What's with all these tech reviewers dissing the fingerprint scanner? I've used the S8+ since launch and never had a problem with it except when it's laid down flat on the table and I have to use pattern unlock. Heck, I might even prefer it here than in the middle or front since it feels natural to my pointer finger to reach straight for it than to bend and reach for it in the middle. This is blown way out of proportion and most S8/+ users would agree with me.
One25 It's quite funny at this point......the whole fingerprint stuff is just like when the first week the s8 got into reviewers hands and they said it wasn't worth the upgrade from an s7/s7edge. But when they realized that most users strongly disagreed with what they were saying, you had all of them suddenly saying you should definitely upgrade even if you have an s7/s7 edge......heck, even the same thing happened when the s7 came out and at first many reviewers said not to upgrade from the s6 but after viewer feedback, they immediately changed their words.....just give it a while and it'll die down quickly(it already has to an extent) and when they realize most users have no issues then they'll change their words a again.
It's all just personal preference. After using the Pixel primarily since it launched, I prefer the location of the volume buttons and the fingerprint sensor on it vs the S8. I'm not saying you're wrong for preferring the layout on the S8, but it's all the users choice.
Alphaomarni Karnley Jarbie Only people who know that are tech reviewers and people who don't own the phone lol. Almost all S8/+ owners in forums and reddits find it a non-issue.
All these tech RUclipsrs keep saying that the fingerprint scanner is in the worst position, but it is not. Your index finger lands perfectly on the fingerprint scanner when holding the phone. Go to a nearby store and check it out for yourself.
Prasad Karunanethi the s8 yes but not the s8+. it's to tall on the s8+ which makes u stretch ur finger too much n the fact that this thing is sliperry, it's just lucky that it didnt drop while in ur hand 😶
Soldier Knows Best damn you replied to me, that's so cool. I'm like one of your biggest fan bro and I've been subscribed to you since you were at sub 100k. Sorry if I was a little harsh, just got annoyed that nobody mentions that the S8 fingerprint scanner is perfectly fine because the device itself has a smaller footprint. S8+ is a bit of a stretch for most people, but for me it is easy to reach. That's all, by the way keep up the awesome videos bro.
Yongki Siaw haha that's true bro. The S8+ is a bit hard to reach when it comes for the scanner, but for me it was just nice. Maybe that's just me. But the S8 is perfectly fine because the phone is compact. I gotta agree with the slippery-ness, can't wait for my Dbrand dragon skin to arrive.
What happen to you? I grew up with this channel watching all the videos you upload and all of a sudden you went off the grid, hope everything is good, is good to have you back! Cheers !
It's not the *same* camera, they are similarly specced as the S7 though. S8 uses SONY IMX333 or S5K2L2 ISOCELL (as far as I managed to figure out this is pretty random, I've got the ISOCELL one). The S7 has either a ISOCELL S5K2L1 sensor or a Sony IMX260 sensor. Since the S7 the difference between the isocell made and sony made sensor is not that big I'm not that botherd that it comes from two different manufacturers anymore. The S6 was a nightmare though, with different colour measuring etc. From what I understood these are cameras designed by Samsung and then sony/isocell are the ones to make it based on samsungs design/spec of the chip. I can't confirm this though as I lost my reference :( Other than that, great review! Keep it up!
I'm using an iPhone 7 Plus. First "Plus" size for me, surprisingly happy with its size over the smaller iPhones, and I'd find it difficult to go back. Anyway, been using iPhone since the 4, not really given Android phones a second thought. But this new Samsung looks pretty damn good. If there was a phone to get me over to the "other side", then this is it.
How did you manage to get that 'Settings' menu with the 'Quick Shortcut' thing you can edit and the sorted menues on the Galaxy S8? I can't find that on my Galaxy S8+.
Tom-Helge Andersen I think you're talking about apps edge. Swipe from the right side of the screen. Press one of the plus signs or if it's already full remove one and then press the plus sign and add setting shortcut.
I don't have a problem with facial recognition with or without my glasses. try saving your's with glasses then try unlocking without them, if it works then it works for both glasses on and off
Great review! I already got the S8 and im loving it. But I like your desk clock better. If you decide to send it to me in the Philippines, I'd be happy to receive it. :-)
is it me or does anyone feel the amount of subs mkbhd have is what skb could have had if he ain't disappear still two of my favorite tech reviewers glad your back
I've seen many customers buy the S8 over the past weeks and NOT ONE has complained about the fingerprint sensor placement. It just goes to show what the tech community is critical of, most everyday users really don't care.
Have you tried using the finger print scanner to access the notification panel? It's been the feature on Huawei phones before google implemented on the pixel.
Had the opportunity to play with both versions of them. I love how small S8+ feels. Even with 6.2'' screen it feels like I'm holding a 5.5'' screen phone. Sadly, the S8+ is taller so the fingerprint sensor is not as easy to reach as with S8 version. I'll get used to it after a while. I'm planning to take it ASAIC. Now I'm just thinking if I want the S8+ or S8 since S8 feels too small in hand.
