I have a love/hate relationship with these videos. I love the creativity, the ideas and the easy way you explain everything. I hate them because I want to run out to the garage and start MAKING these right away, but I have orders for other stuff that needs done first! 😆
Like every married man ! We all have the ‘list’! 😆
At least you have orders. I'm still struggling to get orders
@@jonathanhaywood5623 sign up to do a craft show at a local farm market or outdoor show. That's where all of my orders came from (aside from family and friends).
For the chalk board idea, I throw the glass away (or buy the ones with broken or missing glass) and cut out a piece of sheet metal. Put the chalkboard paint on that, and now you have a chalkboard that you can stick magnets to. Years ago, I added chalkboard sheet metal to the recessed area of some of my kitchen cabinet doors. If you use the last of the ranch dressing, you can add it to the running shopping list on the cabinet door while you are still thinking about needing to get some more.
Just found your channel today and am truly blown away!!!
Your channel is exactly what we were looking for! Hubby & I have always struggled to think outside the box. Thank you so much for posting all of these videos on your channel! 💜 People helping people…. outstanding!!! 👍
👋,
Hubs is a master carpenter and near 80 now. I've been looking for things he can make that are useful.
No more kitchens for him.
Thanks for your great videos.
"trugs" are trough shaped baskets. it is called a trug just to emphasize that it is a basket of a specific shape which works very well for collecting long delicate objects like flowers and other garden pickings. traditionally they are made of willow in England and Ash in the US afaik.
Hey Matt, can you make a step by step video on making the triangle shelves? It doesn’t look difficult but seeing exactly how you do it would give more confidence. Thanks!!
I have a ton of picture frames that I bought at the thrift store....waiting for a project. I think I've found it!!! Stellar ideas as always!!!
You can also market the basket as a vegetable harvesting basket.
Matthew has a video from last year on making a garden basket as well. check his site for it.
A friend of mine had several louvered doors me was tossing & my mind saw reusable wood. I deconstructed the doors & naturally ended up with a whole lot of slats. Granted they aren't constructed to hold weight, but i think they'd work for the bottoms of the flower baskets. I try to use what I can reclaim, but still have to occasionally buy lumber. 😂
That's what I said!❤
For a flexible straight edge I found the metal straps used for packing in warehouses is AWESOME. If you can find a piece in the dumpster that isn’t bent line I did. I found three various lengths and simply rounded the corners and drilled a hole to hang them on a nail
A scrap plexiglass strip found at the local hardware store is another option.
Huh?
For the double triangle shelf, i would line up the triangles, so it looks like one side of the one triangle went through the board to start the other triangle. I think this would make it more aesthetically pleasing and could make your shelf stand out better than the one from The Big Box store.
Dude, I love that flower trug!!!! I already made some of your picket garden baskets from last years video for mom for mothers day. But I think I'm gonna have to make her one of these trugs too!! I'll make some to sell as mothers day gifts as well. This is a perfect time to advertise mothers day stuff so, once again, I'm gonna capitalize on your ideas!!! Lol. Love it, bro. You the man!!!
Thank you!
I just made a flower 🌺 trugg a week ago, made it entirely out of Beech stain to dark oak held together with glue and brass rod, looks very rustic and I’m very pleased with how it came out, btw…love the vids from the UK 🤓
I’ll be glad when I get to move into my house so I can finally start learning to build so many things.
You always think outside the box. Rock Star
Matthew, thank you for your words there at the end.
They hit me deeply.
Awesome work with everything!
Really enjoy your videos. Helpful, funny and encouraging. What more a person want ? Thanks.
And my school always told me to say "no" to trugs! 😆
❤ there's so much stuff that I'm going to make now that summer is just about here thanks Matt I always look forward to your videos ☺️
Thanks! I consider you a friend. God bless 🎉
Thanks buddy.
Hang it at an angle to get a Y shape. Wowza man.
Dude, you are great for having these as well as explaining everything. You rock.
Pretty cool man, I'm glad you still build, seems lots have sold out and just do tool reviews and follow algorithms...its gotten very old and I'm not alone on this. Thanks for keeping real my man, it's why I'm subscribed....
