Sunrun installed a defective roof on my house. I chased them with emails and phone calls for two years, now they say they won't finish repairing it. I will be out $7000
This is terrible. Sunrun should not have installed solar on your roof if it was in bad shape. I hope you are able to recover some of your costs. Best of Luck.
@MySolarHomeUSA It was actually a SUNRUN ROOF. Sunrun installed a bad roof AND solar at the same time. I did it because you get a 25-year warranty if you do both it's only about 2 years out now and they're trying to avoid me as much as possible. They refuse to repair the roof found another contractor that will do it for nearly $23,000. In this bed doesn't even include all the water damage in my walls and ceiling
Thank You for this valuable information. I find from my research that a properly researched solar panel installation and purchase can be incredibly beneficial. Unfortunately the industry on a whole has turned it into yet another opportunity to sell you a horrible lease or loan that dramatically increases their profits and your total expense just like the auto industry.
Yes, I agree. There are just too many companies and sales people out to gouge and make egregious profits. It is possible to be ethical and provide homeowners with great solar leases that actually save them thousands instead of leading to bad financial consequences later. Thanks for watching and please reach out to me if you are looking to go solar. I am at jon@mysolarhome.us - I have nationwide partnerships with local solar install partners who support my effort to be ethical.
Have you done a pricing calculator on ppa with zero and 3.5% escalator? Its all the same money, the escalator lets you start cheaper. Nobody wants the 0%, the payment is to high.
Unfortunately many solar companies are in the business of making as much money as possible; they tend to lead with the 3.5% escalator PPA. Their prices even with the escalator are usually higher or just a shade lower than the fixed price leases that I offer my customers. And you are correct if you take an escalating PPA that starts with a very low price, it makes a lot of sense. However, the challenge is getting an honest company / sales person who will give you that deal. Thanks and appreciate your comment.
I just purchased a new home at Georgetown,Texas and it's been only 6 months. Pedernal electric is our only Electric provider in my area. My house is under full sun and not surrounded by any trees. My usage is around 140-150 KwH during Jan,Feb'24 with my bill as $140-$150 while in the other months the usages are around 500-700KwH with my electricity bill ranging from $70 - $100 . I want to go solar but will it be a good option now. If yes, then which company will be the best providing solar panels and inverters like REC or Enphase, so that my monthly fixed payment is within $100 always. Would appreciate your kind understanding and guidance.Thank You!
