One of your best videos ever! For me Optimus stands as the greatest fictional hero of all time. Wise, powerful, fearless, and compassionate. And a badass truck.
I didn't even know the dude's name. I just knew and I owned that figure, there was something that Drew me towards the design, colour scheme and overall badass look.
Always wanted it, technically never got it Though I do own the Bandai Macross Roy Focker Super Valkyrie (and only just managed to grab it when Bandai ended the re-release)
@@user-si9fx4xb6v Awesome! I seen him in the store around 1989 and forgot to hide him in the back of the bunch. Actually I think I did hid him but some smarter kid found him before I came back with money a few days later, lol.
@@JanetStarChild Actually no, that's not correct. The possessive apostrophe takes precedence over the decade omission apostrophe, since Dan is theoretically being possessed by the 80s. Wordplay unintended but still, very funny.
This is straight up memory lane for me. I had all of these and all the obscure ones too. I played out every episode from every cartoon I was into with those same toys.It was pure magic to be a kid in the 80’s.It was a golden age of cartoons and toys. I may not have those toys anymore but the memories and content like this are priceless. Thank you so much Dan and company.
Fantastic video, fellas. I had a feeling Optimus would take the top spot handily but thought Snake Eyes v2 was a lock for 2nd or 3rd. Jericho was right... Wolf is best upgrade.
I’m just glad that my top 3 made the list and I’m also happy that the Matchbox Voltron made the list as well. Out of all of toys from the 80’s I think Voltron and Optimus Prime were my favorites. As always great video and Toy Galaxy Rocks!
its a great list! i am a little surprised jetfire didn't make the list seeing as how he fills both the TF fan-base and the Macross/robotech one as well. Also I am pretty sure his design was called "perfect" in some fashion in japan.
Optimus' red white and blue immediately make me think "Murica," and his patriarchal leadership vibe immediately makes me think of Reagan and the 80s. Love your channel, it is just so great for us 80s kids.
This. channel makes me so proud to have fellow 1980's Toy Addict from fellow New England shop just north of where I grew up and started my true passion that seemed to follow me right until my present age (41). It seems like my oldest friends all have families of their own to buy new age toys that I couldn't care less for. I'm confident that some of my Joes will make this list. But I'm secretly hoping that Micheal Knight with Kit will appear or at least maybe an additional top 15-20 list coming soon?
Great, like radically awesome video. Kudos on your cleverly nostalgic (as usual) writing and presentation. I'm glad Soundwave placed as high as he did...he was my first Transformer I ever had (Thanx dad!) and thus was my sentimental favorite. Cheers!
You realize that you've now set the bar pretty high. Gonna have to try hard to top things like this! Excellent work! (I'm only at 9 and that cell phone and had to leave this comment already!)
I missed out on contributing my own votes (I honestly couldn't wrap my head around the question as a list like that is hard for me to narrow) but I did have Optimus Prime, and sadly he passed while flying through my friend's backyard as I was running along clutching him by his legs and I tripped... and one of his legs broke clean off. My Megatron lorded over him from that day forth as he just couldn't drive away anymore.
My top pick wouldn't even crack the top 100, mostly because of his scarcity: Mattel's Clash of the Titans The Kraken. This giant sized rendition of Ray Harryhausen's masterpiece was the Holy Grail of my childhood and much in the same way remained elusive. Because of the size and cost of the figure production was low so few toy stores carried it and those that did often had it out of stock. Normally depicted as a giant squid, this version of the Nordic sea monster was a more stylized hulking humanoid with 4 arms, fins for legs, and a foot long tail which extended from his derrière. Ironically in the 1981 film "Clash of the Titans" there were no complete body shots of The Kraken. This toy was based on Harryhousen's original maquette and for the longest time was the only way to get a complete view of the creature in all its glory. Although coming from an era when articulation was still in its infancy, The Kraken did have a 360 degree swivel waist, all 4 arms on ball joints, and a detachable tail which swung back & forth on a hinge. Although I never did get this incredible figure as a child, The Kraken now sits proudly on my shelf thanks to our friends the internet and eBay. To whoever holds the license for this toy line I say: Re-release The Kraken! =)
You guys have reached a new level with this one...good/bad...low/high... doesn't matter! It's a new level and I love you. Also, Soundwave? You complete me... only one on the list that makes my heart flutter with excitement. ❤️
Yowza! I can’t believe kid me owned seven of those ten. Eight now if I can count the retro Optimus Prime I picked up last month! (Which leaves the two Snake-Eyes as the only figures I didn’t have, though I’m pretty sure I had Snake-Eyes 3) Great list! Great phone gag!
Not surprised Optimus Prime would be #1. It's a great figure of an iconic character which is why I have an entire book case dedicated to him in my collection.
Wow! Boba Fett was first made in late 1979 and is considered an 80's icon. That's a lot like Gary Nueman's song Cars. And they came out with a new model every year, just like cars. And he had to be recalled, just like cars! What a long and lonely journey he is on down the long and dusty road, just like ... IDK a horse or something that travels down roads. I can't really think of what that could be right now.
Great list I don't have much to complain about it really and am glad Warduke got his respect, a very fun figure back in the day. My personal favorite figure of the 80s was Storm Shadow I had 7 of them at one point.
Loved Warduke so happy he made the list. Also happy to see snake-eyes 1985 version. Surprised no Megatron or anyone from the super powers collection though.
Great list Dan I absolutely love channel you and Pixel Dan have the most entertaining and informative toy channels on you tube imo, keep up the great work Mr. Dan Larson!!!!
Man I was thinking about Pixel Dan when he mentioned He-Man as number #2 on the list. That ought to make Dan smile in his bed as he doses off to sleep to night. Good night (Little Nemo) Dan.
Excellent list. Grew up in that era, had every single one of those toys except for snake eyes. LOL. I was always a color man. All black just seemed kind of lazy to me. But really enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for the time warp 👍
I’d love a chance to learn more history on a couple of obscure toy brands like mega force or galoobs ‘expanders’ line heck maybe even some insight on micro machines. I love your in-depth work on many of my fave ol skool toys and collectibles, keep up the awesome work ☺️
love the outfit (and the mullet!) had to figure THAT would be the #1, though. also shout-out to the boba fett collection I saw that on kenner's fb page and soon as I realized what it was, I knew who the owner was! :P
I agree with a lot of your list especially the top four. Out of all the Snake Eyes figures made in the 1980s and early to mid 1990s the Snake Eyes version 2 is the one that got away. I owned back in the day the original Soundwave and the He-Man figure. But my Holy Grail is finding a mint in box 1984 Optimus Prime

