Finally a review that focuses on every detail of the car, especially on those that really matter in everyday use, and not just on how good it sounds. Spot on!
Thomas you're a legend man. You reviewed my dream car, the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV in manual. I'm so happy for your review because now I'm more convinced I should save up for this car. 6 years later. But better late than never. Lol
I just want to take time out to appreciate you for the great reviews you consistently put out there, they serve great purpose for us car enthusiasts and those looking in the car market. Once again, you are appreciated!!!
Alfas are today quality cars. I had a 159 2.4 diesel model from 2006 to 2009 and that was the first well built Alfa to my knowledge. Giulias are today very beautiful cars with a special touch of emotion. Thomas is well prepared and hence knows his stuff. I especially enjoy his somewhat funny English pronunciation and partly German intonation. Thank you Thomas. Hopefully I did not insult you as that was not my intention.
When the old Giulia is on the screen, with or without the new one, I can't take my eyes off it. Either it's my age or the CAD/wind-tunnel design of the new version looks so much like the competitors.
Got into your videos this weekend and I've watched a few, you've earned yourself a new subscriber. Looking forward to more from you Autogefüel and Thomas, keep up the good work!
the QV model must be faster than its main rivals right? Like the M3 or the C63. That exhaust note alone is just intoxicating. I believe the engine was tuned by Ferrari as well. Alfa Romeo is back!!
hey, don't need to believe in if it is a ferrari engine, it is already a ferrari California v 90* engine , removed just 2 cylinders from that and revs even better because compact and lighter. alfa Romeo was technologically always there (at least with 156 and 159), but they needed a ferrari engine and rear wheel drive for marketing, because German cars are all about marketing to sell, now Mr Marchionne did it...so let's see it 😉...I am happy because new 3 series will be really good, because they can't sell this crap 3 series anymore that good even there are many zombie BMW fans and paid journalists.
The Jaguar XE and the Giulia exposed the glaring faults in the current 3 Series. They beat it in handling, and the Giulia even has a better exterior and interior design with comparable quality while the Quadrifoglio just eats the M3 and M4 for breakfast.
Intoxicating ? Compared to what ? A Prius ? Good V6 Sound is only made by Jaguar so far. This one is just loud and raspy...not very melodic at all. It just gets louder or less loud. If i'd have to choose one of the more boring mainstream power sedans i'd go for the C63 still - which sounds a hundred times more credible and grunty and in terms of interior feel plays in a completely different league.
ThirdLife86 Well, the C63 AMG does have a V8. that's somerthing you won't get on the M3/M4 or the Giulia. However, I would still get the Giulia. I like the interior style better (I haven't sat in both cars to talk about the feel) and knowing that my car shares mechanics with a Ferrari...
This Italians can make really beautiful cars indeed!. Not particularlly keen on the interior combination of brown + black, but that's a minor subjective detail.I think that Audi and Alfa have totally different target drivers and they would not easily mix. Both cars are great, though in my opinion, Audi is a bit overestimated (we've had two).Fantastic HD quality Thomas!Cheers from the NL
Great review as usual, i love this car!! Probably because i'm italian and i'm an alfista but i think this time Alfa has done the best car in his category
Yay!!!! Great review! :D The car looks amazing and it's great that it finally got to your hands. I'm really glad you liked it. That's a seal of quality that I really wanted the car to have.
Last week I was at the AR dealership and sit and drove the new Giulia. There are a lot of things to say, but I really enjoyed the massive space in the back. I'm 1.87m and had a lot of leg room behind myself. The quality of materials are nice, the craftmanship is ok, not more than that. But that's not the point with this Alfa. The ride is very, very good. It makes you smile just like a Alfa Romeo should do. And in the real, the car looks way more attractive than on photo/video. What I didn't like was that the trunk opens really hard. It almost cracks the rear window if you don't hold it properly. All with all, a really, really nice car. You can't complain about the car, but more on the model policy of AR. Why isn't there a sportswagon? I mean, come on... Such a shame. And, in the end I think (my) Giulietta does have a bit more charme. It is more "Italian" in my eyes.