You have to check out some of the Korean videos on Bixby voice. It looks so promising. It will give Google Assistant a run for it's money. It is based on contextual programming.
Out of all the reviews i watch this is the best one. I don't like this phone much because there's no home button and the Bixby button is really annoying. The display still red after T-Mobile released the update last week
Nice, detailed review. Regarding the phone, I've been using it for 10 days now, and I don't like it. My observations: •All the biometric scanners are clunky to use. The fingerprint scanner works almost everytime only with the third try. iris scanner is fast but aligning the phone with your eyes isn't. Even face unlock doesn't work in all lighting conditions. •The camera is unable to capture sharply anything which is in motion. A stray cat at my home always comes blurry whenever I try to click her. Faces come out completely weird at the slightest of movements. The effect is as if the soul is leaving the body. Plus it still suffers from the aggressive post processing like the s7. Zooming into photos, a lot of artificial sharpening and detail loss is evident. Overexposed tree leaves in bright sunlight is common. Yes, there is the pro mode but try fiddling with the controls in it. It is super annoying that every time i try to change the ISO or other settings the markers requires such patience and dexterity that the slightest mis-tap results in the mode going off or camera switching to selfie mode. Please try both the moving subject capture and pro mode. You'll see what I'm saying. •The charging tech is still 3 years old. Compared to Oneplus, this flagship phone outputs only 9.0 V and is based on quickcharge 2.0 tech. •There is just no visual consistency to the software. Yes, it is smooth and fast but there's lack of visual consistency. I have a news app which sometimes zooms in to open and sometimes slides from the left. Most apps when scaled look disproportionate and the rounded icons feature destroys the app faces by cutting them. These are minor issues, but I'm quite sensitive to lag and hate inconsistency. I get that Samsung is trying to make the apps look more like those on the iPhone but the app icons on iPhones don't get cut and are more beautiful to look at. There's beauty in symmetry. Not on the s8 plus. •App crashes. For some reason, Instagram and Highway riders apps crash a lot. I had 70+ errors in less than 7 days. Other apps also misbehave at times. Freezing, opening with a lot of weird stutters and frame rate drops, randomly showing the navigation bar while in a game are visual irritants which don't leave a pleasant experience. •Multitasking. The aggressive closing of apps in the background still persists and even light games like temple run and subway surfers don't remain open after having opened four or five other apps. The iPhone kept them open till 15 other apps were not opened and sometimes I had the game stay where I left it even after 2 days. Admittedly these two days did not comprise heavy usage of any sort. Yet, there is no such intelligent background app management with Samsung. If you don't open an app for 6 hours, it will restart no matter how heavy or light your usage has been in the meantime. •There are other minor issues like charging that sometimes stops and I have to constantly look at the phone to see if it is going on. Happened only twice in the last 10 days. Minor point but a great irritant to peace of mind. These have been my observations. When I think that I sold my iPhone to get this, I don't feel happy. It is just not as coherent a device, not as consistent or polished. It just looks beautiful and the one handed usage is slightly better than the 7 plus but I still don't like it due to the above-mentioned reasons. These are, of course, personal observations and they may or may not happen with others. Great review as ever. Keep it up!
Hey Soldier Boy check out Bx Actions it's a remap application in the app store to re-map the bigsby button! you can make the bigsby button operate other applications light torch ect
George6120---- "I've used the S8+ since day one and have never had a problem with the fingerprint sensor. Never really put my finger on the camera either. finger print sensor is not a big problem at all, if you are not comfortable with it, then you can always use iris or face recognition, it seems most of these tech tubers are paranoid, scared to use face recognition, in my s8 i use only face recognition, it's simple and straight to the point.
I have the S8 and find the finger print sensor to be no real problem, i do prefer the sensor on the front not gonna lie. I think the sensor on the front makes the most sense, but with all the other options i don't see a real problem.
Love the phone, the cleanest Samsung phone to date, however I tried three of them, all were plagued with a red tint, uneven colors, the top part of the screen was noticeably more red or warm than the bottom, and ghosting, so I had to return them
My friend hates the fingerprint sensor on the s8, the camera smudges really badly and he wants to return the phone. Not a great experience and far too expensive too.
I use iPhone since 2009 (nothing special, just pure habit) but after a couple of reviews I think I might take a chance and move to Samsung. This phone looks really good!
Left my IPhone 6s for the S8. Never looked back and couldn't be happier.
I like how you think on different situation like the glasses and without scenario and the sleeping bit.
A "Love" from the man himself. I feel honoured Sir!
Great review and great to see you back as well soldier.

