- HPFP Failure happened the day I decided to swap it out. I thought I was doing preventative maintenance, but I ended up reacting to it lol.

I know this is a slightly older video but what were your symptoms that led u to believe it was your hpfp, because I have the same car and I’m having some fueling issues and I’m having trouble figuring out what it could be
Since I was tuned I had MHD show my STFT% being super high and low which is an indicator that the HPFP is going out. I had very hard shifts happen, almost like a manual car that you would clutch dump every shift, and lastly at the very end the car would die or be super slow. Also you have a German code pop up that says fuel injection pressure too low
Had an issue where my 135i shut off on a small decline. Didn’t stall but rather just gradually the rpms went to 0. It took a couple tries to get the car into D1 since it would shut off quickly after turning on again. I’m hoping it’s an easy fix
Was this when it was half empty? Quarter tank? Or was it just randomly? Maybe even every 30 mins from when cold?
@@adrianmejia3302 It was within 10 minutes after filling from a quarter to 3/4.
@Tomatodog-cm6fh so unless your car is taking forever to start up on cold starts or throwing a CEL related to fuel it may be your HPFP or maybe even your EKP. I had a similar issue but it was my Valvetronic motor
@@adrianmejia3302 interesting. Starts up quickly and no CELs either. It could have been a one time thing. Mines a dual clutch and someone said that it’s possible that it could’ve “forgotten” to downshift and the RPMs just fell off.
@Tomatodog-cm6fh easiest solution is to do a rest to your trans computer. I did this a while back. But never faced that sort of issue. I did mine since it would stay stuck when turning off my car before pressing the P. Also can you log your fuel psi? To see if there are significant drops?
Could you tell me what codes you got? I think my hpfp went bad but I'm not sure
so my codes were at start up that would just say "injector pressure too low" and my car wouldnt shift correctly, it would slam the gear and then eventually went to limp mode.
What mileage did your HPFP go bad?
107k miles give or take
@Adrian Mejia Thanks for the quick response. My car is at 120k miles but I dont know if the HPFP been changed. I'm having a rough startup, no codes. Any idea?
@@carcrazyguysa4059 it could be many things but if you have a scanner and see a low fuel pressure as a shadow code it would be a good indication that your HPFP or injectors are going bad. Some signs of bad injectors is long cranks and lots of fuel odor at start up. For HPFP one issue I had was when in sport mode the shifts would hit hard. As in a short pause then it would make a violent shift.
What brand hpfp ?
ECS Tuning Remanufactured
@@adrianmejia3302 ok thanks . The remanufactured pumps are back ordered. It sucks
It’s difficult to find them in stock that’s why I had to continuously check on FCP euro and ECS
@@adrianmejia3302 I’m not getting any fuel to my rail . I Changed the low pressure pump . Hopefully the HPFP is the problem . P142e P0087 .
Could be your HPFP, check your fuel rail high pressure sensor. And maybe your FPR. I replaced all of my fuel system even injectors since it’s best to replace it all at once