Which car is better? Audi?BMW?Alfa? In my opinion if you feel great just cruising downtown and you enjoy just riding the Alfa and you can't stop similing than...you'va got the answer. There is a milion of BMWs and Audis on the road. Driving Alfa means something that people of money desire - to be unique and recognizable. Alfa is back in the game!!! Now waiting for C6 relaunch - I miss that car so much.
yeah, that's why Audi and BMW (mini in particular) languish near the bottom in reliability surveys is it? German quality is a myth and always has been since Mercedes went cost cutting in the early 00s. Japan is the only country that really pursues quality and reliability above all else.
The car is better because it is being produce in certain country? Come on man. The spare parts suppliers are pretty much the same for many car manufacturers. Stop talking bullshit about the origin that makes the car better or worse.
Thanks, excellent review! Good to see Alfa did in fact deliver now. After all the delays I was afraid they wouldn't make it. And they did well, this car is good looking on the outside. The interior is also quite nice and seems to be good quality. And it seems to drive like an Alfa should, to inspire the driver. I'm personally especially curious about the 2 liter gasoline engine, for which we have to wait a little bit still. I hope this car becomes a success, although this is a very tough segment to compete in. And without an estate version they are already at a disadvantage. Still, enough people should be convinced by this car's qualities!
Finally and thank you for a great detail review Thomas, thank god alfa did not emulate the germans on the screen design and location....once again, great honest review. I like the QV version, looks awesome...
I really enjoy Thomas’ reviews, very useful indeed. My heart says buy an Alfa Stelvio or Julia, but my brain interrupts and says Mercedes B class or Volvo XC40 or 60... tough choice..
***** Oh I see, thank you! So, if I got the point, in your opinion there is still a little gap separating Giulia from Bmw 3 Serie and Audi A4 about build quality, but not about road performances, did I understand well your point?
Nice review. If people complain that the button doesn't click like an Audi, just buy an Audi, leave this for those that know how to enjoy a car, instead of just wanting to show off the symbol and looking for stupid things to criticize. Don't see any buttons for controlling the radio: as long as it imitates a german, who cares about safety while driving...
Like Qantas being the Spirit of Australia, Alfa Romeo brings Soul into the heart of driving, and nothing out there comes close to these, only a true blood Alfisti will understand this. Thanks for the demonstration and gospel advise Thomas.
know Walter De Silva and Giugiaro, the Common Rail? ask VW. Also are you using the Latin alphabet and calendar, also in Germany's name was given by the Romans.
Ladies and gents, when the Italians designing a sports car, the rest of the manufactures goes down to toilet really fast !!!!! I'm using this exaggeration, because Alfa Rome are the only cars that definitely has a soul. Yes, can give you some more problems some times in time, but believe me you are getting in love with it. Maybe you can not understand what I'm saying unless you owned one in the past...... and that's true guys......
Are you kidding me? Kia sucks balls! Horrible car in terms of every comparison/ factors, including reliability. Go drive a Alfa 159, or ask its owner about reliability. Don't make up stories without any knowledge.
Kia cars are junk, comparable only to Chinese cars. how dare that guy comparing Kia to Alfa Romeo; a top of the top performance car??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Handsome looking saloon car indeed glad to see alfa back on track, but it's expensive,l am waiting for the Audi RS3 saloon as my next car that will be a direct comparison to this lovely car
I think the front triangle grill should be quite smaller and, for example, the bottom of the triangle should not go so far down... similar to the classic Alfas. A smaller triangle would be so much more elegant.
Can't wait for the Stelvio quadrifoglio review.I'm trying to decide between a Macan turbo and the Stelvio. My brain says Porsche my heart says Alfa Romeo.
Can you do a review of the 'Veloce' 2.0l 280hp petrol engine AT8 AWD? The Quadrifoglio will probably kill my bank account by garage billing, servicing that massive engine. 280hp may also be more reasonable for everyday use.
Ansonsten top Auto top Review :)
For those of us that love the marque has the wait for this Giulia been worth it? The front is done well, the side and rear can join the list of a dozen anonymous mid size sedans from Japan and Korea. Interior is about as inspiring as a Geely Emgrand 7. Someone really needs to step in and bank roll FCA so divisions like Alfa can produce the inspiring cars we all want them to build. Really liked the full HD, full screen, full length format here Thomas, pity though you didn't take the vintage one out for review.
