    Here is a little theory, during the bloody war where Shiekah where killed and tortured in the shadow temple, I believe that severing the hands of was a means of torture/punishment for the rebellious Shiekah. Those cursed hands became the enemies known as wall masters and floor masters. The mini boss dead hand has two bloody stubs for hands and attacks you by using multiple hands that spring up from the ground. The boss Bongo bongo is also seen to posses severed hands.

      +RickyBBlessed I think that the Sheikah who were tortured and killed in the Shadow Temple were only those who followed Bongo Bongo. It's unknown when Kakariko Village was founded, but it wasn't until _after_ the Hyrulian Civil War that it was opened to the public by Impa. The Sheikah were the Goddess' chosen people and used holy magic - not dark magic - and created relics such as the Mask of Truth and the Hero's Charm. During the time before Kakariko was opened to the public, however, a sorcerer named Bongo Bongo and his followers began practicing dark magic instead, creating relics such as the Fused Shadows, Majora's Mask, and the Eye of Truth and began torturing people in the catacombs beneath his house and the graveyard (what became the Shadow Temple and Beneath the Well) for information on Hyrule and the royal family. Bongo Bongo used the Eye of Truth - a perverted and dark imitation of the mask of Truth - to torture his victims by gazing into their minds and seeing past any lie or illusion. Soon after, the Interlopers (Bongo Bongo and his followers) invaded Hyrule in an attempt to steal the Triforce through dark magic but were thwarted by the Gods and the Light Spirits and were banished to the Shadow Realm. Bongo Bongo, however, and those who hadn't been banished were captured - here's where your theory about the dismemberment comes into play - and then tortured and put to death in what became the Shadow Temple.
      Bongo Bongo's house was torn down and a well was put in its place (nasty, right?) but the evil within the Shadow Temple and the catacombs beneath the well endured, manifesting itself as zombies (ReDeads, Gibdos, Stalfos), Dead Hands, Wallmasters and Floor Masters, and Blue Bubbles, with Bongo Bongo's soul manifesting itself as a giant evil spirit. Impa entered the well to try to stop Bongo Bongo and seal him in again, but she was quickly overpowered and killed before awakening as the Sage of Shadow. The Shadow Temple has always been one of my favorite parts of the game.

      +RickyBBlessed i thought the same thing! i have a little theory also, poes are and embodiment of extreme emotion, kinda like spirits that cant move on, the poes in the grave yard barely notice you because they are just lingering souls, but the big poes in hyrule field Attack and surround you relentlessly trying to kill you, they do this because you resemble a knight, and while on horseback, they flee in terror as if they're begging " no, stop!" because thats probably what you would do if you had a horseman chasing you down. also the locations are peculiar. for example they are all places where a mass murder could have taken place ( you can find them near rivers for drowning, trees for hanging and cliffs for simmple cruelty), while a normal poe is just a restless soul. big poes are Lots of concentrated souls that died horrible terrifying deaths and seek pure revenge against those who wronged them,

    I just love how every wall texture in legend of zelda game hints at various elements of its lore. So much thought goes into the landscape design that every wall tells a story, unlike most games where a wall is just a plain wall, or if it does have a pattern on it it's just a stock pattern that has no relevance and will never be built upon. I don't know how Aonuma manages to get every single texture artist, lyricist, story boarder and every other employee to convey such a detailed lore with hardly any inconsistencies (in fact there are none that I can think of). It really lifts the legend of zelda above your standard games and maintains it in its status as one of the greatest game series of all time.

      To an extent, couldn't that be considered slavery?
      could be an interesting story, a Sheikah who doesn't want the burden of being 'some spoiled brat's guardian' because she happened to be of the royal family. I have a feeling that despite the culture of service, there would be many, other than the Sheikah Rebellion, that would not want the exist to be someone else's servant.

