Thank all three of you for this podcast. These deep dives into the theology of The Book of Mormon, the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the Plan of Redemption, Jehovah as the Eternal God, and my need to repent are heart, mind and soul expanding. My testimony is strengthened and my faith increased because of your teachings.

I rarely ever comment on a podcast. But the story of the eight souls that the bishop mentioned. Being the mother of multiple children that have left the church, it would be my hope that some of those people in the ward who were touched by the goal, who may be prior to that goal had felt left out, and now felt part of something bigger than they were, maybe they were the ones that were converted. and being converted, perhaps their children would have an opportunity to grow up in the church

Oh my-I needed your comment, as I feel the same way you do. A majority of my children have also left the church. Thank you for sharing. ♥️

And perhaps there were 8 special people on the other side of the veil that needed and wanted and were waiting for their temple work to be done for them. Perhaps this bishop was also gathering Israel on both sides 😊
Isn't it wonderful that the gathering can take on so many facets of the work?

This is my favorite Podcast so far this year and considering the speakers we’ve had that’s saying something Please bring back Dr Sharp on literally any subject the way he broke down the scriptures and really challenged my mind on the plan of redemption is gold. The conversation about the nature of God and who God is by titles and names is foundational my pulse is actually fast as I make this comment it can be a little murky about the “Godhead” in the Book of Mormon if you don’t slow down and read the words with emphasis instead of zipping through the stories as I’ve been want to do on most occasions so much of Alma, Amulek, and Zeezrom are in previous and future chapters in Alma I’ll have to take notes to catch all of the entries. Thank You for this guest who will have forever changed my soul

I'm not sure if Dr. Sharp will read this but if he does, I want him to know he took me back to the days of Glenwood and Fish and the Newts! "We gotta get out more!" I love the memories, Dan!
But seriously, this is a great episode and I really enjoyed Dr. Sharp's teaching. Very insightful and gave me much to ponder and expand with my personal study. Thank you!

Wow. I had never realized that Jesus first taught the Nephites to pray to the Father (who only prayed to Jehovah before) in 3 Nephi and that all these references to God do not include reference to the Father but are different names for Christ. I have read and listened to these scriptures who knows how many times, and I have wondered and prayed and sought understanding on these fine distinctions for years. These explanations really helped clear up the murkiness remaining for me. Thank you so much, Dr. Sharp!!! I see many others in the comments reporting they feel similarly blessed and enlightened by your clear and obviously carefully won insights over many years. Thank you!!

This is my third comment. I'm writing these as I'm still watching the episode. (Almost to the end now!) Your point that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is part and the completion of His Atonement - Resurrection and Atonement are not separate - is beautiful and needed. While I may have come to this conclusion already in recent years, I think it is not usually articulated, and the two are very, very often separated (and thus misunderstood) - even in my own thinking. Wow! The way you attached it to President Nelson's injunction not to separate Atonement from Jesus Christ! Mind-blowing. You have given me a fuller understanding, and I will not forget it!

I love everything that was taught. I am blown away weekly by the gift of knowledge I receive from your guests. Just an FYI: Doing a Scripture Citation Index search of “plan of redemption” I found there are actually 7 instances of this phrase in Alma 12 and 17 altogether in the Book of Mormon. I do love the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

I have listened to this episode twice and reviewed the transcript. Dr. Sharp's comments about the Law of Moses and whom the Nephites worshipped might be a little confusing. I believe the clearest scripture on this subject is Jacob 4:5 which reads "Behold, they (all the holy prophets who were before us) believed in Christ and worshipped the Father in his name, and also we worship the Father in his name. For this intent we keep the law of Moses, it pointing our souls to him; ..." This is a truth lost from the Bible, i.e. that ancient prophets and saints, including the Nephite saints, worshipped God, the Father, in the name of Christ, even as they kept the law of Moses. This truth was also lost in ancient Israel leading to the coming of Jesus Christ. This is one of the many ways in which the Book of Mormon restores truths lost from the Bible. Thanks so much for your good work! We are most grateful! Richard Boyer, Holladay, UT

Very interesting guest. I was interested in the story of Amulek . I got the impression that at on time, with the history of his ancestors that he himself tells, that he knew, in Alma 10:5-7, of the mysteries and marvelous power of prophets since he was a boy but Amulek does admit he hardened his heart many times and I would not hear. I think he finally recognized his errors after seeing an angel and spending time with Alma, etc. Just thought Amulek didn't get enough credit for being a good man underneath all that "Nehorite" instruction. Loved the discussion. Thank you.

I really enjoyed the insights regarding Christ as Jehovah and the probability that the 3 titles used in Alma 11:44 refer to Christ Himself “(the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God”)
I’m wondering if Dr. Sharp has a comment on the phrase Jacob used in Jacob 4:5 that “they believed in Christ and worshiped the Father in his name, and also we worship the Father in his name.”
I understand that verse to refer to God The Father, The Architect of The Plan Iof Salvation and The Father of our Spirits.
Thank you for to the hosts Hank & John and Dr. Sharp

If Nephites had creation and Fall stories from brass plates surely they would have been aware of Elohim? Not knowing of him until Christ came and said, “pray to the Father in my name” seems odd to me. I agree the BOf M emphasis is on Jehovah of the OT and Christ who will come being the same God but why would he be called the Son of God if there was no Elohim?

With the destruction of Ammonihah, I don't think that the Lord deliberately destroyed it because they were wicked. I think that the Lord, over and over again, tried to warn them because He knew it was coming. He couldn't stop the inevitable destruction because He honors EVERYONE'S free agency, but he couldn't force the wicked in Ammonihah to listen, either.
