Outra coisa...qual barramento vc usou ? eu sei que esse modelo utiliza o 1333...mas vi alguns americanos, dizendo que colocaram 1600 e rodou.... achei estranho. valew irmão !

Arthur Ferreira blza brother! Tmj.

The video worked for me. One point to make. Try and find a well fitting phillips head screw driver. You do not want to strip a screw head. Second, my MacBook Pro (early 2011) screws had a liberal amount of thread locker that had been applied to the screws. It was a little nerve racking to break the screws loose, the first time. FWIW, I also replaced my HDD with an SSD, for a couple of reasons. There are 4 short stubs that are fitted to the side rails of the HDD. These need to be removed and transferred to the replacement SSD. NOTE. The screw head on these stubs required a #6 - Torx screw driver. This is really small. I had a torx multi-tool that did go down to #6. Fortunate for me. I could have improvised a way to remove the stubs, but the #6 torx tool is the proper way to do it, for my make/model machine.

    1. if you do video editing or gaming then totally worth it and a big difference if you check email and do light browsing no not at all
    2. Performance with large programs like games and video editing is extremely fast is it safe yes very safe as long as you know how to install it properly
    3. apple says 8gb max because on a laptop most people dont do anything that requires more than 8gbs.
I hope this helped you out.

RAM stands for random access memory, so it doesnt permanently store anything, It just handles temporary tasks like browsing the web and using iTunes. The more RAM, the faster your computer will be and it will handle multitasking better.

    Hey Justin,
Thanks for taking the time to post this video. It's very helpful. I have the exact same computer and I've found the exact same RAM (I think). I'm really tempted to buy it and upgrade the RAM but I'm scared of one thing. A lot of reviews I read on the sellers website talk about how it doesn't work, or worse yet, how the RAM fails after a year of use or so. This video is three years old now, so I would like to know, how long did the RAM in this laptop last for?

apple recommends, 4x2 a total of 8 gigs, but if you need more u can get 8x2 that is 16 gigs of ram, u might spend about $100 for 16 gigs of ram , which is fairly cheap.

Put the SSD into the original bay and move your HDD into the data doubler. That way you can utilize the SSD speed. The Optical Drive bay doesn't support SSD speeds (6 Gigabits), it supports only around 3 Gigabits.

One thing that should be advertised is the discharge of power. And grounding yourself by touching some metallic point on the computer. I thought you did that but I don't remember. My main concern is that the battery still feeds power and while its safe to assume the power release is minimal, you may want to advertise the dangers of replacing RAM with a powered system.

I'm not sure if the ID based Crucial has offices in CA, but Corsair, based in DE has an office in CA pretty close to Apple so they send their RAM to Apple for testing. Therefore Corsair is another considerable brand. Kingston is completely CA based so I guess it sends RAM to Apple although I have no idea. Corsair proclaimed that they get Apple to test the RAM if you buy the (surprisingly cheaper than standard branding) "Mac Memory" branded version on the back of its packaging.

I would never recommend placing your computer on a carpeted surface for repairs. That's just asking for ESD issues. Unless you know your surface is made to be ESD free, then you have reason for concern. At the PC manufacturer I worked for we always would scrub any contacts with an ink eraser or spray the contacts with contact cleaner. Best way to ground yourself is to grab the chassis of the system you're working on. If you a touching the metal chassis, you are the same charge of the system and stand little to no risk of zapping sensitive circuitry.

Just an FYI, whenever you are tightening screws do not tighten them down all the way on one side first. Start them all over then rotate as you tighten, i.e. as in this example, tighten down one the way at 12 o'oclock then one at 6 then 3, then 9, back to 12, etc. Just like you would a car wheel. ; )

The best RAM is cheap and has a good rating. The max is 16gb but, I would recommend no more than 8(2 x 4gb) for the non professional. I have a 2011 15 inch macbook pro and 8 gb when you are skyping, watching a video, and using photoshop really comes in handy. Just make sure it is 1600mhz DDR3 SDRAM :)

I see tons of comments that it is possible to upgrade macbook pro 13in 2011 (and later) to 16gb. However apple says that maximum is 8gb. But people have installed 16gb. Questions:
    1. Is it worth it? Can you see the difference?
    2. Performance? Is it safe?
    3. Why does apple state that it can support maximum of 8gb?
Thanks a lot for the tutorial. Defiantly will use this video for help.

No. The MBP only supports up to 8GB of 1600MHz RAM (204 Pin).

I'm so glad you can do this. Do you need to act like you're better than everyone else though?

not even gaming, iMovie, safari, mail, iPhoto, and iTunes. Thats its all it takes to slow things down to a crawl. Once i can find a sale, I'm upgrading. Other than that, i love my mac!

Great video, very easy to follow. I wonder, could you show me how to access the RAM compartment?. It seems to me that the bottom RAM stick is not connected properly, and it will not pop out so I can push it in. I am thinking that if I access the RAM compartment some other way I mat be able to properly connect the bottom RAN stick, as it is right now it only recognizes 8 GB instead of the 16 GB actually installed (but not properly connected.) Thank you in advance.

Dat slowing down Darude Sandstorm doe
btw i remember trying to fix a macbook with a data doubler. tried sticking a dvd into it, wont go in. take apart and see the problem.
Warranty of that laptop was instantly voided and the owner had to be charged for it and also had to get the optical drive reinstalled before i could work on it.
