    would be dope if the military based a design off the odst armor a full motorcycle style helmet with Google glass built in headphones and oakley visor shatterproof then Kevlar armor the intimidation of seeing a soldier in full gear would fuck with the enemy

    • @NinjaTyler
      @NinjaTyler 7 лет назад +7

      john doe my friend does some of that now, he works on helmets for fighter pilots and they basically are putting Google glass type tech into them for basic huds, the future is now, and you can get full functioning Master Chief motorcycle gear.

    Alright, I have pretty much made this whole set, thanks to these amazing tutorials and templates, and one thing I can say is this: everything else you could just get away with making it once and calling a good enough. If you have the resources you should definitely make more than one helmet. On my third helmet, I finally have one that looks personable and is very solid.
    Also, another tip, just with the templates in general go into the printer settings and scale things if the pieces come out not fitting right. My first helmet was the original size and it was too big to stay stationary on my head. I scaled the templates down to 90% of their size on my third one and now it fits me perfectly. For the rest of my armor, I have scaled it down to 75% - 90% depending on the piece (I am a small person lol) and the set is now very fitted and overall looks better on me and feels more comfortable to wear.

It reminds me of a day when I was walking with my umbrella and it started to rain, softly at first, and it was kinda' nice, so I didn't bother with the umbrella. It started raining a little harder, not too bad, and I passed a guy on the street with HIS umbrella opened and he said: Why don't you use your umbrella?" and I said: "I don't wanna get it WET!" I swear that's a true story!! (ahh... I really crack myself up sometimes.)

    The original printouts in the PDF appear to be scaled to A4 paper (8.3"x11.7"), whereas American "Letter" paper measures slightly different- (8.5"x11"). Make sure that your printer adjusts for this, or it could be very slightly mis-sized!

      you can use bike visors, plastic sheets ive even seen somone use a coca cola bottle. you have to cut the plastic with the template just like you would do with foam and the just slot it in. there are tutorials on how to make ODST visors but it may just be quicker to look at reference pictures and see all the bends in the visor yourself. (you dont have to use plastic i think there are other materials but i used that as an example)

    • @thebastard890
      @thebastard890 5 лет назад +1

      If you're ok with losing the helmet, make it out of the foam (No visor, but add-ons are needed) then bury the helmet (with a piece of foam sticking up out of the sand) in moist sand, then pour molten metal into the foam piece sticking up, when done you should have a caste helmet with the previous piece of foam now being a chunk of metal, grind this piece off. I haven't actually tried this but I saw a vid on it, it was called casting metal from foam or something like that, it's a lost foam method I think. There are also ways to keep said foam tho

    • @jackofall9553
      @jackofall9553 3 года назад

    yo Dude can you put the original helmet desighn for the helmet in the costume behind you and maybe how to make the visor for it or where you got it

    • @AndrewDFT
      @AndrewDFT  8 лет назад +5

      Its incredibly hard to even get foam to look like the helmet behind me sadly, That one is a proper molded and cast resin helm. Hence why the helmet had to be simplified to achieve something beginners could make, soz

      danny ridler you would need to use a different material. Casting is used for the helmet behind him and would probably be needed for Emile considering the dome would be difficult

    Andrew you might already know of us but there this group called the Mandalorian Mercs costume club we basically dress up like boba fett or jango fett; and go out to events. The reason I'm tell isn't to share this info but to see what style and look your armor would be. P.S. use PBC broad for this armor instead of EVA foam.

Better to do it this way for the true pride at the end result. Mine is my child, and if anyone touches it, they will see the business end an m6g magnum. 😁
