I appreciate how you say 1 and 1/2 sticks of butter for 3/4 cups. It's those little things that help!
When you said, "Alexa".. My Alexa set the alarm here too. LOL That was too funny.
I have made this. It very good. Used reg saltines and semi sweet chips to spread out after cooking. You really don't need the nuts and toffee chips. And you keep price down too. They tend to fall all over anyway. Let it sit over night and crack it up. It is delish...
So glad to hear I can leave the nuts out! I have tree allergies and am unable to eat nuts but it seems like everyone puts nuts in everything.
if you refridge you can crack it sooner. it's good with just choc chips
Add chopped pecans a little more chopped into the caramel mixture before pouring over crackers. It will stick better and pecans taste better too. I don't care too much for chocolate added anyway.

Mine came out grainy and fell apart. Did I overcook?
I swear my Alexa never listens to me but she immediately set a timer for you 😂
Looks wonderful! I know this is 2 years ago, but as a carmel maker myself, you do not need to stir on a rolling boil. Stir like that at the end is all you need. It will be fluffy! I promise.
Fr... 3 minutes, it seems like she was stirring that mixture for at least 30 minutes. I think Alexa fell asleep. Lol
Mine didn’t melt together for some reason I think I just didn’t spread it out enough but it taste delicious. I use the Ritz crackers and chocolate chips on top. I put Hershey’s with almonds. I broke that up and put it on top came out really delicious. Thank you for yourvideo very well done, merry Christmas and happy 2024
I’m almost 70 and have never had this type of treat. I’ll definitely have to try this., and share with the neighbours so I don’t eat it all. 😊❤️🇨🇦
I'm sure this tastes delicious with the sweet and salty (salt on crackers) caramel and chocolate mixture!!! Thank you for sharing the recipe!!! It's a keeper👍
Thank you sister for doing these cooking shows are a distraction for us out here trying to hold it together🤗🙏
Amen to that!
I’ve always made this recipe using saltine crackers, but, yum, I need to make a change! Thank you so much!
Try graham crackers even better
@@sandrajacobs5549 Grahams sound even better. Thanks Sandra! Happiest of holidays to you!
@@sandrajacobs5549 I'm going to make all 3 versions of Christmas crack!!!
Ha my Alexa just went on a 3 minute timer as I'm watching your video. Looks yummy
I don’t have an Alexa but do have a granddaughter named Alexa, so I have a question what happens if you have a kid in the house named Alexa? Does it go off all the time?
That looks so yummy, and a great way to make caramel, too!
Alright, I'm gonna give this a try. Pray church pray..
Bill, you can do it!! You are going to LOVE them! Please like and subscribe! I believe in you!!!
That’s what we do best brother ❤❤😂😂😇😇
I'm praying Bill. I make English toffee .. the syrup is the same .nuts chocolate on parchment.! I peeked at your nose for life site. Are you RV living? I'm in NW Mt

I’ve made a version of this for YEARS. It’s originally called “mean sawg”. I do not have any idea why it was called that, but that was it’s name when I found the recipe on AOL in the 90’s lol. Anyway, the way the recipe was written was to use saltines, the butter/brown sugar mixture and topped with chocolate chips and crushed pecans. Let me tell you what!!! The salty sweetness has caused some friendly fire at our family’s Christmas “stingy Santa” games 😂😂😂.
Of course I always had some made for each family to take home anyway…and everyone knew it…but they all wanted that extra batch for themselves.
A girlfriend of mine also made it the way I do, but used Graham crackers. It was also very yummy, but I prefer the saltines for the salty “bite” to go with all that sweetness.
U made me laugh with your "stingy santa" story. Im thinking of making a few large pumpkin pies per usual..but will make many littleish pies for my family members to take home..instead of just making a bunch of big pies.
I've only made it with saltines, but I'm going to try it using Ritz crackers. I'll top it with sea salt! Yum😊
Oh. My. Gosh. Mouthwatering! Delectable! Okay, before I run out of adjectives, thank you, I'm sending this one to my daughter-in-law, she's always collecting desert recipes. Can't wait!
Yum! I make a similar version w/saltiness. My recipe uses whit sugar & a little more butter but, the brown sugar looks better & thicker. Love the heath bits. Sometimes I use dark chocolate & coconut. Love your saucepan too - the mixtures slides out so easily.
I just went to a party and someone brought the saltine version. I found this while looking for the recipe. This one does look so much better. I can't wait to make this. Thank you!!
Omg girl. Heath is my favorite candy bar. And this is nothing short of Toffey Delight. 😁
Looks absolutely divine!
Looks absolutely delicious!!!
Looks delicious! You do a great job posting directions clearly, which I appreciate! Thanks for another great recipe!
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT, Sally! Happy Holidays!

