    Thank you for an excellent PW3 review. I gained a better understanding of TSLA's technology its advantages and concessions. It will be interesting to see how well the TSLA hybrid inverter stands up to 24 hr on-demand performance. I am fussy on the 6 MPPT and thinking of it as having six separate inverters! Can one of the 6 fail and the rest maintain 5/6 functionality or will the inverter fail as a unit? What the failure rates will be, and how well TSLA manages the service and replacement or repair is an unknown. TSLA sells direct to the consumer and contracts out all the work. This is the secret to TSLA's pricing model. The meter collar is simple and impressive innovation. Well done TSLA! It is a safe bet this innovation will be copied by the industry and in time accepted broadly nationwide. How does the PW3 and the meter collar protect the solar array and power electronics from a power surge when the grid comes back on after a grid power interruption scenario? I recall Enphase CEO, Badri mentioned on a recent shareholder earnings call, that Enphase next-gen IQ battery will be smaller with higher charge density, fewer yet more powerful microinverters and have the meter collar option for installation. Oh, and cost less money. We will have to wait for next year to see if Mr. Badri can compete. I think the TSLA PW3 inverter less battery expansion(dumb battery) is a brilliant natural product and service offering.. The DC arc on the roof remains a fire risk does it not? TSLA Solar seems to look past the DC arc fire history. Do you have any data on how the insurance industry prices coverage for DC vs AC on the roof? Ah, maybe I should be writing to your email address ... I seem to be ranting I concur with the others on the back ground music and the bridge collapse. Please keep up the good work. I truly appreciate the education.

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 4 дня назад

      @s.lionelmcauley4455 Thank you very much for that detailed and constructive feedback comment. Reading this gives me oxygen. Thank you again. Re the 6 MPPT and the failure question, my guess is they probably run on isolated circuits and should not all fail at the same time. Unless Tesla has cut costs in design. The meter collar will be slowly adopted - there is adoption from the battery manufacturers and more importantly the utility companies must also approve it. So that will take a while. DC Arc fires are rare and today's installation companies are professional. The subcontractor vs company installer argument is now becoming moot. Most installers have years of experience under their belt and do a very good job. Thanks again and all the best for your solar journey.

    I wouldn't trust Sunrun, based on my experience. They installed a defective roof on my house. I spent two years trying to get them to repair it. They forced me under duress of an open water leak during heavy rains to find my own contractor, because Sunrun claimed they couldn't locate their original contractor who did the work. They also claimed they couldn't find anybody to repair my roof. Can you believe it? So I was forced to use my own contractor and forced to sign a document that Sunrun isn't responsible. Of course the damage to my roof when Sunrun installed it was so extensive that new leaks kept appearing and much of the damage was hard to figure out since the repair people weren't who installed it. So when further repairs were needed Sunrun claimed they weren't responsible and refused to repair the roof any further. Furthermore their last email was unfriendly and seemed hostile, and they made false claims regarding the matter, I believe so they could save the email later as false evidence if they got sued. One false claim they made was that there were no active leaks in the roof, so "therefore they aren't responsible". There are at least two active leaks I'm aware of. The workers who installed the roof didn't speak any English. I couldn't talk to them. I feel pretty sure they were undocumented workers. Are there any Americans who don't speak English? I think that answers the question. One thing to be aware of. Everybody at Sunrun was nice and polite and tried to sound accommodating. But when it came down to responsibility for paying for the roof repair, I felt that they had ulterior motives and their conversations were ultimately strange and not quite right. I felt any friendliness in the end was pretending. Here's what should have happened: I report to Sunrun that their roof is leaking and they simply take care of the entire matter without bothering me and simply arrange a schedule when I can be home to allow the workers in. Instead I have a roof that had been damaged for two years that now needs over $7000 in repairs. No matter how you slice it, Sunrun bent over backwards to not help me, and then they treated me as if I was some rogue criminal off the streets. The last correspondence they sent to me was condescending and accusing. But the reality is they installed a damaged roof and it’s still damaged and they won’t fix it. As if I’m a bad person. That’s how they treated me when it came down to the responsibility of paying. I was completely shocked and horrified. I truly thought they were a legitimate company in the beginning, but now I feel They are extremely risky and can’t be trusted if anything goes wrong. I’m certain they will offer a lot of heartfelt platitudes for a while money enters the picture, and then you’ll know who your friends aren’t!

