made it back in mostly one piece with a few extra ounces of lead on board.
You could've been a little more liberal with your use of the Hellfires. Especially against that large group of technicials. You were flying way too close and too low.
Not that close to the wire. You know people have to go get those pieces/parts off the wire. Also, your crew chief is going to throw you a blanket party if you keep up with those 30 round bursts. Just say in your head " kill Haji kill kill kill " then "Haji you dead ?" And repeat.

Just curious, do you have anymore funny moments recorded.

When you shoot the 30mm at your target try making a figure 8. This will show good results.
No, it is more important to hit the target than to make figure 8s with the sight.

Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. A great landing is when you can use the aircraft again.
At least the engine swap should go faster this time since they have very recent experience in doing exactly that.

You got so target fixated I was expecting you to jump out and start hitting the BMP with a stick. Back away for just a moment and regroup man. lol
The only thing a pilot fears more than the enemy, is the crew chief they have to report the damage to.

These technical hunts give me the Command & Conquer: Generals vibes
Wouldn't rockets be better than guns for taking out groups of technicals like that? Could hyrdas take out BMPs as well?
Yes

Lots of hellfires you did not use !
You should do another how to get into DCS video
Great video GS, George ain't no Jester, but I suppose that if he ejects in a chopper he would only be so much fertilizer spread over a wide area...
Love the vids GS keep up the great work!
The main thing is the crew comes back unhurt. Getting the hardware back is a bonus.
Hey man- funny story. You owe us beer.

Yep, your crew chief is going to love you on RTB. I blame Goerge.
Apache helicopters eat tanks, technicals and AFVs for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
A good landing is one you can walk away from AND the aircraft is still usable.

Judging from the round impacts on George's windscreen, I think you might have more to worry from him than the crew chief.
Clearly you need a bayonet for that 30mm
