    I bought one like this for a Black Friday deal to replace a decade old Champion. The old one had the gas tank rust inside. I emailed the company. They sent me a new tank even though out of warranty. They were very very nice. One of the reasons I bought their brand again. I'm sure they can help you fix the issues with yours. Thanks for the video!

    It's always recommended to warm it up before applying a load, especially in colder temps. The leveling is no big deal in the dirt and will level out the motor oil so the low oil sensor doesn't shut it down. Something looks disconnected on that choke, I wish I could look at it for you. The switch also needs to be looked at and or replaced. Take things one day at a time and don't sweat the small stuff, that's what living off grid is about. Hang in there and peace be with you and your family. It sure beats working in the machine shop inspecting parts all day. This guy is the master of generators and I have learned a lot from him. ruclips.net/video/yGhybUStTME/видео.html In part 2 of this video you will see the problem with your choke lever, easy fix buddy. Tighten that screw.

    Thanks for your uploads, I have a same generator and my controller is stuck on propane mode and won’t turn back to off position( I’m unable to use gas mode now. Anyway to rest or fix so that I can use both fuel system? Any input would be greatly appreciated

      That sucks! I think the engine is pretty good but everything else around it is cheap junk. My only suggestion is to try calling Champion and see if they’ll send you a new valve for free. Not sure how hard it is to replace.

    How is it doing at high altitude? Looks like you are pretty high, judging by the landscape. I need one that will run about 6500 foot. I have property north of Williams I'm moving onto in a couple weeks.

    Is there a way you can contact me on this generator? I got a new one tied starting it up and gas is leaking out carburetor. Runs for a few minutes and stops.

    I really loved how you shouted out your ole’ companion Chak and your pups, and goats! I’m impressed with your living quarters. I live in Ohio and we got hit pretty bad with storms, that knocked trees, and power lines. This generator is saving us at the moment from our food spoiling. Only issue i have with it, is that’s is noisy. Great review!

    Have a Wen dual fuel- it does not have these issues- IT HAS no CO monitor, IT starts instantly, is under load in a few moments, stabilizes output in about 5 minutes or less, NEVER SHUTS DOWN, runs all my essential circuits, I have run it during the freeze in Texas for 70 continuous hours. It is plenty powerful, frequency/voltage never varies. BEWARE OF THE CO CIRCUITS OR IF IT HAS A some sort of COMPUTER LOAD SHUTDOWN CIRCUIT. Mine is simple but robust. COMPLICATED IS TROUBLE- SIMPLE IS BETTER. AVOID ANYTHING THAT IS NOT PURPOSE MADE FOR BEING A GENERATOR. I HAD A TROY BILT WITH A BRIGGS ENGINE. It would leave you stranded when you needed it.

    We have a Firman generator which had the same symptoms and it was the selector switch, wasn’t making good contact when set to stop, kept running. Take a look at it

    Letting it run for a few minutes, not under load, when you plan on turning it off is to cool down the generator windings. Has nothing to do with the engine. That rotating knob is just a fuel switch along with engine spark cut-off. Something probably has come loose. Call Champion....they have fairly good customer service.

    The reason the generator needs to be level is the Oil Level Sensor on the side of the block my detect no oil with will shut down the generator.

    people saying thats a large generator f0r a well pump. yes bt even with a 3/4 hp pump the running watts are 1500 , the starting watts may be as high 7000

  • @EluderRacing
    @EluderRacing Год назад +1

    random shutting off after 10 minutes has nothing to do with not warming up the unit. its a low oil shut off issue or the CO sensor randomly failing. oil level is key and if its not 100% level it will shut off. also the CO sensors are poorly made and fail often we replace them under warranty all the time.

      What would I be able to do in an emergency to force it to run?

    • @EluderRacing
      @EluderRacing Год назад

      @@flankman9385 both the CO sensor or low oil shut off can easily be bypassed in the event of an emergency. Many great videos on RUclips. Be warned when the low oil is bypassed the motor will literally run with no oil so severe damage can occur so always check your oil before starting if it has been bypassed.

    hmmmm.... too many choices for me to mess with Champion if they have things as basic and simple as the on/off switch and choke break within a few months. I would have returned it.

    Should have bought a Westinghouse. I’ve only seen one video in the last five years that i started watching these videos of somebody complaining about a Westinghouse. That being said, Westinghouse has very poor customer service and they stock very few parts and are unable to tell you when they will be available. However, the three units that I purchased 5 yrs ago have been tried and true!

    These are really pretty darn good equipment but stick with propane and you’ll have no problems but service it and keeping it out of weather

    • @JerryPoe58
      @JerryPoe58  Год назад

      Yes. The engine is not the problem. It runs great. Everything thing else is cheap and unreliable.

  • @ridemfast7625

    Mine does the same thing. Their are two switches. One for the off position ( round knob pointing up, off position, this is the broken switch that does not work) and another switch when knob is pointing at the propane run symbol. When you take it a part you can see what a piece of crap design it is. Looks great from the users end but when you see how those little switches are triggered on/off it is literally a weak design.

    if people dont like made in china products then complain later boggles my mind. you get what you pay for. or find one that is made in russia. made in china are typically known to not have the BEST quality, hence the price. be grateful you can afford something in your budget. sometimes they have problems, but most of the time, they work just fine.
