So basically Lyanna and Raeghar are the ones who started all this mess
Some confusion already happened with Jaime, the king slayer. Also Robert had that bastard blacksmith son. I mean.. some mess would occur anyway.
Rhaegar was already planning to start a rebellion to overthrow his father as soon as his father went overboard with his madness. He could've united the seven kingdoms under his rule but he fucked all his plans up when he fucked all of Lyanna Stark up.
Well, lt was Littlefinger indeed. He told the lie to Brandon Stark, who got mad and went to King's Landing to get his sister back
Littlefinger wanted Brandon dead because of the Duell he lost for Catelyn. Therefor he the laid the trap so the mad King would execute him.
The original game of thrones started because of Lyanna and Rhaegar but in the series it starts because of Bran Stark
7 seasons summarized in 16min. Really good explanation for everyone who forgot who's who with s8 coming up. And you skipped anything in Dorne, which we all thank you for.
Dorne and oberin were the best
In the books, yes. In the show, Oberyn was amazing, Dorne was a little underwhelming.
Show-Dorne never happened!
Oberyn martell is one of the best characters
Sand snakes are best in dorne
Good god, George Martins mind was just running rampant when he wrote this story. It's remarkable that he was able to think all this out and keep it organized in his mind long enough to write it all out.
better mind then the show producers. They couldnt't keep track of people so they cut out huge chunks of family trees. And massacred the character of some. Like Doran Martell? He is made out to be some weak minded invalid who Ellaria kills? He is a bloody master mind out to destroy those who killed his sister, and has three children not one. His daughter Arianne kidnaps Mrycella who is alive in the books, to try and put her on the throne. Ellaria is a whimpering widow with four young kids, Oberyn's older daughters (with other women) are bad asses but they follow Arianne not their mother.
@@melissaadrian8591'better than the producers' is a) an understatement and b) scarce praise. GRRM created this world like a genius, and D&D were absolutely lost without him.

Everyone would be topper
I mean... People write fantasy because real world history is boring as fuck.
@@DonVigaDeFierro it's not boring you see, because it's real and became more and more curious after 100 year war !!
@@DonVigaDeFierro actually game of thrones is inspired from the war of the roses which is a real event not a fantasy book or something. And history is pretty Interesting if you just focus in it. Like the reason GOT is interesting is because you focus in it not sleep while the show is going on dummy..
I never knew Robert had Targaryen blood..
Same
Yeah, when you think about it, Stannis has a better claim to the throne in a lot of ways then people give him credit.
Boybandhair yeah.. he should have been king after Robert died since his children aren’t really his & he is the oldest of the baratheon brothers.. but with Daenerys coming back to Westeros & knowing Jon Snow is Rhaegar’s son that changes everything
Boybandhair damn now I actually see whole of the Stannis war different! Didn’t think about that he also had Targaryen blood! He really has the better claim than the Lannister bustards!
@@Jonas-xl4wg I could be wrong on this but in the books, the succussion law was different tldr under the Targaryen rule it was like this..male heirs first and only females when their isn't any males left.
So with Stannis being Rhagar's cousin..that means Stannis does legally have a better claim to the throne then Dany.
You should've added Gendry in the Baratheon line, he may be a bastard but he's also the last Baratheon standing
I think that at the end of season 7, he wasn't considered as a legitimate Baratheon. But yeah it would be better to add him
Not really, if we count Robert's bastards there are probably several Baratheons alive, not knowing it, of course

@@liandry4951 I don't like the way the show named him Aegon. Rhaegar was married to Elia Martell before Lyanna Stark. With Elia he had a daughter named Rhaenys and a son named Aegon. High Septon Maynard's diary let us know that Rhaegar and Elia's marriage was annulled in the show. An annullment makes it so that the marriage never existed. It automatically made Rhaenys and Aegon bastards, whether their names were Sand or Waters we'll never know. But, naming Rhaegar's youngest son Aegon is just utterly stupid. That would have severely pissed off Dorne even more than they already were. Lord Commander Gerold Hightower, Ser Arthur Dayne, and Ser Oswell Whent would have known that. Lyanna in particular doesn't seem like the type of person who would do that. It's why I prefer thinking his name was actually Aemon but because Lyanna was dieing couldn't actually enunciate that clearly.

All this makes me feel so damn bad about S8 all over again. ALL of this intricate worldbuilding, to end in....Arya doing some cool stuff, basically, and nuclear obliteration. What was the point of everything that came before....
The point was that the right to rule by inheritance was a faulty system. There was no telling whether a ruler would produce an heir capable of ruling. Mad King Aerys was a prime example. The Plantagenets were a great real life example; some kings were great but some were rubbish.

