50 years later and this song is still cool!
Word
I hear ya.
It was 1972. I was an 18-year-old guy dancing with my prom date to this banger of a song at my high school senior prom. Now I'm a 68-year-old senior citizen watching the young generation enjoying the songs of my youth. Awesome!
I was 26 when this came out. I still like at 76!!!!
@@webbtrekker534 It still rocks me to my core...Awesome!
This is just a cool ass rock song. All these decades later and I never get tired of this particular song!
I'm with you.. as good as the first time with this
Timeless
One of the GREATEST guitar intros EVER
3 musician singer song writers walk into a bar , really no joke they sit down and write a song about prohibition and the woman in the black dress 🍻😎🎤
One of the BADDEST songs ever written PERIOD. An EPIC Hollies tune and an EPIC bar room stomp.
There's an extremely beautiful song, the nest known version of which is by the Hollies, called "Bus Stop."
I'll raise the stakes a bit... Just listen to their Greatest Hits Album!!!
Got song. It would be a great reaction.
Good to see you guys rockin’ to the sound of the late-1960’s, early-1970’s. Great era.
Love this group. The Hollies are a British pop rock group formed in 1962 & known for their great harmonies. They had so many great songs such as "Bus Stop", "Stop Stop Stop", "On A Carousel", "Carrie Anne", "Just One Look", "Here I Go Again", "Look Through Any Window", "King Midas In Reverse", "Jennifer Eccles", "Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress" & "The Air That I Breathe". "Graham Nash" was originally in this group & left in 1968 to form "Crosby, Stills & Nash".
I didn't realize that some of those songs were theirs!
Manchester. Lol
Stay, Listen To Me, We're Through, Yes,I Will, Gasoline Alley Bres, He Ain't Heavy, I Can't Tell The Bottom From The Top,I'm Alive,Sorry Suzanne, Jennifer Ecclesetc:)

That’s a classic. Next Hollies to roll with has to be “The Air that I Breathe”
"Air That I Breathe" is definitely a must listen for anyone checking out the Hollies.👍🏻
The air I breathe is so good
It's all I need.
Bus stop, Carrie ann, Look through any window, and On a Carousel. 🎸
Yes!! The air that I breathe. Carrie Ann. Bus stop. All great songs
I find their music timeless … wouldn’t be out of place even today
The song is about a speakeasy back in the prohibition days. No drinkin' allowed, but here they were drinking bootleg booze on a Saturday night on the west side of town in a speakeasy.
He's working with the FBI trying to shut down the "nest of Bad Men" but loses focus when this long cool woman in a black dress starts singing. In the end, he's promising to forgive her since she's probably giving up evidence on this illegal booze hall that she works at. Sounds like a story from an old Humphrey Bogart / Lauren Bacall romance Mystery movie.
Always loved this song and you guys did an amazing job with it! Thanks !
Easly one of the most known openings garter rifts in history.
So many bands were formed after listening to The Hollies! Slash even said that he realized that he wanted to be a guitarist after hearing them for the first time
This song is one of THE BEST cruisin down the highway with the top down, music blasting and waiting for the “woooo” part!! I freaking love to air guitar to this classic!!! 🤟🏼 🎸❤️🔥
(BJ, you probably recognize this from the movie, “Remember the Titans”. )
The Hollies- The Air I Breathe is one of the greatest love songs ever!
A UK band that started in the early 60s that had over 30 hits in the UK ,over twenty in the US . Always noted for there fantastic harmonies . They kept making records on & off up to the early 2000s . Id recommend doing "The Air that i breath " which was a big hit in the US & UK or " Another night " They were inducted into the R&R hall of fame in 2010
This song always reminded me of a spy mystery type song. Just had that groove like something was going to happen. One of my faves!
Next, check out an 80's banger from Donnie Iris,
"Ah Leah !"
And for more throwback dance tunes, check out a Canadian group, "The Kings", doing their hit song
"This Beat Goes On / Switchin' To Glide". Yeah, it's so good they couldn't stop so they joined two songs together. This is how you get a party started!
If you do this, use the video from "American Bandstand", with Dick Clark. Thanks!
"The Air that I Breathe" is another Hollies tune that is a must!
The Hollies were doing cute songs like "Bus Stop" that was great but when this one hit the transistor radios, everyone was like, "That's the Hollies!?" They went hard fast and it made this song unique in addition to its perfection which was always a trademark for them, it was a riff that was totally new and sounded like it was the roots of rock, it is a classic.
"That Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress Had It ALL!!!" "Had It ALL!!!"
Also in the movie Remember the Titans, one of Denzel Washington's best movies!
1 of my favorite movies.
All his movies are his best....lol
Love that movie
Another song that shows up in “Forrest Gump” is Bob Seger’s “Against the Wind”. It’s beautiful and would be great for your channel. Love you guys. 🌺✌️
P.S. they did such a good job that CCR sued them and won. Half of the money from this song goes to CCR.
The Hollies set out to write a song in the style of Creedence Clearwater Revival. That's this song.
