Toy Galaxy episode planning committee went like this: Greg: We have a transformers episode coming up, what should you wear? Dan: Well, I was looking online and there is this $400 Optimus Prime costume. Greg: We only have $40 and a couple of boxes to spare. Dan: I can make it work!
And a full third of the top ten designed by one person - Shoji Kawamori did Optimus Prime, Starscream and Jetfire. One talented guy right there, he did some of the most iconic Diaclone/Transformers figures, like Ironhide/Ratchet and Prowl/Bluestreak/Smokescreen, returned to Transformers in the 2000s and did MP-3 Starscream and THS-02 Optimus Prime, and did a couple of Gundams, most of the original Armoured Core bits, and a bunch of other stuff along the way... like being the creative controller of Macross from 1994 onwards, designing most of the Valkyries from then on out. And to make it even more awesome? He prototypes his toys and mech designs in lego. And makes sure they can transform so they move properly and keep consistent mass in animation as well.
1984 Optimus has to be #1 and here’s why: Most of the time if your mother wants to tug the heartstrings or emotionally blackmail you, she’ll resort to some reference to carrying you for nine months and so on. Not my Creation Matrix. Any time she’s losing an argument with me, she’ll tell me the story of how she got into a fight in Toys R Us in the 80s to get me an Optimus Prime for Christmas. It’s like the double handed punch to finish off Megatron. Every. Damn. Time. Til all are number One!
Thankyou Dan and Producer Greg. I haven't collected toys in years; instead I got rid of my collection to focus solely on videogames (I had too many collections going on) but your vids, more than any other channel make me feel like I'm still part of the scene.
Dude, same here. Jetfire was the best, but sadly I broke his shoulder about an hour after I got him. 😭 But Soundwave stood the test of time, and was my most played with G1!
Mrs. Toy Galaxy : "Why are we missing an air conditioning vent?" Dan: (with air conditioning vent zip tied to chest of cardboard box Optimus Prime costume) "....I don't know"
Optimus Prime was my “Big present” for Christmas 1984. They were hard to find toys that year and my mom apparently found one hidden in the Barbie aisle in a Toys R Us... which I came to conclude later meant that some other kid didn’t get one for Christmas 🤔
I'm guessing it was 2013 Springer that got most of the votes. 2012 is just a repaint of a random helicopter guy and not a triple changer, and 2019 gets a lot of flak for being frustrating to transform. 2013 gets major points for being based on his appearance in the comic series Last Stand of the Wreckers, which at the time was one of the most critically acclaimed Transformers stories ever.
I only recently discovered TG, and just today started watching The List Show, and I gotta say... I canNOT stop giggling at Dan in his Optimus Prime getup. I love this channel so very much, thank you guys!
As a G1 vintage TF guy my Top 3 would be Soundwave, Shockwave & Devastator (also a Deception guy obviously) Great video! Thanks for posting. Ya made my day Dan & co
Heh, the costume reminded me of the 4 foot tall Optimus I drew as a kid. I only had a bunch of 8x10 notebook paper, so I drew parts of him on multiple pieces and taped him all together, then made him a Bumblebee to scale. I used the profile pics in the old Transformers Universe comics issues as my reference material. Eight year old me was super stoked how they came out 😀
Long Live the [Dan] Larson Prime! 1000/10. You should be a costume manufacturer and multi media entity, crossing the boundaries and redefining pop culture as we know it.
I literally just found the 1984 Soundwave at Walmart last night. I know they’ve been out for a while, but it’s the first time I’ve seen it personally in the wild. Of course I had to buy it. My wife wasn’t happy about the $50 cost, but it was worth it to me.
I'll never forget how excited I was that Christmas when I opened up my present and it was the complete Devastator set! All 6 Constructicons in one box! Man, it was super-f###ing-cool! My brother got the complete five lion Voltron set, so yes, the epic battle of a barely stuck together (I was like six and Devestator was one of the harder Combiners to combine) Devastator versus die-cast Voltron was fought on the kitchen floor! Oh the nostalgia! I wish I was still a Toys R Us kid! :)
MP10 and MP Soundwave are freaking amazeballs. And the G1 versions are just fun to own. The nostalgia! MP Shockwave is also a personal fav. And G1 Devastator is the best combiner. I gave mine an upgrade kit, which looks awesome.
Excellent video! Thank you for your dedication and reverence to Transformers by presenting in costume! Seriously, my respect for you has increased Dan. ‘Till All Are 1!
Your recent style of "just jokes" in your videos (most notably this Transformers top ten and the recent He-Man) is fine, but I preferred when you talk about the toys and why they are good, special, interesting, why they should be on the list, etc.
"You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.” ― John Lydgate
That Beastwars Megatron is ridiculous. Looks like he has a T-Rex puppet on his hand. I didn’t know the Decepticons were into Vaudville. Great video though!
BOLLO AND THE BOOSH! =D, Oh well at one iteration of Grimlock made the list. Both Peter Cullen and Garry Chalk have played versions of Optimus Prime and Donkey Kong, so, they are each and every one Trukk and Munky
It's amazing that I'm a huge Transformers fan, and coming off a video I've been wanting from you guys for a long time, all I can think about is how fantastic that costume is!
2 points: 1st, just when I though “grinds my gears” couldn’t get any better Dan says “unhooks my trailer”! 2nd, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that I believe that Dan likes dinosaurs...
Latin spanish voice of Starscream sounds like more a teenager than a old witch (in english). A couple of years ago I could hear it from Combiners Wars and it was surpringly annoying.
You crack me up man and that costume is probably the best thing I've ever seen haha and holy cow I didn't even know ppl in the USA knew who the mighty Boosh were and for that I love you haha
"Soundwave: Superior. Constructicons: Inferior."
I could hear the voice in my head while I read it.
Who you calling “un-cras-imatic!”