    You guys really should title this video as a theory considering that a lot of what is being said in it isn't factual and is very speculative.
    Some people will think this is canon information unfortunately.
    Things like Bongo Bongo being a wizard is pretty much nothing more then fanfic, but when you present this video like you are giving a history lesson about the Zelda series it just perpetrates false information.
    The cold hard truth is this. We know little about the Sheikah. Their presence in the Zelda titles is usually reduced to a single character (normally Impa). Trying to deduce the entire culture surrounding the race based on only one character is hardly enough to say things like "The Sheikah were militaristic". I mean look at Impaz in Twilight Princess. Hardly a warrior. Or what about Impa from the downfall timeline? Presented more as a maid then a warrior.
    Also things like the Dark Interlopers being "Sheikah" is incredibly hard to prove. In fact the Dark Interlopers could've even been a conglomerate group that wasn't exclusive to one race (but over time of being banished to the Twilight Realm all began to look the same and develop into an individualistic race of it's own).
    It's fascinating to watch... but there is a LOT of fluff that is pulled out of thin air that isn't supported in game. I mean come on... the Sheikah and Gerudo made an alliance against the Hylians?
    All the Sheikah we have ever been introduced to in the Zelda series have always been absolutely loyal. Always dedicated to the Goddess Hylia and her cause. They simply have always worked from the shadows, and more or less lived in the shadows of it's royalty (more likely then not this is why they are called Shadow Folk). Anyway seriously though... video's like this are great, and very professional in their presentation, but that in itself lies the problem.
    This is all very speculative and really nothing more then a theory, and eager fans should be made aware of this.

      I see, well you did a fantastic job with this! Especially with some of the rarer lore, I had never thought to look in official player's guide for such, it shows your breadth of sources, great work!

    • @the_maverickk
      @the_maverickk 9 лет назад +2

      Commonwealth realm Nope... never said Theory when I watched it and that's really what it should say.
      Cause a lot of this really is nothing more then fanfic. Again it will likely be taken as true by some fans.

    • @the_maverickk
      @the_maverickk 9 лет назад +2

      HighPriestFuneral You do know that the player's guides weren't written by Nintendo (or Miyamoto or Aonuma for that matter) right?
      It was for the most part flavor text that was concocted by NOA just to put some extra flair into their guides.
      Not to mention that there is contradicting explanations in Hyrule Historia. For example the Sheikah were the Shadow Folk even before they came to Kakariko.
      In fact Kakariko was the Sheikah's 'ancestral village'. Meaning it was in fact their home land even before the events of Ocarina of Time. They never threw out the Gerudo according to Hyrule Historia.
      Also the 'blood stained history' of Hyrule is likely referring to the curse left by Demise for Link and Zelda's descendants to forever wander a blood-soaked sea of darkness for all time. The curse that they would forever become caught up in conflicts.
      The dead of the Shadow Temple are likely those who died over the centuries as a result of battles against Demise's monsters and other beings. When Link arrives at the Shadow Temple in Ocarina of Time it's very likely that all the evil beings we see aren't the original buried dead but in fact the result of Ganondorf's twisted magic (similar to how the Forest Temple had been tainted and the Water Temple as well).
      There's also the fact that the Sheikah may have never flourished because of their given nature as servants to the goddess Hylia. They were renowned for putting themselves in harms way to protect the Royal Family and it's likely that over the centuries their numbers dwindled because of their role as protectors in the shadows.
      Also again I always hate that people say that the Dark Interlopers were the Sheikah just because of the eye on the Fused Shadow. Despite the fact that other villains have also been shown to wear a symbol that is similarl. For example Vaati in the Minish Cap. Vaati's Wrath has a similar eye with three lashes... despite being Piccori and using Piccori magic.
      In the world of Zelda eyes with three lashes aren't an indicator of being Sheikah. It requires the tear in the symbol in order to be a reference to them.
      Anyway... just very selective lore bits in the video that are fluffed up.

      I wonder what happened to the Mogmas after Skyward Sword.