One25 why you lying? Samsung doesn't pay you
One25 that's one of the worst places that they could put the fingerprint scanner at everyone knows that
Alphaomarni Karnley Jarbie Only people who know that are tech reviewers and people who don't own the phone lol. Almost all S8/+ owners in forums and reddits find it a non-issue.
Finally! I've been waiting for this review c:

I definitely should've made a note about how the fingerprint location dissatisfaction may be mostly due to the bigger size of the S8+.

Dude I've been watching you for so long, IDK when you started but I remember you, tysiphonehelp, and phone dog we're my go to channels.

Robin James Eric Bond Exactly, now why people say it's the same camera is beyond me.
Robin James Eric Bond All those fancy specs aside, they perform identically. That isnt a bad thing though, the s7's camera is great
I agree :) I have yet to notice any extra detail but I don't do much low light photography with my phone.
I'm using an iPhone 7 Plus. First "Plus" size for me, surprisingly happy with its size over the smaller iPhones, and I'd find it difficult to go back.

Thanks!

You can swipe down on the touch sensor to bring the notification center down as well.
Aj A. how do I turn that setting on
is it me or does anyone feel the amount of subs mkbhd have is what skb could have had if he ain't disappear still two of my favorite tech reviewers glad your back
great vid, sir. got the s8+ with pre order full vr upgrade. pretty sweet deal. love it so far.
I've had no issues with the finger scanner
with this new display how does it handle your palm or fingers on the edge of the display if you're holding it firm with one hand
Wooow... Where were you dude? Great video.. Subscribing now 👍

Hi Soldier,
This is a very quality review. Thanks for this.

Your channel is AWESOME!
is it so hard to samsung to put dual speak on their phones ?
Good review SKB!
Ya it is a perfect flagship phone with a headphone jack
dose yours have light bleed in the dark at top by camera and round the the screen i have 2 replacements now with same thing
Does the Bixby or power button on your phone rattles a little when you wiggle them?
Not for me. If it is for you, I'd say take it in and let the store look at it.
4:20 "I like the fact that they increased the display of the size" 😂
Ooops.
Bro, you are in my city! Do you live here or just visiting? Also, dope vid as always.
the settings app is more compact? Dude, the settings app on your S8 ist the same from Android 6.0 onnthe S7 ... its not the new one with Android 7.0
what the best colours??

Great video my friend!
where can i find that wallpaper u used?
Thanks, this is one of the better reviews!
Get rid of things that doesn't need to be there? As the fingerprint sensor lol?

I went to St Louis not too long ago, would have been nice to go for a coffee or something, Soldier!
How did you like it here in St. Louis?
Soldier Knows Best It was very good! I stayed for a couple of days and never had an issues with things to do, night or day. Very enjoyable trip
Really nice review. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Please do a comparison with S8 and iPhone 7 Plus
what dac use in the S8 ?
BBnose It's a fairly good 32bit DAC, see the review from pocketnow it's more detailed.

These phones are getting more and more expensive by the minute. The iPhone 8 will tip it over the edge.
Honestly no problems with the fingerprint position at all , i don't know why all the reviews are complaining !!!
shout out to Nick in the background "What is you doin baby???"
song?
great video. subbed u right up👌
Lol someone can still unlock your phone when you're sleeping by using your finger 😂
Yea, but they have to physically touch you. One is a little bit easier than the other.
Wish I had one!
great review....again. always like damn bro just slip up from time to time so we know you're human. lol jk
great phone, also the front and back cameras are rocking new sony sensors.
I use iPhone since 2009 (nothing special, just pure habit) but after a couple of reviews I think I might take a chance and move to Samsung. This phone looks really good!
As an owner of an S8, I whole heartedly agree.
i m watching it on s8 are u guys if yes hit like
A good review. 👍🏽
No samsung logo.. feel like I have a google nexus phone
you use to be my favourite reviewer. how come you have so little subscriber compared to the other youtubers.
what about sony xz premium? biased much?
s8 and s8+ is the best perfect phone ever made on the universe till now...
Gif, like Gift without a T, not Jif lol xD
Bro say iphone7+ big for no reason 😂 😂
strange thing is. The s8s camera is actually better than the pixels lol. very weird indeed!
tony okoro what's crazy is no reviewer has said that bro
Dr Dre is that you 0.0
I'm a new Subscriber!
Khxmzi Welcome!
biometrics is useless once cloning becomes available
ahaha "close eyes", need upgrade indeed, nice video
Looking forward to the HTC U 11 next week. I want to go back to HTC.
Samsung nailed it with this phone but the fingerprint sensor next to the camera is a poor choice.
MultiOliver5 it's okay if you have case with a separate cut out. I don't have a problem with my s8
Saint Louis!
Stand up!
S8 best till date
S8 yes upgrading
Now Samsung have beaten apple
hi cane you please send me a phone I'm really beed one please
galaxy s8 best
Facial recognition is not reply lol someone can use your picture as a way to unlock your phone 📱
that's why you just use Iris scanning
thanks for the review. this is not the phone for me.
Dr. Dre
Isn't facial recognition and iris scanner a stupid idea to unlock your phone? Can't people just use a picture of yourself to unlock it?
Rey Marasigan they can't with iris
Rey Marasigan no, because it scans your iris! Pictures won't work
it's a beautiful phone, but I still prefer my windows phone 950
the Samsung Galaxy s8 is Perfect for me the best smartphone
Phone is super cool jus finger print scanner in a bad place
Toya Young It fits for some people it's more of a preference thing
TotallyTaco it's totally a preference thing. Seems to bother small handed people the most. 😆
needs a stylus