Oh really? then I would like to know which of these 3 cars are better looking then giulia... Mercedes C, audi a4 or bmw 3 series? because your argument brings the topic there, after you chose yours write down here please, I will laugh it with my a.s...
if it is so, I do not joke 3 series interior is not more inspiring then lada samara... or all German 3 put half tablet pc to cockpit, a primary school child could think of it...audi a4, outside is carbon copy of old one, they are teasing with customers... if you put Mercedes c class, e or s next to eachother... it is like Russian matruska babies... I don't talk about 3 series, it is like ford Sierra mark 1 from 80s, it is even not a design...
All three have their shortcomings. The F30/31 has unacceptably high NVH and a woeful interior but let's wait for the new one, the B9 is predictably unemotional but well built and competent and the W205 must pushed the envelope for MB design with it's Hyundai side crease, but it's well engineered. Point is they're all instantly recognisable, just like the Mito, Giulietta and especially 4C. Is this the same AR that 10 years ago produced the magnificent 8C? Alfa should have gone further with the Giulia, they could have designed a remarkable competitor (and we would have forgiven them as usual for build quality). Do you believe this is the best Giulia AR can put to market as a 2017? They are capable of much more.
In Norway you would get to drive up to 100 km/h, very exciting! I actually kind of like this car, I still have to get used to the typical Alfa Romeo triangular grill. But if I had to buy a car from this segment I think I would rank them: 1. Jaguar XE 2. Audi A4 3. Alfa Romeo Giulia 4. Mercedes-Benz C-Class 5. BMW 3 Series
Veloce version (petrol) with 280hp should be perfect compromize (if q4 is a bit too much $). Will be driving diesel and petrol (both manual+auto) Super versions coming week....alone. Looking fwd!!
I drove one earlier, and 2 things bothered me. The rubberized cloth cover on the steering column looks unfinished 13:02 And I often pushed on the central control knob by accident when having my arm on the central armrest, resulting in distracting entries on the screen. Oh, and what's considered normal on cars nowadays, is looking through portholes instead of being in a greenhouse; other road users can easily hide in the blind spots.
What a beauty!!! Just in love with this car! The only one compatitor is 3 series (IMAO!). Giulia looks much better than Ghibli! I think it's the best looking Italian sedan right now. Thomas why are you comparing it with Audi so much?) Is Audi your top car brand? "Start button like in R8..." It's like in Ferrari F430 (there was no R8 in 2005 :). I think A4 is not a compatitor to this car) A4 is too conservative when Giulia is so emotional, sporty and unique! Thank you fo this episode Thomas! =)
Don't agree with you :) The most quality interior in my memory was in 6 Series Gran Coupé. The new S and E class have almost perfectly build interiors. New Lexus LS, GS, LX have really impressive interior quality. The only Audi that I like is A7 but if i'll have to choose between it and 6 series it will be BMW for shure. All we have different tastes.
great review as always Thomas.😊😊👍👍this is your fan from San Francisco. would you recommend buying this 500 horsepower alpha romeo?? I worry about the reliability and maintenance.thanks thomas
reliability reliability reliability You should be worry about your pleasure ! If you can buy it and never sold and reliability never will be a problem ;-)
Judging by the amount of space underneath the hood of the QV...They could just easily fit the Tipo 154 V8 in there and launch the car into the stratosphere :D
Very good. 👍🏾 I watched the entire review. I have to ask why is this not compared to the 1995 Alfa Romeo 164q? It seems to be a better example of what the Giulia is a progression of. Even more so than the older Giulia which just bares the name. #WeAreAlfisti. It's obvious that they are the same car but the Quadrifoglio is so much better looking that it makes the normal one a bit bland.
why .... because real Alfa are rear wheel drive If not old Giulia you can compare with Alfa 75 or Alfetta (This last one very similar as soul to new Giulia , sporty yet comfortable at the same time)
This guy is the most relaxing and elegant reviewer on the net. Very nice to sit back relax and experience cars with Thomas. Well done man.
+Kaymoney081 👍👍
Kaymoney081 - I hundred percent agree, a really elegant and balanced review, with great clarity and content. Thank you Autogefuhl
thanks m8, appreciating the support!
TOTALLY AGREE!

