I am 75 and just took my BP and it is 109/69 and my DR. insists I take Losartin for BP. He got upset when I quit taking a statin after I had lost 50 lbs about a year ago. I haven't had anything with sugar, bread and on low Carbs for 15 months. Sometimes these doctors steer you down the wrong path and always pushing as many prescriptions as they can get away with.

I don't take anything for BP, altho I do take a low dose statin, which honestly I wonder if it's still necessary being my cholesterol numbers are really good. I've found that steady exercise at the gym (weights, treadmill, etc) has gone a long way toward keeping my BP at such healthy levels.

This is the recommendation from the American Heart Association in 2017. They upgraded a few years ago to 120/80 because of the Sprint Study. The people on that study was compromised and the College of American Physicians didn’t adopt the recommendation for older adults saying the science was not proven. Yours is through the roof and if any doc tells you much different than what I'm stating here find someone else. they got all kindsa meds to control these (along with rate) so do it. You don't want your average rate under around 60ppm. yeah your systolic is over by 21% and your diastolic is over by 6%. Look. Over time wacked numbers can cause strokes, aneurysms, CHF. Nasty.

      Oh a web search ..
"The American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology recommend a blood pressure lower than 130/80 mm Hg for men and women who are 65 or older. The Joint National Committee on Hypertension sets the target at 150/90, but the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology advise taking it down to 140/90.
Normal blood pressure for adults is less than 120/80 mm Hg, according to the American Heart Association. High blood pressure for all adults is defined as 130/80 mm Hg or higher, and lowering the threshold for treatment was found to give greater protection against heart attacks and strokes.
I am in my 60's as well...and my doc gave me Losartan to relax the blood vessels and lower the pressure from 180/90 ..
I have found beet juice, Magnesium and I have lost 15 lbs doing intermittent fasting over 9 months so I have dropped the Losartan and my BP hangs in the 130/75 range.
