  • Early in the Canon EF system, the EOS 700 came on the scene as an entry level camera. It can take great pictures and uses the same glass and 35mm film as any other EF system camera, but be warned, the EOS 700 has some of the wildest ergonomics I've ever seen on a camera of this type. Making matters worse, it also sports almost zero controls, a plastic lens mount, and uses an odd battery.
The EOS 700 was quickly replaced by the Kiss/Rebel camera line, and any of those cameras will probably be a much better bet. But if you already have an EOS 700... well, it can still get the job done with impressive AF and AE accuracy. You just might not have a great time doing it.

I am literally in the exact situation you recommended. My parents weren’t using this camera anymore so I took it out of storage. If I was buying an SLR I’d likely want something more adjustable but I think I’m gunna have fun keeping it simple and playing around with this. Cheers!