“Yeah... a wolf.” Best toy galaxy video ever and that line killed me!
Megatron was the best 80s toy for bank robberies and liquor store hold ups!!
Lol
Half my childhood friends were shot by cops while playing with Megatron in gun mode.
I would argue the best one was the other gun figure which wasn't in transformers, Browning.
Shockwave = discount Megatron
Megatron probably wasn’t populair with black parents
By far my favorite RUclips channel right now.
Dirty autobot. Decepticons forever!
Agreed!
Kevin Peoples Same!
Why can I only subscribe once?!
Wait, how’d you guys afford Don Johnson as a one-off host for this video?
to be fair Don will do anything now for a ham sandwich :D
Sandra Snow-Balvert LOL!!
I thought that was Kenny Loggins.

Jetfire was my Favorite toy of my childhood in the 80's
He was both an Autobot and a Veritech. The best of both worlds!
My brother was sooo pissed when I got Jetfire.
Always wanted it, technically never got it

I can't believe you got Bruce Campbell to guest star for the Snake Eyes/Wolf bit!!! Well done!!!
Switching out He-Mans arms brings back memories of the days when it was ok to be a kid.
Transformers Toys ( high pitched screaming )
Could one consider Boba Fett a space ninja from a galaxy far away? Also, how did Dan get his hair so feathery? It's stunning... I can't look away.
He-Man action figures were not too big, not too small, and very durable and relatable. My favorite.
Well said
very relatable cus I was just as buff at 8 years old!
Another great list...
I bet Mrs. Toy Galaxy couldn't keep her hands off of you dressed in that get-up!
You added Storm Shadow! You are TRULY a legit child of the 80s! I always wanted the the white camouflage version. But I think he came out much later.
@ Wis Dom, yes that would be Storm Shadow version 2 from 1988. Like the 1984 original he is quite popular with G.I. Joe collectors. I have one myself.
@@user-si9fx4xb6v Awesome! I seen him in the store around 1989 and forgot to hide him in the back of the bunch. Actually I think I did hid him but some smarter kid found him before I came back with money a few days later, lol.

I was born n the 70's I had every toy on this list except the turtle's and a watched tmnt everyday after school
80's Dan needs to be new character for Toy Galaxy.
He would be labeled as '80s Dan, because the apostrophe actually goes before the 8, not after the 0.
@@JanetStarChild Actually no, that's not correct. The possessive apostrophe takes precedence over the decade omission apostrophe, since Dan is theoretically being possessed by the 80s. Wordplay unintended but still, very funny.

Autobot Convoy himself.