There it is, guys! You want it, you get it! And what a triple-setup! =)
So good! Will be interesting also to see the new, bigger Alfa sedan and weird SUV coming out.
I saw one today in the flesh! It looks even better than on camera! Really stunning!
I agree
And also white is very nice
And for me
when a car is beautiful in white this means that had a good design
+Primo jbg
+Primo jbg de los dos,
This is the most comprehensive and useful review of the Giulia I have found. Thank you once again Thomas and Autogefühl.

I just want to take time out to appreciate you for the great reviews you consistently put out there, they serve great purpose for us car enthusiasts and those looking in the car market. Once again, you are appreciated!!!

Well the previous model, the Alfa 156, was also a very good car; they sold a lot of those
Alfa Romeo shows with the new Giulia that they can still build polarizing cars !!
Well done on that !!
Stunning, great job Alfa Romeo!!..... & of course Autogefuhl!!
(y)
Quadrifoglio is first sporty Alpha I would seriously consider in 15 years motoring with mainly sporty derivatives. Well done Alpha!
The best review on this alfa on youtube as usual. Full HD, full screen, full length...

Thomas is one of my favorite reviewers. Love that there is finally a new and competitive Alfa Romeo in the market. I may buy.
love to hear that, keep supporting us!!
The best interior dash in the segment !
the speedometer needles do a heartbeat light sequence when you get in after you close the door. Neat little easter egg💯
This video is in extremely high quality. Amazing!

Just got a Giulia Super, and I'm super excited !
Been waiting for this review for a while now, well done Thomas! The more I watched, the more I realised: I MUST BUY THIS CAR THE MOMENT I CAN!
=)
Checking back, bought one three months ago - can't stop driving it 🤣
AR brand is not available in Canada, so it was very entertaining to watch ! Great video, thanks!!!
Do you want to see some action with the Quadrifoglio? Check out that one: ruclips.net/video/AsP6ONQcVKY/видео.html
I love that Quadrifoglio. and yes, I like the size of the rear diffuser... Just one gorgeous car.
that intro, like going to autogefühl church
haha awesome =)
Video quality is excellent. What camera do you use and do you grade it?
thanks! thats pana gh4
+Autogefühl nice choice :)

As always the best car reviews! Thomas number one!
thanks m8!
Great video! Owned a Duetto since 1971. You are right on the money.
Hi Thomas, I just recently discovered your channel. You make excellent reviews and you are very knowledgeable.
+Pasquale Franze great to have u here now!

Love those unlimited autobahnen of yours! I often cross the border to enjoy riding my bike at real speed.

Great review as usual, i love this car!! Probably because i'm italian and i'm an alfista but i think this time Alfa has done the best car in his category
+nicola miriano 🇮🇹
Beautiful car. Grantourismo on 57:16 is also gorgeous. Giulia reminds on it from the back because of similar rear lights with Maserati.
Yay!!!! Great review! :D
The car looks amazing and it's great that it finally got to your hands. I'm really glad you liked it. That's a seal of quality that I really wanted the car to have.
thank you and indeed it's a good car
I love Alfa's!! the new designs are nice but not as sexy as the 159!!! What a beautiful car that is
We are back!!!!!!!
Great review! - way better and more thorough than most I've seen here on UT :-)
+Krikstar123 thx man!
You've got the best accent ever!
keep tuning in =)

I really enjoy Thomas’ reviews, very useful indeed. My heart says buy an Alfa Stelvio or Julia, but my brain interrupts and says Mercedes B class or Volvo XC40 or 60... tough choice..
Very clear review, congrats.
But, just a question: why didn't you test the Quadrifoglio version on Autobahn?
+alexrm82 thanks! We werent allowed to as tyres were worn out. We ll show that again at a later stage

Danke Thomas, wie immer sehr ausfuehrlich!
vielen Dank auch, bleib uns treu !
this time no penalties, Alfa Romeo vs German cars 3 to 0
perhaps, but with France 2-0 it is safe.
+♡ Kleinr Schmetterling ♡ (Liberty Schulz) those ugly ass new BMW and Mercedes ain't fuck with this Alfa Romeo giulia
Hahaha.
know Walter De Silva and Giugiaro, the Common Rail? ask VW. Also are you using the Latin alphabet and calendar, also in Germany's name was given by the Romans.
mine was just a joke, made the day after the game Germany Italy lost on penalties
Looks good! I'd wish standard Giulia have option of sporty seats with better side support.

One issue, never compare an Alfa Romeo with a Kia!
Well.. he's done worse, he compared it with a.. SKODA.
Skoda is way better than Kia still.
Yeah right! Kia's much better than those 4-wheel oil pots from Skoda!
Are you kidding me? Kia sucks balls! Horrible car in terms of every comparison/ factors, including reliability.

