The fan mode of turning BM Silverbolt into a griffin looks a lot better for that figure, AND it matches him being a Fuzor a lot better than being only a bird.
I love how it gets progressively harder like the first one is "yeah this is an original and fun idea that they tried" and the last one is "I mean, if they asked me to design a transformer toy I wouldn't do better..."
The best thing that can be said about Titanium Megatron is that he was the only figure from the line that wasn't based on a pre-existing design which meant the designers had to put in extra effort to create a completely original robot design, and as a design, it works. The execution of the toy is just beyond tragic.
Beast Machines basing the size of the toys on the popularity of the characters might be nice for kids that don't care about scale, but still want to complete the main cast without spending the most money on their least favorite character. I'm currently only collecting Seekers in Core Class, because I don't want to spend too much money on them, but still want to complete the cast. They can fly in the background so their size doesn't really matter for me. One neat thing about Armada Sideswipe is how mundane his alt mode is. A nice breath of fresh air between all the supercars and fire engines that absolutely would get noticed when driving around in groups.
As a toy designer, myself. I have A TON of empathy and sympathy for the team that designed Titanium Megatron. I'm pretty early in my career, so if someone told _me_ "Hey. Design a die-cast Transformer with modern articulation standards, and here's the deadline." I would probably not turn out anything much better than him.
Retrax’s beast mode could be devastating if used as ammunition in a cannon. Imagine him just crashing into the middle of a fight after being fired from a cannon via heavy artillery space cruiser in orbit, and just crushing any survivors in the crater with him. As for protection once in robot mode, he’d just use the kibble from his beast mode as heavy armor.
1 Nice Thing About 9 of The 10 Worst Transformers That Aren't Silverbolt: Their alt mode isn't them standing on their hands with the legs spread wide with a head emerging from their groin. (Though Demolishor only barely clears this extremely low hurdle.)
The neuron finally fired in my brain to make me think, “why didn’t power core combiners do an energon prime?” Nobody? Not a single soul on the team thought about that? The limbs are literally called drones!
I would say that Retrax has a pretty color scheme. Especially in his robot mode. The distribution of the yellow and greens along with the white/beige looks pretty cool to me!
The Titanium G.I. Joe Megatron, compared to the War Within Megatron, actually has something of a proper transformation to him. If the execution wasn't a lost cause, the design could've worked.
Imagine if the next Megatron we get in Generations is “Titanium Universe” Megatron. Not Animated, not Cybertron, not a full-sized Superlink Galvatron… just an upscaled, modernized version of one of the worst figures ever made. Even more baffling would be if this hypothetical Titanium Megs redo ends up being one of the best figures of its year of release. Besides, it’s not the worst Megatron design they could do in Generations. -We still have the Legion from KP to redo-
Supreme Class Cheetor opened the door to other, larger price points and its honestly probably the reason we have the Commander and Titan class price points now. Also, Cheetor was 100% responsible for the Unicron toy in Armada because they had the price point, box dimensions, etc. due to the Supreme size class.
You and I both know that I am fully to blame for Bert’s brain rot from sideswipe. After he took mine for the evening and discovered hilariously fun things about it I had to go buy him one of his own😂😂😂
Ngl I kinda love BM Silverbolt's nutty color scheme X33 Does it work for the character? Nope lmao But I really love that translucent/vibrant Y2K aesthetic it's going for XP
Agree the Tri-Rex is actually a cool looking dinosaur mode and the transformed version is/are horrid. I've never transformed mine and had to look up what they looked like. There is also the Mega version of the Animorphs Tobias Hawk where the beast mode looks great, but the human form is creepy. I always thought they should retool that into Airazor because the beast mode looked better than hers usually does.
I see a lot of talking about an energon optimus prime in core class-ish. I say it's the occasion to bring back the PowerCoreCombiners. I agree that the concept was solid, if not overambitious, and even at it's worse, the results were just underwelming but they really did everything they set up to do rotf demolishor was a complete unique thing. it really needed more engineering in the arms with a couple swivels, and a tripod at at least once of the 'legs' but for the rest, it was a solid mold. armada sideswipe is a rare case of "just a car". which is surprisingly rare of a concept in transformers as a whole: him, G1 skids, specifically the second wave g1 minibots, and who else is out there? heck, even the siege zombie car still uses the bulked-up design hereditated from bluestreack/smokescreen/prowl, and that's literally supposed to be a scrapheap mascot titanium megatron has a nice design, chunky tank that transforms into a bulky robot, and it's a whole new design. it could work as a middlepoint before megatron becoming the decepticons leader
I think Sideswipe (of the ones I've had or seen) was my only disagreement. Scavenger is just a walking brick. I actually like Sideswipe's vehicle mode, the gimmick with the Mini-Con, and even the Mini-Con itself. The robot gimmicks hurt the robot and the "dragster" looks like the front end is trying to escape but there are positive things about the figure.
Picked up titanium megatron for $5 at Botcon 2023 and...I love him! He has a nice heft in your hands, a satisfying transformation. Playing with this thing brought back fond memories of the mid 2000's, although i never owned this particular toy. 10/10 most fun ive had with transformers in years. Not even being sarcastic.
you kow what TJ? I think anyone that follows you or any transformers collector, could have done, better design than "Titanium Megatron", because we know the flaws of the pieces and different materials, we know how or when to use a ball joint, where to put the diecast, wich piece has to be plastic, not to use GOLD OR TRANSLUCID PLASTIC... and so on
At least these look okay taken by themselves even if they are not accurate to how they should look. I've seen worst toys in Cyberverse that are barely painted, inaccurate to their actual appearance and have very little articulation.
The tri rex was an official toy? I thought for the past 22 years my dad bought a bootleg beast machines toy. For demolisher I like his vehicle mode and how his tires turn into treads rather than them being different parts in the studio series
I have a request, could you do a video about the best representations of transformers for the original animated movie? I know studio series 86 has made great versions but there is few decepticons in that series. As well as Autobots. Thanks for reading this and whether you do it or not I love your videos.
Okay. I don't know if this will help, but I love Beast Machines Silverbolt because I also love Captain Planet and I used the fact that he has red 'gloves' and 'boots' against a crystal blue skin to rebrand mine as Magnus Planet. Created by Primus to stabilize Cybertron with the powers combined of Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and Spark given to five special Protoforms. What? I had an imagination back then.
I still feel that the tri rex isn't the worst animorphs toy simply because at least it has one really good mode, which I can't say the same for deluxe Tobias, and another thing is that why would you ever get the deluxe when you can get the mega, which is way better. The tri rex is still bad though, although I do love pretending that it came from a hypothetical kid geared toyline in the 90s for the thing where they assimilated a T rex somehow.
Also, forgot to say... if TJ Omega said something nice about "TITANIUM MEGATRON"... I think is it going to be the end of the franchise?!?!? or the world is coming to an end?... I'm scared, honestly. 😅😅😅😅
Powercore the auto transform gimmick is a bit of a drag but some of the scouts are nice as scouts, idk if we’ll se a proper update to the line but giving the scout characters modern day deluxes could be neat the drone combiner part would probably be a nightmare to design and budget but just deluxe update would be cool. Armada sideswipe and the repaints it’s kinda the case if it’s so bad it’s funny type figure, the car mode is nice I have the cybertron runabout repaint it’s probably the best version of it and it’s a funny lil guy. ROTF demolishor needs a stand the old/new both need something to help hold it up to get more posing options you can get a couple but the design limits it. It’s a cool design but figure wise it’s limiting
Retrax is on my list for figures I want to try and build With improvements of course Although I doubt I could get the spring loaded hug gimmick to work
I did something similar to this a few years back. I hate the live action films, I don't think any of them are really any good. But I did challenge myself by rewatching them and trying to find good things to say about them. If you ever review Armada which is another series that I absolutly HATE even more than the movies. I think Armada is the single worst Transformers fiction ever made. I might challenge myself to actually find good things to say about each episode... except Past part 2 cause that episode is actually the one exception I really enjoyed out of that series so it really wouldn't be hard to say something good about the best episode of the worst series.
The fan mode of turning BM Silverbolt into a griffin looks a lot better for that figure, AND it matches him being a Fuzor a lot better than being only a bird.