    • @warioland523
      @warioland523 9 лет назад +4

      +J Nicolosi Since Minish Cap takes place after Skyward Sword my guess is that they became Acro Bandits. Now you are probably wondering why they de-evolved into such low life scum monsters that were trapped in a chest then served Vaati after he freed them along with the rest. Well it's quite simple. The moles in Minish Cap are labeled as bandits and bandits as we all know are basically low life criminals that are greedy and steal things. The dominant trait of a Mogma is their greed. They were always after treasure. Heck the Thrill Digger guy was basically running a scam operation where the prize for beating his hardest and most expensive course was of all things a Blue Bird Feather. My guess is overtime as the races became more settled in and a kingdom was steadily being established the Gorons came to Eldin seeking to establish their own kingdom. Of course the Mogmas did not like the prospect of living with another tribe as this would mean having to share their resources and treasures. This resulted in tensions between the two. The Gorons won and the Mogmas lost and they had to resort to common thievery becoming criminals and were eventually locked away along with other criminal scum before Vaati freed them all. They were unable to adapt however and died out completely some time after Minish Cap since Acro Bandits aren't seen in any other game either that or they were destroyed along with the other chest monsters which served under Vaati's rule when Zelda made her wish with the hat.

    I think that it is kind of incorrect to think the Sheikah get entirely destroyed, instead there seems to be people who pop up who seem like remnants of the tribe, like the fortune teller, and perhaps the Happy Mask Salesman himself was a member. With the Gossip stones it makes me think that perhaps the Sheikah do try and do duties in the shadow, not getting noticed.

    Only issue now is that they did not die out in the Child timeline after Twilight Princess, we learn this in the newest game with its placement at the end of the Child Timeline. We see a new Impa and a new town of Shiekah in Breath of the Wild, which takes place 10,000 years after Twilight. So the race must have been spared extinction. Of course this video was made under two years ago, long before Breath of the Wild had come out.

  • @TerrapeneOrnata
    @TerrapeneOrnata 9 лет назад

    I've got a theory in mind. It's far from finished but I'll give out some of the details. It involves the new Zelda game for Wii U. This data is based mainly from Twilight Princess and the game trailer and gameplay footage shown of the new game. First of all, I always found it strange that the bridge of hylia shows up in the gameplay footage. The structure is not found in any other game but twilight princess. Before I lose your interest let me tell you this is more that just a generic "This next game is a prequel to TP" theory. That aside, I started replaying TP to see if I could find any more evidence to said time placement of the game, and came across a couple strange things. One: the Heros shade holds what seems to be the same shield (or one with the same symbol) a the shield that Link has in the new game for Wii u. Hyrule Hystoria already confirms that the Heros shade is The Hero of Time. This made me excited, because I recalled the hinting at HMS being in the new game and realized that maybe, just maybe we will see the hero of time in this new game. And who knows, maybe play as him! But then I realized that the link in the trailer is right handed as the hero of time is left. So that debunks us being him. Still I feel that this game is a prequel to TP but I'm confused on what all this could mean... Maybe this link is a descendant of the hero of time and now owns the shield he died with. I really don't know yet. Let me know what you make of my evidence and/or if you have any to support or debunk what I have so far.

    you guys forgot to mention the Sheikah in Termina! And their possible connection between the Ancient Tribe of Majora's Mask and the Fused Shadow of the Twili. Zant resembles the Garo who are in the Stone Tower Temple. There's a lot there you should mention.

    May I mention that the sheikah fighting against the royal family and all that might be the Yiga(?) clan from breath of the wild? I mean, they wear masks with the sheikah symbol, they've been looking for Link for over a hundred years, and they tried to kill Zelda in one of the memories, which probably has to be the biggest evidence in the game!

    When it comes to this Theory am I one of the only people that decided to think about it really and realized that midna when she's not in her imp form does very closely resemble Impa from Skyward Sword...same eyes same build somewhat, both about the same height....to say they are one in the same could be very true as they do share common design choices

    Here's a question;
    When looking at Bongo Bongo, it's clear that he's hanging from his feet. This is very reminiscent of the Hanged Man, an Arcana of the Tarot. It symbolises regret of someones actions, and the wish to right their wrongs. Maybe Bongo Bongo regrets his past actions as it caused a near genocide of the people he wanted to protect, eventually resulting in the extincion of the Sheikah.