Love the Hollies♥️ they have great music! Classic ✌️🤘
The earlier song Bus Stop is tremendous but this is probably my favorite Hollies song. Although I would also say, All I need is the air that I breathe. But it's amazing to me how so many people even my age that grew up around this mistakenly believe that this is a Creedence Clearwater Revival song. I guess that vocal with the reverb on it is reminiscent of John Fogerty. But every instrument in this song is fantastic. The rhythm section is killer, the way the drums and the bass work together. And of course the guitar and then his wonderful voice and the lyrics tell a story but it's also humorous. And it is truly a fantastic dance song.
One of my all time favorite songs. Air that I breathe is another favorite ✌️
This song was in the movie Remember the Titans so you may have heard it before. Lots more to discover from the Hollies.
How can you not like this song...its ROCK N ROLL. It'll never die.
Asia at 3:24 gave him the stink eye of rage for his size 6 comment--love it!
Oh, shit! This is one of the grooviest rock songs ever made. As a companion piece (both musically and thematically) y'all should hear TWILIGHT ZONE by Golden Earring.
The long version
Yes
Radar love has to be in the mix as well!
This was one of those guitar riffs that just grabbed me. As soon as I heard it I had to learn to play it - I was about 14 when this album (Distant Light) came out and I'd been playing guitar for about a year at that point. That was the spring/summer of 1972 and I still jam to that record. There's a few good songs on that record:
"What A Life I've Led" (with Mick Abrahms, of Jethro Tull fame on pedal steel guitar)
"To Do With Love"
"Promised Land" (Heavier vibe than what The Hollies were known for, but the guitar work in this song is worth the listen. And there's even a wee homage to the harmony based songs from the Graham Nash era)
I think you should check out:
"Carrie Anne" (a "shy love letter" to Marianne Faithful)
"Bus Stop"
"He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother"
Nothing but Love for this Song!
This song reflects all the rock of the 60s but ironically it is from 1972. Behind its time or paying tribute to it. Beautiful song
Hollies were a great group and I loved all their music, brings me back to my youth. The woman in this video, where in the Hell did they find this picture
A long time fav of mine. I was so surprised when I found out that this is a British band! They are going for an American "Swamp Rock" like CCR. How did they do Merica better than Merica?
It's not American. It's just great rock and roll!
These 2 are fun together. He is funny and clever and she is a perfect compliment smart and sassy.
"My name ain't J.J.. but she's dyn-o-mite." Hilarious BJ.
Great reaction. You guys are making me giggle today. You're like a comedy act.
Asia, your death stare is absolutely terrifying!! And hilarious as well!! 😂
Every woman in a relationship has mastered that „death stare“ that strikes fear in any man!
@@Proverbs--bm3fo Only one thing worse: When you expect a death stare and it never comes! Terrifying because you don't know what she's up to! We all remember Lorena Bobbitt!
Great reaction!!! I had a smile on my face, watching you two,, the whole way through!!!
Most of the reviews/reactions I've seen of The Hollies are of this song and of their two beautiful ballads, "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" and "The Air that I Breathe," both of which came in the early '70s. But The Hollies really made their mark on popular music in the '60s as part of the onslaught of bands that comprised "The British Invasion," following The Beatles over from the U. K. to be met with huge commercial success here in America. The first of their hits that I remember was from 1964 with "Just One Look," which peaked at #2 in the U. K. but never really found similar success in the U. S. But that would change with their 1966 release of "Bus Stop," their first top ten hit in America. They followed that with "Stop, Stop, Stop" and "On A Carousel." "Carrie Anne" was another top ten hit. My two favorite Hollies hits of the '60s were "Look Through Any Window" (1965) and "Pay You Back With Interest" (1967), which was only released as a single here in America.
The earlier Hollies material (before 1969) included Graham Nash in the group. Graham Nash would leave the group in '69 to join David Crosby and Steven Stills to form the supergroup, Crosby, Stills and Nash (later joined by Neil Young to become known as Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young), one of the most important rock groups in history. (Listen to "Suite Judy Blue Eyes" or most anything from their first two albums, "Crosby Stills and Nash" or "De Ja Vu." Two landmark albums in rock 'n roll history. If you want to hear Graham Nash, check out his lead vocal on the gorgeous "Lady Of the Island." ruclips.net/video/-DNE3l0haKk/видео.html
It's threads like these that get overlooked by reaction channels, since you guys don't know all these threads that connect different artists and groups. I guess that's why we're here...to tell you.
"Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)" was a cool song, alright. But honestly, it pales in comparison to many of those '60s songs that the Hollies released before it. If you need a push for where to start, I'd point you to "Bus Stop." ruclips.net/video/DFPu83ggTlM/видео.html
You folks are fun. It's great to see you loving some of this old music.
I was preteen spending all my time at the skating rink and when this song would play the bouncer (helps you up if you fall or tells you to slow down) would start dancing on his skates and I would just be in awe and wish I could do that!!!
