- Judy Garland's classic 1956 album was originally released in mono and is now available in stereo. The highlights included here are Lucky Day, Come Rain Or Come Shine, Last Night When We Were Young, and Anyplace I Hang My Hat Is Home. Music arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle.

She did re-recorded this song in 1960 at the London England Abbey road facility. It is included on the CD "THE LONDON SESSIONS".
Gorgeous recordings. I remember when 'joke ' stereo albums were released by the Readers Digest...by bands like the Glenn Miller orchestra (all recorded in mono, of course).. they put all the lower frequencies in the left channel... highs in the right. Not terribly convincing. But these are extraordinary. How do you get convincing stereo sound from a monophonic original? It's almost sonic sorcery. But I LOVE it.
This album was recorded before the stereo conversion at Capitol records.
There is a new process where they can separate elements of mono recordings and then create true stereo recordings.....sort of
@@BuzzStephens1 Yes,but the quality of the process is inferior to the original recording. The remastered original recording, which was released a few years ago on CD is a very good upgrade.

Where can I get this in stereo? I hear a slight reverb on Judy's voice, but don't hear too much sound separation, except for a bit of percussion and strings in the right speaker. Anyway I think this is her second best studio album behind "That's Entertainment (stereo)" Is a CD form of the stereo version available? thanks Buzz for this - bob in toronto