Very good review. I really enjoyed! Question for You Thomas: What do You drive in real life? Which car?
thanks! See my big Q&A episode :)
The camera and sound of the instrument and steering is out of sync, but overall a GREAT review!
I hope Alfa Romeo Giulia is a good car (good Reliability). great Review
Excellent review as always...the choice will be difficult between a XE and a GIULIA

great video like usual thomas. this car is so gorgeous esp. the QV
+Tri Do grazie!
what do you think of the manual gearbox on the QV Thomas? I heard that alfa will not bring the manual to the right hand drive model :(
great car! excited to see this in the USA
Alfa Romeo🇮🇹 is Back in Buissniss 🏆🥇🍀🚘⛲🏛
Hi Thomas. Great review once again. There will be one more petrol engine. The US is getting a 2.0t 276hp, claiming 5.5s 0-60 mph.
ah pretty interesting. Thx!

I don't talk about 3 series, it is like ford Sierra mark 1 from 80s, it is even not a design...
si un milione di dollari americani, piu bonus riservate.
They are capable of much more.
you must see it on the road
I can guarantee you that it catches your eye
In Norway you would get to drive up to 100 km/h, very exciting!
I actually kind of like this car, I still have to get used to the typical Alfa Romeo triangular grill.
But if I had to buy a car from this segment I think I would rank them:
1. Jaguar XE
2. Audi A4
3. Alfa Romeo Giulia
4. Mercedes-Benz C-Class
5. BMW 3 Series
I would rank them according to your list:
1. - 4.
2. - 2.
3. - 1.
4. - 3.
5. - 5.
100 is not much.
amazing review, thanks AGF!
thanks stick with us!
Veloce version (petrol) with 280hp should be perfect compromize (if q4 is a bit too much $). Will be driving diesel and petrol (both manual+auto) Super versions coming week....alone. Looking fwd!!
675 LT's spotted! Great review BTW :)
heh you're right :) thanks!
I love your videos, guys! Keep them up!
we'll do!
Love it! Great work Thomas!
thank yoz Marquel!
Very good video, congrats!
+Dan Alexandru 👌
I realized only at 0:47 that he is on the upstairs
haha
What a beauty!!! Just in love with this car! The only one compatitor is 3 series (IMAO!). Giulia looks much better than Ghibli! I think it's the best looking Italian sedan right now. Thomas why are you comparing it with Audi so much?) Is Audi your top car brand? "Start button like in R8..." It's like in Ferrari F430 (there was no R8 in 2005 :). I think A4 is not a compatitor to this car) A4 is too conservative when Giulia is so emotional, sporty and unique! Thank you fo this episode Thomas! =)
+Vitalii Gladun thx! Audi leads interior qualiy atm thats why
Very cool review man! Keep up!
we'll do!
great review as always Thomas.😊😊👍👍this is your fan from San Francisco. would you recommend buying this 500 horsepower alpha romeo?? I worry about the reliability and maintenance.thanks thomas
+Michael Lui thx m8! Tough one. Reliabilty was bad in the past, question is really if they have improved now. We ll have to wait for that
reliability reliability reliability
You should be worry about your pleasure !
If you can
buy it and never sold
and reliability never will be a problem ;-)
Thanks for a great review
thanks for watching, spread the word for us!
Very interesting review. Do you know the exact name of the grey colour? Is it Stromboli or Vesuvio?
Judging by the amount of space underneath the hood of the QV...They could just easily fit the Tipo 154 V8 in there and launch the car into the stratosphere :D
Great review..However sad to see the Alfa key re-designed to the German style, i.e Mercedes...
Hooray for the integrated screen. The only reason I won’t buy a merc is the silly stuck on ipad screen.
The middle air vents are from Mazda 6 2016 pre facelift...Alfa sharing parts like with the MX5 and Spider?
Maybe I missed it in the video: how does compare to the BMW 3 series?
Great review. Can't wait to drive my friends one :-P
+Lutalo Bossa grazie!
Very good. 👍🏾 I watched the entire review. I have to ask why is this not compared to the 1995 Alfa Romeo 164q? It seems to be a better example of what the Giulia is a progression of. Even more so than the older Giulia which just bares the name. #WeAreAlfisti. It's obvious that they are the same car but the Quadrifoglio is so much better looking that it makes the normal one a bit bland.
why .... because real Alfa are rear wheel drive
If not old Giulia you can compare with Alfa 75 or Alfetta
(This last one very similar as soul to new Giulia , sporty yet comfortable at the same time)
+Lyubov Lyuba that's true... The 1995 Alfa Romeo 164q is front wheel drive. I forget about that.
Lovely Interior !
