    Another thing to add about Titanium Megatron: the Autobot sigils on his side in vehicle mode. Yes, I know they symbolize 'Bots he felled in battle, but something different could have been done with them. Like turn them upside-down, with jagged lines through them. But, that would take effort and imagination.

    I will still wait for the day that they get to the point of redoing Beast Machines characters. I get that they are terrible designs and stuff, but some like the Vehicons really deserve new official toys (in the correct scale too) at some point for Generations. THe only figure we've ever gotten after the original toyline was T30 Tankor. Despite being a deluxe and having some bad QC with parts (namely the shoulders) being misassembled, it was still quite good for what it was. So far has been one of the best figures for Beast Machines imo.

    I'll give it a shot...how about the "Arcee triplets" from Revenge of the Fallen? Arcee, Chromia, and Elita-1 were done SUPER dirty in that movie, even aside from the fact that they were unceremoniously killed off by random gunfire in the overly long and explosion heavy climax sequence. The Arcee "figure" had a motorcycle mode that didn't peg together well, a terribly misshapen robot mode that had virtually no poseability because of the giant arm and needed a stand made out of a side car because it had no legs, not to mention it just looked AWFUL. Chromia also looked terrible and couldn't stand because it's "foot" was a wheel, but it at least pegged together okay in vehicle mode, but Elita-1 who was originally supposed to her own mold at one point turned out to be a repaint of Chromia, and that meant their promised combined mode ended up not being a thing. With all of that crap the most recent Arcee being a lazy shellformer is no big deal...

    • @captainthiccnick
      @captainthiccnick 2 года назад +8

      With the mold for the Arcee figure they had laying around for the first Bayformer movie, I'm confused why they didn't use that as the model for "Arcee" or the triplets. Sure the thing was a bit ugly but at least it could stand upright and had decent articulation from what I can remember.

      He actually did do a video on Abominus years ago. He basically takes the view that it's not a great combined mode, but considering that it's a Legion-class combiner, it's more of a bonus mode to five other toys that are mostly okay at worst.

    Might qualify as low-hanging fruit, but I do think that Prime Robots in Disguise Deluxe Airachnid belongs on a list of the worst Transfomers toys. Articulation and show-accuracy sacrificed in the name of weird gimmicks and questionable engineering choices, to the point that (as others have pointed out) the Legion-class figure is actually a better toy and a better representation of the character.

    I happen to have three of the Armada Sideswipe mold - the original with Nightbeat, the Cybertron redeco as Runamuck (Runabout) with a gun block, and the Battle in a Box Treadshot which I painted as actual Runamuck (with the unchanged Nightbeat painted as "Battlecharger") to go with the Cybertron one. Far from my favorite Armada figure but weirdly interesting.

  • @AwesomeMooseSmile
    @AwesomeMooseSmile 2 года назад +13

    A couple of ones I would say is that personally I think nightscream from beast machines was my least favorite, though I don't know if it's actually the worst or not. Both modes look ridiculously ugly, it's also hilariously out of scale just like silverbolt (I think nightscream was shorter than rattrap), and even the articulation sucks because a lot of it is just ratchety uncomfortable crap. At least with silverbolt he can have a kind of cool unofficial gryphon mode just like how longhorn can have a minotaur mode to save that figure, And supreme cheetor isn't offensive to the eye and his hilariously bad.
    If you're gonna talk about an ugly weird robot mode from revenge of the fallen that can't stand, my first pick wouldn't be demolishor, but instead Arcee. That figure has an okay vehicle mode, but one of the worst robot modes I have ever seen in my life. It actually astonishes me that some people consider Earthrise Arcee worse than that figure, at least Earthrise Arcee has arguably the best looking robot mode of any of Hasbro's attempts, even if it's lacking in paint in a couple of areas. Revenge of the Fallen Arcee is just an absolute mess and the sad thing is the first movie was perfectly fine, so I don't get what they were thinking (yes I'm aware the toy is based off of the movie, but they still could have made a more appealing toy)

Guzzle because he has less transformation steps than some of the Wendy's GoBots, AND they're painfully tight, AND the gimmick was dead on mine. Choro-Q Megatron because, as awesome as a chibi transforming gun is, I've never encountered plastic so fragile. Animated voyager megatron, in a line that excelled with great engineering and cartoon accuracy, this guy is an embarrassment. Bad paint, bad plastic, doesn't fit together, and the gimmick sucks. Plus bad proportions, huge legs with a tiny body that's the same size or smaller than the deluxe.

    I'll say that the upscaled Legion class figures are great for kids. You have the bigger scale that's better to hold while having a little more complexity. I think the same of the Cyber Battalion figures they had at Walgreen's and now on Hasbro Pulse.

    Sideswipe! One of my earliest memories! Hid under my pillow and played with at night!
    I DESPISED any of the fallen devastator figs
    The horror.
    Treads are my least favorite aspect because of them!

    I had that Retrax as a kid, and always assumed it was some kind of dollar store knockoff! I am literally only now realising it was an actual licensed figure instead of Super Deform Star God or something. Jesus wept.

    I still have that cheetor figure. I still sorta like him, but he takes up a bunch of room (still in his box) in my closet. He's just kinda big and clunky, maybe as a kid I liked him, but I also had the jetstorm ultra class and that was way more played with. He might still be in my house somewhere. Those are my only 2 Beast Machine toys. I have optimal optimus and a deluxe waspinator (red and gold) from Beast Wars.

    Yo I had titanium megatron as a kid and can atest to its structural integrity. A couple months back I actually found one of his legs in my closet years after finding an arm in a completely different house.

    I loved Retrax! He was one of my favorite Preds outside of the Mainframe characters. Sideswipes bot mode is bad but I like him being a regular, boring looking car. Kinda suits his personality. You could make a top ten worst just using Titanium figures.

    Cybertron Soundwave/Universe Blaster - Jet mode did not peg together, sub-par robot mode. Laserbeak/Blockrock mini-con gives it some redeeming value; though it still suffers from having to live in the shadow of the OG Soundwave and how cool the cassette tape gimmick is.

    RotF Demolishor is especially not great now that Studio Series Scavenger is a thing.
    A version of that design that doesn't have rubber treads, is capable of combining with the other Constructicon figures, and, while it does still require a bit of extra support to remain upright, can be very simply mistransformed to give it a more stable standing surface.

    bang on about retrax. the beast mode is fine, but the robot mode is utter trash.
    I also remember finding that cheetor stomach piece in a bin of parts and thinking it was part of some bug transfromer. It really was a giant piece of plastic turd.

    Can confirm on ROTF Demolisher: The rubber threads is warping away at the dark metallic olive plastic he has inside the wheel assembly. It looks like melted cheese. Nothing too severe but once you see it, you can't unsee it. Heard the Bludgeon mold has a similar condition.