The square box stand would great if it was an outdoor planter.
You can use those little scraps for inlays for accents...I use them for inlays on my turkey calls.
Matthew m8 bravo another phenomenal video. Such an amazing teacher and proper woodworking inspirational teacher. 👏🏴😃👍
Great ideas.
Thank you!
Thanks Matthew. It's fun to think outside the box. JImE
always more ideas than I can possibly have time to do... job well done... love the stacked boxes...
Very educational videos, thank you..
Thank you so much for their money! You're showing us amazing things. I enjoy building and I can't thank you enough. But, this'll have to do.
👍👍👍. Thank you
No problem 👍
You make truts with wire too. They are great in the garden for your harvest and stuff. Very positive video. Thx.
I do like the triangle shelf that was holding the TP. That is a good idea for anything round. You could even make a "sawtooth pantry organizer" That is make a board with a series of triangles for storing cans.
Great ideas. Nice work and well done video. Makes me wish I didn't have to sleep every night and lose several hours a day. What could you do during that time? lol.
Great ideas as always Mathew Thanks for sharing
You are the best.
Thank you!
Didn't know you had an outdoor channel. Subbed.
Another great one. Really like the cubes. I think they will see quite good
Thanks!
Thank you for the shelf video. The one I made looks so cool but totally not stable. I made a base for mine because I was unsure how to make legs. Now I know. You are awesome. Have a great day.
Thanks for sharing for I’m always looking for new things to build with my scrap wood
Those thin slats, I save mine for weaving , used in drawer fronts, they look really nice.
Good job and thank you for sharing enjoyed it Keep building
I love your videos! I learn so much!! Thanks Matt
As usual u have delivered new project to add to my book for inspection I go through it and look for something that stands out for any or all pages then I start sketching - erasing - sketching until I see what I envisioned
You are such a great deliverer of content I just really get a lot out of them and you make me laugh along the way So relatable
Thanks for sharing I will continue to call mine flower baskets 🧺
I like this series of videos, always some good ideas.
Love the ideas, and how easy to build them!! Thanks
big fan i really like youre points on how to pick stuff and give it youre own twist
For the flower chug, I'm gonna keyhole saw it
Poppin tags😂
Love your videos. Especially the creative uses of cedar fence boards. I bought a 1984 Chris Craft Commander 31 foot sport fishing boat. I plan on replacing all the garnish '84 Grey carpet with cedar fence boards I run through a router table to make them tongue and groove. These will all be inside my boat. Shall I leave them raw or finish them? If finish, what finish should I use to make the cedar boards beutiful?
Great ideas again that I would probably build myself...but I have a question; could you show us how you made the shroud around your miter saw? Thanks!👍
Great ideas!
Mr Peech,
Thank you for your efforts.
My Big Question is where and how to sell/market these items?
Please let us know the research options!
Great projects,
You come up with the best items to sell. Where are you from. Love your videos
Thank you! Kentucky
Looks great! I gotta make one
Good video . Target all changes their name to targe’ 😂😂
LOL I almost never throw any scraps out. I always find a use for them, because I build everything. The tiny scraps go for miniatures.
BTW, If it makes you feel better, you can find a miniature builder who would love to have your scraps! It costs a lot of money to buy miniature pieces of wood, which are essentially just scraps of wood anyway. 😣
Can you show how you mount it or a picture of where you put the mounting brackets
Very cool!
Thank you
Another awesome video!
I'm going to try making this tomorrow!
Have fun!
Do your pickets ever have saw chatter marks on them from when they were manufactured? If so do you sand them out of leave them?
Hunting. Fishing. Demonetization. All win.
I think you are a great salesman as well as your woodworking skills. I built 49 of the tall tapered plant stands and have sold 2 so far on Facebook market place. I am a little anxious to see if they all sell.😨
*Cool Ideas.*
Thanks!
Im surprised you didn't mention the book caddy's that seem to be all the rage right now. Those are triangles as well.