When that guitar first hits u know its bout to go down
I have an actual real world top 10 and this Hollies classic is in it!
and btw so is ‘I’d love to change the world’ by ten years after if you never covered it b4😆
Ooh yeah, and ‘bus stop’ is a must hear!
I love Asia's Death Stare at BJ!
Omg! This is my favorite song by the Hollies. Love it! That opening riff is iconic.
One of the most underrated bands ever. Watch out BJ you might get a will Smith moment coming your way.❤️👍🥊
The Hollies took their name from Buddy Holly!
Love the Hollies. I was 21 when that song came out
Kickass song from the 70s!
Thanks for you 2, you both lift me up with your music 😊
This song was also featured on the soundtrack to the movie Remember The Titans.
When I was young and this was on the radio, for me it was the ultimate "I can't figure out half the words he's singing but the song is great anyways" song. Back then, before the internet, you couldn't just look up the lyrics. I could make out enough to get the gist of the story, anyway.
You wouldn’t think this band was British from this song…it has such a Louisiana southern feel to it.
The Hollies i just luv their music
oh Asia when you hear The Hollies do "The Air that I Breathe" you are so done for ❤ BJ be ready to catch her if she swoons lol
I’ve actually never see Forrest Gump but it
seems every song ever written is on it! A Classic…
The Hollies are such a Great British band.
Love you guys reaction’s comments and appreciation of music we grew up on in the sixties and seventies………great peoples you guys are👍🏾
I have the 7" vinyl sleeve of The Hollies Long cool woman (in a black dress) hand signed by two original members Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliott! C. 2022.
A timeless classic rock record.
6/2022.
I love the Hollies. I'd like to see you do more of them.
Whenever I hear this song, it reminds me of the pool hall in my home town when I was 15. That was 50 years ago. Watching the lyrics in this video is the first time I have ever understood the words. But it didn't matter because the song is so cool.
Good reaction! This sounds as great now as it did when I first heard the song way back in the 70s.
This song was used in a lot of movies about the 60-70s, but my favorite is Remember The Titans!!
It's crazy how many hits the Hollies had!
Great song, once again great songs will last forever and ever, the hollies did a lot of good stuff, great rabbit hole to go down
BJ is highly intelligent about rock music! Very nice ☺️, thanks for all the great reactions. You 2 are cool.💕
No, it wasn't Forrest Gump. It was in Remember the Titans during the winning streak montage. Great reaction!
This was the first 45 rpm record I ever bought as a child and I bought it thinking it was something else then instantly it was my favorite at 10 years old . In those days we got mixed 45's in Canada with hit songs from two different bands I bought it for Sweet's Ballroom Blitz and this was on the B side .
Saw them live in the Middle East and they were unbelievably great
Always loved the Hollies!! 👍
Time to bring in Sugarloaf and their banger GREEN-EYED LADY. Since you asked for more suggestions.
And then, you will have to, have to, take a ride in VEHICLE. A great song by the group THE IDES OF MARCH. You got to.
Ihr zwei seid absolute Weltklasse. Macht weiter so.
Great reaction. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS BANGER LOVE ❤ 💖 ❣ 💕 💘 ❤ The extended version is the way to go.
I love that they love the Hollies. 😀
🎶 All I Need Is The Air That I Breathe 🎶
THE ULTIMATE SMOOTH CRUISE JAM 🎸 👌 😎
When I was a kid I thought for sure this was CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revival). I was an adult when I finally realized it was The Hollies. Sounds so much like CCR
This was also in the movie, Remember The Titans. This is a great song.
Everybody Skate!
This was very popular in the skating rinks. Great song to dance to on skates.
Such a great song. Tight without any long solo or weird crap. This is still better than 99 percent of anything produced today
When I was on elementary school I use to watch the high school cheerleaders do a dance to this song. I thought they where so cool! Lol
Oh man😂 I love how Asia gave you sass for your size six comment. Ooh man, that look just gave me chills.😂
Even though I knew this song for years before, it always reminds me of the movie "Remember the Titans."
This has been in numerous films but I best remember it during the "winning montage" in Remember The Titans.
One my top all time faves right here!!!!!!!!!!!
Love that song and group. If you get the chance give Marc Broussard singing Home a listen to. You will love it.
Another great song from years back.
Don’t know if anyone mentioned it, but the group took their name in part in honor of Buddy Holly.
This song is in my top 5 best songs ever!!
Size 6, size 16, don't matter......she had it all !!!!!!
LOL!!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
The guys used to play this when I'd show up the party with keg, tapper and solo cups...cuz I wore a long black leather coat and they were thirsty!! 😜
Good ole days!! 😁👍🏽❤
Asia was totally digging this haha! Please check out Shannon--Let The Music Play. It's so good.
Love their tunes! Classic.
Awesome cool song yay, been listening to this song since I was kid🤘😆🤘🎸🥁🎤
Forest Gump is one of my all time favorites. It’s so epic. So much history. ❤️
This song was also in Remember the Titans I believe. Great song!
Supersonic is the show from where you see all music clips great live show