    Plenty of guessing and speculation, little solid fact. . Do you realise you essentially said that since China controls the Lithium, they will control the supply of Lithium in (High Lithium) Solid State cells? (IF they arrive, and IF they're economically viable) . As for that supply of Lithium.... (Compounds) Australia supplies double the amount of Chile at #2 and almost 3 times the amount of China at #3. . Did you mean CELL production? Or did you mean ACCESS to the material? China is obviously "close" geographically to Australia and has a strong "Belt & Road initiative" link with Chile (Major Sea Port AND Railways under construction) plus now Argentina (at #4!) is joining that initiative with the opportunity to export to China through the same Chilean system. We could even add Bolivia to that list. . It's almost as though China had (has) a multi-decade PLAN to first develop, then use the technology? . Cell/ pack prices are currently way down, in part due to the "Pull-back" by well known major vehicle manufacturers.... Prices may rebound slightly IF those manufacturers return, but they have a problem. IF they try, they would have to negotiate with the country they pulled away from.... that both controls the materials, plus manufactures at least 70% of the cells globally.... . There's a strong possibility that country, rather than negotiating against "Tariffs" would be dealing with their new partners (Formally 3rd world, but rising!) in the colletive mentioned above, who will have Chinese manufacturers building cell factories, vehicle factories and raw material refineries nearby? . They may be "short on capacity" to supply those with openly hostile Governments? . As for Sodium ion cells/ packs, I have little doubt that they will leverage their industry to dominate that segment as well, after all, the storage market is both truly global and HUGE compared to EVs. . I have no doubt they'll use the Solar panels not sold due to those same "Tariffs" to power the factories building the cells?

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 29 дней назад

      Thank you for your knowledgeable analysis. Indeed China is executing on a multi decade plan of domination in production and supply chain consolidation. And they have bets in every sector of not only battery production, but alternative energy sources as well. A formidable competitor.

      @MySolarHomeUSA Месяц назад

      Yes, that is true. However, one thing I have learnt in the last 16 years in solar is that products come and go with great regularity. But the solar panels will last a really long time and it pays to work with inverters that also have staying power. Right now Enphase and Solar Edge have 95% of the market. No on else has broken their hegemony in residential solar. It might happen in the next few years, but for now I stick with these two. Thank you very much for watching and commenting.

      Glad you liked the video. Home Storage is relatively new. Volumes have only started to pick up in the last 2 or 3 years. Electric Vehicle development was driven by one man really - Mr Musk. And the payoffs are immediate and volumes plentiful in the transportation sector. One home storage battery per household vs multiple electric vehicles per household. And the EV batteries are much larger and the profit margins from EV sales are huge. But home storage is getting there, albeit a little slowly.

      Hello Susan, The battery draw down problem happens when you hae a power outage. With the grid being down, the excess PV production has no where to go and hence the problem with Tesla and Franklin. Net Metering would not come into the picture since during a power outage there is no export to the grid as the grid is down. Thanks for watching.

    What you are saying is .. the solar professional will size out a system. let’s say 8kwh he will use real world number and add panels at that level to reach 8 kWh? Correct? And not the marketed wattage sizing.

      Yes the solar professionals size the system based on real world output. So you can rely on that. Hopefully you have a good solar sales professional. Thanks for watching.

    Freight ships may not be able to use solar, but, with auxillary sails, they could cut down fuel use, there by saving fuel and money for actually not that great of an investment of having automated auxillary sails on the ships.

    what happens after 20 years from now when we have a billion solar panels that needs to be recycled ? As far as I know we don't have a good way to do that at least today. And how much minerals do we have available on earth to make solar panels ? Don't miss understand me, I got solar panels my self, and I really like it, but can we keep on making them in large scale over long time without having a problem later ?