whycdosent this have a heart on it
The duct taped mic on the chestpiece is the cherry on the pie!
The still exposed cardboard shoulder. 😁
Still better looking than those ugly ass cgi Bay formers
Oh my!
I think "cherry on the resistance" is more appropriate.

Holy...Primus... wow. She has your ignition switch right there!
the beast wars bit had me rolling. "and then he picked it, and I was like, aaaaaagh..." This show is comedy gold! XD
Dan Larson's audition to join The Cybertronic Spree.
Seeing them live tomorrow night!
Love this band!
Hell yeah, their kickstarter merch I got arrived the other day!
*inhales deep breath*
CROSSOVER EPISODE!!!!
Dan has my vote!
The cost & time for the costume was totally worth it!
Dan is more than meets the eye. And knowing is half the battle!
Greg: Dan, think you can somehow cobble together an Optimus costume for this episode?
Dan: All I need is a little Energon... and a lot of duct tape.
"Uhhooks my trailer!" HA HA
It’s a wonderful list and damn I love this show!! That Prime costume is great!!!
Thankyou Dan and Producer Greg. I haven't collected toys in years; instead I got rid of my collection to focus solely on videogames (I had too many collections going on) but your vids, more than any other channel make me feel like I'm still part of the scene.
The close up where he says "This is where the acting happens" should be a meme format.
I literally *just* walked in the door having *just* purchased the newly reissued G1 Soundwave, to find this newly posted vid......
Soundwave w/ Buzzsaw was the first Transformer I ever bought, and will always hold a place in my heart. Nevertheless, my top pick is still Jetfire.
Dude, same here. Jetfire was the best, but sadly I broke his shoulder about an hour after I got him. 😭 But Soundwave stood the test of time, and was my most played with G1!
Mrs. Toy Galaxy : "Why are we missing an air conditioning vent?"
Dan: (with air conditioning vent zip tied to chest of cardboard box Optimus Prime costume) "....I don't know"
G1 Soundwave is a masterpiece. Only one of the original run that actually worked as both an action figure and it's disguise. Beautifully designed.
This list to me literally just sounds like Optimus is going on a drunk tangent, especially the Beast wars bit
I give it a 10, Dan! Make more costumes for your show/toyline themed segments, please.
Soundwave was my first ever transformer. I still have him too.
Optimus Prime was my “Big present” for Christmas 1984. They were hard to find toys that year and my mom apparently found one hidden in the Barbie aisle in a Toys R Us... which I came to conclude later meant that some other kid didn’t get one for Christmas 🤔
That costume goes to 11! I can only hope you rock Halloween this year as some kind of He-Man / Optimus Prime unholy combination.
You may not like it but this is what Optimus’s face looks like under the mask.
I picked up the reissue Walmart Soundwave along with cassettes.I envy the lot of that grew up in the 80's, those classic style figures are the best.
Your reaction to Megatron picking dinosaur form might be the hardest I've laughed all week. Thanks for that.
SOUNDWAVE SUPERIOR. AUTOBOTS INFERIOR.
No, if the little dino is a decepticon, shoot him anyway.
Danimus Prime has got the touch. He's got the power...for comedy.