*rushes into house* "HA MY SCRAP PILE IS VINDICATED BWAHAHAHAHAHA"
Hey hey from Iowaaaay! I’m surprised that the picture frame vases weren’t triangles lol
Hey Matt, love your content. Subscribed!
Im just starting and on a budget. Can i use a micropinner i think its called? I can get one at harbor freight for 26 bucks, pneumatic to hold planters together while glue sets. I want to hide buckets of water with the mosquito larva dunks in them to control the adult population around my house.
Thanks!!!!!!
I enjoy many of your videos...most of which are outside my current skillset. Recently you did a video showing how you vent your dust collection outside, without the use of a two-stage system. I just bought a 1 1/2hp system and I am interested in your setup. I want the best dust removal system that I can currently afford. I live in the mountains and want to see if you system might works, with some adjustments, for me. Would you send me pictures of your system? Also, since I don't know if you live in a warm area or not. By the way, I bought plans for your adjusting shelf, but I can't find it on my computer. How could I get that email again? Thanks in advance for your response to my questions and keep the content flowing. THANKS!!
I love this show. I do wish you would talk slower, though.
Change the speed slightly.
You can slow down or speed up the video by clicking on the 3 dots in the corner and go to payback speed. 😊
This might be a dumb question but at 16:02 Matt says, “If you already have yours painted or stained go ahead and apply wood glue.”
I have never used wood glue AFTER painting or staining my workpieces. Does that still take hold? I would have thought the glue wouldn’t penetrate through the finish.
If anyone has insight then I’d be most grateful. Thank you.
Flag display cases are a triangles.
thanks for your reply, but my requests were not answered. am i not understanding your response? it seems that you sent me links for merchandise. my interest was in your dust collection setup.
Trug is the name traditionally, this is an antique style that's probably ore than a century old. I think it's originally from England but I'm not sure.
I'm slightly confused. I'm sure I'm missing something even though I've rewatched that portion several times. First you mark a line 5& 7/8" on the inside on both sides of the bottom box. Then you you say earlier we marked 6& 7/8 & now we mark 6&1/8 in is measured. Maybe i just need to take a scrap piece, make these measurements & see if it makes more sense. 😂😂😂
Sometimes I have to modify the measurements so go by what I say and not what you see.
Hi there Matthew I started making some wood planter boxes for sale and someone requested a box pretty large,9'long,2'tall,24"wide,16"deep, picket fence boards are $1.48 at Lowe's each,im in Florida they also want the box stain on the outside how much do you think I charge for this box?
I thought a trug was a trug. Aren't the ones used for tools called a tool trug? Maybe I'm old school... 😆
What program do you use to design your plans and make your cut lists? I struggle to figure out dimensions for my own projects.
I outsource my plans. I do like to use cultistoptimizer.com for optimizing my cuts on material.
@@MatthewPeechWoodworking Thank you!
@@MatthewPeechWoodworking this is probly cutlistoptimizer, ya? not cultistoptimizer.
I have access to some large trees I have plans
As a beginner i would like to start spraying my lacquer. Two questions. Is there a compressor for hvlp what isnt like 60gallons that someone would recommend. I mean like harbor freight pricing. Second can i do lacquer in electric sprayer since i am just a hobbiest
Yep, time to get up, get out, go to the lumber store, finish the planters, replace the chevron trees that sold on Saturday.....
How do you find the angle from a picture online?
What are the dimensions of the trug basket
❤
Just go buy one get the shapes and measurements then go return it along with the other 10 pcs used for models and templates 😂😂😅
A-tisket, a-tasket
A brown and yellow trug
Doesn't seem right! 😅
Anyone have problems with cedar pickets? Every time I build something, they shrink alot and kinda ruins my builds.
I need help getting my business started you got any ideas.
👍🏻🤜🏻
Yeah when I remember She has a trug as well...
Thank you
Were you Hospital Corpsman by chance?
i enjoy these videos, but have not sold a single thing from any of the ones i have tried. they may sell, but are very regional. certainly not guaranteed money!
This guy just makes quirky woodworking projects and says they sell... you guys eat it up and waste a bunch of time making things that dont sell... and you'll fall for it again next video.
