Woodturning small bowls made of padouk end grain

- I made small bowls from end grain wood from leftover pieces of padauk from my work.
Even though the bowls were small, it was quite a time-consuming job due to the end-grain wood.
The end grain probably also caused one bowl to crack due to the force exerted by the chuck, but luckily I was able to repair this with ca glue.
I first treated the bowls with 2 layers of sealer and light sanding in between, and then finished with friction polish.
The bowls have diameters of 18, 13.5 and 11.5 centimeters and are 4, 3.5 and 6 centimeters high respectively.
Padauk is one of my favorite due to its beautiful red color. Well done Hans 👍
Thank you Jojo, yes it is a very nice type of wood, we recently made a project at work with a lot of padauk and I acquired a few leftover pieces
Nice set of triplets Hans ... nothing but beautiful wood. And well worth the tough cutting and flying bowl I'd say ! (nice catch!) Take care. -Mike
Thank you, Mike yes it is certainly very beautiful wood, I heard something cracking, so I knew something was going to happen, but I was still lucky that I could catch the wood
👍👍
Nice👍
Thank you, it is a unique type of wood that gives great results
Great stuff!
Thank you Leo, yes it is a nice type of wood to work with
An amazing finish Hans. I am still working on that
Thank you, Brett, at first I couldn't get a good result with friction polish or yorkshire grit, but now it works well for me