The Riverlands were no Kingdom though ;) the 7th is the Kingdom of the Iron Islands ruled by House Greyjoy.
Once the Riverlands were an indipendent kingdom, but then they were conquered by the stormlands and later by the iron islands.
True but there were lots of Kingdoms. "The 7 Kingdoms" refers to the time when Aegon conquered Westeros. And those were the North, Vale, Reach, Westerlands, Iron Islands, Stormlands and Dorne. R
At the time Aegon the 1st came in the 7th Kingdom was actually the Kingdom of the Islands and Rivers, ruled by Harren Hoare, aka Harren the Black, who also built Harrenhall. When Aegon took out Harren and his sons the Kingdom was split in two, The Riverlands which were given to the Tullys and The Iron Islands which were passed to the Greyjoys
Yeah but they were originally the rulers of the Iron Islands and they conquered the Riverlands. I forgot though that it was actually called Kingdom of the Islands and Rivers.
No, riverlands were kingdom. The name of Seven Kingdoms come from the time when Aegon conquered it, but he never conquered Dorne. Only a few generations later one of targaryens allied with dorne.

Very well explained! Thanks you! Started watching for the 3th time and wish i saw it after the first time. Actually crazy that this is al fiction. How does one even come up with a complicated and big story like this masterpiece. Amazing
The Kingdoms you name are not the 7 kingdoms. The seven kingdoms are the ones that existed before Agons conquest, now there are 9 administraive regions (added riverlands for House Tully nad Crownlands for House Tagaryen, later Baratheon) The original Kings were:
Torrhen Stark, King in the North.
Ronnel Arryn, King of Mountain and Vale.
Harren Hoare, King of the Isles and the Rivers.
Loren I Lannister, King of the Rock.
Mern IX Gardener, King of the Reach.
Argilac Durrandon, the Storm King.
Meria Martell, Princess of Dorne
The Lands Harren Hoare were divided into the riverlands given to Tully and the Iron islands given to House Greyjoy. The Reach was inherited by the stwerads of the Gardeners, House Tyrell. Baratheon married the daughter of the last King of the Stormlands and got the Stormlands.
Would you consider doing the same for the book, which would be a bit more complex and quit interesting.
Thanks for the extra information!
for context, there were not 9 separate areas when Aegon became king.the riverlands and iron islands were one realm, and the crownlands were being fought over by the stormlands and the riverlands
Was Dorne part of Seven during Aegon's conquest? I swear it wasn't because the Seven kingdoms were the ones who knelt to the dragons. Dorne came muuuch after everyone else. That's why they still have honorary prince and princesses.
Dorne wasn't conquered by Aegon, but it was part of the original 7 kingdoms, which existed before Aegon conquered. It was just the only kingdom to resist and survive for much longer.

Since Stannis was technically next in line due to Joffrey's illegitimacy, then that makes Shireen next in line. Shireen would've been the best queen.
this is by far the best explanation and chart i've ever seen for GoT lol wonderful job
If GoT is a subject in School, I am very much sure that I'll be the topper in my class 😁
Which class r u
OMG that class would be awesome the discussions and debated people could have in that class about characters and plots would be awesome
The map shows it to be obviously the UK and Europe but a fantasy-alternate history. Brilliant summation!
13:42 you say that John Snow is revealed as Rhaegars son in season 1, did I miss something as I didn’t find out until season 7, I think it was the final episode.
He meant season 7
If you rewatch the series you'll be able to see how it's really predictable to see that john is rhaegars son
@@Arezra yeah at one point in season 4 when Brienne is trying to find Sansa she says something like "her cousin is at Castle black"
i want samwell tarly's family chart in this aswell😛😂
@@antianti328 Podrick says that Sansa brother is at castle black, not her cousin.
Who's watching this a day before the last episode?
I'm watching this 30min before the last episode lol
Im still pissed that most of the Sand are dead, it's like they never made any impact in the series at all, but they had the most awesome warrior in the family tree, especially Oberyn's daughters...
Everyone hates the writers for Dany's demise, to me; their biggest injustice was excluding Faegon. His presence connects with Dorne, Tyrion and Varys. So much was screwed up.
What ? The writers of the show just copied the source material that George RR Martin created, up until season 5 when they started writing their own plots and it all went noticably downhill, don’t compare benioff and weiss to tolkien they’re awful writers.
What ? I’m not going to read all that because I can’t be arsed. But if you’re genuinely trying to tell me that Benioff and Weiss are better writers than Tolkien, then you’re a moron. Yes, there were divergences from the books in the earlier series’, but nothing compared to the changes from season 5 onwards. And why on earth would I lie about reading the books, you weird bastard?
Watched GOT 2 times and still could figure out the map of every kingdom until I find this clip. Thanks!
