Definitely do not use muratic. Others already covered why. Evaporust (and also vinegar) works fine. It's all about patience. I use 50C which is about the max temp for Evaporust according to the manufacturer. I set the cleaner at 30 mins, give things a stir when the timer goes off, and go another 30 for a total of 1 hour with ultrasonic turned on. Then I shut the unit off, leave it covered and let it cool overnight with the parts in it. I've not yet encountered anything so rusty that an hour at 50C + overnight wasn't enough. By morning, even a few dozen brackets, bolts and washers from a 69 vette with over 50 years and 100% surface rust on them were 98+% rust-free. Bolts that had been seized by rust were able to spin freely. It's important to make sure you spray parts down with a degreaser and remove any grime before putting the parts in the Evap bath. Or do an ultrasonic degreaser bath first, followed by a separate Evaporust bath.You want the Evaporust to have direct contact with the rust.

Rebuilding a late 1980s craftsman lawn tractor atm. It will be for some off roading fun and yard work since it doesn't have a deck. I don't these tires but still getting them as I plan on getting a plow for it as well for winter.

There is also a difference between Evaporust & Hydrochloric acid and that is one removes material the acid & one does not. Also Evaporust can be used to remove rust from a fuel tank I wouldn't advise using HCL to do the same unless you like swiss cheese. The right tool for the right job.

Im rebuilding a tractor engine. Do you think a 6L would be big enough for most parts? Or do you think the 30L is a must? Just thinking the smaller one would heat up quickly and cover most the parts.

I usually soak rusty things overnight in 50/50 white vinegar and water. Or three hours in Evaporust. A half an hour gets you nothing.

Send these chains to the Mexican cartels , they probably have a good recipe for dissolving rust , they do disolved bodies in acid mix .

That whole video could have been done in 5 or 6 minutes rather than 15 minutes. Many good ideas have been lost in excessive verbiage. I couldn't watch to the end.

1-Muriatic acid is the sealant? 2-So is there any need to rinse off with water after I drain the muriatic acid? 3-how long do I have to wait after I drain muriatic acid?

What do you use for the final seal after you remove WD40? I sure hate to use that cream product for tanks. I have old bikes that someone "creamed" the tank and after enough years pass. . It come off. And such a pain to get it all out.

The reason to use highest test fuel is because those fuels were ethanol free at one point but that's not the case now. The hightest fuel is actually harder to ignition because it's for high compression engines.

Just anecdotally here, but I sealed the pinhole leaks in my 1981 Honda CM400C gas tank using Caswells (my first-ever attempt using a tank sealer, just patiently followed the instructions - although I did screw up my reserve fuel "tank" by not covering the opening/tube - that was a bear to fix afterwards) It is now about 7 years later with absolutely no issues in the tank - lining looks just the same as the day I put it in, tbh - and I'm extremely glad I did it. And I'm currently awaiting delivery for my next can of Caswells (in Dragon's Blood Red this time) to do my 2001 Ducati 748 tank now, which has no leaks but is very prone to rust and not in great shape. If my experience is similar the second time around, I expect it to be a slow & patient job with total confidence in years of professional-quality protection.

Wouldnt another way to test be to weigh the powder hopper pre coating, or full gun with powder, then powdercoat a certain sized part, weigh the gun again? And to make it even more complete weigh the part before and after powder got on. That way you know wich 1 is more efficient in making it stick, and wich 1 got more to stick. Both are pretty good and objective measures of comparing

It takes about 1-2 hours of soaking in acid to remove rust.

Hi. I have some muriatic acid. I had some minor rust on a vespa gas tank, and sadly, follow the internet advice and used vinegar. It all seemed great, until I rinsed it off. Everything inside now had flash rust in less than 5 minutes. You talk about this, and it seems you use the muriatic acid and don’t get flash rust. Do I have to dilute the MA? I also have the problem that the oil tank and gas filter are set, and I don’t have the option, or tools to remove that. So, I’m also worried if the MA can damage the gaskets or the filter. I now this is an old video, but, I have my fingers crossed and hope that you see this comment.

i use evapo rust industrially. I have have it works great , but it is time and temperature dependent. works well in the 100 to 120 F range ( lower not so well, higher Im not sure.). I'm in no hurry so I leave it over night and great. If you don't contaminate it with dirt oil and water it will last a long time. it is not consumed in the reactions involve in removing. I wont go into those details. Acids are consumed. I find it safe, no burning of skin fumes etc. As pointed out acids can cause hydrogen embrittlement ( bad on structural or bad bearing parts). a drum with a band heater , or an immersion heater you can get on line or tractor supply and good to go.

The exhaust valve should be set at a greater gap than the intake valve a bit of miss information there.

Would that be ok to do before coating the inside of the tank i have a bikd it isint overly bad inside pretty clean but im worried about the e10 fuel .

Hey so this was amazing it worked perfectly I was already on to the vinegar but I had no idea about the muriatic acid thank you now my question is do I have to treat the inside of the tank or can I leave it the way it is I did coat the inside of it with two cycle oil for now
