The problem with asking an evil person how they solved a problem is that the methods they used aren't very likely to be useful to a good person. E.g.: you can ask Hitler how to resolve tensions in a multi-ethnic, multi-religious nation, but you're not going to like the answer, and you're certainly not going to want to implement it.
The main problem was that the Doctor and Bill asked Missy the wrong question: "How did you defeat the Monks." What they really wanted the answer to is "How can we defeat the Monks," which is not the same set of parameters at all. Which Missy promptly demonstrates via her answer.

P.S.: OKAY, this beautiful yet cheeky Timelady had, in return for her answers/ideas/help, some little somewhat "girly" sounding wishes to deal with her loneliness and boredom...

Her own spinoff would be a horror show. But she would be stylish about it, setting up cascade problems, and destroying whole populations in the process. Whisper in the right ear of someone "Don't you want to walk", and that person walks for the rest of their life. Get them to repeat that phrase, so anyone hearing it wants to walk too, and repeat the phrase as well. Then the planet shows the walking people on TV, saying that phrase, and other people start to walk. A bit more direct than "Don't you think she looks ill", but far more lethal.

I don't think it's controversial to say that Capaldi and Gomez absolutely make the best Doctor/Master duo. They're both incredible on their own, AND the relationship between them is so complex and fun to watch. Missy truly makes you want her to change and be a good person. And when she eventually _tries_ to, only to be literally thwarted by her own past catching up to her... it's a little heartbreaking.

Why do I feel like we were denied a spectacular ending to the monks story? Imagine if 12 was actually under the control of the Monks (or couldn’t free himself) and Nardole (with no other choice) had to free Missy and get her help. Then we could see that she has actually changed somewhat and is willing to save the Doctor and the Earth, but has to grapple with doing to things her way (the easy way: killing Bill) or how the Doctor would approve. The conclusion we got to the monks was just so disappointing considering all the amazing setup. Plus this would have eased nicely into the second half of series 10 with the focus being on Missy’s change.

Haha this is more a insane, megalomaniac, narcissistic evil genius of a strong woman!
I don't think missy is a reasonable baseline for women in fiction. Although having even 1/10th of her character and swagger would be welcome in 2020s DW. Every character in this series all added together don't come near to gomez or capaldi's portrayals. The new master was quite good but he has very little to work with; when you watch old clips and compare the dialogue the drop in quality stands out massively. I miss when the lines weren't all interchangable due to nobody actually having any personality.

@@cpf6125 This is how you make a beloved character female and keep them amazing.
As you stated, Missy is all those things and incredibly funny, in depth and uses her femininity in order to gain an advantage/for comedic effect. It's honestly wonderful to behold.
Whereas the new Doctor is literally a copy paste of Tennant and Smith mashed together with none of the depth. She doesn't even lean into any feminine traits, she's just... bland.
If they were going to make a change on this scale to make a statement about how powerful women could be, rather than write trash politically charge plot dumps, make her character lean into those traits that would be common on a female and use them to control and win a situation.
Missy is prime example of a strong female character that is strong and funny and terrifying, all while not even needing to try justify why she is a woman. The new series could've taken a large scoop of her.