With a bit of retooling, Retrax could've worked as a Deluxe Unicron, long before Cybertron Unicron
Funnily enough, Takara wanted to retool Retrax into a Unicron minion for Neo.
The best thing that can be said about Titanium Megatron is that he was the only figure from the line that wasn't based on a pre-existing design which meant the designers had to put in extra effort to create a completely original robot design, and as a design, it works. Yeah, I liked the design for the most part, but handling him, he basically fell to pieces if you looked at him wrong
I kinda like titanium Megatron's color scheme. We don't really see black helmet Megatron outside of the original comics. That's about all I can say.
Beast Machines basing the size of the toys on the popularity of the characters might be nice for kids that don't care about scale, but still want to complete the main cast without spending the most money on their least favorite character. Personally I just want the three main seekers. Especially if they do the Armada versions because that’s my favorite design of Skywarp
it's all fun untill it is the only option you have.
I loved retrax and his toy. I used him as sort of a canopy for smaller bots to protect them from aerial fire and sometimes rain.
As a toy designer, myself. I have A TON of empathy and sympathy for the team that designed Titanium Megatron. I'm pretty early in my career, so if someone told _me_ "Hey. The design of Titanium Megatron looks amazing to me.
I'm saying his looks, NOT the function.
Let's pray one day Hasbro decides to give that design another shot and rework it with modern engineering
@@devilbringer1102 Hell, they should use Don Figueroa's design for Titanium Megatron if they choose to rework it!
A house-cat sized Transformer would sell like crazy I imagine if it was Ravage-
At least I'd buy it
Part of me wants supreme Cheetor just to see how bad he is
The neuron finally fired in my brain to make me think, “why didn’t power core combiners do an energon prime?” Nobody? Not a single soul on the team thought about that? The limbs are literally called drones!
9:26
The fact he just goes silent here is hilarious. 😂😂
I would say that Retrax has a pretty color scheme. Especially in his robot mode. The distribution of the yellow and greens along with the white/beige looks pretty cool to me!
i had Titanium Megatron as a kid. i was happy to have a Megatron, but the fact it kept falling apart was really annoying
The Titanium G.I. Joe Megatron, compared to the War Within Megatron, actually has something of a proper transformation to him. If the execution wasn't a lost cause, the design could've worked.