    I think Zelda U will take place in a new fourth branch in the timeline, where the Sheikah tribe still exist, and Link is most likely eccepted and raised by that Sheikah. During Zelda U gameplay, Link is clearly wearing clothes that seem to be similar to the clothes worn by the Sheika, and in almost all zelda games the Link in each one are living in different areas connected to different cultures. I believe, in Zelda U, Link will start off in a area inhabited by Sheika descendants!

    that was a mogma at the beginning. there is one thing though. the eye symbol pattern was said to get the tear after a great betrayal, so the betrayal must have happened before the or during the age of Hylia. you can plainly see a tear on Skyward Sword Impa's face. that is a theory i keep thinking of. Feels like something is out of place because of that.

    24:00 10,000 years would pass since the end of Ocarina . And as Hyrule grew, so too did the remainder of the Sheikah within the adult timeline. Through the blending of races (presumably between the Hylians and Sheikah,) the Modern Sheikah tribes would thrive. In Breath of the Wild.

    in Four Swords Adventures... the White Maiden is a Sheikah.
    she has white hair
    she is the Maiden of Kakariko Village
    she is also the Maiden of the Temple Of Darkness... which is a tower north of the desert... that has a dark mirror... that was used to seal a dark tribe... Four Swords Adventures is the sequel to Twilight Princess... the Temple of Darkness is the Arbiter's Grounds... the Dark Mirror is the Mirror Of Twilight somehow put back together... and the Twili are Sheikah descendents... so they put a Sheikah in charge of guarding the mirror.
    she's also over the Forest of Light (Forest of Dark when corrupted)...
    no Maiden is more forest based then her... so this Sheikah maiden is, oddly, the sage of forest.
    yes, she is over the forest of LIGHT, BUT since the Green Maiden is over Hyrule Castle, the Green Maiden is the sage of light.
    also, the Yellow maiden has red eyes. Not 100% that she's Sheikah. She is over Death Mountain, which is where Kakariko Village was in Twilight Princess & OoT... but also where the sage of fire traditionally is... maybe the fact that she is the sage of fire is what makes her eyes red... like fire... instead of like Sheikah... or both... idk... a bit iffy at best.
    yellow hair instead of white was seen on Fanadi in TP... although that could have been a wig or hair dye.
    also, the Blue Maiden has a significant village closer to the OoT location of Kakariko... and the Eastern Temple is fairly dark and shadowy and could make her the new sage of shadow... since the White Maiden is the sage of forest.
    but blue hair instead of white is new... but if the hair can be yellow, why not blue?
    Impa's hair is always white, and old people's hair is always white...
    we haven't seen enough young Sheikah to know for certain that all Sheikah have white hair always.
    and her eyes aren't red, but also she is a sprite and we never got official art... so she could have red eyes, just not as obvious as the Yellow Maiden.

    I'm surprised you mentioned nothing of Agahnim in the Fallen Timeline. If Link indeed failed as the Hero of TIme and Ganondorf was successful in his plans. Then maybe the ties with the Gerudo and the Sheikah were tight enough that some members outside other then Impa survived.

    With the new video about the BotW backstory (on Zeltik's channel) in mind: what if the Sheikah didn't split in two groups after SS but here the events of BotW come in and they were banished because the Guardians and everything turned against the people of Hyrule? So BotW is between SS and OoT but by the time of the events in Oot almost all traces of the Sheikah Technology are gone!?

    I don't think that all the Sheikah are gone (or twili) in TP. Impaz says that before the town was taken over by the Bulbin, that 'the others' escaped. Since the town was forgotten it doesn't seem like Hylians were chilling with her there, and I don't think she meant her cats

  • @America20

    And so if it wasn't for the Sheika the Gerudo would never had joined the war. Gannondorf would probably had been raised a loyalist of the Hyrulian empire, and more then likely had been a student under the King of Hyrule and learned his dark arts from the sisters and may just had been a lesser of two evils and could had possibly reunited Hyrule and the Sheikah........after the first stage of war.

