I've had this generator for 5 years and only started it once a year to check it. My power's been out for 48 hours now and I'm finally using it for what it's meant for. I need to add that you have to check the oil every few hours and if you have a new one you have to condition it with two oil changes. First by running it 30 mins then changing oil then after 5 hours and changing oil again. After that it's good for 50-200 hours. Just like new brake pads they need to be broken in.
We had a massive power failure across the city. Every gas station for miles around could not power the pumps. Almost every corner store has a propane exchange program, very handy. This alone made me buy a dual fuel.
@@CycleFab propane is also easier on carburetor, usually cheaper. Get one of those pigs (large tanks installed on your property) and you're set forever
I changed from a gas generator to duel fuel because my gas system was annoying to maintain. Gasoline needs fuel saver and when not in use for a prolonged period of time it needs to be drained. Even then, more often than not it was difficult to start after sitting in my garage for an entire season. I bought this Champion and with propane it starts immediately. If you have the $$$ you can buy two tanks and swap out the empty one to get a refill when needed while the other one is still working. One small note about the video, it requires about 12oz of fresh oil per change (to the cap thread mark)
The reason to use highest test fuel is because those fuels were ethanol free at one point but that's not the case now. The hightest fuel is actually harder to ignition because it's for high compression engines.
Round 2, 361,380 without power here in Texas….probably more to come…there was over 400,000 without power at on e time…..Got me a 10,000 watt Dual Fuel Champion generator on standby as well as 6,000 watt hours of battery backup just in case…
Is it true you should break a new duel fuel with gas first for like 20-30 hrs before using the propane just for proper seating of rings and valves !? Just trying to learn the rite way. Thanks
That is not true. My generator is still starting and running just fine with either gas or propane. And yes, I do use propane sometimes. It's less messy, no chance of spillage. You'll really like having a generator when the time comes you actually need one.
No, this is the one that says 68 decibels. Judging how something sounds in real life to the audio track of a RUclips video can be misleading. I did not measure the noise level of my generator so I don't know what db level it acctually runs at. But, it's not loud to the point we really even notice it running, hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting!
A 20 lb tank will have about 3.5 gallons if you get from an exchange place. If you get a tank filled, they can push 4 to 4.5 gallons into it. I fill mine at TSC as its a better value. My 7000 watt generator will take about .75 - 1 gallon per hour so a tank might make it about 4 hours. Smaller generators probably last longer.
That's a different generator, Dual Fuel generator Runs on Gasoline or Propane Fuel Tri Fuel Generator Runs on Gasoline, Propane Fuel or Natural Gas. It's always one or the other. They do sell a generator conversion kits to run on Natural Gas or just buy a generator that has all three.... Hope that answer your questions
Higher octane would have no benefit, it's not cleaner. it doesn't burn better, all it is is higher knock resistance. No more, no less. Most small engines like these run at very low compression so the higher octane is unnecessary. In fact, lower octane fuel burns quicker and thus is why higher octane fuels are for high compression engines to prevent knocking. Cheers!
I just recently found out that if you have the availability of non-ethanol gas, even though it's somewhat lower in octane, it is a far cry better than the higher octane 10% ethanol gas. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Watching this video within 24hrs from getting slammed by Hurricane Milton here in FL. This video was a life saver. Wish us luck!!!!
I hope you're alright. 🙏
I got the same one when I moved back to Florida 4 years ago

Good point about propane convertibility! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have never ran gasoline through mine and hope i never will. Propane doesn’t go bad. Ever.
Never thought of it like that.

Same. No worries of rust in the gas tank either. Mine has never seen gas. Always propane
I agree with you on propane plus the oil stays cleaner and no carb problems period
@@philliphall5198 propane is very good but slightly more expensive than the non-ethanol I currently run…….
Great video. Real down to earth explanations. Granbury,TX
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching and commenting.

Thanks for the info!
Very good information, thanks!

I have this exact generator. It has been great, but it is LOUD
Yeah, mine too. But for the price and that we rarely have to use them is acceptable to me. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Really the less back pressure the better fuel mileage and easier on engine
When I’m using it, then the noise is my least concern for sure

Hope you don't need it.
It’s nearly a must have now because you just can’t depend on anybody but yourself
Buy a generator folks
I got one and I ❤️ it

Any idea how this thing works at 6500 foot altitude?
Is this the generator that says its 74 decibels on the box? Cause this one sounds louder?

Larry do you offer motorcycle gas tank restoration? Thanks

I have a question do I still need to put gas in it if I’m only using propane?
how many hours run time will I get on a single propane tank?

Why use high octane fuel? The higher the octane the harder to start, high octane is to prevent knock and pre ignition
Several small engine technicians have told me that using high octane gas is better so that's why I run it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Where do you put the oil
Do you rrun this generator with Natural Gas?
No, I don't. You would need to contact the manufacturer about that. Thanks for watching and commenting!

does it work with butano ?
This is not the inverter one?
no.
Champion generator is Way better at Starting up..👍👍 What good is a Generator if very Complicated to Start 👎👎
Yeah! This thing is super easy to start.

To mich noise
The background noise in the video, or the generator?
Yes it’s loud but beats losing food and being cold 🥶
And I’ve been told to use the fuel that is being circulated the most cause it cleaner not necessarily being the highest octane
