There were 1000s of noble family’s living in the Valyrian Freehold (such as the Velaryon’s and Celtigar’s) and only 40 of them possessed dragons. Nobody really knows exactly where the Targaryens fit in that 40 because it has never been specifically mentioned by the author. the only Information we have is that they were not among the most powerful of the dragon lords. They were still part of the ruling elite.
Correction, House Hightower are still around in the main series, they just don't play a major role in the story other than Mace Tyrell's wife, who is a Hightower.

You might want to read Fire and Blood. Some of the house descriptions were incorrect or incomplete. Like Orys Baratheon took the sigil and land from House Durrandon when he captured Storms End. House Tyrell didnt become prominent 'over a period of time', they got prominent almost overnight when Aegon I destroyed the line of House Gardener and made Tyrells the protector of the Reach, House Arryn would never have contended against dragons as Visenya and her dragon got Arryn's fealty in a single day when she showed the Arryns how vulnerable their sky fortress was to dragons. And these are just a few.
My knowledge is limited, but I recall hearing someone say that house Hightower is still around during the events of GoT but their standing had falling considerably. Enjoyed the video, learned a good amount from it.

"Stark family countinoues on strong" - I respectfully disagree. Ned stark is dead, his brother is dead, two of his sons are dead, one of his son turned out to be a (legimit) Targaryen. The only living Stark man is a cripple, physically unabel to father children. So even tho the bloodline may be continoued by Arya and Sansa but the name and so the house Strak will die out.
Here's some trivia about House Arryn that seems to always fly under fans' radar. There seems to be a trend throughout ASOIAF history where the main branch of House Arryn goes extinct, and the lordship (previously kingship) passes to the lord's first, second, or third cousin.
From what i understand Dorne basically abandoned their cities and hid in the desert mostly relying on guerilla tactics to pester any who tried to move in and rule. Personally i wouldnt call watching your cities burned to the ground as "unbroken". Couple that with the fact that they are worse than the Vale at "sitting back and waiting for a winner". Just my thoughts, no problem with Dorne. Just feel if i was one of the other houses listening to them bragging about being "independent" id think yeah you buried your head in the sand and watched your cities burned to the ground. Least we tried to fight.
Show baelish doesn't make any sense.. dude marries sansa away to the Boltons for no apparent reason. In the booke he knows sansa is the key to the north, and he has the vale already secured. He uses this knowledge to his advantage. If he gets to do what he wants in the next book he'll be securing the alliegence of the north through sansa while also having the vale in his pocket. Which it seems extremely likely that he'll be able to do. Because he ain't about to sell off sansa like a semi retarded Paralympics candidate. With all this secured he'll have an army rivaling that of the lannisters and their alliances.

Just a minor correction, unlike the Tyrells the original Lannisters were not Andals but rather first men, since the age of heroes and the time when Lan the clever swindles the rock from the Casterly’s, happens a few thousand years before the coming of the Andals. However unlike house Stark in the north and house Mudd (and other houses who claimed kingship) in the Riverlands, the Lannisters did not oppose the Andals, rather invited them to their lands, converted to their faith of the seven. So yes it is true that no trace of that First men blood line of house Lannister and other houses in the westerlands, and anywhere else in Westeros other than the north no longer remains. But all major ancient houses like Stark, Lannister, Gardner, Greyiron (Greyjoy ancestors), Dorranden (original Baratheon’s) were all descended from the first men. Major Houses like Arryn, Tully, Tyrell, and even house Martell were originally started by Andal lords.

The only living Stark man is a cripple, physically unabel to father children. So even tho the bloodline may be continoued by Arya and Sansa but the name and so the house Strak will die out.

Here's some trivia about House Arryn that seems to always fly under fans' radar. There seems to be a trend throughout ASOIAF history where the main branch of House Arryn goes extinct, and the lordship (previously kingship) passes to the lord's first, second, or third cousin.
From what i understand Dorne basically abandoned their cities and hid in the desert mostly relying on guerilla tactics to pester any who tried to move in and rule. Personally i wouldnt call watching your cities burned to the ground as "unbroken". Couple that with the fact that they are worse than the Vale at "sitting back and waiting for a winner". Just my thoughts, no problem with Dorne. Just feel if i was one of the other houses listening to them bragging about being "independent" id think yeah you buried your head in the sand and watched your cities burned to the ground. Least we tried to fight.
Show baelish doesn't make any sense.. dude marries sansa away to the Boltons for no apparent reason. In the booke he knows sansa is the key to the north, and he has the vale already secured. He uses this knowledge to his advantage. If he gets to do what he wants in the next book he'll be securing the alliegence of the north through sansa while also having the vale in his pocket. Which it seems extremely likely that he'll be able to do. Because he ain't about to sell off sansa like a semi retarded Paralympics candidate. With all this secured he'll have an army rivaling that of the lannisters and their alliances.
Unironically the Lannisters were the best and rightful rulers. Especially Cersei and Tywin.
The show did Edmure Tully dirty. In the books he was way more bad ass. The show turned him into a weak bumbling fool.