  • @Prince_Smugarina
    @Prince_Smugarina 7 лет назад

    This story has a few problems. Namely that Humans and Hylians are not the same. Hylians, like Link and Zelda are elven, with pointed ears. Sheikah are practically Hylians with piercing red eyes. There are actual humans, with rounded ears, they do actually exist.
    Its theorized in some circles that Zelda's mother is of the Sheikah tribe, which is why she was capable of utilizing her alter-ego Sheik.
    Basically, before anyone says anything about inter-breeding. That humans and any elf races have the same amount of chromosomes, being both humanoid and their differences easily expressed by basic genetics, nothing too improbable. Beyond that, Hyllians generally live well away from actual human settlements, such as Humans living in the Faron woods, and Link being the sole Hylian.

    i love these intricate dives into lore, and your's are always one of the most thoughtful i've seen. i hope you will continue these as well as speculation on zelda wii u (when more evidence pops up. i know it's a dry well atm).
    however i have a few points of criticism. it seems like the sheikah civil war and the sheikah massacre you've laid out conflict with the events we know that transpired in games, at least logically.
    the sheikah split between loyalists and insurgents seems likely, given the events of twilight, but it seems like there is little reason for multiple kakarikos to exist simultaneously as you claim. the insurgents were seeking the triforce, and masquerading as hylians as depicted in the surreal nightmare lanayru showed in their attempt to seize it. they would have no reason to openly war with the sheikah at that time, or divide their territories. in fact, up until they claimed the triforce forcibly by using the fused shadows, it is likely they fought very little, only if someone found out or as needed. once they were exposed and the triforce and shadows lay beyond their reach, it could be assumed that the post fight would be where the largest casualties would be, hylian and sheikah alike. it's also likely that the shadow temple, if it was made at this time would have been constructed and run in cooperation with the royal family/guard, as they were chiefly mentioned by the remaining spirits.
    the second point lies with the gerudo. it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for the gerudo to have had a major hand in the sheikah's destruction, as it obviously occurred long before the ties between gerudo and hylians truly soured. if the gerudo had sent even a tiny force, it would not escape the sheikah that survived, or the hylians who were at the time definitely involved with the sheikah. the hylians would never have accepted an offered fealty if they thought for a second that the gerudo had murdered a faction that supported them, they would have had it out right there.
    my theory for the gerudo is this- when the hylians were traipsing around the desert, either transporting insurgent supporters to the arbiter's grounds or general trade/travel, the bandits hear rumors of the triforce. sooner or later ganondorf learns of this, and uses an offered truce for his peoples' past transgressions/offers a sweeter deal (it doesn't really matter, but my money would be 1 safe passage through the desert, 2 gerudo support as well as trade, 3 a cut of major spoils from other nations, if we assume that the gerudo travel beyond hyrule, and that other nations exist around it.) to gain favor with the king, as means of getting close to the triforce. then the events of ocarina play out, the king finally believes ganondorf is no good, and the gerudo war plays out, ending in ganondorf's exile (in the child timeline) into the twilight. access to the desert is lost over the ages because of terrain changes, and thus the arbiter's grounds are nearly totally forgotten as they stand in twilight princess.

  • @RG-Zeldaplayer
    @RG-Zeldaplayer 8 лет назад

    I think its been reasonably well established in Zelda games that no 1 race is wholly good or evil.. the gerudo have good and bad members, the Mogma are both inherently greedy and very generous, and the Deku are both shrewd businessmen and childlike sprites and dangerous foes. and the Zora are both territorial and loyal in equal measure... I honestly think that the interlopers were from all the races of Hyrule... They were simply the ones that mastered specific magics... The sheikah eye symbol is used throughout all areas of Hyrule.. they are the perpetually unseen secret race with red eyes... and I think that there were almost certainly members of the tribe who served the interlopers. I think Zelda U is going to deal with the interloper war (sitting after Skyward Sword and before Ocarina) and that it will introduce characters that awaken ancient monsters with dark magic in much the same way that Ghirahim and Zant both do in their respective games.

    So, I'm beating all the Zelda games in the series starting with the Fallen Hero Timeline...After you defeat the boss in the Skull Temple the Sage there tells you that "If the Hero has fallen, then only a knight of Hyrule, the protectors of the Royal Family (protectors of the Royal Family...Sheikah?, can stand before Ganon." I would be VERY interested in a video explaining the possibility of Link being of Shikah decent. Especially since some may think that the new game (Zelda Wii U) Is going to being more involved with the Shikah. I would greatly appreciate a response if possible, as I am very interested in your opinion on this. Thank you.