IF you get some hot caramel on your skin..put it under a cold faucet immediatley OR it WILL keep buring your skin...dont lick it off bc you'll burn your tongue😋
This is by far the best recipe I have seen. I will definitely make this. Thank you so much for sharing it.💜💙
When you asked Alexa to set a timer for 3 minutes, my Alexa responded and set an alarm for 3 minutes!!
You explain very well and your voice is so pleasant and clear.
This looks delish! I will definitely make it!❤
I can't wait to make these cookies...They look delicious and easy to make....
Looks delicious 😋
Thank you for writing the recipe down. Easy and plain understandable instructions. Can't wait to have this recipe. Can testify about the kids and burns. My daughter and her friend, who was overzealous in stirring, got some stirred on her finger. Many years later she has a scar from that.
😅😊l k(oo😊
Put cold yellow mustard over your burn, let set on burn area till mustard hardens then rinse off- no burn, no marks
I’m hypnotized from the stirring stage.👍⭐️👍⭐️
Looks Yummy 😋
2022 addition to my snacks for Christmas Eve. Yum
That looks delicious 😋
Great recipe! Butter and condensed milk works too..❤
I’m going to try this. Your charm adds greatness to them.
That looks so delicious!
These look delicious! I'm definitely going to make this next fall & winter for my family.
You should! Don't wait until fall. Chocolate is good anytime!
Why not make it for them now? They will love you for it.
This recipe is awesome so easy to make and Very Yummy 👩🍳
Nice recipe! Triscuits are great with the sauce, too.
You made this so much easier than other recipes that I’ve seen where they say you need a candy thermometer. Less complicated.
Yum, just yum!!!!!
I saw this on another channel with saltines, but Ritz brings it to a whole other level!!! And the heath! cant wait to try
So good for a quick dessert.
@jane Lee. The butter 🧈 makes all the difference! Not to mention, the chocolate!! RITZ CRACKER COOKIES FOR THE WIN!
Best instructional video I've ever seen for Cookie Crack 💕
Mercy. I look forward to making this for Christmas! Thank you so much!
I plan on giving this a try as soon as I get all the ingredients
This is a popular recipe that I’ve been seeing on different social media platforms. The first recipe that I saw didn’t seem appealing but your recipe looks delicious. Must give this one a try.

Omg... will be a part of my Christmas cookies.....my boys will love this.... shhhhh, so will I.... yummmmmmmm
Can't wait!!
I've made this using saltine crackers, but am eager to try your recipe using Ritz crackers instead since they taste a lot better than saltines. Thanks so much for talking slowly, very clearly and not hurrying too fast. This is going to be my Christmas gift to friends and neighbors this December in pretty holiday tins. By the way, you have such a good manicure! I just subscribed to your channel and look forward to your next video. Have a blessed week.
I LOVE making this but I will try it next time with the Ritz crackers. I do saltine crackers to get more on my sheet pan but this looks awesome. TY for sharing this.
Looks great!
I’m a southern girl too. Love your recipes. Thank you so much for sharing them. God Bless. Linda. 👏👏👏👏🧁🥮🍪