So I have a funny story I got a titanium megatron…HE HAS FUNCTIONING BALL JOINTS THAT DONT JUET POP
OFF DURUNG TRANORMATION
The only bad quality about the Tri-Rex’s dinosaur mode is the fact that you have Marco’s legs sticking out.
22:19 I mean, it’s got a base that can be used for another Megatron…
Supreme Class Cheetor opened the door to other, larger price points and its honestly probably the reason we have the Commander and Titan class price points now.

Upsize legend, class toys but add better articulation and transformation points! That will be cool!

Best compliment to Powercore combiner is in how many different ways they could transform vechicles into limbs
Titanium Megatron is a guilty pleasure for me. I know they did terrible on him, but I somehow actually find myself having fun with him.
I think Sideswipe (of the ones I've had or seen) was my only disagreement. Scavenger is just a walking brick. As someone who had Double Clutch, I think the main toy is actually pretty good if you ignore the drones entirely.
I still feel that the tri rex isn't the worst animorphs toy simply because at least it has one really good mode, which I can't say the same for deluxe Tobias, and another thing is that why would you ever get the deluxe when you can get the mega, which is way better. Jeepers-creepers, man.... This would've made an exquisite cringe-worthy Halloween episode! 😅

BM Supreme Cheetor looks like what would happen if you gave an anorexic cheetah a tapeworm.
You can feel the pain in his voice the further this goes lmaoo
Retrax is on my list for figures I want to try and build
With improvements of course
Although I doubt I could get the spring loaded hug gimmick to work
Armada Sideswipe is actually one of my more well liked Armada figures because it stores it's minicon.
Has anyone other than me noticed how Power Core Combiner Double-Clutch and Armada Sideswipe have the same head?
here is a cookie and a hug for you TJ! 🍪🤗😊👍
I forgot how gimmicky some of the figures in armada were, I thought some of the newer ones were bad
I've heard some people say Titanium Megatron is a good paperweight...but isn't that an insult to paperweights?
I did something similar to this a few years back. I hate the live action films, I don't think any of them are really any good. But I did challenge myself by rewatching them and trying to find good things to say about them.

Once and Future plastic addict victims
The only thing that I will say about titanium Megatron is he is a great paper weight
9:21-9:30 "This is bad comedy!"
Titanium Megatron. Tin star for trying…because Gold is for winners
The vehicle mode of Titanium Megatron looks okay. That's something right?
I had scapal when i was younger thought he was alot of fun till he broke😭
Bonus Round: Airachnid.
There's days I wish I drank cracked me up😂
Megatron 😢
I love supreme cheetor
Lo ed this video, thank you!
Didn't you do this before? I swear you did
Hmm
Studio Series much better