Those are great! My personal favs are: Jetfire, Soundwave, Shockwave. 😁
Never expected a Mighty Boosh insert! Made me smile and actually laugh out loud, thank you!
Now I want to hear Optimus Prime do a Crimp, yes...?!
I really love this channel, spontaneous intelligent knowledgeable script with a cool sense of humour. More power

You guys actually got Optimus to do this list? Bravo!
Bit of a jerk though. After he was done he transformed into a truck and drove right through the wall
@@SecretGalaxyTV Are you guys sure you got Optimus Prime and not Nemesis Prime? You guys did a great job!
You are 200% my hero for being able to keep a straight face through this!
Sound Wave number 1 and a mighty boosh reference makes for a perfect list.
Awesome costume! I can't believe 1984 Soundwave was #1!!! I wouldn't have even put it on the list
omg the More You Know psa was simply the best!!!
This costume, and your previous He-Man cosplay are what got me to finally subscribe to the channel, so I'd say 'yes, please. more of this'!
...omg....two lil guys trying to steal your tires....lol.... poetic genius
Yes! Generations Springer made the list. That figure was so good, I bought extras for my friends.
we're friends... right????
I think all the lead paint in the old toys has finally gotten to Dan.
Those Star Wars glasses from Burger King probably did the job first. They did for me.
WTF! How did you make THE most perfect homemade costume of all time, Dan!!! I'm going to the jelly school. Amazing.
Real talk: the costume actually looks pretty good.
LOVE the costume!! Nice to know that for a little funds and a lot of effort, ANYONE can be Optimus Prime!
Holy crap, this episode is so good in so many ways. I want to make that costume, to start.
Really enjoying going through the back catalog.
yup top three were spot on. that springer guy looks awesome, ive never seen him
My Soundwave was a gift from a friend who is no longer with us. He would have loved this channel so much. This one's for you Dave!
First the awesome Optimus costume, then a Mighty Boosh clip... Dan, you've outdone yourself.
That's all Producer Greg. I don't even know what a Boosh is.
Well, you're missing out.
Long Live the [Dan] Larson Prime!

MP10 and MP Soundwave are freaking amazeballs. And the G1 versions are just fun to own. The nostalgia! MP Shockwave is also a personal fav. And G1 Devastator is the best combiner. I gave mine an upgrade kit, which looks awesome.
Your content is so underrated my man Dan. Please know this one was well done and much appreciated.
Thank you very much for the kind words.
This very well may be the best episode of Toy Galaxy EVAR!!!👍 Kudos to you Opti-Dan Prime!
Excellent video!
Thank you for your dedication and reverence to Transformers by presenting in costume!
Seriously, my respect for you has increased Dan.

Your recent style of "just jokes" in your videos (most notably this Transformers top ten and the recent He-Man) is fine, but I preferred when you talk about the toys and why they are good, special, interesting, why they should be on the list, etc.

I would be willing to bet that when people say "Generations Springer" they mean the Thrilling 30 version that you showed pictures of.
Dan's cosplay game is on point. Duct tape is cosplay's best friend.
Amazing. Now I'm looking forward for a Thundercats Costumed Top Ten, or better yet, a Shera Costumed Top Ten.
Dan can dress up like either Bow or Hordak 😄
That Optimus Prime costume is awesome!
Thanks!
Hey I still have the 1985 Grimlock on my shelf :D
Was so excited to get it way back when.
Award for the best use of cardboard boxes and duct tape, love the costume!!
I love this video more than I can describe. Words fail in the awe of Optimus Dan
You need to do all your lists in character from now on. Best video on the channel by far

Toy or show, Soundwave was the coolest. Thanks for the show.
i was about to comment how awesome the costume was then you asked the question it's like you're in my head! 10 a thousand times 10!
Starscream... that voice... is LEGEND!
The original Starscream basically solidified the "traitorous underling".
Latin spanish voice of Starscream sounds like more a teenager than a old witch (in english). A couple of years ago I could hear it from Combiners Wars and it was surpringly annoying.
Love the commitment to the costume. Best top 10 episode yet.
Soundwave absolutely deserves number one! Still the best Transformer ever.
Danimus Prime Toy Galaxy Commander! Only 15 secs in and I am already laughing and loving this video.
I enjoy your dedication too our hobby, great video and costume.
I think #1 was a typo. Maybe everyone meant Shockwave instead of Soundwave. I also give the costume an 8.5.
Did not expect any mighty boosh!
My favorite transformers have to be Grimlock and Magmatron. They're awesome
Good list. Surprised at no Shockwave.
Unhooks My Trailer...best line EVER
I have to go 5 on the costume because it is both awesome and I could watch its like all day.
Ooo, I did love my 84 StarScream and Optimus Prime!
The VF from Robotech (Macross) is one of the most amazing transforming vehicle ever.
Great list and costume Dan.
Danimus prime is a great edition to my transformers head cannon
Kick ass prime costume-mighty boosh reference, O you mighty bastard had me at hello