These are so good. I could probably eat the whole pan.
Add chopped nuts pecans, almonds walnuts peanuts yummy! Thank you for sharing this
Love these. Gained 5 lbs one yr. Could not stop enjoying these most delicious addicting treat. Will make them for the holidays. Thanks. Merry Christmas 🎅
Thanks for the great video! I’ve made a similar recipe before but I’m definitely going to try your version. One suggestion for you would be to use an “offset” spatula for spreading the hot ingredients onto the crackers. This will make the job much easier and with a less chance of burning yourself. You can buy them at any place that sells kitchen supplies.
The silicone scraper you get at the dollar store works too.
This looks delicious yummy. Thank you for sharing with us. Love chocolate recipes.
Awesome
Congrats.Yummy I will try this.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

I’m definitely going to try this. I love the heath addition!
Heath candy and pecans are my favorite, you did awesome, thanx for the video ❤️
Looks delicious!!
I loved this! Thanks for explaining it so well.
I followed your directions and made these goodies. My teenage grandson wants the recipe now so I sent him the link (and warned him how dangerous the 'hot lava' is) . I know he'll succeed if he follows your step by step guide. Thanks for this tutorial. (And thanks for leaving in the part where you accidentally dropped the knife onto the mixture and burnt your fingers a bit reaching into the 'hot lava' to retrieve the knife. It's a good reminder to all of us just how dang hot that caramel sauce is!)
Just do your show y’all worry to much about what others think Make it your way Great job
Beth, thanks sooooo much!!!
I agree!!!
Definitely trying this thanks!!
Looks so good gonna try it
Gonna try your recipe! ❤
The silver rivets that hold the handle to the pot look like eyes darting back and forth watching the spoon as it stirs.
Laura, thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe
12/4/22...Funny but strange!

Hi Stephanie. First time seeing your channel. This is the second time I’m seeing this Christmas Crack. Yours is by far much better. I’ve never had this candy/cookie before. Some how I need to save your fantastic instructions. You have a lovely voice, one I could listen to for hours. Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🎄🎄🎄♥️
Just click on the video title and a box will open with the recipe. Then drag your cursor over the recipe, and click the choice to “Copy”. Then go to your notepad or whatever you use to write on on your computer and open a blank document. Place cursor there and click “Paste”, oh by the way both clicks here are right clicks on a computer, and on a phone just paste the copied recipe there. Of course be sure to note who’s recipe!
Awww, Karen! Thanks so much for the feedback and support! Happy Holidays!
@@southerngirlcooksyou can also just click the “save” button and save the whole video for you to have here on RUclips. To find it later if on your iPhone, just click your pick on the bottom right of screen and look for the “folder” name you saved it under (I save this type of video under one I named “Christmas recipes”) then scroll down to this video and hit play. Enjoy!
PS. I recommend trying it with a sleeve of saltine crackers. My family loves this topped with just the chocolate chips and crushed pecans❤
😅
I’m def gonna do this for holidays! TFS -great video!
Got to try this looks so good !
I made this, but I put into cup cake paper. Everyone loved it!
Definitely going to try this
This looks absolutely yummy!! I believe I will try it just like you made it. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you for sharing this. Looks great!!!
Looks great can't wait to try it!!
Thank you. It looks delicious
This is a regular at our Christmas. You can use regular saltines (unsalted) or the toll house crackers in the green box. Similar flavour as ritz but fit nicely as they are rectangle. Cover with 1/2 cup milk choc and 1/2 cup semi sweet chips then put in the oven for 1 min. Melts then spread and top with skor or heath crumbles. Pecans is lovely touch
I never make these and am not a fan of these recipes. They're a mess. I feel they can make a cookie plate look less appealing and there are many other cookie recipes out there that are better. Chocolate and melted brown sugar on crackers? Omg ew! LOL That's just me, though! I'm glad so many people like them but I just can't do it!
@@jimmorrison4ever529 Jim 😂🤣 you crazy dood
@jimmorrison4ever529 I bet if someone just handed you one, you'd eat it!
@@PearlMagnolia you know he would 🤣😂
That sounds good. I think you mean Town House crackers, maybe by Keebler?
I tried these before, sooo good.
Yummy! I'm going to have to try this!
10/23/23, Thank you for this great video. It looks like it will be delicious and a big hit at my house.
