  • Game of Thrones is a show that is dense with lore and backstory, even if it is only touched on every now and then. George R.R. Martin expands on it more in his books, and we’ve got the whole timeline spelled out for you, from the first actions of men recorded in Westeros to the events that directly set the pieces in place for the show.
    There could still be plenty of references to it in the final season, so it can’t hurt to catch up on the history of Westeros. Here’s the explanation of the entire Game of Thrones timeline.
    #GameOfThrones #GoT #HBO
    12,000 years Before Conquest: The First Men | 0:00
    8,000 years BC: The Long Night | 0:43
    6,000 years BC: The Andals invade | 1:44
    100 years BC: Old Valyria is destroyed | 2:29
    Year 0: The Conquest | 3:22
    282 After Conquest: Robert's Rebellion | 3:39
    284 AC: The past is prologue | 5:41

He knew she ran away with Rhaegar and they were in love, but had to be at winterfell as Ned and the other starks were off fighting in the rebellion (there must always be a stark at winterfell). the 2022 version would be: Arya arrived in the West not long after, became a huge Tik ToK Skincare influencer famous for her refreshing face masks - unfortunately one of the main ingredients was Clorox and after thousands of followers were left facially disfigured, she was sued and lost everything, went mad and eventually ended as a bag lady only to die alone on the streets in the city of Lost Angels. Jon Snow and The Wildlings became Oxy addicts , looking just like the walking dead - only really really out of it. The Last Dragon contracted COVID and tragically, during a particularly violent coughing fit - set everything around him alight - including himself and an entire community. The very community that had opened their hearts to him, who had accepted him for who and what he was, all those many years ago, when he first arrived on their doorsteps with nothing but a decomposing corpse and a tale of woe.

      I highly, highly recommend the book "The World of Ice and Fire", a lavishly illustrated coffee-table volume which contains incredibly detailed information about the universe of the Song of Ice and Fire books (which is a slightly different continuity than the TV show, but most of the major details of the show are also true in the books, they mostly just left out a lot of ancillary plotlines and characters). It's possibly my single favorite book in the world, and it will give you a huge amount of backstory on the setting, specifically including the *complete* family trees of the Starks, Lannisters, and Targaryens.

      come on I've watched all seasons AND read all the books but understanding the entire timeline including what happened before the story starts is effing hard and confusing. This is a great overwiew. I bet you didn't even watch this video before commenting.

    • @ladygrim412
      @ladygrim412 5 лет назад

      @@fiedelmina nah I watched the whole thing! It's not bad - just painfully obvious. It is only summing up the storyline relevance for season 8. For example, If season 6 were airing, it wouldn't make sense, or any other season for that matter. This video serves the bandwagon population that want to catch up in the shortest amount of time possible. People want to experience the glory without the investment and those morons are everywhere right now. This video was released for hits due to these overwhelming amount of people who want to jump on the GoT hype train all of a sudden. How is this not obvious to you? If you truly are an OG thrones fan like me you should feel the same way 😉

    I literally got none of that. To be honest I am still confused about what is happening in the series... but this video introduced even more characters that I cannot remember. I really wanted to learn how the whole thing in their world works. About the guy that changes his face and his whole mission in life, about the guys in the huge library and what they do exactly, about the really fancy city that Daenerys escaped at some point and who built it... (things of that nature). Some visual maps and timelines would have been very helpful.

    The Long Night (episode) was incredibly entertaining and I 100% appreciate the production value and everything that went into creating the episode. Top notch cinematography. What I ultimately disliked about the episode was the general story and character development. I thought a lot of it flat out didn't make any sense. The Dothraki were going to ride into battle without the flaming swords had Melisandre not shown up....and Jon/Dany were just going to sit there and watch them get slaughtered instead of planning on using the dragons for offense (instead of defense to wait for the NK to advance on the Three Eye Raven)? Maybe I was building myself up for disappointment due to my time investment and fan theory speculation. I feel let down that there was no greater/large plotline to the NK and the White Walkers. That Bran/3ER and the NK do not share a deeper connection outside of the NK trying to rid the humans from existence. I'm not saying that Bran/3ER needed to = the NK (as some theories suggest), but some sort of distant relationship or connection would have had felt like a way bigger payout. I feel like there were a lot of missed opportunities with linking in the Weirwoods, especially after all the stress on their imagery. Additionally the threat of the WW's wiping out humanity seems thin, especially when there is an entire other continent full of humans. Feels bad man.
    Don't get me wrong, I loved that Arya was the one to take down the NK. That was a great surprise. My only complaint with that is if dragon fire didn't harm the NK, there's no reason to believe that Valaryian steel would. If the stories are true, what makes Valyrian special is that it was imbued with magic and forged with dragonfire. If they went the distance to to make sure that Arya stabbed the NK in the exact location that the Children stabbed him, why not go 100% and have Arya use her dragonglass weapon instead?
