My aunt had a 1963 Rambler until she died in 1993. Though it rusted away she never had a problem with it other than the usual maintenance stuff, brakes tires exhaust. It ran great. I wish I had asked my cousins for it.

My parents had a '63 and '65. Both were trouble free. I had the impression that the '63 had a better build quality, and that's the year Rambler won MT's Car of the Year.

Given the much more "sexy" competition in 1965, especially from GM, you had to be a pretty dedicated AMC fan to spend your hard earned money on one of these.

Besides the GM intermediates, the Mustang was in the price ballpark.

I have one of those '65 Rambler Classic sedan promo models. It's pale yellow and I think the coloring seeped into the Bare-Metal Foil on the chrome trim and yellowed it, something I've never seen in decades of car modelling.

I remember my grandmother's Rambler in '67. I think it was a '63. Four doors, and engine and a bench seat. Nothing else. I think it is telling in the presentation that they use a 1961 Valiant, Comet & Fairlane as the typical vehicles that the customer is trading in. Probably didn't get a lot of Cadillac, Town Car or Imperial customers thinking about buying a Rambler.

Its all about manipulating and controlling the customer! Like playing pool, you control the q ball you control the sale!