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 2 месяца назад

      You make an excellent point. Recycling Solar Panels is one of the fastest growing areas in the ancilliary solar sector. There are a no. of large companies creating facilities to recycle panels and get them back into the manufacturing cycle. The enormous growth potential is drawing huge pools of investment. I believe we should be in a much better place in another 20 years. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    So what if you paint the roof white under the panel to reduce temperature and increase reflection for double sided panels?

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 2 месяца назад

      Bifacial panels work better on ground mounts or flat roof ballasted mounts.. Rooftop bifacial performance is not great as the panels are flush against the roof and there is very little reflection back to the panels. Stick to residential panels for regular roofs. Thanks for watching.

    No, I don’t think so. Right now the industry ,technology of all products is changing, more offerings and better equipment so next year when the new equipment comes out, why would I buy last year‘s equipment even if it was cheap why ? not me. Most countries with Solar use the larger 450 to 600 W panels and equipment. And it’s coming in the next few years to us . see more change.

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 2 месяца назад

      I agree using the latest tech is the best. In solar the tech does not change that fast and last years tech might still be the best this year as well. Re the 450 to 600 watt panels - those are actually commercial grade panels - the are much larger than the residential panels and not suitable for use on our roofs. The most efficient residential panel we have today is the REC 470. I expect we will see some more panels in that range next year. Thank you.

    I have a House in Mexico and the problem is that the Grid power is such poor quality ( between 240 volts and 265 volts) I had to switch from a Old Sunnyboy to a New Fronius Primo that will still sell/push power into the grid up to 270 volts. What is the voltage range that the TPW3 will still connect to the local grid? Thank you for your information!

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 2 месяца назад

      Hey Kevin, That is a difficult question to answer. Solar and Batteries are programmed to work with higher than 240 volts, but no one discloses the exact tolerance in specs. I am not sure if Tesla sells the Powerwall 3 in Mexico - but if they do, they will be able to answer the voltage question with authority. Alternatively, you can call Tesla in the US and try your luck. But be prepared for some time on the phone. Best of Luck. Jon

    I am not going to install battery. Just want to install solar my roof. I have lot third party vendors in my area who install enphase micro inverter + q cell. But enphase doesnt install solar. On the other end Tesla directly install solar system but they use string inveter but they are well known company and would be there to support in future. These vendors not sure whether they will in business for more time or not. Then what will happen in case any support required. Can i directly call enphase. Should i go with tesla as my roof is east and west facing. I have requirment of 22 panels. I can install all of them in East side. But i can only install 10 panel in west side. Should i install panel in east and west both side or just east side is fine ?

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 3 месяца назад

      @GauravJain-qc2ux You can work with either Tesla or a large nationwide solar installer - they are usually reliable. Doing panels on the East only is OK - only if its exactly east west. If you share your address on email I could check that for you. And let me know if you would like a quote for just an Enphase system. Email me at jon@mysolarhome.us Thanks for watching and your comment.

    Gedankenexperiment....in an off grid scenario w/o solar and only a PW3, what happens if your whole home backup draws more than 48 amps? Extrapolation.... say we have a PW3 and go off grid while a Teala model Y is charging at 48 amps. Would energy simply flow from the PW3 to the Model Y through the backed up Tesla wall charger? Or does the PW3 somehow communicate to the charger to quit?

    • @MySolarHomeUSA
      @MySolarHomeUSA 3 месяца назад

      To your question about the Powerwall 3 charging the CyberTruck (Congratulations !!!). Yes if you are out of home and your Powerwall 3 is on whole home backup mode - and that is the current configuration as far as I know, then it will start charging the Truck and go kaput in a couple of hours. Re Powerwall 3 working with Enphase - Tesla did tell me that they are working on launching an AC couple version towards the end of the year. I would make sure your solar installer actually has an AC coupled Tesla Powerwall 3. BIG CAVEAT - if you do Powerwall 3 with Enphase, you are wasting a lot of money. Thats because the Powerwall 3 has an inverter to take care of the panels and the battery. Now with Enphase the Tesla solar panel inverter will remain idle, unused and you would have paid for it. Either go all the way Enphase or all the way Tesla is my advise. I personally think its not going to be too big a difference in energy output as long as you have a couple of big arrays. Keep me in the loop and send a picture with you and the CyberTruck to jon@mysolarhome.us Thanks
