Please excuse my silly question, but does the RAM card actually store information on it? If I am upgrading to more RAM and take the old RAM cards out, will I be losing Information or do I have to download that Info first?

I don't think that's silly! I'm actually wondering the same thing! Did you ever figure this out?
I am contemplating moving everything from my MACBook to my dropbox before I do this!

Hi I have a 2010 glossy screen 17 inch macbook pro. Can I upgrade to 16 gb of ram rather than 8?

Unfortunately no, that machine will run only up to 8GB in total.

What is the maximum I can upgrade? Can I upgrade it to 32 GB?

Why doesn't the MacBookPro6,1 support 16gb of ram? Is there anyway to bypass that limitation?

MacSales. com I see, thanks. So it’s a hardware constraint then?

Is there anyway I can upgrade to 16GB???

C02D60VRDC7C is my serial number and I want to upgrade to 16GB RAM even though it says 8GB max for a Mid 2010 17 Inch MacBook Pro.
      Please help!

I spoke with a colleague of yours over the phone about this matter and I will upgrade to 8GB RAM and add an SSD to make my MacBook Pro faster.
The SSD should make up the difference of not being able to upgrade to 16GB RAM.

Can you upgrade a mid 2010 MacBook pro to two 8 GB slots to equal 16 or is it just 2 4GB slots to equal?
